If Mark Richt and the Bulldogs win two more games they'll play for BCS title. (Brandt Sanderlin/AJC)
This is why we love sports. This is why it’s the greatest reality show we have going – unscripted and unexpected, with fluctuating emotions of fan bases from game to game.
Who foresees this? Who looks at a 0-2 Georgia team last season, with coach Mark Richt under assault by fans and media, with the program a non-factor in the SEC for more than two years, boat-raced in the conference by Alabama, Florida and LSU, and thinks: By the end of next season, those Bulldogs may have a chance to play for the BCS championship?
After some early hiccups in Athens Saturday, Georgia buried Georgia Southern 45-14. That’s one development that surprised nobody. What changed the landscape of college football’s national race is what occurred later that evening.
Kansas State, the BCS’s No. 1 team, got body-slammed 52-24 by Baylor (the same Baylor that was 1-5 in the Big 12 before kickoff). Oregon, the BCS’s No. 2 team, was upset at home by Stanford in overtime 17-14 (the same Oregon team whose point totals had ranged from 42 to 70 in its first 10 games).
These developments made happy people of everybody in the SEC office and a significant portion of the population in Georgia and Alabama. The losses by Kansas State and Oregon opened the door to the winner of the SEC championship game getting a pass into the BCS title game. When the new BCS rankings came out Sunday night, the top five teams were as expected: 1) Notre Dame; 2) Alabama; 3) Georgia; 4) Florida; 5) Oregon. Kansas State dropped all the way to sixth.
For the Bulldogs, it comes down to this: Win two games and they’re in. Yes, really.
Beat rival Georgia Tech at home next week (they will be favored) and Alabama in two weeks at the Georgia Dome (they will be underdogs) and the Dogs will play for their first BCS title.
Suddenly, residents of this state – at least those not associated with the teams on North Ave. – bark in unison.
Richt will have a difficult job trying to keep his players focused on a football game this week. That’s not the norm. Getting players to think about a game against their state rival shouldn’t be a chore. But the circumstances are extraordinary. Georgia’s last national championship came in 1980, and even if the Dogs need three more victories to win another one, nobody imagined they would get this close – not this year.
Just consider the reaction by some Georgia players on Twitter immediately following Oregon’s loss to Stanford:
• Quarterback Aaron Murray (@aaronmurray11): “Yesssssssssssss!!!!!! The Murray household just went crazyyyyy!!!!!!”
• Running back Keith Marshall (@truthh4): “Can’t lie. I’m excited right now.” But he followed that with: “Gotta focus on GT first.”
• Wide receiver Tavarres King (@TKUnoDos): “ALL SMILES!!!!!!!!”
• Cornerback Sanders Commings: “Thank you Baylor, thank you Stanford.” And Sunday morning: “And I wake up pinching myself. Yea it’s real. We control our own destiny.”
• Safety Marc Deas (@DatBoiDeas): “Show me the BCS!!!!”
Richt will try to ground them all this week. But one thing Georgia has done well is respond to adversity, whether it’s a loss (like getting pounded by South Carolina) or struggling early in against an inferior opponent (like Saturday against Georgia Southern). Maybe that grounding effect can work in high times, too.
“The one thing that’s different about this team is our composure,” wide receiver Chris Conley said following Saturday’s win. “We haven’t had guys freaking out on the sideline when something’s not going right.”
It follows that now they can’t freak out when everything is going right.

GT will bring the house to us. They have to be prepared to play disciplined football. I’m glad we got the warm up for the TO. They should be focused on Tech, and only Tech. Thoughts of Bama and beyond should not even enter into their consciousness, although I know that’s unrealistic.

Hey the Dawgs control their own destiny with one regular season game to go. Who could ask for more? There are 120 other teams that would kill to be in this position. I have always thought this team has national championship talent but just never played at that level as a team until recently. They have a shot and that is all you can ask for.

If Coach Richt can’t get his players to concentrate on ths week’s game, he should probably just quit (or be fired). Two wins from being in BCS Championship Game and they may be looking past someone?
Granted, there would probably be one loss teams that played as hard or harder schedule than UGA, but no one would dare leave the SEC one loss team out of the championship game, assuming only one undefeated team.

Well we have a shot at a title. That’s all you can ask for is a shot. No way UGA lets GT, a hate rival, come into Athens and ruin that. I just don’t see it happening. I know Tech’s option offense can be tricky but we just faced it. So we’ll be ready to go. Especially now since this has happened. Tech’s defense has no shot vs. Murray, Gurley and crew. Dawgs win by 20.

I would go to a ball control approach vs. GT.
Just play keep away, keep the UGA defense off the field, not risking injuries to the cut blocking.
Move to a total running game, or short passing attack. Run the clock, win the turnover battle, get out with a win, style points don’t matter now, just win baby win.
If you can get up by 21 on GT and force them to throw the ball, it’s game over, but even if the ideal doesn’t happen, just win. Keep a 2 score minimum lead thru the game.
GT will try and spoil this.
Greg

GT will try to spoil it, but not by winning the game. That won’t happen. They’ll try to injure our players. That’s just how dirty they’ll play. They’ll try to provoke us to fight and try to get some players suspended for the Bama game. Tech doesn’t have anything to play for, but UGA does clearly. Players must be disciplined and honed in on the task at hand.

We now know how to beat Bama:
1- Mobile QB at T A& M was more than they could handle–look for Murray to run and scramble to keep plays alive, a la Big Ben Rothlesberger
2- Pass on their defense like Mettenberger did so well, just short passes when they blitz, burn their corners, and their lb’s, especially on 3rd down
3- Force AJ to pass and throw picks, hopefully from way behind score wise, AJ tends to panic there
4- Win the turnover battle, like Florida, Bama relies on luck(turnovers) to win games, win the turnover battle, and they become an average team.
Alabama’s offense is 1 dimensional, they are 73rd in passing, and havn’t repped it enough this year.
Alabama, like Florida, relies too much on turnovers. Beat them at their own game and they lose.
Alabama’s defense is weak against the pass and mobile running qb’s.

Murray is the #2 QB in passer rating in the nation. If Bama thought Mettenberger was a nightmare, wait until they meet the 2012 Murray.
And Murray is MUCH more mobile than Mettenberger, not as mobile as Johnny football, but very creative, and can keep drives and plays alive with his legs, that will drive Bama nuts.
And the UGA defense will win the turnover battle, just like the Florida game.

UGA should beat Bama with “Operation Offensive Chaos”.
1- Let Murray be Murray, and run around like Tarkenton.
2- have the UGA WR’s vary scramble rules, sometimes go deep, sometimes break to sidelines, sometimes run comeback routes.
3- Sometimes throw 5 plays in a row, sometimes run 5 plays in a row.
4- Throw it on 4th down, Murray is VERY good throwing on 4th down, ask Florida about 2011
5- Run the hurry up at warp speed without substitution, Saban hates it
6- The backs should do a lot of cutbacks, spins, and stop moves.
7- run a LOAD of trick plays, which UGA has NEVER ran before
8- Spread out the defense with 5 wr’s and run the ball
9- 50% go against tendancies, 50% go with tendencies, keep Bama’s defense uncertain
10- run formations they havn’t seen on film

I know I’m not the only one, but I have been saying all season if Georgia stays focussed this would be a special seaon. Despite having no opportunity for their starters to gel until the second half of the season and losing 2 of their key offensive players, Georgia is back in the SEC Championship and finally looking good on both side of the ball.
As the true freshman Keith Marshall said “Gotta focus on GT next.”

Give the Dawgs their due1 They did not lose a single game in which they were favored by 10+.KSU and Oregon now can’t say that! And wasn’t Bammer favored by ten or more against A&M?
I don’t even pay much attention to the South Carolina loss anymore! Everybody in Columbia was juiced that night (figuratively, I THINK).One thing the Chickens should take away from their season is that it does no good to pour all your emotional eggs in one game. That’s a good way for a team to burnout. A few weeks later the Chickens were burnt to a crisp (and they still look burnt out)
UGA vs. Notre Dame for the NC this season! UGA vs Urban Crier for the NC in 2014! If the Dawgs remain steady and focused this WILL occur. And they will beat ND!

Hope someone can answer this seriously, how can UGA be ranked #3 in the AP, when every other team ranked 1-5,their schedule is twice as difficult.
They have played at least 4 & 5 teams ranked in the Top 25 this year on their schedules. Look it up, I did, UGA has played 2 on their schedule. Lost one, and won one. The rest of their schedule is so far below par. I don’t understand this reasoning? Their are several 10-1 teams that have played much harder schedules.

As for Murray, I haven’t seen a more productive QB since the 2nd half of the Gator game. Dare say if Murray had played that well the entire season, guess who would have won the Heisman? BUT!!! What a thrilling turnaround for our Dawgs! I’m hopeful we can pull it all off. If so, Richt gets his national title, and Murray will go down as one of the greatest quarterbacks in UGA history, not to mention the magnificent Jarvis Jones. We’re asking a lot of these guys, but they did not give up after the SC loss. You know God has a sense of humor when two years in a row Spurrier beats our Dawgs only to have to sit on the sidelines while we play for championships. Richt has come so close several times, it would be great to see a man of his character as the coach of a national championship team. Whatever the case, Go Dawgs!

Atlanta, UGA has enjoyed a favorable schedule this year and last year but it’s not like that every year. I remember UF winning a NC several years ago with a similar schedule as well. The Eastern division of the SEC isn’t quite as stout as the West right now but UGA can’t help that. They play whomever the league tells them to play in the conference and I really don’t blame them for taking some patsies on in the OOC schedule. UGA has played some tough OOC games over the years just to watch Oklahoma, USC, Texas, etc. win national championships after only playing a couple of good teams along the way. The SEC is by far the toughest conference in the country and the winner of the SEC should always play for all the marbles.

The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth: the Big 12 and the Pac 12 are soft; ACC is a little hard-nosed but not nearly as talented as the Soft 12s; Big Ten just pure garbage! I knew playing those softies was going to catch up with K-State and Oregon! Beating the biggest enigmatic teams in the land called USC and Oklahoma does not make you a championship team! Everybody on the Dawgs schedule (except AuBurntOut) was hard-nosed and focused, if not fairly talented. No USC/OKLAHOMAS on Georgia schedule! On PAPER the Dawgs did not have a tough schedule! But every opponent was hard-nosed and fairly well prepared! And to the Dawgs credit, they did not get high-minded when they beat Florida. Murray is the key to all our hopes. If he can keep his composure, he’s as good as anyone. If he doesnt, then he will turn the ball over too many times for us to have a chance. We DO have the best team. It’s all up to Murray and perhaps how well he is protected. to be honest, he’s never shown he can be composed in a big game. Except for the second half against FL this year and I wouldn’t exactly call that composed. Malcomb Mitchell made that TD with his legs, but I was hopeful because Murray did seem to settle down a little. atleast he didn’t turn the ball over again. I wished I could say that Richt and Bobo are helping Murray on that, but after watching our receivers drop passes for many years when Richt first arrived and Blair Walsh have his problems last year with any hint of help except “we think he’ll work it out” I don’t know whether CMR and Bobo are helping Aaron fix that problem. None of them ever address the issue, so how is one supposed to have confidence that they are working on it? I’m gonna be praying 4 the offense line and the D to have a lights out game. But, Murray, I wish you the best and hope you throw for 500 yards. Oh, and I hope an errant pass hits Spurrier smack in his big mouth.

Can you explain to me how the Bulldogs can be rated #3 in the country with a schedule like this:
(Buffalo, Missouri, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Southern, Kentucky, Tennessee, Auburn–quality wins over Mississippi and Florida, and a spanking by SC). I do not want to hear that your in the tough SEC when you do not play Alabama, Mississippi St., LSU, Texas A & M, and Arkansas!!!! The Bulldawg nation is most grateful for the opportunity to control it’s own destiny for the BCS NC.
I hear a lot of nay-sayers saying that Murray will wet the bed again in a big game against the Pa-role Tide. I think that we should not remember the 3 aweful picks in the UF game (last big game), but remember the big pass to Malcom Mitchell for the game-winning TD pass. I really think that was the moment that Murray was able to exercise those “big-game” demons.
I don’t think he will poop the bed against Alabama-Slamma. It’s all about timing and I think the Dawgs will be ready to play Bama. I just hope the coaches have a good game plan, b/c we have the players to beat them

I love the BS from the teams who have NO chance this year. Not often does a team have a chance to get in the BigGame, without help from somebody else.
But it’s right here in front of the Dawgs. We need no help from anybody. Forget the schedules, the recruiting, the assistant coaches, etc, etc, etc. Win 3 games, and we get the prize.
I don’t care if we only beat Tech by 1 point, just don’t let them spoil this.

Egads… do you really think UGA is the 3rd best team in the nation?
Can the Lovefest for the SEC become any more irrational? It is like the Repubs and their parallel universe of math for the last year.
Bulldogs, Gators and Gamecocks are all overrated. LSU has no offense. Alabama gets picked apart by a real offense and the only one in the SEC, they just joined.
Even with one loss – Oregon and Kansas State are better than UGA, but because they play in the overblown, topheavy, ESPN hyped SEC.. UGA appears to be a serious team.
WHO HAS UGA PLAYED? What is there quality win? Sure #1 = UF… now name #2.

SE CLUELESS
Say it once say it thousand times; SOFT! That word describes Oregon, K-State and the teams in their conference! Another word; CONSENSUS! The vast opinion of the Soft-12 teams Which is the reason why when the top dog in the Soft-12s loses, they sink deep in the polls behind SEC teams that play “easy” schedules! The have-nots of the SEC are more hard-nosed than any team from the Soft-12s (Stanford being the ONLY exception). Top 3 teams in the polls have good, timely wins and the two SEC teams have losses they could easily bounce back from. And the winner a the Bammer/Georgia can truly say they bounced back!

So if the SEC is so great…
why are you lovers not screaming for this year’s supremacy of football quality as dictated by…
Kentucky
Arkansas
Tennessee
Auburn
Ole Miss
Missouri
Vandy
Half the SEC is really, really bad.
The SEC Rankings should be seen as this (listed in order of best teams in SEC)
SEC
Alabama
Texas A&M
Florida
LSU
South Carolina
Georgia
Mississippi State
Vandy
Missouri
Ole Miss
Arkansas
Tennessee
Auburn
Kentucky
UGA is not even in the Top 5 of the best SEC teams.

Joey,
I am UGA grad and a realist. UGA is 9-1. You got that right.
Did we play anyone this year that was really good? Not really.
Blown out by Gamecocks.
Stupid ugly game that we won versus UF.
I take no credit in besting GaSouthern and we did not play the typical SEC heavyweights.
Plus, debt and deficits are a mixed bag… big wars, wall street bailouts.. cannot really throw that smack down on one party or call someone a fool.
As UGA alums we have to agree that there is some SEC circular logic out there… the SEC did win several national champs… but the SEC did not win it… Bama, UF, Auburn and LSU did. I don’t think USC, KY, Ole Miss, etc. share in the trophy.

Will be really difficult for Tech to get ready for THuga since they have to prepare for the ACC Championship game. Would have thunk Tenn would fire their coach before Auburn. Now the Dooley kid can move back into his parents house. Next Tenn coach is Phil Fulmer. He has one more National Championship than Mark Richt. Along with Gene Chizk, Lou Saban, Les Miles, and Steve Spurrier. Betya Mark leaves at halftime of the SEC Championship Game for his hip replacement surgery. And his gonad replacement.

LSU, ahead of UGA???? -they lost to Florida – they beat Auburn by 2 points, and should have lost at Home to Ole Miss – all teams UGA beat – crushing Ole Miss and Auburn. Vandy gave Florida, USC and virtually everyone fits – UGA destroys by over 45. USC dominated Dawgs when UGA played with 4 returning D players getting their first action and a gimpy Jarvis – but USC got crushed by over 30 to Florida – who UGA beat. Basically all the haters have to hang their hat on is yes – in one of 11 games – UGA got beat, and soundly. Since the UGA starters have returned and gotten up to game speed – and Jarvis has healed – its been pretty much lights out. And I think its pretty obvious that UGA has gotten much better as the season has gone on – even with the losses of Bennett, Brown, Arbry, etc. Will be an interesting next two weeks

I agree with the first commentator, if Richt wins the SEC I won’t criticize him again. You have to take the bad with the good, and I guess a losing (but improving) record against UF and a tendency to not show up for big games is worth it to dominate Tech, go to SEC Championship games and go on the occasional run, like the second half of this season and the ‘07 season.

What time of year it is when you lose has always played a part in the rankings. A champion is supposed to finish strong if they are truly the best. The Dawgs are doing that this year after the defense showed up for the Florida game and has played well since. I agree with the current standings. No other 10-1 team is playing as well as UGA at this moment. No one should be shocked that UGA moved ahead of Oregon. If you’re going to lose, lose early.

I thought Richt was done when we went 0-2 following a nightmare season with losses to CU and Central Florida. I give him a lot of credit for keeping the team together last year through that and making their way to the SEC Title game.
This was Georgia’s best shot at a national title because of the unique combination of historically weak schedule and one of Georgia’s stronger rosters in the lat 20 years. It looked like the USC debacle was going to cost the Dawgs big, but it turns out it has no bearing on winning the SEC or National Championship titles. Like a mulligan in golf, that tee shot didn’t count. It has no bearing on Georgia’s chances to win it all.
There is certainly some luck in that. OSU is on probation, so their undefeated team doesn’t count. Baylor helped us (yes BAYLOR) by being the FIRST team to have a losing record, but beat a #1 BCS team in the last month of the season. Oregon lost a nail biter and had 3-4 chances to win that game. I thought Bama losing would hurt Georgia because IF UGA wins, they no longer beat the #1 team which certainly looks good in the beauty contest.
Last, whichever SEC teams comes out of Atlanta with the title will likely play Notre Dame. While they are a good team (better than many think), they aren’t the juggernaut that one expects to play in the national title game. THIS IS THE YEAR TO DO IT and it within the Dawgs will get the chance.
3 more wins!

# 4 Ohio State
# 3 UGA
Of course, 19-24 in bowl games with 0 wins ever in their entire stinking history in bowl games over any SEC team, Ohio State is not ranked in the Coaches’ Poll, nor the Harris Poll, nor the BCS Rankings Poll coming out in one hour.

While The SEC has 6 teams in the Top 10,
Notre Dame has not beat a single team who is in the Top 10 of either the AP Poll nor the Coaches’ Poll.
How good Notre Dame is, will be determined when they play a team from The SEC.
Notre Dame states that they have beat every conference, but they have played 0 of the 6 SEC teams in the Top 10.

Wreckmaniac – thought you Tech guys could actually read. In my post I said “USC Dominated UGA” and “Uga got beat – and soundly” – Not sure how you twisted that into saying I suggested it was a fluke – but then again – you are a Tech Nerd – so logic need not apply. Has UGA played better since Ogeltree, Rambo and Commings played a few games together? Since Jarvis got over his knee issues? I would say yes – would it have mattered that night in Columbia? Maybe, but probably not. USC played a great game – but if you actually watched it – it became a blowout on 3 plays – Play 1 – underthrown deep pass from Connor Shaw – Rambo in position to pick – and USC wrestles ball away. Play 2 – UGA marching – Murray pass batted straight up in air and right to USC. Play 3 – Ace Sanders brilliant punt return. 21-0 – 8 minutes gone in game. It happens – and full credit to USC for making those plays and winnning game.
If the two teams played again – it does not mean USC would again win by 28. If it did – then how do you explain USC beating Vandy by 4, who UGA beat by 45? Or USC losing to UF by 33 – who UGA beat by 8? Every game and the circumstances in that game will dictate how that particular game plays out – Florida is a great team – but they needed a late blocked punt to beat LA -LA. Is Ga. Tech 3 td’s worse than MTSU (or BYU for that matter)? They were on one saturday – but overall prtobably not.
Thanks for playing – good luck in the Dungeons and Dragons tourney.

The reason why The SEC is # 2 # 3 and # 4 in the BCS Poll is because 10-1 in The SEC is better than any undefeated team who has not played any of the 6 Top 10 SEC teams. South Carolina has dropped in the polls tonight outside the Top 10 but the other 5 SEC teams are top 10 in every single poll, and South Carolina minus my hero Marcus Lattimore (Anyone heard any news?) faces off at Clempsum Farmers this Saturday 7 pm ESPN. Maybe they will give us an update on fine young man Marcus Lattimore ?
Clempsum Farmers have beat NO TEAM RANKED IN ANY POLL WHATSOEVER.
South Carolina certainly beat # 3 in the BCS Georgia (UGA is also # 3 in every other poll bar none.)
Georgia would wipe the floors with Clempsum Farmers.
Stands to reason that (1) South Carolina even without Marcus Lattimore will beat Clempsum Farmers, who have not beat a ranked team all 2012. (2) Since Clempsum Farmers LOST to Florida State, who have not beat a ranked team all 2012 except for Clempsum Farmers, that Florida will wipe the floor with FSU at Florida State 3:30 pm ET this Saturday. ACC please. This will put the ACC where it belongs with not 1 single Top 10 team again for the ACC in 2012. If Florida QB Jeff Driskel cannot play, they still beat Florida State who beat no team ranked in any poll all 2012 whatsoever except for the Clempsum Farmers who beat no team who is any top 25 poll.
ACC CHUMPionship Game ? 7 pm Saturday week. That is AFTER The SEC Championship Game is over and features 6-5 Georgie tek, Miami of Florida conceding their berth to Georgie tek. How ironic is that ? Both Miami of Florida and Georgie tek BOTH on NCAA Probation in Football and yet Georgie tek with 1 Conference Championship starting 1957 will take over the ACC CHUMPionship berth either way the 6-5 Duke and 6-5 Miami of Florida turns out this Saturday.
How anti-climactic that AFTER # 3 UGA and # 2 Alabama face-off, we will have the ACC CHUMPionship game. Just all 3 teams, forfeit your rights to play in the ACC Dr. Pepper CHUMPionship game. Put us out of our misery having to even hear the score.
ACC what a joke. Thanks for the laughs today ACC.

UGA played two teams that that are ranked, beat an over-rated Gator team with a D-3 Qb and lousy offense, and lost to USC 35-7. The rest of their cream puff schedule is a combined 47-63. Do they truly deserve to be ranked this high? NO! If Dogs played in the west, they have lost at least 3 to AL, A&M, and LSU. Instead they play in the east, which is WEAK! If Dogs played the Irish schedule they would be no better than 8-3. Skip the “Remarkable” season garbage and play a real schedule you puppies.

Aaron Murray has a Signature Win over # 4 Florida, the best win in the Mark Richt era. He took the ball to begin the game and game managed us in for a TD. In the 4th quarter, time running out on the clock, Florida trying to tie the score, Aaron Murray again tried to game manage us in for the TD, but Todd Gurley could not run against the Florida defense, so Aaron Murray took the game over. He put the team on his considerable shoulders and threw the 45-yard TD Pass to Malcolm Mitchell with a key block downfield by TE Artie Lynch.
For the game UGA had 123 yards rushing against Florida, who had 75 yards rushing against us, giving UGA more total yards against Florida than Florida had against us.
3rd Down Conversions ? In 2002, UGA was 0-11 including the over-throw by David Greene to a wide open Terrence Edwards, which would have won the game and sent us to the BCS NC Title Game. In 2012, Aaron Murray CONVERTED the 3rd Down opportunity for the 45-yard TD Pass, game on the line, time running down on the clock, when Aaron Murray the nation’s leading quarterback and soon to be the quarterback who sets all the touchdown records in The SEC All-Time, lead Mark Richt’s team to his 8th season of 10-Wins in 12 years.
This is NOT padding stats vs cupcakes; instead, this is the VERY ESSENCE of being a GREAT QUARTERBACK, and far better than AJ McCarron. Who is Alabama’s leading running back ? We have Todd Gurley 1000-yard rusher in The SEC, who had 118 yards rushing against # 4 Florida including a TD running on a day when Florida scored 0 TD. Todd Gurley also had 2 catches for 23 yards vs Florida. These are not running up stats on cupcakes.
These represent the best win by any BCS Championship Game contender over # 4 Florida.
There is NO OTHER TEAM WHO HELD FLORIDA TO 0 TOUCHDOWNS, thanks to Alec Ogletree and Jarvis Jones. Who has Alabama got to compare with them, either ?
I would not think that Alabama would want their rabid fans on our blog bragging what you’re going to be doing to UGA 2 weeks from now when you’ve only beat us 36 of 63 previous games, for the best record of any opponent against Alabama.

To all the UGA haters that are whining about our schedule this year, just remember that we still have to play and beat Alabama to get to a NCG so shut up already. You won’t be able to say we’re undeserving if we beat Bama. Look back at some of the former NC’s schedules and compare. I know darn well UF has had some cakewalks to the big game before as well as ALL of the non SEC champs. SoCal, Oklahoma, and Texas are prime examples. They had very little trouble with their weak conferences but still got all the love from the pollsters. So get off UGA’s back. Beat tech and Bama and go play for all the marbles!

and bama can not only pass but man they can pound the football. had they done so against a&m they’d won.

And, anyway, none of them are in a play-in game for the BCS NC Title Game.
Neither is LSU.
Alabama has more national appeal than UGA; but that has nothing to do with the BCS Title Game and how it is awarded.
It is awarded in this case, by Alabama beating us for the 37th time in 64 games. True Alabama fans want to play UGA less than anyone knowing how tough UGA always has been for Alabama. I know. I’ve been to the games.

6-5 Georgie tek 2012 will lose for 11th time in 12-year Mark Richt era to # 3 UGA; then Georgie tek will lose to Florida State in the ACC CHUMPionship game 7pm Dec 1 AFTER # 3 UGA plays # 2 Alabama at 4 pm. That will bring Georgie tek’s record to 6-7, then their bowl game 6-8.

yeah I’d say your defense is bad when you play good teams and is padded against bad ones. south Carolina rushed all over you, hapless ut b o asted your defense and even florida matched your total yards even after six or so turnovers.
what’s crazy is i just looked at your signature win stats… more penalty yards than you had rushing yards, and 1-10 on third down? signature win or biggest gift ever? there were nine turnovers? that’s insane.

Only Georgie tek has NEVER won an AP Poll National Championship in football, and cannot accomplish that, either, this season at 6-5 fixing to be 6-8 for 2012. For everybody who thought that the Dawgs had NO chance to get to the BCS after Bama lost… where did your pessimism get you? For all of your negativity what did it gain you? Nothing.
What are you going to say when UGA beats Bama in the SEC championship game? There is still a possibility that Notre Dame could lose. That would make the SEC championship game between #1 and #2… winner take all. And if the Dawgs win then they richly deserve a shot at the BCS championship. You take your weak schedule whining and shove it at that point. If things remain as they are then the Dawgs will again be playing a #2 team. If they win they will have beaten the # 2 team twice in less than half a season. That is earning it folks. Forget South Carolina… the team that lost that game is dead and gone.
The Dawgs an offense that CAN beat Bama. They have trouble getting to the passer and their secondary is suspect. Our WR’s are better than LSU’s and our running game is stronger than A&M’s. Our defense is as good as LSU’s and better than A&M’s. When all is said and done that game will be about intensity. If the Dawgs show up with UF level intensity… Bama is sunk. When they play with that level of intensity no one can beat them.
I want to play Notre Dame for the national championship again. It turned out pretty good last time. Notre Dame shouldn’t be undefeated anyway. Stanford got screwed on a horrible call in their game. Stanford is the ONLY good team Notre Dame has played. Unfortunately, I am pretty sure USC will expose Notre Dame next week. We will see.

That is called EARNING the right to be in the BCS championship game. The following is the most intelligent post ESPN’s Heather Dinich has ever posted:
Who programmed “overrated” into the computers this year? There’s no way Georgia and Florida are THAT much better than the ACC’s top two teams — if they even are better at all. Florida State has a chance to prove that this weekend, when the Noles host the rival Gators in the final game of the regular season. On second thought, Florida’s unwarranted ascension in the BCS standings might be the best thing to happen to FSU because if they win on Saturday, it will carry even more significance.
A shakeup in the standings was expected this weekend after Oregon and Kansas State both lost, but the rapid promotion of the SEC East comes as a surprise while the ACC maintained its status quo. Florida beat Jacksonville State. FSU won on the road to clinch the ACC’s Atlantic Division. Georgia overcame a slow start to beat Georgia Southern, not to be confused with Georgia Tech.
The SEC is rewarded for beating up on the little guys while the ACC is penalized for it.

Thomas Brown and his Stats:
It’s easy to have an argument when you only tell one side of the story.
Yes, Georgia gave up ZERO Touchdowns to Florida this year, but you don’t mention they gave up 44 to Tennessee and 24 to Kentucky, ranked #115th in total offense and #116th in scoring offense.
Yes, the beat Tech in 2009, but you don’t mention they lost to Tennessee, who finished 7-5 and Kentucky, AT HOME, who also finished 7-5.
Yes, the beat the Vols in 2001, but you don’t mention they lost to Auburn AT HOME, who finished 7-4.
Yes, they beat Auburn in 2006, but you don’t mention they lost to Vanderbilt AT HOME, who finished 4-8.
Also…Mark Richt sent more players to NFL than “any other coach in America”? Wrong again…try Steve Spurrier at 85 an Mack Brown’s 96 to Mark Richt’s 57. I attached the link for you so you can see the others can look stuff up too

Who foreseen it?!! I forseen it and was saying this BEFORE the 2011 season began…..The Dawg has turned. I told you young ignorant fans this JANUARY 2011 AFTER the bowl loss and the 6-7 season. I told you all that you were missing the big picture and that all was well and the prior 2 seasons understandable. EASILY understandable. A little worse than expected by a game or 2 but still not unexpected. BUT you were all spoiled by al the winning and the almost winning it all you couldnt take the EXPECTED down years…..I told you IMMEDIATLEY AFTER THE 2010 SEASON WHEN YOU WERE ALL, INCLUDING SCHULTZ AND BRADLEY, CALLING FOR RICHTS HEAD AND I HAVE SUPPORTED HIM SINCE THEN BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN THIS PROGRAM FOR 33 YEARS. I HAVE SEEN UPS AND DOWNS AND I KNOW WHAT WE GOT IN COACH MARK RICHT. WE HAVE A FOUNDATION AND STABILITY AND A TRADITION OF CONSISTENT WINNING HAS BEEN BUILT. HE WEATHERED THE STORM AS I STATED HE WOULD AND UGA IS IN A BETTER PLACE FOR IT. THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING. UGA IS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE FROM EVEN MY WISE PREDICTIONS. THEY WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE SEC CHAMP UNTIL THIS YEAR, NOT LAST YEAR. BUT THAT WILL GET THEM THE W OVER BAMA THIS YEAR AND INTO THE NC. AND WHEN UGA BRINGS THE TROPHY HOME….PLEASE ALL YOU RICHT HATERS, DO NOT CELEBRATE ONE TIME. NOT ONE TIME. UNTIL YOU COME ON HERE AND PUBLICLY ADMIT HOW WRONG YOU WERE.
THE NEXT 10 YEARS ARE GOING TO BE THE BEST IN UGA HISTORY. EVEN IF WE HAVE A COUPLE DOWN ONES. AND WHEN WE DO I HOPE YOU MATURED DURING THIS PROCESS AND WILL NOT FREAK OUT WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN…BEAR BRYANT HAD MANY MORE LOSING SEASONS THAN MARK RICHT…..INCLUDING IMMEDIATELY BEFORE WINNING BACK-TO-BACK NC’S. INCLUDING DOOLEY THE YEAR BEFORE HE WON IT. WELL HERSCHEL WON IT. UGA MIGHT NOT WIN IT THIS YEAR AND NEITHER WERE THEY “EXPECTED” TO. NOR WERE THEY EXPECTED WO WIN THE SEC EVEN. SO IF IT DONT HAPPEN, DONT FREAK OUT. BE HAPPY YOU HAVE A GREAT COACH WHO HAS BUILT A GREAT PROGRAM WITH A FOUNDATION. UNLIKE AT AUBURN, TENN, FLA, ARK, MISS, MISS ST, VANDY, KENT, GT, ETC. ONLY A SELECT FEW ARE CONSISTENTLY IN THE TOP 10 IN THIS NATION AND UGA IS IN THE SEC….THE BEST IS YET TO COME. AND YOU WANTED THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE OF THIS JOURNEY FIRED. AND YOU AND CERTAIN MEMBERS OF THE AJC WERE…..WRONG. DONT MATTER IF UGA WINS OR LOSES ITS LAST 2 GAMES OR NOT. WE WERENT SUPPOSED TO WIN IT ALLTHIS YEAR ANYWAY. ON THE FLIPSIDE, WE WERE SUPPOSED TO LOSE IN 2009 AND 2010. I LOBBIED AND TRIED TO TALK SENSE INTO THE IGNORANTS. THEY THINK THEY ARE WISE AND KNOW SO MUCH BUT THEY ARE JUST YOUNG, EMOTIONAL AND DUMB. LISTEN TO YOUR ELDERS AND KEEP YOUR TRAP SHUT. YOU WONT HAVE TO SWALLOW SO MUCH CROW AND CAN ACTUALLY ENJOY WHEN THE DAGS WIN BIG WITH RICHT. YOU MIGHT AS WELL SUPPORT HIM AS COACH HARDHEADS….HES NOT GOING ANYWHERE UNTIL HE WANTS TO GO. YOU BETTER START WORRYING ABOUT THAT. PLENTY OF SCHOOLS WOULD LOVE TO HAVE HIM.
ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE UGA HAS A SPECIAL TEAM AND WINS IT ALL. ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. THAT TIME COULD BE HERE SOONER THAN WE EXPECTED…IF I AM SAYING ITS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE,
ALL OF YOU RICHT HATERS YOU MUST BE IN SEVERE SHOCK!!! WHAT IGMOS. TOLD YOU THAT AFTER 2010 BOWL GAME… IT WAS ALL GOOD. THE DAWG HAD TURNED AFTER 2 EXPECTED DOWN YEARS…MAYBE YOU WILL LISTEN NOW…THE BEST IS YET TO COME

ShadeTree, why is that you’ve NEVER written 1 post ever here, and now pick on me that you’re some guru in college football talking about NFL Draft Picks by different coaches during the Mark Richt era because you reference that joke of a group of sorry writers, The Bleacher Report, with 2 guys who posted replies to every Bleacher Report ever, always talking with themselves ?
Excuse me the Bleacher Report you gave us the URL Link to doesn’t even have that. No replies from anyone in America to the story you reference. Strong blog there Bubba.
I hardly think that Mack Brown, coaching for 27 years has sent more players into the NFL that Mark Richt has in the Mark Richt era.
Steve Spurrier, coaching for 25 years, has been a college football head coach starting 1987.
Mack Brown has been a college football head coach starting 1983.
Mark Richt didn’t even graduate from college until 1982 and has been head coach since 2001, less than half the number of years of either. And, you run in here with a URL Link to a Bleacher Report when I have never read a Bleacher Report yet which has EVER been correct in their facts. Not ever. Not 1.
If you look at the NFL Drafts, not some Bleacher Report written by someone afraid to have his posts scrutinized and replied to, especially 1 no one replied to, you will find that indeed Mark Richt has done far better than Mack Brown and Steve Spurrier, head-to-head. That’s because he recruits better than they do. Steve Spurrier at South Carolina is # 12 in the BCS Poll today, and Mack Brown at Texas is # 16 in the BCS Poll today, while Mark Richt is # 3 in every poll today including most especially the BCS Poll. This is despite the fact that Mark Richt coaches in The SEC with 5 Top 10 teams in every poll today, while Mack Brown plays in what’s left of the Big XII with 4 top teams who just up and quit the Big XII. The Big XII has 1 team in the BCS Top 10, and that one team is ranked WORSE than Georgia and a total of 3 SEC teams are all 3 higher ranked than the 1 Big XII in the top 10 of the BCS Poll. The Big XII lost # 8 Texas A and M and # 14 Nebraska, both of whom up and quit the Big XII. Winning games in the Big XII is easy. And, it is easier now without all these teams who just up and quit the conference because Texas is allowed to keep more of their revenues in the Big XII than any other member. It’s totally unfair. Obviously.
The Bleacher Report with no replies from anyone ever, you reference says Mark Richt has only 57 NFL Draft Picks.
College – Alabama – Florida – LSU – UGA

In fact, that is how many LSU has in the Mark Richt era, 57.
72 NFL Draft Picks is how many Mark Richt actually has being a head coach starting 2001.
You didn’t really expect to compare the only 2 other coaches you can find, one who started as a college football head coach 18 years before Mark Richt started being a head coach, and one who started as a college football head coach 14 years before Mark Richt started being a head coach, and try to compare those number of NFL Draft Picks with Mark Richt starting 2001 – the Mark Richt era in question.
Did you ?
Mack Brown has 68 NFL Draft Picks in the last 15 years.
Mark Richt has 72 NFL Draft Picks in the last 12 years.
Who has done better ShadeTree ?
Steve Spurrier is a jerk who said just this month that Alabama could beat an NFL team, and then Texas A and M as I guaranteed on this blog since the day we beat # 4 Florida at the stadium where the Gator Bowl is held every year, beat Alabama. Texas A and M lost to Florida, who preferred Ron Zook to Steve Spurrier as their coach. South Carolina lost to Florida 11-44 losing by 33 whom Mark Richt beat 17-9. So, while Mark Richt beat Florida by 8 points, Steve Spurrier lost by 33 to his alma mater who would not hire him back there no matter what and sent him to South Carolina instead. Texas A and M also lost to LSU who Florida also beat, while Mark Richt beat Florida by 8 points.
______________________________________________________________
WE TOOK BALL AWAY FROM FL 8 TIMES, COMING UP WITH 6 OF THE 8
______________________________________________________________
Nothing could be better from our point of view to match us up with Florida again than to play Notre Dame who has beat NO ONE. Notre Dame claims to have beat EVERY CONFERENCE but Notre Dame has not beat any of The SEC teams who make up 5 of the Top 10 in the BCS Poll. In fact, Notre Dame has not beat any team in the Top 10 of any Poll today.
64-37 South Carolina Steve Spurrier starting 2005
74-29 Georgia Mark Richt starting when Spurrier got to USCe 2005
Mark Richt has consistently out-recruited Steve Spurrier and Steve Spurrier does not have a winning record against Mark Richt head-to-head.
In the NFL Draft starting 2005 when Steve Spurrier began coaching South Carolina, South Carolina has had 22 NFL Draft selections. You are not seriously comparing Steve Spurrier’s NFL Draft Picks with Mark Richt, now are you ShadeTree ?
I don’t have to mention any of your specifics trying to refute :
# 20 Total Defense UGA 2012
# 18 Scoring Defense UGA 2012
when your specifics are included in the totals. The facts are that UGA’s 2012 Defense on the topic of your blog has 11 NFL Draft Selections coming from it.
There is NO WAY you can say that UGA’s Defense 2012 is no bloody good ShadeTree.
Why don’t you put your team in your handle ShadeTree, or are you afraid to for obvious reasons ?
(1) Your post is a joke comparing 14 and 18 years more coaching than Mark Richt
(2) Your point is to say UGA’s defense is no good 2012
(3) Your post says Spurrier & Brown put more in NFL Draft than Mark Richt
(4) Mark Richt’s UGA Defense 2012 will have 11 NFL selections alone
(5) Your Bleacher Report URL Link is utterly incorrect, isn’t it ?
(6) 57 NFL Draft Selections Mark Richt since 2001 or 72 ?
(7) Which is it ShadeTree ?
(8) What eats at you ShadeTree is that you are afraid to tell us your team in your handle for obvious reasons while UGA has beat # 4 Florida for the best win of any BCS Contender.
Mark Richt is well-loved by the kids today, and has been all 12 years he has been here. His Fortë is recruiting. Since 2001 when he started coaching, Mark Richt has averaged the # 7 recruiting ranking averaging both Scout.com and Rivals. Mark Richt has therefore averaged better than every school in the United States in recruiting rankings except for Southern California, and Mark Richt will have had more NFL Draft Selections than Southern California after the GREAT 2012 UGA DEFENSE is drafted in the up-coming NFL Draft.
Southern California has had 74 NFL Draft Selections 2001 through 2012
Mark Richt has had 72 NFL Draft Selections 2001 through 2012.
Mark Richt will have 11 NFL Draft Selections from this National Championship Contender 2012 alone, while Southern California under Lame Kitten has 4 Losses already and a 5th Loss Saturday with UGA # 3 in every poll while Southern California is UNRANKED in every poll. Southern California started 2012 ranked # 1 ahead of Mark Richt but ends the season unranked with 7-Losses while Mark Richt plays for a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP 2012. With Matt Barkley and Robert Woods both of USC QB and WR both dropping a ton in the NFL Draft 2013, USC will have to have 10 NFL Draft Selections to catch Georgia over the 12-year Mark Richt era.
_________________________________________________________
USC needs 10 draft picks 2013 to have more than UGA Mark Richt era
_________________________________________________________
The kids LOVE Mark Richt. He is a fine man whom the kids want to play for, and he does a BETTER JOB OF PUTTING PLAYERS INTO THE NFL THAN ANY COACH IN AMERICA.

The so-called NC GAME has pretty much, always been a debate in November. Why should this year be any different. You can’t hang your hat on a program for having won it any more than you can dispose of a program for not winning it. It’s not necessarily something in a coach’s control.
That being said. I found it interesting that this is only the 20th “10 WIN” season in UGA’s history and CMR has 8 of them. And this is the coach you want to fire????
Bobo’s offense has broken a touchdown/season mark. And you want to fire him?????
Either, the poster’s calling for these guys heads over the last couple of years don’t know a thing about football or they are not DAWG fans and are just trying to stir the pot.
I told all of you a couple of years ago that UGA hasn’t had a team this complete since the late ’70’s-early ’80’s and to just be patient and let Richt do his thing. We are about to witness a special time in UGA history. They may or may not win the NC. It is far more important to win the SEC TITLE. Go DAWGS!!!!!!!

UGA beats Georgie tek 50-9
UGA beats Alabama about 27-24.
What if Notre Dame gets beat by 4-Loss unranked any poll, Southern California ?
That is all it takes.
UGA then gets re-match UGA vs Florida, this time not at the stadium where the Gator Bowl is played every year, but at the Georgia Dome where at least half the games should be played anyway.
# 4 Florida would move up to # 2
# 3 UGA would move up to # 1
UGA would win the re-match since we have BOTH an OFFENSE and a Defense.
Neither Notre Dame, nor Alabama, nor Florida have anything close to an Aaron Murray.
Neither Notre Dame, nor Alabama, nor Florida have anything close to a Jarvis Jones.
Neither Notre Dame, nor Alabama, nor Florida have anything close to an Alec Ogletree.
Neither Notre Dame, nor Alabama, nor Florida have anything close to a Todd Gurley.
Our talent is NOT inferior; it is CLEARLY succinctly, better.
These are the ONLY 4 teams involved.
Notre Dame
Alabama
Florida
Georgia
Well, Southern California unranked with 4-Losses, could beat Notre Dame; but, if they don’t
# 4 Florida
# 3 UGA
# 2 Alabama
Are ALL licking our chops to have the chance to play them.
If Notre Dame LOSES to lowly unranked previously # 1 Southern California with 4-Losses already, then the winner of The SEC Championship Game gets 1-slot and Florida at # 4 would move up past the loser of The SEC Championship Game and above then a 1-loss Notre Dame who has beat no team in the top 10 with their 3 great wins this season over # 7 LSU # 8 Texas A and M and # 12 today South Carolina who will BEAT Clempsum Farmers who have beat no one in any top 25 poll all season long.

“What lost the game?????
Inexperienced and underdeveloped youth in the offensive line. Can’t run or pass without it. Period. They were playing against the best defensive front in the country and it showed.
Defense had a piss poor game plan. Nobody had containment and Jarvis Jones was taking shallow angles toward the running back while no one accounted for QB. Defensive line played well. Not much yardage given up in the power running game and fair penetration throughout the night, which forced shaw out of the pocket and eventually down the field cause nobody was accounting for him on the edges.
Why didn’t the coaching staff see this coming and plan for it? Why run #3 and #4 up the middle with 6 of the best D-LINE in the country waiting for him and no push at all from the O-LINE.
I defended CMR and Staff for years for a very good reason, but what happened tonite is inexcusable. The coaching staff was caught with their pants down. As far as I’m concerned, if CMR and company don’t win the SEC this year or at least look competitive in the game…then it’s time to clean house. They’ve got NFL grade talent on both sides of the ball. Other teams win with a lesser O-LINE than UGA has by gameplanning and not relying heavily on the line (i.e., quick release passes, sprint outs, QB running plays, sweeps, etc.). I saw very little of that tonite. When we did see it, it was relatively successful.
NO GAME PLAN!!!!!!!!!!”

It certainly sounds to me like you are writing a post to yourself, aren’t you BIG MIKE, sir ? I happen to believe that you were correct in trying to motivate our team like we did against Florida to start this great run 2012 for Mark Richt’s great recruits remaining, all 64 scholarship recruits plus 1 transfer-in. Were you WRONG last month BIG MIKE and Shawn Williams, wrong too ? Or, are you right this month that how many TD in a 14-game season or how many wins in a 14-game season should be compared with 11-game seasons ending in 1979, and 12-game seasons which ran from 1980 through 2001 for us, or even go all the way back to 1942 and try to compare that one 12-game season 1942 with 2012 ?
It’s a little confusing comparing 14-game seasons with 11-game or 12-game seasons, especially with bowl records removed from those old records as well; but yes Mark Richt whom you called for being fired just last month, has won 10-game seasons 8 times in 12-seasons to-date with more to come if he will stay here because of his great recruiting.
But, your post makes it sound like you are trying to say this morning that last month, you were wrong.
I think you were right last month. Or, was Shawn Williams wrong, too BIG MIKE ?

Thomas,
I have posted here before and my post is not a joke. I responded to YOUR previous post exactly the way you presented it. Now, you have to go back and talk about how many years in coaching…etc. Go back and read your own post…you said “Mark has sent more to the NFL than any coach”…again, I answered it the way YOU wrote it.
As far as picking on you, not even close, just some friendly sports banter showing how easy it is to present one side and make it sound sensational. Like this talking heads at ESPN, wasn’t it just last week how great KSU and Oregon was?
You said how Notre Dame hasn’t played anybody…okay, so Notre Dame beating a now 9-2 Stanford team that beat the Oregon Ducks on their home turf isn’t impressive…so how about beating Oklahoma on the road 30-13 isn’t impressive either? A place where Bob Stoops was 79-4? So what if the Irish don’t win 40-14 every time. A win is a win and they have held 5 of their 11 opponents without a touchdown. Impressive no matter who you play.
You keep suggesting Florida as Georgia’s huge win, but even they needed a blocked punt to beat Louisiana-Lafayette. Thats the beauty of college football…you never know and you won’t until you play the game.
Your posts are thought provoking, PLEASE, JUST BE FAIR…regardless how much you love your Dawgs. I never once said anything negative about the Dawgs and I did not say their defense was bad, as you suggest in your last post. They are actually playing great football right now and not a moment too soon as Alabama awaits.
I’m a fan of college football Thomas

ShadeTree, you can answer it how ever you prefer, but you’re left with comparing coaches 14 years long or 18 years longer in total than what Mark Richt has done while he’s been our coach, sir. During the time, Steve Spurrier, Mark Richt and Mack Brown have coached together, they have all consistently done WORSE than Mark Richt.
Haven’t they ?
You can be a fan of college football, and so can we all.

You’re purposely dodging the question, as you obscure the facts that what Mark Richt has done has not been matched by any other coach because the KIDS TODAY LOVE MARK RICHT and have all 12 years.
It is not a hyperpole to say that Mark Richt has recruited better and sent more to the NFL than anyone.
I like a good college football banter as well as anyone ShadeTree; only I do insist that those whom I carry on such banter on the Internet have posted before, answer direct questions, and address this point.

Yes, you’re right, of course : It’s no mystery; you prefer to hide whom it is you root for while you try to make it stick that I am biased in favor of UGA because I have seasons’ tickets, have been to 17 Florida Georgia games in JAX, go to the bowl games, go to every game at the Georgia Dome, and actually know what the hell I am talking about.
I am not biased, and you are. Only you steadfastly refuse to admit who you root for
for obvious reasons.
Your team does NOT have a coach whom the kids like more, and therefore your team you do root for has worse recruiting than Mark Richt and does not send as many in the NFL Draft as Mark Richt.
Just don’t be watching the NFL Draft after this 2012 season, because there will be NO COLLEGE in the world with more NFL Draft Selections since 2001 when he became our coach.
All your BS to the contrary unable to address except that I need to pull my head out of MY alma mater’s behind long enough to breathe when you are wholly unable to make your point that anyone has done better than Mark Richt in recruiting rankings or NFL Draft Picks except Southern Cal who has recruited higher ranked recruiting classes starting 2001 than he has, but will have NOT had more NFL draft picks AFTER the 2012 season’s players are drafted, unless Southern California can come up with 10 NFL Draft Selections from this year’s team.
And, YOU didn’t even point that out.

The Tech fans (or whoever) on here proclaiming UGA has no chance against Bama – do any of you actually watch football or are you going purely on reputation?
Bama’s defense is well-coached and disciplined, but the talent is simply not there. They lost their best 5 players and they do not have real playmaking ability. On offense, The O-Line is great. No question. But they have not played a team with the kind of ability to get into the backfield of UGA. LSU took a huge step back on that front, and as good as TAM is, it is not comparable. McCarron is basically David Greene – he rarely makes mistakes, he is a capable, accurate passer with occassional flashes of brilliance, but the pure physical skills are not there.
Ed Lacy is a very good, very strong RB, but he is no Trent Richardson.
Will Bama be the favorite? Yes. Should they be? Yes. Are they an unstoppable force? Heck no.

Bama beat # 7 LSU
Dogs beat # 4 Florida
No one else in consideration has a win as good as either, already – other than Florida who has beat already # 7 LSU, # 8 Texas A and M and # 12 South Carolina.
Pitt is 4-6 and Notre Dame called itself a team of Destiny because it beat them in triple OT.
Georgia, Florida and Alabama are all 3 dominant teams, but only 1 has an Aaron Murray, a Jarvis Jones, a Todd Gurley and an Alec Ogletree. Alabama has all these freshmen at key positions 2012. Florida has they say Jeff Driskel for Florida State, but on his best day, he is no Aaron Murray, either.
4 teams in the discussion and no one has beat a better team than # 3 UGA beating # 4 Florida. # 2 Alabama beat # 7 LSU. # 1 Notre Dame beat # 8 Stanford but Stanford also lost to 4-Loss Washington or they would be 5-Loss Washington. Florida beat # 7 LSU too, and # 9 Texas A and M and # 12 South Carolina, but lost to # 3 Georgia.
I love The SEC; it’s always fun looking at the details of The SEC compared to podunk nothings of a football team every year running onto this blog and bragging how great their team is that year and how badly The SEC has done this year compared to their own pitiful records.

I normally root for Tech in this game but I am looking at the big picture and would like to see GA have a shot at the NC. With the game here in Atlanta, they will have a home field advantage and I think Alabama can be beat; the aura is gone after the TAMU loss.
Either team should be Notre Dame in a BCS championship, in fact I believe every team in the top ten can beat ND, they are shaky. However, they deserve to be number one because they are undefeated and beat the Stanford team that beat Oregon who I thought was the best team in the country. I knew Oregon was in trouble when they did not score in the 1st quarter, the players were already feeling nervous.

Georgia’s Opponents 2012, not including unknown bowl opponent. are 56-55 a winning record. This was achieved over this past weekend. Another even 10-2 bowl opponent, would move us to # 39 Official NCAA Strength of Schedule for 2012.
Most importantly about # 39 SoS is that we have ALREADY beat # 4 Florida.
Business at hand is beating 10-1 Alabama, not 6-5 Georgie tek fixing to end 6-8.
I certainly do hope that we’ve been concentrating our coaching staff on how to prepare us for winning our 3rd SEC Championship in 2012, a year that definitely is NOT a down year for The SEC with 3 teams of the top 4 vying for a spot in the BCS NC Title Game.
We don’t need to deflect the conversation from the important Alabama game. Yes, something comes with that. That, today, is a Notre Dame team without any Aaron Murray. Anyone who has watched Notre Dame, knows that they most certainly do NOT have an Aaron Murray.
BEAT BAMA. And, to those who not know, in 63 games, Alabama has only beat us 36 times – for the best record against Alabama of any of their opponents all-time. And, we have every opportunity having known all this since we beat # 4 Florida at the stadium where they play the Gator Bowl by converting on that 3rd Down to put away Florida, unlike 2002 when we went 0-11 on 3rd Downs against Florida and did NOT get to play in the BCS NC Title Game that year because of it. All we needed to win that day in 2002 vs Florida was 1 of 11 on 3rd Down Conversions on the last play of the game.

I realize that at the 11-game mark too BIG MIKE. But, 8 seasons of 10-Wins in 12 years is during 14-game seasons, and that most clearly is NOT a proper comparison to 11 or even 12-game seasons, now is it ? Honestly ?

11-1 meant something in 1942.
11-0 meant something in 1946.
10-1 meant something and we did that several times.
11-1 meant something.
Now, 13-1 means something.
It could again. And, it will mean something if we do BIG MIKE.
But, 10-4 last year ? That doesn’t mean a thing to anyone.

Hey Jeff – Who foresees this? History does. Go back and see what kind of seasons Dooley had in 1979 and then in 1980. Look at Auburn 2009 and 2010. Look at ‘Bama 2007 and 2008.
Believe it or not, good years frequently (and INEVITABLY) follow bad ones.

That’s what I said…If UGA had not responded the way they did, then it’s time to start seriously looking at making a coaching change. That stands. Now with respect to my current comments, I also said after the UGA/FL game when everyone was saying UGA didn’t stand a chance against BAMA, that BAMA was not unbeatable, they have weaknesses (they were beaten by TX A&M shortly after). In fact, I believe UGA and BAMA are almost mirror images of each other.
I also knew going into last year, what UGA had talent wise and that they should win the SEC and could win the NC GAME. What happened against USC was inexcusable at that point in the process, but like the UGA team that won the NC in 1980 despite a last second game tying kick against CLEMSON (UGA 10-0-1). They bounced back stronger than they were when they went in.
I guess to answer your question…”who was I addressing”: All the bloggers that call for richt’s head everytime he 1) farts in the wrong direction. 2) Doesn’t beat the living hell out of opponents with half their talent (Like Oregon did all year)…..3) Doesn’t rant like a blithering idiot when things don’t go his way…..in other words every week.

I have to correct something.. In 1980 UGA finished the regular season 11-0, not 10-0-1. My bad. It was South Carolina that they barely beat with a last second field goal. In fact they barely beat Tennessee in the first game that season (score 15-16 UGA). Anyway, you could break down FBS champions going back as far as you like and very few were dominant throughout the season. The real problem I had with the UGA-USC Game was that I don’t remember a Dawg team not showing up to play in a game of this magnitude, that flat. And that truely concerned me about the coaching staff.
