Georgia wins SEC East — and looks like threat to Alabama (UPDATED)

It was a night of celebrations for Todd Gurley, Aaron Murray and the Bulldogs. (Brant Sanderlin/AJC)

(UPDATED: 11 a.m. Sunday)

AUBURN, Ala. – This is the place where few expected Georgia would be after that ugly night in Columbia last month — not only winning games, but winning them impressively, humiliating an opponent on its home field. This is the place where many may have projected the Bulldogs to be before this season began, but certainly not since (because even Buffalo looked like a greater threat in the season opener than Auburn did Saturday night).

This is where Georgia is today: SEC East champions for the second straight season … and, yes, as improbable as it might once have seemed, a legitimate threat to beat Alabama in the Georgia Dome in three weeks.

Doubt it?

Why?

The Bulldogs thoroughly dominated Auburn 38-0. Georgia fans chanted, “SEC, SEC” in the second half. They were easy to hear because because by then most of the Auburrn fans had left.

Maybe body-slamming Auburn no longer is considered a monumental achievement for an Auburn opponent. The Tigers, two years removed from the BCS title, suddenly look two levels removed from Division 1. They’re having their worst season (2-8, 0-7) in 60 years.

But this isn’t a one night aberration. Georgia (9-1) has won four straight since the loss to South Carolina. It has won the last three by a combined score of 92-19.

A touted defense that looked out of sync for much of the season has allowed just one touchdown and four field goals in the last 12 quarters. Aaron Murray, who had three first-half touchdowns against Auburn, doesn’t look anything like the quarterback who had three first-half interceptions against Florida.

The Dogs run the ball. They stop the run. They’re not committing turnovers or dumb penalties.

While Georgia is ascending, Alabama is sputtering (relatively speaking). The Crimson Tide was fortunate to escape Baton Rouge last week with a win, and was upset Saturday by conference newbie Texas A&M — in Tuscaloosa.

“It’s been unbelievable,” said Murray, who celebrated his 22nd birthday. “Most teams might fold [after the loss to South Carolina] and think, ‘They’re going to win all of the rest of their games and our chances of making the SEC are slim.’ But we know anybody can win any week in SEC. South Carolina lost a couple, we beat Florida and now we’re heading back to Atlanta.”

Murray, who has been a different quarterback since Florida week. When he got to the team hotel, he found balloons and chocolate covered strawberries decorated like footballs, sent by his parents. He and teammates immediately scarfed them down.

His parents did not make the trip. His father, Denny, underwent surgery for thyroid cancer last month and recently underwent radiation.

“My dad had some radiation and he can’t be around people right now for three or four days, so he had to stay back,” Murray said. “Sad. First game he’s missed since I was like eight years old. He wanted to be here, I wanted him to be here, but it’s the best thing for him.”

There will be a bigger game upcoming for Murray’s parents to attend. Players and coaches generally limited their comments to the final two regular season games against Georgia Southern and Georgia Tech, not yet looking ahead to Alabama.

But safety Bacarri Rambo acknowledged, “I’m sure some people didn’t think we would [be in this position]. I’m sure a lot of people still doubt us. But we feel we can beat anybody.”

And even the coach Mark Richt said Georgia is no longer focused on winning just the conference title. A berth in the BCS bowl game is possible, although the Dogs would need to win out and get some help from the teams ahead of them in the rankings (losses by two of the following three: Kansas State, Oregon and Notre Dame).

“Atlanta is not the end of the road, we hope,” Richt said.

They did not respond well to an early hole in Columbia. But now for the first time, they are playing with a sense of momentum. They’re playing with an edge.

Assuming no hiccups against Georgia Southern and Georgia Tech, the Dogs nonetheless will be underdogs to Alabama in the Georgia Dome.

But this Tide team suddenly looks beatable. It was fortunate to beat LSU 21-17 win last week. On Saturday, Texas A&M made its first conference game trip into Tuscaloosa and won 29-24. Alabama allowed 418 yards in offense and forced three turnovers. (Auburn fans were grateful because when the Alabama score was flashed on the scoreboard it gave them something to cheer about it. That won’t cheer again until coach Gene Chizik’s firing.)

Two years ago at this time, Auburn was on the way to an undefeated season and Georgia was on the way to the Liberty Bowl (and lost).

Richt was at his absolute bottom in terms of how he was perceived by the fan base — at least until losing to Boise State and South Carolina last season.

When asked recently about handling the dramatic turn in fortunes, he said, “You just know it’s a part of the business. You’ve got to keep believing in what you do, keep grinding, keep evaluating what you do, because if you need to make a change, you make a change. Maybe you need to recruit differently or train differently in the offseason or try something different schematically. If you just totally abandon what you believe in and try to be something you’re not, you’re done.”

Georgia isn’t nearly done. A defense that underachieved so much of the season is now stuffing opponents.

Then there is Murray, he of the egged house following the loss to South Carolina and the three-interception first half against Florida. He completed his first 10 passes against Auburn. By halftime he had already thrown for 186 yards and three touchdowns.  He completed an 18-yard touchdown pass to Tavarres King, just after getting knocked to the ground by Auburn linebacker Cassanova McKinzy, which forced Murray to leave the game for a play. His threw a 56-yard strike to King, setting up Todd Gurley’s six-yard score.

This isn’t the same team we’ve watched for most of the season. It’s a team playing like a legitimate threat to Alabama and any other team in the BCS rankings.

And that’s something few could have seen coming.

We will see. Great win tonight to clinch the East, but I’m still not sure who we have really beaten this year…The Gators were dominated by UL Lafayette for 59 minutes and 51 seconds today….surely beating Awbern is nothing to write home about, is it?

Don’t get me wrong, I would surely rather win than lose, but I’m 10 games into the year and I don’t know how good we are.

Do you?

Now they have to shift gears for a couple of games defensively. They have two option teams in a row with Ga Southern and Ga Tech. They should win both, but its going to test them mentally. Offensively, UGA is looking as good right now as I’ve seen since Stafford and Moreno in 2007 or Shockley in 2005. They have Murray and the pass game clicking and the running game is an absolute miracle turn around with Gurley and Marshall. Great win. Congrats to Richt on yet another fine season.

ESPN has already staked their position on the possibility of UGA, should they win out, playing in the BCS Championship Game – no dice unless two out of three of the undefeated teams lose, and probably not even then. Any other team that wins the SEC with a 12-1 record would be playing in that game, and it would be because ESPN gave their blessing. They pulled the same crap in 2007. Their bias is so overt it almost reduces their credibility.

BankerDawg, Georgia can’t control who they play in their own division and besides, they beat Florida when they were ranked #2 in the BCS, so they’ve more than proven themselves.

It wouldn’t matter if Alabama had a loss or not, the only chance Georgia has of making the national championship is for Notre Dame and Kansas State to both lose and for the Dawgs to win the SEC title.

We can only lament why the playoffs can’t start this year..

Bwahahahha. Win a couple games in a row in blowout fashion with the softest schedule in the SEC and you quickly forget that UGA has played one good team and lost in a rout. If you try real hard maybe you can forget that it ever happened. Just a little tip; park close the exits at the GA dome so you can get out quicker in the third quarter.

I find the musings of the hoi polloi quite amusing. Whether it be the supposed UGA fans or the stalkers from other schools. Despite your slant the bottom line is that Mark Richt coached teams have won 6 SEC East Championships in his tenure which is a record to be admired. Certainly, it could have been better for all of you people who claim to be UGA supporters but all you do is hate or the schedule could have been tougher the last two years for all of you stalkers. It’s time to give praise to Richt and his teams for what they’ve done rather than what you expected in your warped minds. Do the math and you’ll figure out that no team in the East has won as much as Richt in his tenure. Certainly things could have been better but they are what they are so either acknowledge that your team has a pretty good coach or please, and I mean this seriously, crawl back under the rock from which you emerged (or go back into your mother’s basement) because you are embarrassing yourselves. Richt has his faults but he is a tremendous spokesman and figurehead for the entire University of Georgia. Virtually every school would be proud to have this good man leading their program. If you (and I mean both UGA fans and the stalkers) can see past your venom you’ll agree that he wins his share of games and leads by example and teaches his players right from wrong. If you don’t agree you simply point out how much of a moron you truly are.

Wouldn’t bother me a bit as unlikely as it is to play SC again in a bowl. Would love another shot at them and their old hemroid ridden bag of cr_p HC.

Don’t be fooled by AL’s loss to A&M. Murray isn’t the runner that Manzel is. Not sure GA will be able to run the ball on Bama’s D. That’ll put it all on AM if he has the time to find his receivers. If he can’t and GA goes 3 and out too often our D will tire very quickly as AL still has the best running game bar none. GA will have to have a stellar performance in all facets of its game to beat AL. That would wipe away the ugly game they had vs SC. Stay healthy and GO DAWGS.

Why should Bama be favored against us? Their signature win is against an offensivley challenged LSU team ranked 5th. Their bad loss is to a 15th ranked Texas A & M team. Our signature win is against 2nd ranked Florida and our bad loss is against 6th, again 6th rank South Carolina.

Bama has not played a tough schedule and this year’s team has rode on a reputation of dominance more so than actual dominance. Still is a very good team and very well may win SECCG but nowhere near the 2011 team. If they are favored, it will be because of Bama’s reputation and not because they are better.

Does Bama have some weaknesses Georgia can exploit? Absolutely. But are the Dawgs mentally tough and disciplined enough to beat Bama? That I’m not so sure. I just can’t get that South Carolina A$$ Whipping out of my head. I would love to get behind this team, but I have seen the Mark Richt Car stall out far too many times. Bama has proven that when they get punched in the mouth, like they did today, they have enough pride to fight back and make it respectable. UGA has shown that when they get punched in the mouth, they fall apart and lose by 30. Sorry, not buying the Bulldog hoopala until they prove it vs. a team like the Crimson Tide.

The SEC is about to take 6 of the top 11 places in the BCS standings but because we do not have a play off teams like Kansas State, Notre Dame and Oregon will probably get to play the Championship games or other BCS Bowl games without having to beat one of these six SEC Power teams.
There is one way to keep the best SEC teams from proving that other high ranked teams from other Conference aren’t really in the same League as the best in the SEC. JUST DON’T PLAY THEM.
Can’t wait for the BCS to do the right thing and set up an 8 team playoff but there can’t be any restrictions as to how many SEC teams can participate. The top 8 get’s to go .

My complaint about the SEC having 6 teams in the top 11 and not getting to play for the National title possibly , is because teams like Kansas State don’t even have to play a Conference Championship. They are a lot more legitimate than Notre Dame where they don’t play in a Conference and therefore will never have to play an extra game for a Championship of a Conference. Because of the Conference tie-in’s these three will probably avoid having to play ant SEC team. Maybe an SEC power team verses Notre Dame in the Sugar.
The point is when a team has to play 5 or 6 teams of the final BCS rankings and just because they only have one lose they do not get to play in the National Championship game is screams at the BCS to bring in an 8 team playoff next year so we can crown the real BCS Champion because the real Champion this year probably will not get to play in the Championship.
It is my opinion that Kansas State or Notre Dame would lose to Alabama, L.S.U., Texas A&M, South Carolina and Georgia and maybe Florida. Oregon would lose to Alabama, L.S.U. and maybe Georgia or South Carolina.

Georgie tek’s new defense isn’t any good, now is it ? 50 points they gave up today. Sad and still on NCAA Probation in Football for Major Infractions Database, back-to-back, repeat Offenders. I see they are trying call the face-lift on Alexander Memorial Coliseum a “new” basketball gym. No. No, it is not. It is a new facility built around Alexander Memorial Coliseum and will pale by comparison to the new gym we will build.

A new gym is a new gym.

I wish I were wrong about Texas A and M beating Alabama; unfortunately, I was not. Texas A and M will jump way-up in the polls to # 9, giving The Mighty SEC now 6 of the top 9 teams.

The Mighty SEC :

# 3 Alabama
# 5 Georgia, who expand their lead over Florida
# 6 Florida
# 7 LSU
# 8 South Carolina
# 9 Texas A and M

You want to explain to me again how a conference, the strongest the conference has EVER been with 6 of the top 9 teams, gets locked-out of the National Championship Title Game ?

No.

No, you cannot.

All you can do is to say that I said that Florida was not going to be that great a team 2012, and that I still say that despite their # 6 ranking. And, you say that while you yourself said NOTHING BUT HOW BAD FLORIDA WAS GOING TO BE 2012, YOURSELF. You say that I was wrong saying how bad Florida was going to be 2012, while you said exactly the same yourself if not worse; and want to pick on me about guaranteeing Texas A and M was going to beat Alabama behind Johnny Football who was offered scholarships by Stanford and Oregon. Johnny Manziel is The SEC Player of The Year. Clowney cannot get that Award, Jarvis Jones cannot get that Award, and AJ McCarron cannot get that Award.

Now, we face-off against 2 teams who neither one believe in the forward pass, when what I expected in my 12-2 season prediction was that we would beat Florida, lose to Alabama, and lose to South Carolina. Now, it was not so much we lost, but how we lost, that matters the most.

Yes, there is a strong anti-SEC sentiment.

It is NOT based-upon the BCS Rankings however, not with SEC having now 6 of the top 9 BCS ranked teams.

I still guarantee that The SEC will get our representative in the BCS National Championship 2-team Play-Off Title Game.

I firmly believe The SEC is the strongest conference in this nation, according to everyone in this great nation. I still any firmly convinced you cannot have 6 of the top 9 and not be in The Game, while the other conferences have in-fact 1 of the top teams and no other teams of relevance.

Notre Dame struggled again against yet another hapless opponent.

SEC beats up each other. Duh. It is what we do. It is what we’ve always done. It is why The SEC is the Best Conference.

The SEC has NEVER had 6 of the top 9 teams.

NEVER.

We are stronger 2012 than ever.

We are the strongest conference by a huge wide margin.

Proponents of the “all regular season games in college football” means everything, and it doesn’t matter if the best team you beat is ranked # 20, if you are undefeated, you play for the NC, can espouse this “theory” they hold dear as many times and from as high a mountaintop as they can locate.

There will ALWAYS be the sobering thought to them which they cannot entertain that excuse me, Notre Dame’s best win is # 21 Southern California, Oregon’s best win is # 21 Southern California, and Kansas State’s best win is # 24 Choklahoma.

You can TRY to tell everyone how great those teams are all you want.

The PAC-12 is a JOKE compared to The SEC.

The Big XII with 10 teams is a JOKE compared to The SEC.

What Notre Dame’s schedule looked in July, is a JOKE now compared to SEC.

Don’t tell me what Notre Dame’s schedule looked like in July, not now.

_______________
6 top 9 teams SEC
_______________

With all the national admiration The SEC enjoys, you think we’re going to sit back in our finest hour, ever, and let not even 1 of our brethren play for the NC ?

I will tell you this. You’re WRONG.

Yeah, it takes off a lot of luster for UGA to beat Alabama; but, for all the very reasons we could beat Alabama I have explained loudly for several weeks now – the facts are Alabama doesn’t have as good a win 2012 as UGA. Anyway, I said all along for the very same reason, Texas A and M would beat Alabama. Maybe the announcers couldn’t see it coming. I did. I said Johnny Football would throw the football over and run through Alabama’s Defense, himself.

How did I know ?

Because Alabama HAD BEAT NO TOP TEAMS.

Now, when you want to establish some street cred on this blog, and come in here and tell us about yourself that you went to this school, or none, played the game or not, lettered in any sport or not, or are a blowhard in your own mind bragging about what you have or have not done on the blogs here when you never even showed up with this handle DawgNole until just recently with your posts copying everyone else’s posts and telling them they misspelled a word, when what they tried to do when they came in here was NOT THAT, but to discuss college football.

You SIDE-TRACK the ENTIRE DISCUSSION.

I told the gentleman who posted his URL Link to some EXPERT and who established his STREET CRED with ME telling me he graduated from UGA which I could tell was true from how he said it that it was

_______________________________________
EASIER FOR AL BEAT TEXAS A&M & LSU
THAN UGA TO BEAT AUBURN & OLE MISS
________________________________________

Was that he was, well, JUST WRONG.

I said in reply to that post then on this blog several weeks back, and in every post since that Alabama was

MORE LIKELY to lose than UGA.

In fact, guaranteeing the win by Texas A&M over Alabama.

Johnny Manziel Johnny Football, I watched him all season. I studied him and his background. Not you. I figured this redshirt freshman is a DUAL-THREAT QUARTERBACK. Does he fit into the NFL ? No. But, this is college football. And, I figured it out that Johnny Football is The Man, has improved from game to game his redshirt freshman year, and would DOMINATE Alabama himself. Which is what he did. I wish he hadn’t. Just like I wish Alabama had not lost. That is not inconsistent on my part that I said he would and did because Alabama has beat no one.

Now, he has.

SIGNATURE WIN
________________

This is the 1st shut-out for Todd Grantham against an SEC team since Vandie 2010.

Not 60 to nothing, but pretty darn close. And, what is this Parker Welsh as back-up QB again tonight when the world knows we want his little brother to be wide-out for us a position of need 2013, I point out losing 2 senior starters at wide-out Marlon Brown, career now over; and Tavarres King.

Uriah LeMay is 6’ 2” of 4.54 speed, like his brother, who has soft hands and has been catching the balls from is older brother all his lifetime as now 1 of the top wide receivers in the country with 25 scholarship offers from the likes of Michigan, LSU, Georgia, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Nebraska, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech and South Carolina.

Mark Richt, do you not think they ALL will USE AUBURN GAME why Uriah Lemay should come to their school, where is not told one thing during recruiting and then NOT GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO IMPROVE ON THE FIELD ?

Parker Welsh is NEVER going to be our back-up QB. Not now, not ever. Christian LeMay has to learn as a REDSHIRT FRESHMAN. For God’s Sake Mark Richt and Mike Bobo, did you not see enough of Parker Welsh again tonight to cease and desist with the crap about feel-good stories for our WALK-ONS ? Put Christian LeMay in there against Georgia Southern early and let him throw some passes, and let him run when the other team does not know he is going to run. There is no upside to Parker Welsh.

Damn right I criticize the coaches and the players. And, for good bloody reasons.

While you criticize me for it, and cannot in your lifetime come up with a better guarantee than Texas A & M will beat Alabama on the strength of Johnny Football with scholarship offers from Oregon and Stanford who is deadly running and passing the football.

What word did someone misspell today, while you misspell words yourself you little Hitler who will never establish any street cred on this blog telling everyone they misspelled words, doing it yourself. Jeez Louise, what a little man. When you catch yourself going to everyone’s posts, and copying it and repeating their whole entire post, and then your 2-word reply is he misspelled “penalities” when he was trying to say how bad Florida looks with all their penalties and you unable to address his point, STFU, or someone will come in here and cram it down your freaking throat forever twit when all you have ever done as handle DawgNole which didn’t EXIST until recently is to copy someone’s entire post, re-post the whole entire post and tell them only with no discussion of their point whatsoever, that all you can tell them is how great a man you are with all this street cred you’ve built-up telling them they misspelled “penalities.”

Yes, The SEC is going to have 1 of our 6 of the top 9 teams in the nation in THE GAME.

Easier for ALABAMA to beat Texas A&M & LSU than UGA to beat Auburn and Ole Miss.

Alabama 21 LSU 17 great day by Zach Mettenberger told you
Alabama 24 Texas A&M 29, told you
Georgia 37 Ole Miss 10, told you
Georgia 38 Auburn 0, half right said 60 nothing

I said to the gentleman who answers questions of himself on the Internet, unlike you, that he needed to recalculate his ODDS of Alabama easier time beating LSU Texas A&M and UGA harder time beating Ole Miss Auburn that his PREMISE was incorrect and that his predictions therefore based-upon his stats were, well, just wrong to which he replied that he could recalculate them with slightly easier time for UGA and slightly more difficult for Alabama, but the results would be the same.

I said they would NOT.

Congrats to the DAWGS for winning the east but your chance of getting to the National Championship game just went out the window when Alabama lost. If Bama could have been 12-0 and DAWGS 11-1 in the SEC title game and the DAWGS win they could have made it to the NC game. It will take a miracle for that to happen this year. The SEC reign of National Tiltes is over. Oh by the way DAWGS remember one thing GAMECOCKS 35 DAWGS 7.

UGA fans are the last ones who should be talking about schedules. K State this, Notre Dame, that Oregon this……fact of the matter is that to this point, UGA’s schdule is a combined 54-56! It contains a win against a Buffalo team that is 3-7 in the mid atlantic, a win against florida atlantic which is 3-7 in the sun belt, and three teams from your so called power conference SEC that do not even have a conference win! Now you travel down to D2 next week for Ga Southern and you’ll be boasted again for another lame victory. You have played ONE balanced team and that was S Carolina. We all know what happened there. Florida was exposed yet again for having 0 offense and needed a block punt to beat Louisiana Lafayette. Yea, bark on dawgs. Your schedule is NO better than that of the 3 remaining undefeateds. Granthams first SEC shutout….wow, Auburn……powerhouse, now that’s what I’m talking about. What a joke!

bob smith,

We beat # 6 Florida. Kansas State, Notre Dame nor Oregon can FINISH their season having beat a team ranked that day in the BCS at # 6.

Yes, Georgia has been criticized bob smith for not playing LSU or Alabama this season. Excuse me, our next important game is Alabama ranked # 3 in the nation.

Who is Oregon going to say they beat ? # 21 Southern California for the PAC-12 CHUMPionship game ?

Who is Notre Dame going to say they beat, a 4-5 Pitt they beat in triple OT to prove they’re a team of destiny ?

Who is Kansas State going to say they beat, when with 10 teams all that is left after all these ranked Big XII teams LEFT the Big XII to join other conferences such as # 9 Texas A & M and ranked Nebraska in the Big 10 ? # 24 Choklahoma ?

To play in the nc game, you have to be able to say on THAT DAY, the last day of the BCS Rankings, that ACCORDING TO THAT POLL THAT DAY, you beat # what bob smith ?

Yes, UGA can talk about schedules, if we end up beating # 3 Alabama since we’ve already beat # 6 Florida.

Get over it bob smith, and address the question whatever team you are a proponent of. What team are you a fan of ? And, what damn team have they beat ?

Come on.

We know.

You can answer it.

To be the Best, you have to Beat the Best.

6 of the top 9 BCS Rankings SEC – bloody right we beat up on each other.

It is what makes us and the sport of college football so great.

This is not Todd Grantham’s 1st SEC Shut-out, it is his 2nd, having shut-out an SEC team in 2010 : Vandie.

Our schedule INCLUDES bob smith, whether you can bring yourself to discuss it openly and honestly now with someone trying to work with you on your post : Florida.

Florida beat # 7 BCS Ranked LSU
Florida beat # 8 BCS Ranked South Carolina
Florida beat # 9 BCS Ranked Texas A & M

You want to talk about whom those teams BEAT bob smith ?

No.

I didn’t think so.

If you are going to come in here and discuss this, then tell us what team you represent ?

The Mighty SEC has 6 of the top 9 teams in the nation in our finest hour : 2012.

We’ve NEVER been that strong.

Yes, we beat up on each other.

You will NOT do to us what you did to Auburn in 2004.

Oh, they played this weak team. Our schedule no better than Notre Dame.

EXCUSE ME bob smith,

Notre Dame’s best hope for their best win is over # 21 Southern California with 5-LOSSES.

Oregon’s claim to fame is the same Southern California.

And, Kansas State’s claim to fame is # 24 Choklahoma who ends the season with 5-LOSSES too including their annual Bowl Swoon.

Look, Auburn was jobbed in 2004.

Looking back, everyone now says Auburn IS the national champion 2004.

Quite obviously.

What was your criticism THAT DAY bob smith ?

That Auburn played Louisiana Monroe, Citadel, and Louisiana Tech.

Auburn won 5 games 2004 against teams who made the AP Poll Top 25 and two (2) who made the AP Poll Top 10.

Better than ANY team 2004 by a large wide margin.

Anti-SEC fans should at least grow a pair big enough to go to a SEC blog and say, as a fan of team X, I think The SEC isn’t any good.

You guys play cupcakes just like my team x.

However, bob smith, what you are wholly proving you are unable to do is to come in here and say I am a fan of team x as you can tell from my handle bob smith, and I think The Mighty SEC is

“so-called POWER CONFERENCE.”

These are your words bob smith.

The fact still remains we have a better win over BCS Ranked today # 6 Florida with wins themselves over # 9 Texas A & M I told you recently would grow hairs for Florida, # 8 South Carolina whom they faced WITH my hero Marcus Lattimore. How is he please ? And, with Florida’s win over # 7 BCS Ranked LSU.

This is a BETTER WIN than Alabama 2012, which is why I predicted (1) Texas A & M beats them and (2) We would beat them, but I add now that we MUST NOT DO what I read 1 of our players saying this morning in the paper that we would. If we continue this, and 1 is way too many, we will NOT beat Alabama.

Otherwise, if we just shut-up and quit running our mouths, for the reasons I have been espousing for us and Texas A & M beating Alabama, we will because they have all their Freshmen at KEY STARTING POSITIONS.

Two of the three remaining undefeated teams have to lose in order for UGA to get to the BCS NC game. There is simply no way an undefeated team of a major conference is turned away in favor of a one-loss team. There is absolutely no way Notre Dame will be turned away in favor of a one-loss team. UGA’s biggest problem is how badly it lost to USCe. It also was very unimpressive against UK and gave up a ton of yards and points to UT. This all remains just speculation. Play the games and let the chips fall where they may. The point remains though – - should it win out, UGA will not be given the nod over an undefeated major conference or Notre Dame team.

Yes, it was how we lost. I am not making excuses, but we did not lay down and quit and at least got the meaningless TD with Aaron Murray still playing at 1:55. That’s better than the vols Derek Dooley, not even trying at the end of the half or regulation when he had 42 seconds 2 time-outs he had not wasted and threw a screen pass for minus 3 yards and QUIT.

And, how did we respond ?

Did we show that we still wanted to play vs Marcus Lattimore and USCe ? At the very end, yes. Not until. And, every second since.

Thus Florida faced our BRUNT.

And, every team since.

We were relentless against Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, and will be against # 3 Alabama.

Imagine if the situation were reversed – - an undefeated SEC team denied a slot in the BCS title game in favor of a one-loss team from another major conference, or Notre Dame. The uproar would be worse than Auburn 2004. UGA’s best case is its loss was on the road. The automatic Teller machines lost twice at home, then beat Bama on the road. Bama lost at home – - something you should never do if you want to claim to be the best in the land. Bama’s loss did UGA no favors – - it only decreased the importance of the SEC title game.

Ga fans are the most amazing of the lot. Go back a month and its egg the QB’s yard and yell for MR’s head on a dawg platter. Go back 2 months and its more of the same against lesser opponents. The reason you beat fla is because it was a penalty and turnover fest. Whomever fell on the next ball or committed the next untimely foul was going to win or lose. This week its “we’ll win out and play for the BCS.” BLUF, you don’t have the D to win the big one. Alabama laid an egg last night. They won’t lay another one, especially in Atl.

Bama was still recovering from the LSU game – that game was a slug fest – A&M caught them on a good week – plus, they do have a good team. That’s the way it is in teh SEC – sometimes you lose the game the week before you play it – it’s a rough league and these kids often cannot recover in just a few days to play their best. It happens to all of us. that’s why fans need to step back every now and then and think about why things happen. The best teams doesn’t always win ~ that’s reality. I am more concerned with enjoying the next two games and then I will ponder the SEC CG. In any case ~ we are seeing our team having a good year – it’s fun. As for all of you idiots who seem to not have any teams worth rooting for and gave decided to camp pout here and attempt to rain on our parade – HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!! SEC EAST CHAMPS, BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2ND YEAR IN A ROW!!!! WHERE IS South Carolina? Where are the mighty Gators????? BRUJHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Say what you want – all of us had our chance to sew up the East and get it done and GEORGIA is the ONLY ONE that got it done! Woo Hoo!!!!

All these comments after beating Auburn? It may have clinched the SEC East but Auburn is a terrible team. Everyone celebrating and berating fans for being angry after the SC loss need a reality check. UGA has a long way to go in winning a NC and still hasn’t beat anyone of major consequence (UF is clearly not the team we thought they were a few weeks ago). I like the passion on the field but we’ve seen that before enroute to disasterous games in the GA Dome.

Regardless of Alabama’s record – I dont think it would be plausible to jump 2 or 3 undefeated teams even after beating a notionally undefeated alabama. It would have made the case exponentially easier – BUT – we still need help from USC vs Notre Dame, Texas vs. K-State, and/or Stanford and Oregon State vs Oregon (none of these are well beyond the realm of possibility). Dawgs need to win out, and then let the chips fall where they may. Even if it doesn’t shake out – say Oregon goes to Miami vs K-State……..a Sugar Bowl game vs Norte Dame would be pretty damn fun.

I know there are going to be people that compare UGA’s loss against USC and Bama’s loss agains A and M. Both UGA and Bama were punched in the mouth early, UGA rolled over and played dead while bama fought back. While I wish UGA would’ve done the same, there is one major difference between the two games, UGA played at USC and when they got punched in the mouth the crowd became a big factor. If Bama would have played at A&M would the 12th man had done the same thing? I don’t know, and I still don’t want to give UGA a bye for rolling over and playing dead, but it is something to think about.

The deal concerning the GA defense is two things: 1. the suspensions. It took a while to get in sync and to play hungry. 2. Enter S. Williams. Playing with little or no intensity and almost losing to a team who has fired their coach already………

Williams should be awarded something big. Further, there should be an annual award in his honor. Call it either the “Soft” award or maybe the “Hard A$$” award. But UGA now plays like it wants something. It’s playing the way Grantham had em playing last year. The way GA always played for Irk!

How does Oregon go to # 1? Why were the not ranked higher in the first place? How can Bama lose a game at this time in the season and remain higher ranked than GA? I don’t get this.

Thomas, I have no problems admitting that I am a tech fan. I also have no problem living in reality. I know we are playing D2 football with our D2 coach. Can’t stand it but it is what it is. But unlike the majority of the uga followers, yours is a false reality. Your last title was 32 years ago and every year you bark about pre season rankings and recruiting and blah, blah…..Where’s the hardware? You’re always quick to jump on the blogs and insult and criticize everyone else; when where’s the beef? A win against a florida team who is on a rapid descent ? A florida team that is ranked 104 offensively out of 120 schools? This is the reason why it is so easy for the fans of every other team out there to hate UGA. It’s the same thing every year. When y’all win your strength of schedule never comes in to play, but yet it’s always your biggest argument against all the other teams. You have to compare apples to apples. We all know schedules are set in advance and we can’t control them, but atleast acknowledge the talent level you beat!

This is going to be so good, here these dawgs sit licking their behinds and winning against mediocre teams. All the while Oregon, Notre Dame and K State keep winning. Now here the pups sit with Tech and Bama on the horizon and thinking they are national champions.

Assuming you beat both of them in addition to the scrimmage game you also have left, where will you be sitting? In the same old spot. It’s called the outside looking in.
What a funny thing, the national championship is going to come down to three teams Notre Dame, K State and Oregon. Two of those teams will be playing while the pups are sitting there leg humping and crucifying Richt for costing them their chance. He lost the SC game for them, then here come these same boards calling for his firing.
It’s such a joy to come here and while our country is falling apart at the seams because of the muslim we still have the opportunity to have such a good laugh at the expense of these dawgs.
So close, so close, so close and all you get to do is sniff at the opportunity. Shame shame shame all you dawgs sniffing at the wrong places, you have your noses at all these teams butts, but of course that’s what dawgs do, the sniff at each others behinds.

Shut the heck up all of you non-Dawg fans!!!! We do have a team to be proud of. I don’t care who you play, if you win your conference in the SEC, you have earned it. This conference is the toughest conference in the world and I guarantee you if any of the undefeated teams that are left played on either side of the SEC they would all have at least one loss!!!. Bottom line, in order to wind the MNC, you must have some luck…ie..Auburn vs BAMA 2 years ago, BAMA vs TENN, 3 years ago, and I can go on and on. Most importantly, LSU getting a gift last year for a rematch against BAMA after losing in the SEC championship game. If that had of been UGA we would have dropped to 10. The Dawg’s fait will be settled on the field and for those of you who think that UGA cannot match up against BAMA, please keep thinking this way. I would love for the TIDE to come into the ATL over confident. If UGA continues to play on the level that they have been playing, there is no doubt that they can play with anyone in the country, so shut the hell up and let’s wait and see what happens on the field!!! Oh Jeff Schultz,

Once again you’re drinking the Fool Aid and from the looks of the responding comments, so is Dawg Nation. CMR and UGA are the biggest teases in this country besides Pam Anderson and the Kardashian girls. Woooweeee, let’s see since Spurrier’s boys made us wear panties we beat the lizards (ok, they are 9-1 but have proven to have no offense) and listen to this murderer’s row of elite teams: UK, Miss, and Aub! Combined record, 8-22. And now you want to say that we are ready to go toe-to-toe with the Tide? Ohhh, I guess because we beat the lizards, and the lizards beat A&M, and A&M beat Bama, that means WE CAN BEAT BAMA! I see, it’s like connect the dots or the six degrees of separation kinda thing, huh? Please stop, Dr Schultz, you’re better than that. You forget one thing: Mike Bobo is no A&M Coach Kevin Sumlin, and that Manziel kid is Doug Flutie 2.0. He may not be a better passer than Murray, but he was able to hurt Bama with his legs. Did you see the Bama vs LSU game? That was real Grown Man Football! Everyone that follows the SEC knows that our beloved Dawgs are front runners. As long as we get off to a fast start, then we look pretty good. But if you hit us hard and early and get a turnover early in the game, we will crumble. You remember when Bama came to Athens in the Blackout Nite a few years ago. Well the Tide turned it from Blackout to KnockYourA#@Out night! Do you remember the SEC Championship game last year vs LSU. And now Saban will have a few weeks to prepare for our “offensive genius” Bozo. Bama will come in focused and with bad intentions. Murray threw three picks against the lizards; you do that vs Bama or LSU and it is a blowout. Please stop. UGA will come into the SEC title game with our typical “we’re just happy to be here” attitude because what school Pres Michael Adams and Dawg Nation loves is mediocrity! We are the Va Tech of the SEC. Do I even need to tell you our record vs Top 20 teams? ’nuff said. Let me end my comments with the statement all us Dawg fans instinctively spit out when we are confronted by a Bama/LSU/lizard fan about our nationally-televised Big Game failures: “Oh, you just wait til next year!”

“a legitimate threat to beat Alabama in the Georgia Dome in three weeks.”

I can hear Saban laughing uproarously right now (actually, not, he takes things seriously and will simply just prepare his team to whip Georgia good).

How many games have we WON versus how many have our opponents LOST? Watching last night’s game I saw a lot of what Auburn did badly (terribly) but not as much about what WE did well (we did actually kick the ball through the uprights all night – that is an improvement).

In the Florida game, we won because we only had three turnovers compared to their six (I will give credit in that game to Jarvis Jones – our one-man Georgia Team).

We are backing in again this year to a SEC East Title that in no way reflects Richt’s coaching ability – it is in spite of and not because of Richt.

Can we win the SEC Championship – yes, but only if we play our best and Alabama plays their worst. And maybe not even then. I for one do not see that happening.

I saw Alabama’s coach after the TAMU game taking full responsibility for his team’s loss – something you would NEVER see Richt do.

A&M caught Bama at the right time. Bama was flat and dug a hole they couldn’t get out of. Congratulations to the Aggies but Bama would beat them 9 out of 10 times. Trouble is you only play them once. Very impressed with Aggies QB. Still I will never understand why Bama didn’t run the ball in the last drive. If you can’t get 8 yards in 4 downs you don’t deserve to play in the NC. Saban got away from what has been so successful for him and the Tide.

BCS Champ is about the best TEAM. Offense + defense.

Notre Dame has the 74th ranekd offense in scoring.

Oregon’s defense is ranked 54th in total yards.

UGA-BAMA-K St, are the ONLY 3 TEAMS ranked in the top 20 in BOTH DEFENSE SCORING AND OFFENSIVE SCORING.

Let the winner of BAMA-UGA play K St, to figure out the best TEAM in the nation.

Notre Dame eeks out wins:
20-17 over Purdue
13-6 over Mich
20-13 over Stan
17-14 over BYU
29-26 over pitt

Not BCS Chanp level.

Give credit to A&M for playing almost a perfect game. Nick and Kirby made a big mistake early in the game buy not sending folks to pressure Johnny Football. The kid played like a champ. We will get 4 years of this dude since the only way he gets into the NFL is if he buys a ticket. Bama’s weakness is we don’t have a pure pass rusher in our defensive line thus we have to send the house to get pressue. Bama is a tired and beaten up football team with AJ really hurting. Bama will struggle the rest of the season. UGA is in very good position to win the SEC and I would say the favorite at this point due to condition of Bama’s injury situation. Folks don’t really understand the AJ deal. His delievery is more sidearm and there is a reason for just that. I hate to see the spread come into the conference but’s is coming. You have to recruit specialty type players (LB’s) to attempt to counter that and with 85 limits that is tuff. Nick and Kirby do a great job when playing the typical offense with a team for down and distance but when they counter the spread it becomes all most impossible for them to play at the same level and you have seen that vs Ole Miss and A&M. Mizzou isn’t bad either but they don’t have the talent or size yet to actually beat us.

The stage is set for Mark to have a banner year if he can beat Bama for recruits will see that as a real plus I would think. Bama fans are down in the dumps but really need to get over since Coach Bryant didn’t win them all and neither will Nick. Bama will be in the mix each and every year as long as Nick is at Bama. We’re loaded for 2013 already with 22 freshmen playing this year both regular and redshirt guys. You need some schedule luck and some injury luck to get to the big show and we didn’t have either this year. I would love to see 8 teams in the playoff instead of 4 because the SEC is going to miss the game othewise due to our teams killing each other going forward. I think the East will be just two teams going forward with UGA and UF being those two. The ole ball coach will be gone within 2 and that will take care of our good friends at USCe. UT has so much ground to cover that it’s now clear when they show will return.

Hey “Patched Tire On I-95 in Jacksonville”,

Florida has made a lot of opponent’s offenses look bad this year; including LSU and USC East. Bottom line, the Gators has a helluva defense, and their team has taken on the personality of their coach. Florida spanked LSU soundly but I dont see anyone mentioning this great win by the East. Yes the Gators struggled yesterday against a lesser opponent, but I am sure they were looking ahead to annual rival game with FSU. The Gators are legit, thus I give the Dawgs a big time QA win even if it was ugly. Remember, the Dawgs had to overcome 3 or 4 turnovers of their own during this game. Go Dawgs!!!

Too funny. Georgia beats up on a hapless AU team while Alabama loses a nailbiter to arguably the hottest team in the country and all of a sudden the dawgs think they can beat Bama. Only Alabama can beat Alabama. Texas A&M won because we had 3 turnovers while Tam had none. lSU played us tight because we had 2 critical turnovers while they had none. Both played largely penalty free also. The only prayer UGA has against us is if we uncharacteristically turn the ball over at least 3 times or more and if UGA can uncharacteristically play with no turnovers and few if any penalties like LSU and Tam. Otherwise you still have no chance.

Horrible loss today against A&M, but I will say Johnny Manziel is everything they say he is. Texas A&M didn’t beat Alabama, Johnny Manziel did. I was at the game and just shocked at his movement and footwork that eluded potential tacklers, an he simply won the game by staying away from pressure. They will be a force to be reckoned with unfortunately.

Georgia still doesn’t stand a chance against Alabama in my eyes. Aaron Murray is too turnover prone in big games, and Mike Bobo will call a vanilla game. Nick Saban won’t allow for another loss this year and will prepare unlike any other to fight back towards the top. I can’t wait to come back to Atlanta and visit old my old Bulldog friends and watch the game.

Steve Superior,

One player didn’t beat Bama alone. Our 3 turnovers didn’t help us out. The only way we can lose a game is if we have 3 turnovers or more while the other team has none. That’s how Tam won and that’s how LSU almost beat us. All things being equal its hard to imagine anyone beating us unless we have a really bad game turnover wise and they play flawlessly as Tam and LSU did in regards to turnovers and penalties. I can’t see Aaron Murray playing that type of game like Mett and Manziel did given his history of poor performances in big games. Even against UF he was saved by the fact that UF turned the ball over 6 times.

Still they ran thàt yapper, even though it was a close, well played game by the Tigers. Then a hungry, humble team from Texas, comes into Bama’s house and beats the brakes of of them. Carved them up like a Thanksgiven Day Turkey and spit them out like soured milktoast, lol. Bama finally plays a couple of good teams and gets thumped, yet their fans still run that yapper, LMAOFF. “Can Bama be rattled into making critical mistakes? They can, but who knows if they will.”

I know we made one critical mistake yesterday. We got away from a running game that was reliable at getting 5-6 yards a play grinding it right up the middle. When we had a first and goal at the 6 all we had to do was run the ball 3-4 straight plays right at the Tam defense. No way in hell they woulda kept us out of the end zone on 3-4 straight running plays. Why we decided to try and get cute and pass the ball is a mystery. Its not our identity. But that first year O-coordinator I’m certain will be hearing about it from Saban today.

kingdaddy,

Our schedule is ranked 14th in the nation while yours is ranked 40th so far. While you were playing Buffalo we were playing a team called Michigan. Maybe you’ve heard of them?

As for getting carved up I’m not sure if you just didn’t watch the game or if you’re just stupid. We were 2 yards from winning the game. Lemme help you out there son. 5 pts is a loss. Losing 35-7 is an asskicking. We may lose here and there. Everyone does. But we don’t get our asses kicked by 3 or 4 touchdowns. In the last 6 years we’ve lost a total of 3 games by double digits. One by 11 in the seccg against Florida in a game that we led going into the 4th qtr. And 2 games by 14. How many times has UGA been “carved up” or blown out by 20 pts or more in the past 6 years?

We’ve had Bama, LSU and our annual game against Ark over the years. Finally beat Ark, still have a problem with LSU and beat Bama year before last. So, I can honestly say that we have had a pretty tough schedule in the SEC.

Great to see you again. I kinda had a bad feeling about the Tam game from early in the season and I told my friends that it was a trap game cause it would be our 5th straight sec game but more because it would be coming a week after the LSU game which of course is a big, emotional game for both Bama and LSU. Still no excuse for losing to Tam. I think they just outplayed us for the most part. I just think it showed in the 1st qtr how flat we were when we went down 20-0. The whole team just looked out of syn on both sides of the ball.

Popped Alabama balloons all over the floor this morning: AJ Mccarron for Heisman? He is a field manager-style QB, not a play-maker. He’s solid but he is not a Heisman candidate.

Alabama is a sliver away from being a 2-loss team. They finally played a couple of good–not great–teams and they nearly lost to both. (Think Alabama has a creampuff schedule this year? Take a look at next year’s schedule–even more cream in the puff.)

In short, Alabama has been an over-ranked, over-hyped team all year.

Now what was that silly comment by Spurrier about being able to beat an NFL team? The silliest part is that some Alabama fans actually believed it.

You left out how horrible that Colorado team was. You also left out that Az state was 5-7 the year before playing UGA and I think finished about the same that year. And Ok. state at that point in time was still a middling big 12 team that had never won its division. As for Clemson I don’t remember you playing them recently. Perhaps you did. When was it? I do remember playing them when they came into the season ranked 8th back in 2008. We destroyed them. As for Boise what’s your point? They beat the living hell out of you.

So who have we played lately? How about Michigan which came into the season ranked in the top 10, a VT team in 09 that started the season in the top 10 and was a national title contender, a Clemson team that started out top 10 in 2008 when we played them, Penn state which was respectable the last 2 years. After we beat them last year they were 7-1 through the first 8 games before folding near the end of the season in the wake of the Sandusky affair.

We took on at least 3 teams that were preseason top 10 and beat em all convincingly. You played Boise which was preseason top 10 and they pounded you. Colorado and ASU? Puh-leeze.

Jet Puffed

SEC analogy = JET PUFFED. You know, the “fluffy, marshmellowy” topping.

2 great examples: Miss St & UGA.

Miss St played NOBODY, I mean NOBODY until the last 3 weeks in which they’ve gotten their butts handed to them by BAMA, Tex A&M, and LSU. Before that this SEC team “Jet Puffed” themselves to the #11 ranking by beating SEC foes Auburn, Kentucky, and Tenn along with a bunch of nobodys.

Now UGA … the Dawgs have “Jet Puffed” their way to the #5 ranking by going 1-1 vs. the only good teams they’ve played (now question just how good UF really is), and “flexing their muscles” vs. the collection of stiffs that include powerhouses like Kentucky, Tenn, Vandy, Mizzou, Ole Miss, and a slew of “we’ll take your $ to come to Athens and get clobbered” teams.

$$ is what drives every business. The NCAA/BCS is a business. The biggest $-grab is from the SEC constituents & its fans. Thus, Jet-Puffing SEC teams is a very good business decision. The majority of SEC fans are the “some of the people you can fool ALL OF THE TIME”

Congrats, Dawgs. Best of luck in the dome. Personally, I’m glad my Gators did not make it as our offense is inept. We could hold Bama to about 17-20 points, but we would be lucky to score 9 on them. Kind of like the UF/UGA game turned out. Sigh…
Anyway, once again…Congrats!

kingdaddy,

The point is that Michigan was expected to be a contender and hence the preseason # 8 ranking. That was why we scheduled them. Not our fault that they turned out to not be that good.

Steve,

Its obvious you don’t know wtf you are talking about. Many noncon games are scheduling years in advance. Many are not. We scheduled the Michigan, Clemson, and VT games on very short notice because we knew all 3 would come into the season preseason top 10. Gawd you are effing stupid. And also if you scheduled Colorado and ASU and Ok. state years in advance then you scheduled teams that were very mediocre when you scheduled them and were expected to continue to be mediocre later on. None of those 3 were exactly powerhouses when you scheduled them. All 3 were middling level teams. Damn you are stupid.

Bama Fans, You have one heck of a program and in my opinion the BEST recruiter in the country in Nick Saban. This years’ team is nowhere near as good as last years’ team nor 2009. Your secondary is talented but young and inexperienced except one guy. Your defensive front is not as dominant as 2011 and 2009. With all that said, you guys are a very good team but are very susceptible to a passing attack. I posted that after the Michigan game and most everyone who commented disagreed. LSU and A & M showed that. Why make excuses about why you lost yesterday? Your schedule this year was no tougher than ours. Your signature win is against a 5th ranked LSU team that until last week could not pass the ball at all. Your signature loss is against a 15th ranked, again a 15th ranked A&M team. Our signature win is against #2 Florida and our loss is against #6 South Carolina. By the way the pundits informed the whole nation how invincible Bama is, then your loss should be more despicable than our 28 pt loss. After all, Bama has the best players, coaches, facilities, fans, and all things football-the audacity to suggest you could beat an NFL team. Surely you should not lose to a college team. A&M should be 9th and Bama should be 10th but your reputation won’t let you drop that far. You lost, deal with it.

It’s not UGA’s fault that they have had, arguably, the weakest SEC schedule in the history of SEC play this season and last. It’s a shame when teams like this are “Jet Puffed” to higher rankings though.

Thank God I’m not a UGA fan (or SEC fan). It’s sad watching the NCAA & BCS dictate your life, what you do with your spare time, and on what you’re going to spend your disposable income.

I’ve got 8 tix to the SEC Champ game in ATL, Dawg fans …… prices start @ $1,000 each.
Who cares about your family & friends over the holidays, this game is BIGGER than all of that. It’s a 3.5 hour event that, all is said & done, you’ll swear $1,000 / ticket was a bargain. Think about it, you’ll be able to say to all of your friends, “I was there!”

Tide Rising, tough loss yesterday. It’s difficult to navigate unscathed through the SEC schedule this time of the season. 6 SEC teams in the top 12 of the AP poll that came out today says it all. You guys still have a shot at going to Miami.

LSU just played 5 Top 25 teams in a row which no other school in the nation has done thus far this season. If we can win out and win our bowl game then we will finish in the Top 5. I’ll be happy with that considering all of the injuries and attrition we’ve had this season.

Alabama lost yesterday, all teams eventually lose, but Alabama will not lose to Georgia. The SEC Championship will be just like last year’s. come out hot, then your gameplan I spoiled and get completely dominated. Aaron Murray will turn the ball over atleast twice. Alabama 35 Georgia 17. We’ll know in a few weeks. In the meantime, better watch out for Georgia Southern. Tough team. And I’m being 100% serious.

I was one of the doubters after the SC loss, because it was so complete in every area of the game. I am thrilled at the turnaround, beating Florida two years in a row, and now securing the SEC East Championship. I was also hoping to play an undefeated Alabama team with the hopes that a victory for UGA would put them in the BCS title game. LOL…You know your program is pretty good shape when the fans of other teams take pride in the fact that Bama can lose a game. JMO but the bar has been set so high for the Bama program that there is no way the kids can play and even just enjoy a win against anybody…yes just anybody. It will interesting to see how the season actually plays for Bama and UGA just might be in the drivers seat for the SEC game if Bama can beat auburn. You never know how a bunch of kids will react to missing out on their main goal just in 2008 when UF beat Bama in the dome. At that point it would have been better to skip the bowl game since it meant nothing to the playes even though that was a great bowl and trip. Bama is a tired and injuried football team. UGA has lost some folks as well that has hurt them big. Both Nick and Kirby shet the bed on the game plan vs A&M attempting that build a fence and hope the sun got in the eyes of Johnny B Good. Until we started sending folks after him we looked like Ned in the 1st grade reader. Bama is 57-7 since 2008 and that’s not bad and have been ranked #1 at some point in all 5 years which is strong even by the UGA standard…just saying.I sent a note to Mal that he best make an attempt to change the schedule spot for A&M since playing these guys after the yearly battle of LSU is not a great idea. We need 8 teams instead of 4 otherwise the SEC isn’t going to get a spot due to we will beat each other out of those slots.

Florida is gonna get beat by FSU. Probably 17-14 type game.

Georgia needs to get ready for Tech since they have found a QB who can throw a forward pass to his own team. That game will be fun. Shut down the TO and make them throw. Watch Murray have an absolute field day against GT D.

Georgia 49-28

The only way to shut these people up on both sides of the Richt argument is real simple.

Win the SEC

The rest is a beauty contest until the playoff comes in.

If we win the SEC and don’t get in the BCS title game, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Same for Bama.

I guarantee you UGA and Bama would curb stomp Notre Dame and Kansas State. Oregon is worthy of being in the game if they win out.

Yes Jeff, I doubt it. Saban is a much better coach than Richt. In fact, there are 4 other coaches in the SEC that are better than Richt. The Auburn game is the first game this season where all the components of the team showed up to play. You can never count on Richt to motivate the team to play a complete, dominating game. So which component do you think won’t show up – defense, offense, special teams? You can bet that Saban will have all his components ready and it will be a blow out just like last year with LSU.
