Predictions: Smelly, incompetent, soft Bullldogs win again

According to legend, and also Wikipedia, my two favorite sources when I have other things to do, the expression, “Eureka!” dates to the Greek scholar Archimedes, who noticed that when he stepped into a bathtub the water level rose and he exclaimed, “Eureka!” because, I dunno, “Wow,” just didn’t sound scholarly. Archimedes then continued this research into volume by seeing what would happen if he sat in a hot tub with five co-eds from Palermo State, but that didn’t work out so good, he lost his grant and now can be found teaching sociology at junior college in Poughkeepsie.

So last week, Georgia punched Florida in the mouth, and I’m certain I heard Mark Richt exclaim, “Eureka! No more Mr. Nice Guy!” See, because I’m sure the Bulldogs played tough because they were angry at being called “soft” by teammate Shawn Williams.

So coddling days are over. This week Richt called in appropriate inspirational speakers to address his players:

"Bring me the broomstick of Nick Saban!"

"Bring me the broomstick of Nick Saban!"

Oz: “You clinking, clanking, clattering collection of collagenous junk!”

Lucky Day (Three Amigos): “You sons of a Motherless Goat.”

Alexandra (Witches of Eastwick): “You’re physically repulsive, intellectually retarded, vulgar, insensitive, selfish, stupid, you have no taste, a lousy sense of humor and you smell.”

Groucho Marx: “Now there’s a man with an open mind. You can feel the breeze from here.”

Nino (New Jack City): “Sit your $5 (butt) down before I make change.”

Principal (Billy Madison): “At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. May God have mercy on your soul.”

Cyril Bench (Vertical Limit): “100,000 sperm and you were the fastest?”

French Soldier (Monty Python and the Holy Grail): “I don’t want to talk to you no more, you empty-headed animal food-trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries.”

There. That should do it.

The SEC East title gets a little closer. Georgia covers 14 against Mississippi.

An SEC first: a shirt to commemorate win over Kentucky.

Georgia Tech at Maryland: Last man out, don’t forget to turn out the light. Dan Radakovich left two days after the Jackets couldn’t score an offensive touchdown against BYU. Coincidence? OK, maybe. But if they can’t beat a Maryland team down to its No. 5 quarterback (a converted linebacker), Paul Johnson may be sitting alone in the dark. Jackets cover 7½.

Old Dominion at Georgia State: The Panthers kicked off a player, Isaiah Howard, who had ripped athletic director Cheryl Levick on Twitter. Fortunately, Howard already had an offer from Mensa. Old Dominion by two touchdowns.

Alabama at LSU: Alabama has won eight games by an average score of 41-8. A.J. McCarron: 18 TDs, 0 interceptions. So oddsmaker R.J. Bell of Pregame.com decided to set odds on how the

Gene Chizik (after the A&M game).

Tide would do against the worst NFL team. Pointspread: Jacksonville would be favored by 24. Question: Has he seen Mike Mularkey call plays? Bama covers 9½.

Missouri at Florida: Missouri commemorated its first SEC win like it was a moon landing. The T-shirt reads, “Oct. 27, 2012, Columbia, Mo: Caged the Cats!” Would’ve gone over better if it wasn’t Kentucky. Mizzou took so much flak that the shirt is off the market. But Kentucky is selling shirts that read, “Somebody made a shirt about us.” Gators cover 17.

Texas A&M at Mississippi State: Texas A&M didn’t make a T-shirt to commemorate its 63-21 win over Auburn last week. But I think somebody came home with Gene Chizik’s shorts. Aggies cover 6½.

America’s Meltdown at Falcons: The Falcons (7-0) probably aren’t a threat to the ‘72 Dolphins. Tony Romo (13 interceptions) probably isn’t a threat to George Blanda (season-record 42). But I’m starting to wonder about both. Dallas has one win in the last four and that came over Carolina, which doesn’t really count. Make that 8-0: Falcons cover 4.

Eagles at Saints: Suspended linebacker Jonathan Vilma and assistant coach Joe Vitt returned to the Saints last week and the team lost 34-14 to Denver. This is what it looked like when Custer rallied his troops. Take the 3 — and Eagles in a straight upset.

Steelers at Giants: This game is expected to go on despite the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Steelers fans are upset because Troy Polamalu is out again. Somehow, I don’t sense the same level of compassion. New York covers 3½.

Panthers at Redskins: DeAngelo Hall last week went cuckoo on a referee, got hit with two unsportsmanlike-conduct penalties, was ejected from the game and generally looked like the same overrated, petulant phoney we’ve come to mock. But hey, for $55 million, he puts on a show! Skins win, but take Carolina and 3½.

Even the best teams play flat at times. LSU beat Bama last year in the regular season and this year they play at home…at night. I really think this could be an upset especially if they get some deep completions to loosen up the run game.

I did not realize that the spread was 9.5 on the LSU/Bama game. Now before the Bammers on here get all upset at me saying this, it’s just an opinion wnd we all now what opinions are, but I think LSU has a good chance at pulling this one off. Week off, at B.R. revenge from last year. LSU has played UF & SCe. Bama has really not been tested. I think we are all getting ready to see how good Miss St is not.
Bama has a very good team, but of the possibilities of upsets for this Saturday I would have to go with LSU over Bama. Of course I have been wrong before.

To accuse the SEC of being overrated is simply laughable.

The reality is that the SEC is Alabama. They are very good and will probably win the National Championship. Outside of them, no one in the SEC is all that great and LSU at number 5 is a bit of a mockery of the rankings. I guess they have to be ranked that high though so that TV executives can build up the hype for game of the century part 14.

Usually teams get more respect if they actually earned their way in and didn’t just slip in the back door. In other words, the only purpose of an SEC east title is to gain a little respect, and the way UGA has done it the past couple of years doesn’t really earn any.

It’s in ESPN’s and the BCS’s best interest to fill the polls with SEC teams, and in many cases inflate some of the SEC team’s ranking. It’s ESPN who signed the giant contract with the SEC. Plus, the theatre that college football has become (i.e. $$) sells well amongst the SEC stadiums/fan bases that conitnue to pile into these gigantic cathedrals.

What other Conference has such a captive audience? By that I mean, audiences whose lives revolve around their football team. Many SEC teams are in small towns, with low quality of life (boring / no other entertainment options). It’s an EASY sell for ESPN, the BCS and $TV$.

The powers that be say that being in the SEC is respect enough, and there’s no reason to “earn” anything. Just go out each Saturday, fill your stadiums, make us TONS of $$, and we’ll take care of you. $$ is power.

Yes, UGA will “back their way into the SEC title” for a 2nd consecutive year, but you can’t blame them. To get to 2 consecuitve SEC title games the Dawgs went 1-2 vs. their only real threats (0-1 in 2011 – SC, and 1-1 in 2012 – SC & UF).

My guess is they will get beat fairly soundly vs. BAMA then more than likely lose to a good bowl opponent, finishing 11-3. The powers that be see 10 Ws in 2011 & 11 Ws in 2012, not 1-7 vs. the 8 quality opponents they will have played in the previous 2 seasons. UGA will start 2013 in the top 3 if not #1 if Murray, Jones & Co. return.

We just beat Florida who had beaten 2 top 10 teams. Like it or not, LSU and SC are top 10 teams.

You are missing my point. With the way that ESPN influences rankings these days the SEC is guaranteed to have several teams who beat “top 10″ teams. Especially early in the season when SEC teams are refusing to play quality competition out of conference. There are even a few outside of the SEC who benefit like La Monroe. They beat a top 10 SEC team. Yay for them. The rankings these days have become a business tool used for a specific purpose. They have no relation anymore to the actual quality of the teams ranked. You have to figure that out on your own.

Beano Cook'ed

B’dawg for Muschamp ….

UF sure didn’t play like a top 10 though. I don’t know how many teams can survive SIX turnovers.
Look what happened to UGA when they played a top 10 team (SC) who didn’t self-implode with TOs.

Unless Bama has a bunch of TOs too, the Tide will do similar, or worse, than what SC did to UGA.

So what if the schedule is weak. SEC teams have an ace-in-the-hole, they play in the SEC. Makes it fun for UGA fans/alumni. And the $$ thing I refer to ………. SEC title game tix could sell for a minimum $1,000 and the game would still sellout.

Then, if UGA were too beat BAMA, and somehow find their way to the NC game, whaddaya think, $2,000-$2,500 minimum UGA fans would spend in selling out that game?

ESPN/BCS is like Socialism to the SEC fan …. they got you, and you can’t do anything about it right now. Sad, but true.

Beano Cook’ed, I hear what you are saying and its entirely accurate, I just wonder how ESPN will approach things in the future. On one hand, they are about to sign a new contract with the SEC which will probably be a huge investment that they will want to protect. On the other hand, if they continue with their approach that the SEC is the only conference that matters and they continue to influence rankings with that approach then they run the risk of creating strong fan apathy in general and hurting college football going forward. I doubt they are thinking that far ahead though.

I hate to point out the obvious, but engaging with GT Bob is simply a waste of time. All he does is make statements that are designed to enrage UGA fans. He has nothing to add to any discussion. He is St. Simons with unlimited time on his hands. He can’t be reasoned with. I see most responses to him fall into three categories: attempts to correct him, attempts to insult him or his team, and attempts to reason with him. Attempts to correct him are useless because he doesn’t care if he is right or wrong. Attempts to insult him and his team are useless because he has already stated that his football team is awful. And finally, attempts to reason with him are useless because he does not care about reason. I have seen him singlehandedly hijack blog after blog with his comments. Would just like to point out that Sports Illusstrated has come out with a top 25 list of teams with kids that have criminal records. Everyone loves talking trash when a UGA player gets arrested but the funny thing is, UGA isn’t on the list. Tech, Fla, Bama, LSU, and FSU are on the list. So to all the UGA haters, a BIG GFY is in order especially you GTbob.

Beano- Granted the TIde beat Miss. State soundly but check Miss State’s schedule before they played Alabama. It was much softer than UGA’s

Its not just who Alabama is beating right now. Its how they are winning. There are no close calls, they are not struggling, they are just blowing teams out without much effort. They have the best defense in the country and a decent offense. Nobody in the SEC will come close to them.

I hate the SEC too…but am man enough to admit that the best team in the SEC for the last seven years was better than anyone else’s…and in some years, their top 2 teams were better. I don’t buy into the idiots that say “if such and such team was in the SEC, they would get one win a year” or “if Florida was in the Big 10, they would win it every year”. But at the end of the day, results are results and you just look like an idiot arguing where the best team is. “In order to be the champ, you have to beat the champ”. I haven’t argued against the fact that the SEC has had the best team every year recently. I argue that the SEC in general is extremely over inflated because they have had good teams at the top. Look how this season started. Arkansas top 10. Auburn top 25. Look at both now. Missouri was going to be a world beater. They ended up terrible. Vandy was going to really compete after that tough SC game. Hasn’t happened. Kentucky couldnt beat Western Kentucky, but when UGA barely hangs on to beat them it is a tough road victory. The pampering and excuses that the SEC gets from ESPN is pretty sickening at times.

Transcript from this week’s UGA-Ole Miss Game-Planning meeting with CMR, CMB and CTG:

CMR: Today we have a special guest! I’ve invited Shawn Williams to join us because, as we saw, Shawn did a better job motivating the defense in 10 minutes than we have all year. Personally, I prefer gimmicks, but whatever, it’s our first winning streak vs UF in 25 years!

CTG: Speaking of gimmicks, I’m afraid to ask what are those red bracelets for?

CRM: Don’t be afraid Big Boy, these are WWSWD bracelets and we’ll be wearing them the rest of the year. Shawn, would you say a few words please?

SW: Thank you coach. It’s an honor to be here. I believe strongly in shifting the attitudinal paradigm; not just for the defense, not just for the team, but for the entire program! I believe in personal accountability for players and coaches alike! Many players here harbor dreams of playing in the NFL. Let’s embrace, nurture and build on that! Treat us like the men we are becoming. Decide who will play based on merit, not some seniority-based system that may keep our best on the bench.
(CTG and CMB stare unblinking with eyes big as saucers, mouths agape)

CMR: Whoa there Shawn baby. RELAX! Don’t go all Tony Robbins on us. We’re playing Ole Miss not Bama! I was looking for some positive vibes not a manifesto. What the heck are you majoring in anyway? Pretty words?

SW: I just want to add that the team is looking forward to you taking an active role in coaching the kickers. We’ve just got to fix the kicking game!

CMR: Thanks SW. As mentioned in last week’s presser, I’m going to first learn the ABCs of kicking then I’ll coach my tail off. Got a great head-start as Blair Walsh sent me “Ace Ventura-Pet Detective”. It’s a super-awesome instructional video for kickers and a cautionary tale as well. Seems this poor Dolphins kicker, Ray Finkel, missed a Super-Bowl winning chip-shot when Dan Marino botched the hold and naturally, he wound up turning into a woman. Since Ray, Dan, Blair, Marshall and I are all from South Florida, it really hits close to home. Apparently it’s vitally important to have the laces out when holding for a kick. Who knew, right?

CMB: I really don’t think MM will become a wom…oh, forget it. Let’s focus on the Black Bears.

CMR: Gotta tell ya fellas, just love that Hottie Toddy cheer! Had it stuck in my head all week!

CMB: Thinking we keep the good times rolling this week we are going to cancel practice, talk about how great we are, read our press clippings and watch the WLOCP again! We’ll be fine on Saturday-Murray can’t play worse, right?

CTG: (Red-faced, voice rising) I suggest you practice harder than that, your O managed a whopping 10 points on our 6 turnovers. We can’t gift-wrap games for you every week. On D we are going to keep the intensity up through public insults and

CMR: Don’t be such a Gasbag Todd! Let’s use our inside voices. No more sideline meltdowns either, try to be more like Shawn. Gotta run and talk to Vern and Gary.

Have to root for Bama on this one, and Bama in the SEC Champ. If LSU wins, then guaranteed a 1 loss SEC champ.. Out of ND, K. State, and Oregon, I would be surprised if two lose. Thus, two legit teams will likely be undefeated, and keep out a 1 loss SEC team. That is a terrible way to end the SEC’s reign–if it is to end, it should end on the field. And a Bama vs. whoever is a much better matchup, football and ratings wise.

On top of that Florida beat a top 10 team. Something UGA hasn’t done in recent memory. Plus its Florida who UGA never plays well against. Sorry, but UGA seems like a pretty silly pick here Mark. I know you want to play the hopeful homer but be realistic every once in a while.

Miss State is just above average and give their AD credit for a schedule that will get them to a nice bowl.
Texas A&M is getting better each week and they will give Bama all we can handle plus some (could win).
This LSU game is very scary since Bama has played so well all year and with few turnovers. I think the only way LSU can win is if we give them a couple of turnovers. I have this bad feeling that is just what will happen. Ole Les said after the LSU vs UF game that they might play again in the Dome. He may have just meant UGA knowing Les.
I think UGA takes Ole Sissy to the woodshed. That fast pace no huddle thing gave Bama fits and all teams that run that give us trouble. It makes it so hard for Nick and Kirby to get their down and distance team on the field and that is what Nick recruits for these days on defense. He actually has a 1st down team,2nd and distance team and 3rd down and distance team. You need to understand that he took all the hate last year for the two greyshirt kids because a scholly means the world to him.

When Georgia Tech plays a game at home, there are often many empty seats. When Georgia Tech plays Georgia in Athens, they often return large blocks of tickets. Tech does not hate Georgia. Georgia is the training ground for future Tech hiring plans, as Georgia students becomes the locals with “some college” experience that can do good work in the companies Tech grads create and grow. Instead, going to Tech has everything to do with love. Tech students do not go to Tech to get football tickets, so a Georgia fan will struggle with this concept. Tech students go to school because they love engineering tomorrow’s gadgets today. They get so engrossed in the love of their education that they often do two things at the same time, with school work gleefully coming first (i.e.: they program the next gadget app for someone’s cell phone while listening to the Tech game on the radio). Georgia fans, on the other hand, have a base where 30% of them NEVER sought an education higher than high school (that figure has gone up over the last 20 years), with another 30% taking a decade or longer to graaduate with a 2.5 GPA in Sociology or History. Far too many students go to Georgia because their parents want access to their tickets. Georgia parents hate when their kids drop out of school, leaving them with a student loan to pay AND having to pay someone else’s kid hundreds of dollars for their tickets to the games. Georgia parents also hate seeing their kids working for Tech grads, so they try to make up for their educational shortcomings by hating Tech. It somehow makes them feel freer having the Georgia Bulldog football team beat up on the Yellow Jackets. Tech really does not care about football game losses, but they act like it upsets them and keeps their Goergia employees always coming in to work on Monday in a happy, productive mood. So, you see, you got it all wrong.

Combined record of all the teams UGAG plays is like 20 – 60. The SEC is a great conference, but the dawgs are not one of them. By the way, not so fast on your almighty SEC playing in Championship. If ND, KState and Oregon are all undefeated and Bama loses, there will not be an SEC team in the championship. Also, next year the mutts get spanked as your crapy school plays Bama and LSU. LMAO- You contradict yourself. You say and I quote “Combined record of all the teams UGAG plays is like 20 – 60. The SEC is a great conference, but the dawgs are not one of them”. Well if the SEC is such a great conference and the Dawgs are in the SEC then that means they are going to play SEC teams. So with that being said you either think the SEC is overrated or the Dawgs are just simply good.

The Georgie tek fans all contradict themselves. What’s new about that clay ?

GTBob November 1st, 2012 4:48 pm

LSU isn’t terrible but they are highly overrated. They are significantly worse than last season.
___________________________________________________________________________
LSU is significantly worse than last season, when last season they beat three (3) teams who finished in the Top 10 ? They have already beat # 8 South Carolina this season, while Georgie tek # 36 in the nation in college football wins starting 1957 and no Major Bowl Win since either, LOST to Middle Tennessee college in football this season while Middle Tennessee college has lost to McNeese state college and lost to Louisiana Monroe this season, but beat Georgie tek in football. Georgie tek # 36 national university and # 36 in Wins starting 1957 in football, on NCAA Probation in Football and NCAA Probation in Men’s Basketball.

GTBoob’s statement is that The SEC has a teams this pre-season who were ranked in the top 25 and now are not in the BCS Standings today :

# 1 Alabama
# 5 LSU
# 6 UGA
# 7 Florida
# 8 South Carolina
# 12 Mississippi State
# 16 Texas A and M

Pre-season the America’s Cupcake Conference had :
# 1 Virginia Tech ranked as high as # 1, now losing record 4-5 UNRANKED
# 22 North Carolina pre-season ranking by College Football News, now they’re UNRANKED, and have NO VOTES in ANY POLL WHATSOEVER.
# 23 Georgie tek ranked # 23 by Rivals.com pre-season and now AD quits, are # 115 Passing # 79 Defense and lost to Middle Tennessee state, while Georgie tek is headed for what ? 4-8 season ? You’re 2nd losing season in the last 3 seasons’ now. Excuse me, GTBoob, UGA was # 6 pre-season, you know ? Your Obsession : UGA. We are # 6 in the BCS Standings and stand to move up to Top 5 TOMORROW. Don’t hold your breath for anything else, GTBoob.
_________
So, with all these ACC teams ranked pre-season – not of whom are anywhere to be found, what we actually have in the BCS Rankings today for the America’s Cupcake Conference – worst football conference in the nation :
# 9 Florida State
# 13 Clempsum Farmers
2, that’s right GTBoob, 2 ACC teams in the BCS Rankings Top 25, while The SEC has 5 of the Top 8 and 7 of the Top 17 in the BCS Standings today, including MOST ESPECIALLY UGA at # 6, where WE started pre-season in EVERY POLL, exactly. We were NOT over-rated pre-season GTBoob, Georgie tek WAS. We beat then # 2 Florida, now # 7 Florida. In the meanwhile, the OVER-RATED Georgie tek football team # 23 in the Rivals Top 25 which made AJ-C HEADLINES pre-season with blogs to discuss it by the nerds, lost to Middle Tennessee state college who lost to McNeese State college and lost to Louisiana Monroe but BEAT OVER-RATED Georgie tek in the America’s Cupcake Conference, which is what the ACC does EVERY SINGLE SEASON.

Who is the top-ranked ACC team ?
Trick Question. There isn’t one.

(1) If Georgie tek BEAT Alabama ? Put it down son, that stuff is no good for you GTBoob. Georgie tek has not beat Alabama in football since 1984, and Alabama was 5-6 in 1984.

(2) If Georgie tek BEAT Oregon ? In 120-years of playing football, Georgie tek has NEVER beat Oregon.

(3) If Georgie tek beat LSU ? Georgie tek has LOST 5 games in a row to LSU and have not beat LSU since 1960 when LSU was 5-4-1.

(4) If Georgie tek beat Oklahoma ? In 120-years of playing football, Georgie tek has NEVER beat Oklahoma.

(5) If Georgie tek beat FSU ? Georgie tek doesn’t even play Florida State, and Georgie tek has not played Florida State since 2009 when they were 7-6 and when you went BACK on NCAA Probation 2009. Georgie tek has a LOSING RECORD to every team you listed for us to discuss all day today GTBoob, sir. Georgie tek has a LOSING RECORD to Florida State. So, what else is new about some post you post about what if Georgie tek beat these teams, huh ? Tell me about that UGA fans ? What if Georgie tek beat these teams, huh ? God Almighty GTBoob; you can’t really be this stupid to ask us to talk about this, can you ? To credit ESPN for the SEC’s success in the rankings is absurd. ESPN and their employees have very little influence on the BCS rankings. ESPN sponsors one poll and may have a handful of writers who vote in it, but that’s it. That is their influence. Every other human voter has a choice (and I am sure some of them have biases against the SEC) and somehow they all seem to vote SEC in enough numbers to keep the SEC looking strong.

If you look at the break down of all the polls that go into the BCS standings, only one of the 6 computer polls does not have each of the SEC teams in the BCS top 10 in their poll’s top 10 (one of the computer polls has SC #11). Now, the computer polls do have Alabama at #3, but that is because EVERY REASONABLE HUMAN BEING WHO WATCHES COLLEGE FOOTBALL REGARDLESS OF THEIR BIAS is going to vote Alabama #1 until they lose. Voters are not voting SEC because of ESPN. That argument is just nonsense.

The irony of it all is that when you look at the computer polls that go into the BCS standings, the two teams benefiting the most from the human polls is Florida State and Clemson. If you take the average of the computer polls, those two teams are tied at #21 (compared to #9 and #13, respectively, overall). How ’bout them apples?

Now, tell me again which conference is over-inflated in the rankings? Oh, BTW, last time I checked, the ACC has a contract with ESPN, too.

Get a new argument. That one has been thoroughly shot down.

Who has Oregon beat ?

Who has Kansas State beat, or better yet who will they lose to ?

Who has Notre Dame beat, or better yet even plays ?

# 6 UGA has beat # 7 Florida
#5 LSU has beat # 7 Florida and # 8 South Carolina

Name me a team any of the Top 5 in the BCS Standings, which just started by the way, have beat yet which compares to UGA’s win over Florida or LSU’s wins over both Florida and South Carolina ?

I presume we can start by eliminating the necessity to discuss either the Big East or the Big 10 ? Like to try to narrow this discussion down. Louisville is the only Big East team in the BCS Standings and they have beat no one and play no one to accumulate the points in the BCS Standings to get into the discussion which at # 10 today, they are not. The Big 10 only team in the BCS Rankings is # 20 Nebraska. We can eliminate those 2 conferences from this discussion ?

PAC-12 has Oregon and they are way down at # 4 – out of consideration for the BCS Title game without any good win all season, and now their only 2 games Stanford and Southern California have both been sent to the bottom of the BCS Rankings themselves. Their conference championship game is against again what ? A rematch again then what 4-Loss Southern California and they get a BUMP past all these SEC teams at the top of the BCS Rankings before they play that worthless game or the regular seasons’ game Oregon has remaining against Southern California and Stanford. Oregon is not in this discussion – not at # 4 – because of these facts, not the least of which is they are # 4, beat no one, play no one, have nothing coming up to give them any bump.

Kansas State – Good Lord. There are a grand total of 2 Big XII teams in the BCS Rankings all the way down to # 17, they (1) have not beat anyone (2) do not play anyone and (3) have no game coming up to give them any bump when the Big XII is not the Big XII anymore but only 10 teams who cannot therefore have a conference championship, not that they could come up with a top BCS Ranked team anyway for a conference championship game for Kansas State to get a bump from. Plus Kansas State loses a game coming up. They have beat no one.

Notre Dame – Notre Dame has no big win. Notre Dame has no big game remaining to play to get a Signature Win against. There is no top team on Notre Dame’s schedule. Since they do not want to be a part of the ACC in football and therefore cannot play even Florida State at # 9, Notre Dame will have no one to blame but themselves that while The SEC beats up on ourselves and STILL sends a 1-Loss team into the BCS Title Game, The SEC teams at the top all will therefore have BIG SIGNATURE WINS to give us a BUMP.

# 5 LSU win over now # 8 South Carolina, excuse me

Thomas Brown

November 2nd, 2012
8:06 am

The win over # 5 LSU by # 7 Florida is a huge big win as is # 7 Florida’s win over # 8 South Carolina, obviously.

That is a quality team # 7 Florida.

Beating # 7 Florida gave UGA a BUMP from # 10 to # 6 in the rankings and the winner tomorrow night, if it is LSU BUMPS LSU up – way up – past Oregon and past Kansas State to at least # 2 if not # 1.

If AL wins as expected, they stay # 1.

LSU then drops.

UGA then moves up to at least # 5 because of our win over then # 6 Florida Sunday night.

LSU has to drop from # 5 to Sunday like # 8 just ahead of South Carolina if LSU loses tomorrow night.

If AL loses, they drop to what ? # 3 ?

There are those who submit that The SEC with 5 of the Top 8 and with 7 of the top 17 should fall behind in the BCS somehow undescribed and somehow unmentioned because of something known as LOSSES.

A 1-Loss SEC team in 2012, not 2002 when The SEC was down, is WAY AHEAD in the BCS Rankings than teams who have NO QUALITY WIN, beat no one, played no one, while we sit here and talk about how great The highest-BCS-ranked SEC team is because of these games they won.

It’s not a vacuum. The SEC dominates not ESPN but the BCS Rankings. Yes, our own UGA grads and former UGA football players are the announcers on ALL the channels ? So what ? The SEC is like that. We have SEC guys in every one of these discussions. These discussions just started.

The hype is that LSU can ruin the strongest conference 2012 The SEC by FAR, by winning.

Nothing is further from the Truth.

Kentucky would be in the running for the conference championship if they played in the ACC. That said, LSU, Florida, SC and Georgia are most certainly all overrated. The problem is that there aren’t any better teams in the other conferences with which to replace them in the polls.

There are only four elite CFB teams this year. Everyone knows who they are. The only question now is whether two of them will lose a game that they should have won, thereby setting up a NC game between the other two.

LSU should have been among the elite in 2012, but they aren’t the team that started the season by a long shot. Their loss to Florida would have been shocking — had they not almost lost to Auburn the prior week. LSU should go on to lose to both Bama and MSU. Ole Miss is a pick ‘em.

Is there someone else up there we can talk to?

No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.

Are you saying Ni to that old woman?

Um, yes.

Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say Ni at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land, nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress in this period in history.

Did you say shrubberies?

Yes, shrubberies are my trade. I am a shrubber. My name is Roger the Shrubber. I arrange, design, and sell shrubberies.

Nigh. Nigh. Nigh. Nigh.

I want a shrubbery.

I want another shrubbery.

Nigh to you. Nigh.

We are the Knights who say… NI.

You cannot say Nigh to the knights who say Nigh

We’ve got to find the Holy Grail. Come on

You’ve got no arms left.

Yes I have.

Look*!

It’s just a flesh wound.

Let us by.

No.

I command you, as King of the Britons, to stand aside!

I move for no man.

So be it!

Arthur cuts off Black Knight’s left arm

Now, stand aside, worthy adversary!

‘Tis but a scratch!

A scratch? Your arm’s off!

No, it isn’t!

Well, what’s that then?

I’ve had worse.

You liar!

Come on, you pansy!

Arthur cuts off the Knight’s other arm

Victory is mine!

Come on, then.

What?

Have at you!

You are indeed brave, Sir Knight, but the fight is mine!

Oh, had enough, eh?

Look, you stupid dolt. You’ve got no arms left!

Anyway, what makes you think she’s a witch?

Well, she turned me into a newt!

A newt?

[meekly after a long pause] …well, I got better.

Burn her anyway!

I’m not a witch I’m not a witch!

But you are dressed as one

They dressed me up like this!

We didn’t! We didn’t…

And this isn’t my nose. It’s a false one.

Well?

Well, we did do the nose.

The nose?

And the hat, but she is a witch!

Yeah! Burn her! Burn her!

Did you dress her up like this?

No!

Yeah a bit.

A bit ?

A bit! But she has got a wart!

Who goes there ?

I dunno, must be a King.

Why?

Because he doesn’t have sh all over him.

You don’t frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, you sons of a silly person. I blow my nose at you, so-called “Arthur King,” you and all your silly English K-nig-hts.

I am your king.

Well I didn’t vote for you.

You don’t vote for kings.

Well how’d you become king then?

The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. THAT is why I am your king.

Listen, strange women lyin’ in ponds distributin’ swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

Oh, but you can’t expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you.

I
am, and this is my trusty servant Patsy. We have ridden the length and breadth of the land in search of knights who will join me in my court at Camelot. I must speak with your lord and master.

What? Ridden on a horse?

Yes!

You’re using coconuts!

What?

You’ve got two empty halves of coconut and you’re bangin’ ‘em together.

So? We have ridden since the snows of winter covered this land, through the kingdom of Mercia, through…

Where’d you get the coconuts?

We found them.

Found them? In Mercia? The coconut’s tropical!

What do you mean?

Well, this is a temperate zone.

The swallow may fly south with the sun or the house martin or the plover may seek warmer climes in winter, yet these are not strangers to our land?

Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?

Not at all. They could be carried.

What? A swallow carrying a coconut?

It could grip it by the husk!

It’s not a question of where he grips it! It’s a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.

Well, it doesn’t matter. Will you go and tell your master that Arthur from the Court of Camelot is here?

Listen. In order to maintain air-speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings forty-three times every second, right?

Please!

Am I right?

It is ‘Arthur’, King of the Britons.

What… is your quest?

To seek the Holy Grail.

What… is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

What do you mean? An African or European swallow?

Huh? I… I don’t know that.

[he is thrown over]

Auuuuuuuugh.

How do know so much about swallows?

Well, you have to know these things when you’re a king, you know.

I thought about including Nebraska as well but they are probably just as overrated at Florida, they just don’t have an SEC patch on their sleeves that gets them a free top 10 ranking.

I’m starting to wonder if Alabama could LOSE the SEC Championship and still play for the National Championship. All these poll-based rankings are just so much nonsense.

1. Bama – beat no one of consequence yet unless you count Missy State – other than that no ranked team. Their season is ahead of them obviously.
2. Oregon – beat no one, plays no one, conference championship vs Southern Cal again with 5-Losses then ?
3. K State – beat no one, plays no one, no conference championship since 4 Big XII teams quit the stinking conference, including # 16 ranked Texas A and M and including # 20 Nebraska.
4. Notre Dame – beat no one unless you count 5-3 Michigan, plays no one, no conference championship game, just a free pass through 2012
5. Ohio St – on NCAA Probation 2012 like Georgie tek – no wonder you like them. Ohio State plays no one, not eligible for BCS Rankings, beat no one, cannot play in bowl game, why rank # 5 ?
6. Oklahoma – you spelled that wrongly Choklahoma. 2 LOSSES already with more to come.
7. Fla St – LOST to 3-Loss NC State who lost to vols and to North Carolina among others
8. Clemson – LOST to Florida State already but you rank only 1 worse than FSU, huh ? More losses coming 2012 for Clempsum Farmers who hired away your AD
9. Stanford – 2 LOSSES already including they LOST to 4-4 Washington. Where is Washington ranked ?
10. LSU – 1 Loss FL. Beat # 8 South Carolina where do you have South Carolina ranked ? Also LSU beat Texas A & M whom Louisiana Tech LOST to – so where you have Texas A & M ranked ?
11. USC -2 LOSSES & counting LOST to Arizona who has 3 losses, beat no one
12. Louisiana Tech – LOST to Texas A & M whom Florida BEAT, beat no one plays no one
13. West Virginia – 2 LOSSES, beat no one
14. Florida – 1 Loss, beat # 8 South Carolina and # 5 LSU

Worst poll I have looked at, GTBoob – That all you got ? I am a worse man now that before I saw this post. Give me back my 5 minutes I cannot ever get back.

DawgDad, “I’m starting to wonder if Alabama could LOSE the SEC Championship and still play for the National Championship”
_________________________
Sure they could DawgDad. LSU is # 5 with a win over Texas A and M and then with a Win over # 1 Alabama too. Texas A and M has a win over Washington who beat Stanford GTBoob thinks is so great. LSU also has a win over # 8 South Carolina.

So, the answer is how far down would Alabama # 1 drop to losing to # 5 LSU. # 3 is my answer. Last year, it was # 2. Think they drop one more to # 3 this time. And, where would LSU go to this season, since last season they beat AL, if they beat AL again tomorrow ? I would guess # 2, not # 1, from # 5.

Step 1 : AL lost to LSU, AL # 3, LSU # 2
Step 2 : UGA beats # 2 LSU, UGA goes up to # 3 I say, LSU down to 4, AL to # 2

Anyway you figure it, SEC gets a team in BCS NC Title Game, NO MATTER WHAT

Gutdom, Jeff Schultz is an idiot and a wast of space. And he’s homely as sin’s homely sister. And GTBob, and then you get hideous losses in the ACC, because you can’t play.

Georgia will earn the East title by having the best record. I would like to see them beat Bama in Atlanta, as that would cause havoc in Ala-dam-bama and the BCS. As for Tech, Radakovitch brought us down, and we will suffer for a while. I didn’t purchase tickets for Athens. It will not be fun for us nerds.

sigh on the next point with you but yeah

summa cum laude MBA at Terry, think that was it – totally awesome job by you

it is Top 5 % of Graduating Class your Senior year not MBA, so think that is it

either way, way to go !

I was in the building. They don’t let anyone walk on the floor boards since they were installed in 1732; but we were allowed on the floors.

Quite the Honor.

Ok so UGA for President doesn’t want to believe that The SEC gets Slot 1 or Slot 2 and the other teams nationally are shooting for – between them mind you – only one slot.

That’s fine.

Keep on plugging

Read them and weep – no matter whom it is who wins tomorrow night, SEC gets a slot.

If LSU wins, they BUMP up from # 5 to # 2.

If AL wins, then are # 1; if they lose, they drop to # 3 – unlike last year dropping to # 2 – although I thought AL was the better team in game 1 and said so, and they proved it shutting out LSU in game 2.

If UGA plays # 1 AL, we can go to # 3 I think from # 4 – have to see if I am correct about Kansas State losing. LSU would have dropped from # 5 down to like # 7 with a loss to AL moving us up from # 5 to # 4 whether Kansas State loses as I guarantee or not.

If UGA plays # 2 LSU rather than # 1 AL, and we lose to # 2, we drop from # 5 to # 7 – worse than FL who has 2 great wins over South Carolina currently # 8 and over LSU currently # 5 moving FL up to # 6 or higher – not really concerned with FL; we beat them.

If UGA plays #2 LSU rather than # 1 AL and we win, well…

this really is the question, as I see it. Right now thinking # 3 for us. Have to see if I am right that no BUMP is given to Oregon playing no top-ranked BCS Teams since Stanford and Southern California both have 2-losses and we all know Southern California is the representative in the only other relevant conference championship game, however relevant that one is too. I just see no BUMP Oregon beating Southern California game # 1 or # 2.

Facts are The SEC no matter what has a team in the BCS Title Game.

I’ll remember all this.

Will you with your BS ?

UGA is in the national championship discussion.
Kansas State loses.
Oregon plays no one.
Notre Dame plays no one.

Predicting November 2 that Notre Dame gets 1 slot and The SEC gets 1 slot.
That is no matter whom it is who wins tomorrow night.

I hate to say it but I’m pulling for Southern Cal to play like the #1 ranked team they started the year with!!! They play Oregon and ND at home. That egg suckin coach at the “real” USC could prove to be a DAWG’s best friend!

Neutral, it’s not going to matter now what Southern California does, ranked # 17 as they are. They could beat Notre Dame or not, and they could beat Oregon in regular season or not, or they could beat Oregon in PAC-12 Championship Game or not – it matters not : Notre Dame gets NO BUMP, and Oregon gets NO BUMP by beating Southern California at the end of the season now, no matter what – while LSU stands a big BUMP up to # 2 tonight if they beat # 1 Alabama. And, of course, now that we’ve beat undefeated Florida with their wins over # 8 South Carolina and # 5 LSU, and got our BUMP up from # 10 to # 6 where we are today, if we beat # 1 Alabama or # 2 LSU, we will get a BUMP up from our # 5. I also think Kansas State takes a loss. Beating SEC West is our only priority.
