Video blog: Are Falcons (5-0) really better than before?

The Falcons are 5-0 for the first time in franchise history. Is this team really different from ones of recent seasons? I discuss with CineSport’s Noah Coslov in this week’s video blog.

Dayum Jeff. Where’s your southern accent?

Yeah, the Falcons are better than before. “Some things are self-evident.” But until they bring home the Lombardi, I’ll be doing my best Richard Lewis thing.

Yeah—i think the Falcons are better this year,Matt Ryan looks stronger throwing the pass, and making plays, the defence is playing lights out,and we all no the offencesive personel is one of the best in the NFL.The addition of the new coach’es ,and schems has really mesh well with the talent on this team.

I think the talent base is about the same. The big difference is there is better coaching and better coaching schemes. I’m not saying they will win the SB but the coaching has really made a vast difference on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. It was real evident in the Bronco game where they were able to confuse Manning with their different looking schemes. I think the coordinators both deserve an A+

Jeff Schultz and this chick have the same accent.

The Falcons started 4-1 in 2009 and 2010, so it’s not like this is anything new. The secondary is much better and the Ryan-Gonzalez connection has never looked better than it has this season.

My one word of caution is that there’s a good chance the Falcons have only faced one playoff team so far, and the only reason they have even faced one is because someone has to win the putrid AFC West. That won’t matter much for the rest of the regular season, since only three teams on the remaining schedule (Eagles, Cardinals, Giants) have winning records, but I wouldn’t get too carried away with playoff predictions yet unless they beat a couple of those teams.

There is certainly better defense, and Ryan is demonstrating great confidence and leadership. I love these late wins, whether it is the Braves or the Falcons. “Superman” Newton pouting on the sidelines is priceless.

We’re having a hard time gtting the video to play but we bet it is very good. As for whether the Falcons are any better, we think so. The true test is a lot like the one the Braves went through last week. How do they do at crunch time? We know that the Braves are the ones that get crunched and that has also been the history with these Falcons. In fact, just thinking about it makes us sick because we was led to believe the Braves were going deep into the post season and look who is already deer hunting before the playoffs get going good. Sadly, we wont know how good the Falcons are until we find if they can compete in the playoffs. The Braves – yet again – did not/could not.

This is the best team they have ever had top to bottom Coaching to Players. Absolutely. Are they flawed? yes. There’s still a lot of things that could be improved, but I do think they are capable of beating any team in the league now anywhere at anytime if they play their best game.

I’d go with the 1980 team or the Super Bowl team, until this one proves itself.

Yes, condolences to Alex Karras. A trooper.
Yet another player that fell victim to the NFL’s blindness towards head injuries.
Also, lets give Karras props in another department, without him there’d be no Madonna, Brangelina, Mia Farrow, Susan Strutthers & of corse, that beacon of light, LeAnn Touhy saving planet Earth one child at a time!! Lets be real, before Webster — it wasn’t fashionable.

As for the Falcons, Matt Ryan has stepped his Game up.
The Defense has of course improved in some areas with a Real Coordinator.
The Running Game is getting back on track — thanks to Michael Turner. If another Falcon fan calls for Quizz, I’m gonna puke. The guy averages less per carry than Turner, and that’s hard to do!!
Still no pass rush, aside from Abe & the occasional pressure from either Babs, Jerry or Walker.
Their is something to be said for winning when you’re suppose too.
Giants, Bears & Niners are better Teams at moment.

I think the 1980 team was the best. This team, seems to be the same personnel, except for the new CB, has better coaching. Will the rest of the league catch up with them, probably! What happens then determines how far they go. As they say in rassling, the outcome remains to be seen.

I’m not impressed yet. I saw the Falcons go 14-2 a few years back…and I also watched them get destroyed in their first playoff game. I believe Ryan needs to have a talk with Peyton Manning and find out how he was able to break free from his playoff losing ways. Until then, I’ll get off at the next corner.

Per the NY Times:
Karras had kidney disease, heart disease and stomach cancer, his family said in a statement announcing his death, as well as dementia. He was among the more than 3,500 former players who are suing the National Football League, in cases that have been consolidated, over the long-term damage caused by concussions and repeated hits to the head.

Per CNN:

In April, Karras — who had been battling dementia — joined more than 3,000 other former NFL players who are suing the league for not better protecting them from head injuries.

The players, who say they suffer from a variety of debilitating and potentially life-threatening concussion-related injuries, got a high-profile boost when the former Lion joined their ranks.

Are the Bulldogs really worse than before having Lost 10 games in a row and counting to teams who made the Top 10 after # 9 Auburn in 2006 seven (7) years ago, and having Lost 10 games in a Row to SEC teams who made a winning SEC Record starting with the Kentucky game in 2007 six seasons’ ago.

Ryan has matured and is thriving in the new O scheme. Now that Turner has gotten his stride, it will only get better. That said, they have to get to the playoffs and then win one to get that monkey off their back.

Speaking of fishing, there is no better trout fishing in the entire world than the White River in northern Arkansas. You can literally see hundreds of Rainbow sprinkled in with some huge Brown Trout in the coldest damn river I have ever stood in. It should be on everyone’s bucket list, even if you’ve never gone fishin’……..!!!

Loathe Petrino? For me it used to be worse than that but he got exactly what he deserved. But I found this interesting to say the least: You said “and those who enabled him,”. Would you elaborate, then we can drop the Petrino reference for the rest of eternity.

These folks are funny. It’s a question that calls for “insight”. Being able to see these Falcons are capable of winning big games BEFORE it happens.

The whole, “They have to do something first to prove it to me.” is a cop out response and is like saying Bill Gates MIGHT have a lot of money, but he has to show you his bank account before you’ll say he does.

My answer: Yes. This looks like the best team the Falcons have put together, and they are most capable of going deep in the playoffs.

Here is what is great about this season. We play a weak schedule and we will end up with probably the most wins in the NFC. The end result is a first round bye and a second round home game where I love our chances a whole lot more than a playoff game on the road. The odds are in our favor to win this post season.

I think a lot of folks would argue your weak schedule comment. I assure you NOBODY expected 5-0 at this juncture. KC, San Diego, Washington on the road. Denver at home but on MNF where the Falcons have imploded before. Panthers at home, had it won until Cam put it on the ground.

I don’t buy it, this team won when they weren’t supposed to………..that says a lot!! Now let’s see what we can do with this TOUGH part of the schedule coming up. Eagles, Cowboys, Giants, Cardinals, Caints (2), Panthers, Detroit, and TB (2). A weak schedule my ass…….barring injury we’ll be one team to be reckoned with if we can win 6 of those.
