I’m glad to see that the coaching staff wasn’t happy with how the team played. “A win is a win” only when you’re playing good teams. Teams like Buffalo? Those teams should be beaten into the dirt.

Gregg is right…..it is way too early to draw any conclusions about this team….the defense will be fine….just get everyone back and get Mitchell and Theus healthy……survive Mizzou and South Carolina and play for a shot at the national title by winning the SEC Championship Game.

If we start next week with that pass in the flats, it going to be a long seasons. It seem as if we were practicing our pass protection in the first half and some of the run blocking in the second. Why not save that trick play until next week. Buffalo seem to run the same offense as Boise and Michigan State. Short control passes with runs to keep us honest. The pass to Samuel while incomplete was one more pass to the fullback than all of last season.

Georgia didn’t dupe us. Mark Richt did. The longer he stays at UGA the more he will continue to embarrass our program on and off the field. I knew nothing would change. McGarity better get on the phone with Chris Petersen. His Boise team damn near beat a very good Michigan State team and he had to replace 18 of 22 starters from last years team. Oh and Grantham is overrated too. Giving up 23 points to Buffalo is pathetic. Where was the intensity and effort? There’s no reason to be playing Buffalo anyways. At least match up against middle of the road teams from the other Big 6 conferences. It sucks to be a dawg fan right now but Go Dawgs!

Lousy game…too hot to stick around…over ranked…will be interesting to see how far they fall in the rankings next week…It may be another hold your breath, just try to survive until next week season…I hope not…they sure have the easiest schedule in the SEC…i don’t know if they will be able to take advantage of that though…I’m just glad they were able to field a team today, considering all of the suspensions and those kicked off the team.

Tighten up the D, keep Gurley on the field (No Worry, Give It To Gurley), and get some of the injured/suspended players back on the gridiron and Dawgs will be OK.

So work hard this week, Bulldogs. Stay positive and fix the problems.

Mizzou ain’t Buffalo, and as CMR pointed out…it’s a long way back to Athens.

We have the same little league offense I mean pittiful no high tech blocking schemes or running plays. and Murry is awful can’t throw over the middle ,he can throw long or attempt to and wide in the flat. against good d coaches our offense will be limited to throwing some long passes hoping to catch a few. we couldn’t runthe ball on Buffalo no idiot should believe we will run on anybody, I see losses to Aub,USC,FLA and possible vandy and tenn, they looked about as ready to play as they did last year at Boise,sign of a poorly coached team when every year they aren,t ready to play on game 1 . I say fire Mark Right today for bringing that slop in Sanford stadium again

Settle down folks. Our def front was not pushed around. Buff rb had 29 yds on 16 carries until Gilliard took a bad angle and gave up a 32 yd run on third and 6. LB also responsible for his one other long run. Take those away and he averaged around 2 ypc. Got good pressure but qb was able to scramble for significant yardage/first downs. Grantham can correct those assignments/discipline this week. My biggest concern is injury to theus and Murray’s inaccuracy. Can’t remember the brain donor that said theus was not athletic, but kid is an absolute stud (like Gurley).

I know this for a fact, sometimes teams play down to their competition. I believe this was one of those times. Haters gonna hate. That’s what they are good at. But since when is a 22-point victory a cause for an uproar? Bear in mind that the objective of any football game is for a team to score more points than its opponent. Georgia accomplished that goal today.

In saying that Georgia could have done better, remember that the same could be said for any team anytime. No matter how talented and skilled a team is, there’s no such thing as perfection. Why? Because a team is composed of imperfect humans. The goal should always be to strive to improve. But the reality is there will never be a flawless performance.

So now we are into justifying this joke of a team effort today? We bring in top ten classes year in and year out, so why aren’t they all prepared to step in and step up? This is simply a team that lacks pride as one. There was individual effort today that was incredible(Gurley, J. Jones) but as a team UGA stunk up Sanford Stadium Buffalo, Yes Buffalo look like they belonged at least behind Ole Miss as a Bottom tier SEC Team. A QB that’s supposed to be Heisman material staring receivers down and missing easy touchdowns, A LB group that many say is the best not just in the SEC, but the country missing tackles, and making a Back from the M.A.C. look supreme today Top twenty in the nation at there positions D Linemen who lacked up field penetration consistently, and left the middle of the field open all day. At some point these coaches can’t be blamed, at some point players need to look within and find there hearts. Find a fire within and decide “I just wanna be better than good, I wanna be great”. Murray, your a QB, BUT HONESTLY YOU LACK A FIRE THAT WINNERS HAVE. Maybe it’s LeMay’s time, maybe your not into it with your friend O. Charles gone, but something’s gotta change. Ogletree, Cummings, Rambo, get your heads outta your behinds. Has not the loss of Mathieu(LSU), Rogers(Tenn) Dye(AU) your teammate Isiah Crowell got your attention that YOUR NOT BIGGER THAN THE PROGRAM.? Wake up you Bulldogs and grow up. I’m a Buffalo Bulls fan and just want to say a few things.UGA fans need to calm down. Buffalo has a pretty solid team this year. Bo Oliver is probably the second best running back they have ever had (except James Starks starter for Green Bay Packers). Zordich can move well and get out of trouble better than most other quarterbacks. He can’t throw to well. Nuetz is sick and has great hands as a wideout. Solid and huge offensive line. Solid defensive line that was getting good pressure. You still doubled the score on them. The first half was close but Richt made great adjustments and got the game under control. Stop complaining. Your freshman running backs looked good…better than the knucklehead Crowell I think. Murray is a good quarterback that I hope the Bills draft because hes not afraid to sling it. I think Georgia will win the east this year. The MAC has good teams that play tough, theyre not cup cakes. The MAC is the best Mid-Major Football Conference in the country. Go Bulls, Go Bills, Good luck UGA beat all your rivals especially LSU and Alabama..theyre lame.

Bullfalo outgained UGA 243 to 188 yards in the first half??? UGA only led by 8 points at the half?

I’m watching a replay of the game. The offense looked much better coached than the defense today. In the 1st half defensive players looked around at each other MANY times in confusion. The offense genrally played well and would have scored 40 or so in the half if Murray hadn’t been off on the deep throws.

Grantham is more myth than top coach to this point. He has yet to really stop a good team.

Two observations about today: Already off to a better record than last year – the year the won the SEC East if I’m not mistaken, AND

They looked just as terrible last year against Boise State, and although to SC the following week, they generally played well and looked like a totally different team by the second game of the season. This year will be no exception. They will come out strong next week and put the nay-sayers to rest (if that were even possible…).

The only people duped are the ones that want to read too much into a paycheck game. UGA could have won this game 70-10, and I wouldn’t feel any better or worse. It literally means nothing. Look how many teams blow out paycheck games on an annual basis only to get manhandled once they hit conference play. If a game like this is a true measure of a contender, we would have 60 teams looking like national champions after week 1.

Make all of the excuses you want (missing starters, etc.)…No way Buffalo should have outgained UGA in yardage in the first half. No way UGA should have done anything else than beaten Buffalo into the dirt. If you really are a coach, then you should know what everybody else seems too…that UGA looks like they’ve got some problems. Can they be fixed? Sure…will they? don’t know. I know this, UT looks better than anybody in the SECe, and NOBODY is on Alabama or LSU’s planet.

I think Mr Richt is more concern about Aaron Murray(Fla Kid) winning the heisman trophy and getting drafted high in the 1st round than winning @uga. Personally, I prefer to recruit my qbs from the state of ga because they care more about winning for uga than trying to impress the nfl scouts.

Although Mr Richt refuses to wear down his opponent with his rbs in order to control the time of possession, I’m very disappointed with Todd Grantham’s defense. Four star athletes should never allow 2 star athletes to handle them the way Buffalo handle our defense. UNACCEPTABLE!

It’s the same crap every year year. Great talent bad coaching. I was surprised to see the defense play bad because I do think that Grantham is a good coach but no one on the offensive side of the ball knows what the hell they are doing and we have Richt and Bobo to thank for that.

We have two true freshman at running back that could make Georgia a force to reckoned with for several years to come. Of course, that will no happen because we have an idiot O.C. and head coach that thinks you have to have balance. It doesn’t matter if your backs are averaging 10 yards a carry, we’ve got to throw those low percentage 40 yards passes on 1st down to keep the offense balanced. It is an asinine way of thinking, and an asinine was of calling plays. Any good O.C. is going to go with his strengths and what gives his team the best chance of controlling the clock and winning. Bobo does not understand this and he never will. He was having Murray throw the ball around way too much today. We showed early on that we could run the ball down this teams throat but Mr. Brilliant Bobo continued to go away with from the run. Had we stuck with the run like most sane coaches would do, our obviously gassed defense would have got more rest, we would have had longer, time consuming drives, and the game would have been over at half time. But no, we have Bobo calling plays, and he and Richt are two of the worst coaches in the country at realizing where the strength of their offense is and actually utilizing it.

This is embarrassing, it’s the same tune every year, and it will not end until Richt is fired. If you want to see how a great team is supposed to be coached, tune in to ABC and watch Alabama.

If you want to see what a well prepared team looks like all you need to do is watch Alabama. They’re putting a butt whoopin’ on Michigan tonight. The first half was embarrassing today ~ we let their QB run all of the way to the QT and back all game long – some of those lanes he ran through were so big I could have made 10 yards in a wheel chair with a wheel missing. The team looked flat on defense – and the offense was iffy at best until the second half. Marshall and Gurley were solid and I am really not too worried about the offense despite Murray’s tendency to overthrow receivers when he’s jacked up. You expect the offense to be a bit off in the first game but our defense was pitiful. Yeah, we had a few starters out but what does that mean? We have no quality depth on the team on D? As far as I am concerned, this team is once again an inconsistent and questionable proposition at this point – no point in getting excited yet. We’re not going to win the East playing 30 minutes of football on Saturdays. If this coaching staff doesn’t put a boot up some butts this week in practice we are not going to see the kind of year we want to see. I can only hope this was just a first game aberration. Still, you have to wonder what Saban knows that Richt doesn’t when every year Saban seems to have his boys ready to play wire to wire and Richt seems unable to get our team up for the games. We should have been a lot sharper today against an opponent that was nowhere near our talent level.

Not to sure…..since I did not see the game…..what to say about Georgia today. But I would suppose Dawg fans prefer an ugly win over Buffalo to an ugly lose to Colorado and Boise State. And Florida won today against a decent and well coached Bowling Green team…..but the Gator offense was scary bad today. I just hope….as Muschamp said after the game…..that the offense does not reflect the approach the Gators plan to use on offense this year. No way the Gators beat Texas A&M next weekend if the offense performs as it did today. But I would expect…..that none of us saw what Georgia and Florida will reflect in SEC games this year. I sure hope not. Now….I am tired and disgusted….and going to bed. But it could have been worse today…..as both Georgia and Florida could have opened the season vs. Bama.

I lost faith in UGA’s coaching staff after the 2008 season that will never be spoke of again in Athens. Yeah I brought up the 2008 season! CMR should have lost his job after taking 4 and 5 star athletes and coaching them down! Everyone forgive me for not believing in Richt and his head flunkie Bobo. If you believe in them then shake their hands when they are in the unemployment line and can’t find a job. Good coordinators get head coaching positions and I have never heard of Bobo getting offered a coaching position for any school be it high school or college.

I’m not sure that the team I say play today would have beat Michigan or Auburn either.

Fact is our University of Georgia Football Team is not being adequately prepared for the 1st game. I’m sure it’s possible because all four of the other teams I watched today were ready to play. Boise was ready to play last year, too.

We have excellent players for the most part, but we don’t have a team to compare with Alabama. Until we do, we’re not in the hunt. I’m fairly certain the responsibility to build a team rests with the coach. The coach has to assume that we’re going to encounter teams which are equally talented, or even more talented, both in terms of the players on the teams, and in terms of how they are coached, and figure out how to prepare a team to deal with them, and have a chance at a victory. Did the team we saw today look like such a team?

Will we improve? I suspect we will, but why would we not be quite ready for prime time by opening day? What happens if we face an first opponent stronger than Buffalo? What happens if we aren’t ready next week? I wonder what goals our coaches have for the University’s football team? Could it be that they were satisfied with last year’s record?

I think the article Jeff wrote is what needed to be said. We have special players, but we don’t yet have a special team. Not even close.

UGA hasnt “duped” anyone. The rest of the world is the one who has created the hype and expectations for every team, not the teams themselves. That being said, this was a practice game with half the defense not on the field, 5 freshman starters on the field and 13 true freshman playing. Weather the strom until Ogletree gets back and Rambo and Commings, Vasser and Mitchell. The season starts next week. Murray needs to become a championship QB. Its HIS team and he has the defense to win championships. No more excuses from Murray. Its his time. He needs to forget the NFL TOTALLY and concentrate on EACH game, stop missing receivers and NEVER throw INT’s again. All in all if UGA can weather the strom until they get HALF their defense back! They should be fine….It just the IF of weathering the storm…Lets go Dawgs! 2012 is a great oppurtunity. LEts grab and run with it and dont look back!

For you geniuses who want Richt fired, just know that there would be a mass exodus of players who would transfer including Gurley and Marshall. Then a five-year rebuild job with multiple losses to UF, UT, SC and others. Richt isn’t the problem. He still has a very mediocre, emotionless offensive staff. Ever heard a Bobo interview? Guys play hard but slow up and lose focus. Inconsistency is the name of the broken record. He needs an enthusiastic coach added to the offense. That element is missing.

Aaron Murray, once again, was not the better QB head-to-head. That’s now 13 quarterbacks who were better than he on the same field in the games. About half the time, other QB is better than Aaron Murray.

Aaron Murray had ANOTHER FUMBLE today. 24 in 28 games for his career.

We obviously have 2 freshmen running backs who are NFL caliber, and we have them buried on the depth chart, while all Mark Richt can think about instead is that well what can I hide from # 42 Mizzou – when we all know what the real issue is that he has no DISCIPLINE on or off the field, no special teams (except for Chris Conley and Todd Gurley – both of whom EARNED starting jobs BEFORE today.)

Please make some excuses and tell me how you’re such a better fan, not admitting how poorly we obviously played, again.

We haven’t improved over the course of the CURRENT TODAY 7 years.

After beating Auburn # 9 way back in 2006, we have not beat one single team who made the Top 10. And, although we don’t play one in 2012; we would clearly lose again if we did.

Over the course of the season, the same mistakes we made in 2006 losing to 2-win Vandie whose 2 wins were over only 0-12 Duke and 1-11 Temple, we’re making again this season.

What I’ve heard is that if you have issues, you face-up to them, admit it, and FIX IT. You can’t do any of the 3 steps.

3 wins vs teams making the top 10, dupe, out of 16 games for Mark Richt. 19 % win percentage. Only Missy State and Vandie have fewer wins over teams who made the top 10 than Mark Richt after 2005.

2012 – 30 transfers-out 6 suspensions playing like crud not starting obvious better players
2011 – played 4 teams who made any top 25 lost all 4
2010 – have to go back 58 years to 1953 to find UGA team lost more games
2009 – Joe Cox junk season from Hell
2008 – Fulmer Cup national championship # 1 every poll ended # 13 AP Poll, played 3 teams who beat a team who made the top 25, gave up 22, 42, and 29 consecutive points losing all 3. Had we started out # 13 where we ended, would not have been ranked 2008 either.
2007 – LSU beat 2 teams who made the top 10 we beat none. We lost to 6-6 USCe not even in a bowl game.
2006- made Matthew Stafford # 3 on depth chart, like he’s doing with our freshmen running backs this season, and our freshman fullback, and our tight end who dares to want to play basketball lost to 2-win Vandie lost – not worth reviewing all the losses, did beat # 9 Auburn (last good win.) 2006 season was now today 7 seasons’ ago.

Said it all summer… we got duped again alright but by the Media with their bold predictions and obvious lack of knowledge of football. #6 ranking that they (media) bestowed upon the dawgs is absolutly rediculous this early in the season with this many holes to fill. An OL with three new starters, the same QB that get deer in the headlights when under pressure…. no proven RB>>> New kickers…. Same play calller…. Yes the uninformed media let us down again…. we bought the koolaid.

This team could be good with a few more games under the belt bbut #6 material we are not.. and the media in this case is all to blame … AGAIN

Could be a good team with time. The D was unexpected, but the only think unexpected in my mind. … But SHULTZ… Give credit where its due ….

I can’t believe how anyone would even feel any empathy for this article. last year uga lost their first game and according to this guy they where headed for disaster then they lose their second game and richt was gone for sure and we know how rest played out. today uga wins its opener by 20 missing 5 starters on the d and a starting receiver and their duping us. c’mon people what did you expect in that scenerio? did you think they would be flawless that no one would miss gap assignments that team would enter the first game in mid season stride and that was the best they can play? or are you just a bunch haters looking for any opportunity to take a jab at uga and/or richt no matter how invalid or small your point may be?

MARK IT DOWN – This team will be lucky to finish in the top 20. Bama loses I dont know how many to the NFL and dominates an 8th ranked Michigan. You never hear excuses or BS with that program.

Everyone needs to chill I promise it’s ok 1.missing key defensive players2.murray was jacked he will settle down and play great 3. We ran a small limited playbook to not show everything one and also to keep it simple for all the new guys just getting a feel for the game and the cows 4.the last touchdown buffalo scored was against a defensive that not only is missing starters but had a bunch of back ups in at the beginning of the second half the starting defensive never gave up a first down to those guys when they pulled them they scored so really if we wanted to not give up the points are starters only gave up 16 points not to shabby….5.big thankful we have a real running game so when murray settles in we have a run game to compliment his arm…..all in all my biggest concern was he way buffaloes QB was able to run around a decent bit even scoring a rushing td that must be fixed before next week being mizzou has a duel threat qb …..next week will be tough it will be. Hostile crowd ready to cristin there team into the SEC with a win but we will be ready to play and I believe if we don’t win it will be close either way just because we didnt look as flashy as we would like doesn’t mean we are not still the front runner for the east crown ….. Let’s be honest fla looked like crap so did south Carolina and tenn. looked good throwing the ball but lacking a run game and there defensive backs look shaky so all in all we look like the most complete team in the east givin Kentucky hasn’t played and I didn’t see mizzous game or highlights but I ink we all need to chip we are gonna be fine it’s not like CMRhas a killer instinct or is known to run up scores even if given the chance he would rather play every one on the team if possible and is ok to trade scores for experience for younger players as long as we still win and to me as long as we are getting W I also don’t care how they come cause in the end if we win them all we are in…

let’s keep this simple: It’s the head coach and his demeanor. He does not coach with any sense of urgency or toughness. It is season 12 and this football program and team is carrying the labels “undisciplined”, and “unprepared.” I am proud of the fact that CMR IS NOT Saban, Meyer, or Kiffin, three men who lack integrity. But those men know how to coach superior athletes and talent and turn them into championship quality teams. Has Georgia become the place where one stumbles upon success when other great programs struggle? During the CMR era, this has become so. Yeah, it’s just game one of 2012, but has anyone seen anything different ever since this guy took this job? Nope, and you would be a liar if you said so. CMR is a good coach, but the fans are demanding greatness on the football filed. He has none of that in him. Look no further than the absolute crushing of Michigan by Alabama in game one. It was no fluke.

We played flat and sloppy so it is hardly invalid or a small point. Not satisfying to us, as we booed our own team the whole entire game, loudly. Again. Nothing yesterday made you or anyone else think we’re special, or # 6. Our coaches had our team unprepared and unfocused.

I also noticed that of the 5 who failed the NCAA drug test during the Spring Practices where Todd Gurley proved beyond all doubt that he is better than the guy you had starting at his position, you only announced 2.

Your clearly a stat reader. While both looked good, Gurley and Marshall weren’t even close if you actually watched the game. Gurley seems to have an instinct to break tackles and get to the end zone. Maybe Marshall will too but they were not the same yesterday even taking away the kickoff. Like Murrary said, “he did what he has been doing in every scrimmage”. This was no fluke.

I will reserve judgement for next week. We need our 5 starters back on defense too.

Seriuosly? It is one game folks. Please calm down! Should we just forfeit the rest of the season? Should Oklahoma, because they barely beat Toledo! Florida, they barely beat BG? A season consist of 12 games, please go support your team, or get off the band wagon! Most teams show dramatic improvement from week 1 to week 2! I guess everybody hating on this site always went 12-0 when they played! Yes, the D played soft at times, but Buffalo had 19 yards in the 3rd qtr, and Georgia led by 29 at one point before the 3rd string played. Get a freakin life folks! Go Dawgs!

It’s not just you Smitty so it’s nothing personal. Once again we just weren’t prepared to play. I just get tired of all the “talk” and seeing the same tired results. Don’t get me wrong, we’re good, but not as good as we think we are. My guess is we go to Mizzou, hear all the same talk from Coaches and Fans, and see similar results.

It was great sitting in the stands and watching the Dawg Nation cry over every perceived “missed call” by the refs. The look on Dawg fans’ faces around the stadium at halftime was priceless, you’d think the Bulls shot their pet bulldogs.

The Bulls couldn’t hand the heat and humidity in the send half, yet Georgia could only muster a touchdown in the 3rd quarter.

Not sure how good Georgia really is, but then again, you guys like Mark Richt so this is what you get.

I did not see the Georgia game….as I stated late last night…….but I am sure they showed very little of what they will show vs. Missouri…..on offense or defense. The same with Florida. Both teams knew they would win their games against Buffalo and Bowling Green…..and both should play much better in game two……they better. But one thing is clear right now……neither Georgia nor Florida are in the same paragraph that describes the top two or three teams in the SEC….right now. Of course…..that could change in the coming weeks.
