Over/unders: Dogs 9.5 wins, Jackets 8 (agree or disagree?)

The guys who set odds see Alabama winning 10 to 11 games, most among SEC schools.

Alabama (10.5), FSU (10) project to win most games in SEC, ACC

FLOWERY BRANCH — I’m out at Falcons’ camp today for a column I’ll be posting later. But until then, I just received these college football over/unders from the online sportsbook Bovada, which must have me on their email list because they think I’m a degenerate gambler (and I have NO idea how they came to that conclusion).

So I thought, well, here’s a good conversation starter. Below are all of the odds from Bovada. But

Which way would you go on Dogs? More or less than 9.5?

here are the ones that you’re probably most interested in. The over/under on Georgia’s win total is 9½. The over/under for Georgia Tech is 8.

For what it’s worth, I would go over on both.

The SEC schools listed: Alabama 10½, LSU 10, Georgia 9½, Arkansas 8½, South Carolina 8½, Florida 8, Auburn 7½, Tennessee 7½, Missouri 7, Texas A&M 7, Mississippi State 7½, Vanderbilt 6½, Mississippi 5½, Kentucky 5½.

The ACC schools listed: Florida State 10, Virginia Tech 9, Clemson 8½, Georgia Tech 8, North Carolina 7½, Miami 7, Virginia 6½, Duke 3½.

The odds on Georgia to reach a BCS bowl game are about 2.3-to-1 against.

less than 11 would be considered a failure. Who is gonna beat the dawgs? SC could but dont see it happening. AU/FLA could, but dont think this yr is the case..SEC champ game and possibly bowl game..But this non dawg thinks they could play for the marbles, IF they dont trip over THEMSELVES

Big Crimson,

Nothing wrong with being a homer, but I think you should lower your expectations. I (my opinion) can’t see bama going through the regular season with no more than 1-loss. nothing wrong with a 9-3 or 10-2 season following a nat’l. champ.
—————————————
Ricker — Supporting your Team & being a homer aren’t the same.
If it was completely unrealistic for Bama to have a shot this year & I was saying we’re gonna win every game… That to me is homerish.
Bama is in the hunt again this year. Apparently, based on the first significant poll of the year, I’m not the only one who thinks so.
Their is no shame in going 11 & 2 or 10 & 3, especially in the SEC. However, if your Team is better than that – then expect a better record.

Who cares who plays who? Bama plays Western Carolina, Western Kentucky & Florida Atlantic this year. LSU plays North Texas, Idaho & Townsen. Florida plays Bowling Green, Louisiana Lafayette & Jacksonville State. ANY D1 school that schedules a tough out of confrence schedule is stupid. If you are in a BCS confrence the bottom line is you win them all & you play for the crystal football. Strength of schedule only matters if you are Bosie St.

DawginLex,

Your football IQ or lack thereof is showing again. Kickers routinely drill 55 and even 60 yard kicks in practice and warmups. The reason? They don’t have a line rushing them so they can kick at a lower trajectory and kick a much longer field goal. Try that in a real game and it’ll never clear the line of scrimmage.

The kicker was participating in a “special teams only” practice this morning. I am well aware of the difference between a game and practice but eyewitness accounts from Jarvis Jones tell me that the kicks were strong and high and GOOD!

Also as I have said repeatedly, Jarvis Jones and other starters are now on punt and kick coverage teams and Swann is the punt gunner.

Dawg whisperer,

Nope. A lot of people think we return only 4-5 defensive starters. Not true. One of our DBs that doesn’t count as a returning starter has started 17 games and is projected to come out early this year after his jr season- that’s how misleading that stat is. Same with 2 of the new linebacker starters and the new safety starter- none of them are really “new”. All 3 are guys who have already started or been in the regular playing rotation in plenty of other games depending on whether we opened in the nickel or base 3-4.

Muschamp will be the Ray Goff coaching. Get really good recruits but doesn’t know what to do with the talent. Everyone thinks Muschamp will be a good coach because of how “fired up” he always is.
His body of work is not impressive. At LSU that was all Saban & at Texas his defenses were not all that great.

@Al…..
Here is Muschamp’s body of work as a defensive coordinator:

At LSU…..Defense led nation in total defense in 2003 (of course, Muschamp had nothing to do with that performance and it was all Saban….as Muschamp was too busy studying the “Ray Golf Art of Coaching Success Manual – Vol. One.

At Miami……Defense led the NFL in sacks and ranked 15th in total defense (of course, Muschamp had nothing to do with that and it was all Saban….as Muschamp was too busy studying the “Ray Golf Art of Coaching Success Manual – Vol. Two

At Auburn……Defense ranked 6th nationally in both 2006 and 2007 (of course, Muschamp has nothing to do with that…..he used Saban’s defense and was on the phone to him at Bama during every Auburn game……and when he wasn’t…..he was too busy reading the “Ray Golf Coaching Success Manual – Vol. Three.

At Texas…..in a offensive oriented conference…..Texas led the conference or was ranked at the top in the conference…..and Texas won a national title when Muschamp was the DC there…..but of course…..Muschamp had nothing to do with that…….but he was no longer needing to talk to Saban to avoid credit…..he was too busy studying “The Art of being a coach in Waiting,” written by Bobby Bowden and endorsed by the man who wrote the “Art of Coaching Success….all three volumes….Ray Goff.

Therefore…..Muschamo does not know what the hell he is doing at Florida……but Ray Goff does….and Saban would like to know what Ray Goff knows…..because Saban always has had a secret desire to be…..just like Ray Goff…..just like Will Muschamp.
