Over/unders: Dogs 9.5 wins, Jackets 8 (agree or disagree?)

The guys who set odds see Alabama winning 10 to 11 games, most among SEC schools.

Alabama (10.5), FSU (10) project to win most games in SEC, ACC

FLOWERY BRANCH — I’m out at Falcons’ camp today for a column I’ll be posting later. But until then, I just received these college football over/unders from the online sportsbook Bovada, which must have me on their email list because they think I’m a degenerate gambler (and I have NO idea how they came to that conclusion).

So I thought, well, here’s a good conversation starter. Below are all of the odds from Bovada. But

Which way would you go on Dogs? More or less than 9.5?

here are the ones that you’re probably most interested in. The over/under on Georgia’s win total is 9½. The over/under for Georgia Tech is 8.

For what it’s worth, I would go over on both.

The SEC schools listed: Alabama 10½, LSU 10, Georgia 9½, Arkansas 8½, South Carolina 8½, Florida 8, Auburn 7½, Tennessee 7½, Missouri 7, Texas A&M 7, Mississippi State 7½, Vanderbilt 6½, Mississippi 5½, Kentucky 5½.

The ACC schools listed: Florida State 10, Virginia Tech 9, Clemson 8½, Georgia Tech 8, North Carolina 7½, Miami 7, Virginia 6½, Duke 3½.

The odds on Georgia to reach a BCS bowl game are about 2.3-to-1 against.

P the ricker — nice name, btw.
I’m a Bama grad/supporter. I support my Team. Does that make me a homer? So what.
Replacing Richardson(who was in-deed the best back in the Country last yr) will not be the biggest issue. Lacy, Yeldon, Hart & Fowler will be solid, especially running behind our OL.
As for the Defense, I like our unit. Jesse Williams, Damien Square, CJ Moseley, Nico Johnson, Trey Depreist, Robert Lester, Vinny Sunseri & Dee Miliner are all returning players with experience who project to start in ‘12.

UGA is flubbing around enough this offseason that I can almost see them losing @Missouri in week two. They are going to have a lot of players absent for that game. Other than that, they might lose @South Carolina. I say might because UGA blew that ballgame last year when they could have won by two TDs. On paper, UGA should run the table on this schedule…especially since you have to believe they will continue to improve and return most of the team from last year. I’m going to play it safe and say UGA wins 10 with a couple of trip ups.

It would be something to see both of these teams go into the last game of the season……undefeated with so much on the line! Pipedream?! Anyway I like the over on both, they have lots to prove this year as a coaching staff and also with players! Lets see what happens! Go Dogs, Jackets (until they play the Dogs) and of course lets all RISE UP!

“but I think Tech’s D will surprise a lot of people this year (including a lot of Tech fans).”

The only way that will happen is if they are even worse. Which is entirely possible.

VT has one of the better front 7s you’ll see in ACC competition this year. Don’t set yourself up for a big letdown. Beamer will have had 9 months to prepare for Fishfry’s vaunted triple option. :)

Georgia has ten regular season wins. But still goes into Atlanta for the SEC. Another loss in jax at the hands of Florida and an unexpected win by Someone we are supposed to beat like Vandy or Auburn but we will have the tie breaker agains SC. Play LSU in the SEC championship. LSU’s rookie quarter back struggles and keep it a close game. Turn overs kill the Dawgs and LSU wins again.

We were clearly outclassed by LSU. It might have helped if we had played a legitimate opponent the week before and not some midlevel ACC team with a gimmicky offense and a horrible defense, but what are you going to do? You’ve got to play the hand you’re dealt. The bowl game was obviously a big disappointment. We just couldn’t generate any offense when it mattered and the defense got tired. MSU was a pretty good team. Finished right around the top 10 I believe. Its not like we were playing Utah or something.

So according to the BigCrimson75 (is that IQ?) prediction, Bama takes it all. LOL
If I were a homer like you, then my response would be that whoever makes it to the SEC game in Atlanta in Dec will be beat by UGA from the east. And, no rematch for two teams that either didn’t win their conference and didn’t play in the SEC CG or did win their conference and lost in the SEC CG, unlike last year.

I am concerned about GT’s defense. We have to have improvement if to get 9 wins.
Offense should be improved over last year.

Breaking down the schedule for the golden tornados::
Wins: Presb., MTSU, BC, Maryland, NC, Duke
Potential wins: VA, Miami
50/50: BYU
Potential Loss: Clemson
Looking doubtful – VT, UGA
We could get to 9 games

For UGA
Wins: Buffalo, FAU, Vandy, KY, Ole Miss, Ga So.
Potential wins: GT (just being honest)
50/50: Mo, TN, Aub
Potential Losses: Florida,
Looking Doubtful; South Carolina

I think UGA could win 10 or 11 games – heck – could run the table – but that is so hard to do. USCe is the better coached team and has depth, Florida will be improve and be a force toward mid season. Think Auburn will be better than last year – same for Tennessee – which is an upsert alert game for UGA.
MO is a mystery as well – UGA has not faired well vs B12 of late – losses to a horrible Colorado team and OK STATE.
Personally – I like coach Richt – but I think his best days are behind him at UGA. He is no Nick Saban, Les Miles, Urban Meyer or Steve Spurrier.
If UGA loses 4 or 5 games – Richt will be on a hot seat – but I think UGA will win at least 9 games.

Big Crimson,

Nothing wrong with being a homer, but I think you should lower your expectations. I (my opinion) can’t see bama going through the regular season with no more than 1-loss. nothing wrong with a 9-3 or 10-2 season following a nat’l. champ.

Georgia will win 10 just based on their powder-puff schedule. Just like last year – WHO DO THEY REALLY PLAY?? (Of course, the teams that were any good last year that they played – THEY LOST.)
The ONLY real teams that UGA may face this year is South Carolina (maybe) and (maybe) Auburn – the rest of the teams sucks, especially UGA’s pansy non-conference schedule: I mean really – Buffalo??, Florida-Atlantic??, GA Southern??, GT??). FL and TN will suck again – and of course UGA will not play Alabama, LSU, or Arkansas in the regular season.
It will be very sad if UGA can’t win AT Least 10 games with this ridiculous schedule.

“Hmmm, so losing the week before would have helped?”

That’s not what I said. I said playing a legitimate opponent would have helped. To go from the Georgia Tech defense to the LSU defense is like going from Kennesaw Mountain to Mt. Everest. There’s just no comparison. We didn’t even have to run the ball against Tech. Murray just sat back there and sliced and diced the Tech secondary without getting a speck of dirt on his jersey. That’s just not going to prepare you for SEC football, especially not big time SEC football. That’s all I’m saying.

while the fulmer cup is out of reach this year the dawgs could finish no 2.
