LIVE: Braves try to follow wild Game 2 with win over Phils

Good morning. Did anybody go home?
I talked to a the elevator operator and few other stadium employees and they all look a little bleary-eyed. After Wednesday night’s crazy, E-ticket of a game — you know it’s special when 40-year-old Chipper Jones says it’s the greatest game he ever has been associated with — the Braves and Philadelphia have a short-turnaround today and close out their three-game series with a rare noon game at Turner Field.
Today’s game will have a lot of to live up to. The Braves won 15-13 Wednesday on Jones’ two-run, walk-off homer in the 11th inning.
To recap in Twitter-form: The Braves trailed 6-0, led 8-6, trailed 12-8, led 13-12 and were tied after nine innings. (I think that’s under 140 characters.) Braves highlights: Jones’ two-run homer, Brian McCann’s grand slam in a six-run fifth, Jason Heyward’s go-ahead, pinch-hit two-run single in the sixth, Martin Prado’s two-run single in a five-run eighth and … well, that’s enough.

The 28 runs tied a Turner Field record. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it was the highest-scoring, extra inning game in the National League since the New York Mets defeated the Braves 16-13 in 1985.
Our Carroll Rogers and Chris Vivlamore are sitting to my right, furiously working on follow stories on the game that will be posted later.
Funniest thing I heard from after the game was manager Fredi Gonzalez saying, “I forgot who started.” Answer: It was Tommy Hanson vs. Roy Halladay, which made a 23-run game that much more implausible.

About today: The Braves will go for the rare series win over Philadelphia, with Randall Delgado starting against the Phillies Joe Blanton. Delgado has allowed nine earned runs in 9 2/3 innings in his lat two outings and only five runs in 10 1/3 in his first two starts.

Through 4 innings, and Joe Blanton looks like Lefty (or Righty) Grove. Braves 1 hit (Freeman), one base runner. Actually have hit the ball hard a few times though.

Do you get any royalty for that little meebo bar down at the bottom of the screen that makes the page jump all over the place when we try blogging with you? If not, do you think you could make it go away? When we was working at the paper the only time pages would move around like that is when the fan turned around and blew them off the desk.

Even if the Braves lose this game, it will seem like a successful homestand and all is well with some, due to last night’s big win. BUT, it’s not. The Braves will have gone 3 and 4 on the 7 game stand and that is not good. You would think they would be playing with more spirit and enthusiasm after last night, but it’s not there. They do realize they are facing JOE BLANTON don’t they?

Sonny Clusters. If you are using Firefox then you can download AdBlock Plus and you can block the entire thing, as well as the annoying ads on the side and top. It’s a great tool that I use. If you download it, right click on the meebo bar and hit ad block and block the entire frame. Should work out for you. I also went in and blocked everything that has to do with meebo and I haven’t seen it since. Let me know if it works for you!

I used to love day baseball… We’d go the game and then to that Chinese restaurant at 10th and Peachtree (in the Margaret Mitchell house)… Back when folks passing off chow mein as “authentic” cuisine!

These are the kind of games that really don’t count, unless you come up one game short at the end of the year, and we all know that never happens, right? Rest people who get paid HUGE amounts of money to work 3-5 hrs. per day, and let those bats with 2 or 3 HRs in them just lay idle. Those who paid to attend this game need to ask for a refund.

Braves are a decent team bound to play streaky ball this year, but there’s no chance of them finishing with more than 85 wins. Oh well, we have come to expect this level of quality from Wren.
