Weekend (Bowl) Predictions: Dogs, Jackets, Alabama win

pix 002

Hello. I am back.

Weekend Predictions, which like college football has no playoff system and often makes no sense, one difference being our advisory board has the built-in excuse of the shiitake’s mutant and illegal cousin, traditionally returns for one bowl edition.

It has been another profitable season. W.P. Inc. is 26 games above .500 against the line. But of course all I get are no tips, no thank-you notes, just emails that read, “Ya moron! Ya picked the Gators to beat the Dawgs! Coach Richt is going to smite your liberal West Coast beehind! Hey Marge, I got him good. Pop-Tarts ready yet?”

OK, let’s make this quick. Too many games to get to.

Georgia has had a good week. There has been no news of academic suspensions — fill in name of oft-speculated freshman running back — and I think the Dogs already have clinched the 2012 SEC East title, given Alabama has been dropped from the Hostess-wrapped schedule.

Here’s a nice consolation prize for having their limbs ripped off by LSU: sunshine (Outback Bowl) and Michigan State (good defense but No. 60 offense). And to think, 12 months ago, Georgia was losing to Central Florida in the Liberty Bowl.

A season completed in the alternate universe: Dogs cover 3½.

Get Your Hands Off My Wings

It seems Paul Johnson will do anything to break a bowl hex.

It seems Paul Johnson will do anything to break a bowl hex.

Sun: Tech-Utah: Paul Johnson’s offense has managed only 24 points in the past three bowls. Al Groh’s defense has allowed 99 points in the past three games. Also, the Jackets haven’t won a bowl game since I think 1937. But wait! Here comes the Sun! Tech covers 2½.

Chick-fil-A: Virginia-Auburn: All-SEC running back Michael Dyer has been suspended for unknown reasons. Funny. Last year Cam Newton wasn’t suspended and everybody thought the reasons for one were obvious. Auburn covers 3.

Capital Uno: Nebraska-South Carolina: So now everyone’s giving Steve Spurrier a warm embrace for his coaching this year. Never mind that he took enabling to new levels with Stephen Garcia. The guy would go to an AA meeting and suggest everybody just switch to light beer if he thought it would help him win a game. Take the 2½ and Nebraska in an upset.

Urban Gator Bowl: Ohio State-Florida: It’s the “Beatles at Shea,” with Urban Meyer in the roles of all four Beatles. He’ll arrive by helicopter, sing “Twist And Shout” and “Can’t Buy Me Love” (he’ll lie) and then bask in the afterglow of his former and future kingdoms. Gators cover 2.

The Fab 1 . . .

Fiesta: Stanford-Oklahoma State: Andrew Luck, Stanford kid, noted this week that Frank Lloyd Wright had a winter home named Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Ariz., near the Fiesta Bowl. Yeah. I think he probably can read a defense. Cardinal covers 3½.

BCS Zit Of  The Year: Virginia Tech earned its way to the Sugar Bowl by losing its last game to Clemson 38-10. Your honor: The prosecution rests. Michigan covers 2½.

Rose: Empire vs. Wisconsin: Just saw Oregon’s latest uniforms to be unveiled. The Ducks will make it to the game, assuming they don’t miss their connecting flight on the Death Star. Ducks cover 6.

First, we defeat Wisconsin. Then, we blow up Alderaan.

First, we defeat Wisconsin. Then, we blow up Alderaan, Princess Leia's home in Ivy League.

Orange: Clemson-West Virginia: Once again, the Tigers have enough talent to overcome Dabo Swinney. Clemson covers 3.

Cotton: Arkansas vs. K-State: Bobby Petrino lost his three coordinators in the past few weeks. He hates it when people just walk out like that. Piggies win, but take K-State and 7½.

And, drum roll …

BCS Sorta Championship: Alabama over LSU: Yeah, I hate rematches, too. But these are the two best teams, and the best of the two didn’t win the last time because of a crooked-footed kicker. Not going to happen twice. Bama wins and covers 1.

NFL Fridge Pack

Artist's rendition of Jerry's head if Cowboys whiff.

Artist's rendition of Jerry's head if Cowboys whiff.

Bucs at Falcons: I have a question for anybody who’s upset that the Saints drove to that final touchdown Monday night to get Drew Brees the passing record: Would you really feel that much better if the final score were 38-16? Falcons cover 13.

Cowboys at Giants: There are no bad outcomes here, Dallas losing and Jerry Jones spontaneously combusting when the Cowboys don’t make the playoffs again gets the edge over miserable New York fans. Giants cover 3.

Lions at Packers: The Lions can clinch the No. 5 seed with a win, and Ndamukong Suh is psyched. He just eye-gouged a Salvation Army bell-ringer in front of Kroger. It’s a risk, but take Packers and 3½ as a home ‘dog.

Sofia: Your starting job is safe.

Sofia's starting job is safe. (Photo: WWD)

Redskins at Dream Team: It will be fascinating to watch Michael Vick vs. DeAngelo Hall in the playoffs. Oh, wait a minute. Eagles cover 9.

Chiefs at Broncos: Some survey just named Tim Tebow the most desirable celebrity neighbor for 2012. John Elway voted for Sofia Vergara, who did not throw four interceptions last week in Buffalo. Broncos wins, but take the Chiefs and 3½.

Chargers at Raiders: There’s something wrong with Norv Turner’s plane ticket to Oakland. It says “coach.” Oakland covers 3.

Damn, I’m Good

Jeff,
Is Michigan being in the Sugar Bowl any better than Virginia Tech being there? Michigan lost handily to Michigan State and they had the same record going into Championship weekend where State lost due to a running into the kicker penalty. Isn’t the only reason Michigan is in the game because they travel well?

Good picks! However I don’t think Tech will ever win a bowl game again. Haven’t they lost like 5 or 6 in a row? Utah is red hot in bowl games as well.

Alabama is playing for a share of the mythical national title at best. LSU is playing for history. No way they lose this game but a BCS Champ that didn’t even win its division sure would be funny.

I don’t know a single solitary thing about Michigan State but Dawgs win.

Utah’s 325 lb. nose tackle=Another bowl loss for the nerds. Plus, Chow will run circles around Groh. If Bobo can do pull it off it can’t be that hard.

Man, it’s not enough to have Florida and Tech fans talking trash, now we have cornholers. I don’t feel the need to aplogize for avoiding the top 3 teams in the West, because there have been times when we have had to play Bama, LSU, and Auburn when Auburn was among the top 3. It happens to everybody in the SEC; that’s why the schedule rotates.

Look, I doubt we’ll be a top 5 team as far as talent goes, but we should be favored in every game except 1. So there’s a reasonable chance that we could be undefeated or have one loss going into the first weekend in December. And if that happens, we probably play in a national semifinal in the SEC championship game. There’s no reason I should feel bad about that.

DawginTX UGa has 73% special admits on the football team. The school only has 6% for regular students. That is PATHETIC. 3/4’s of your team isn’t bright enough to get in school if it were not for football. College is about EDUCATION first unless we are talking SEC football.

Jimbo Fisher’s FSU offense is actually worse than Richt/Bobo’s UGA offense. When will Jimbo wake up and admit his offensive coaching and playcalling really sucks. FSU has no blocking whatsoever from the offensive line and as a result has no hope of a running or passing game ! FSU’s offense is dead in the water, but Notre Dame is also offensively challenged at quarterback. Both of these teams are pathetic on offense, but year in and out both of them brag and boast how great they recruit. They bring in top recruiting classes just for the coaches to dumb the players down on the field. Kind of reminds me of what happens at UGA annually on offense. James Wilder Jr., FSU’s top recruit last year is a bust at running back behind the woeful FSU offensive line and needs to move back to linebacker. It appears the restless FSU fans are as fed up with the pathetic offensive performances as Georgia fans are when Aaron Murray quarterback the Dawgs against a team with a winning record. If Jimbo can’t get it together maybe FSU will dump him and take Richt off UGA’s hands in 2014.

Nebraska’s QB would be mediocre if they played in the MAC. I’ll take S. Carolina.

Michigan St. has the best QB in the Big Ten, but that just hasn’t been enough. Wait, that’s the situation at Georgia, too. I’ll take Georgia by 17.

Utah is bigger on both lines. Brian Bohannon as OC may not be enough to overcome the Jackets’ defense. If that means CPJ is concentrating on special teams while looking over Al Groh’s shoulder, this game may come down to a punt return for a TD by Tech and 2 blocked field goals for the win.

Alabama has an SEC-grade QB; LSU does not. It’s still a mystery to me why Les Miles benched the starter and played with an “athlete” the last few games of the season. Alabama wins by 3 FGs.

Notre Dame scored on a defensive return of a FSU fumble. Watching FSU & Tech on offense is like watching rugby or soccer ! LOL ! No wonder ACC Tech is 1-11 vs. Richt. December 29th, 2011

SEC office took it easy on Ala, LSU and Ark. They each missed having a sure loss by not having to play UGA next year. Take away the turnovers and punt returns (Yeah I know they count) and SC and LSU would have been whomped by UGA this year. LSU will lose to Ala in phony BC game again. I give Ala the first game due to the bad call by the SEC officials (worst in America) that took away a reception from Ala and made it an interception for LSU. The Ala receiver had both hands on the ball and in his possession when he was on the ground which means a reception and play is over. LSU player took ball from Ala players hands after play is over. In short Ala was ripped off by SEC officials. Reminds me of SEC oficials ripping off UGA when they gave AJ a personal foul and resulted in 15 yd penalty setting up LSU with a win. Something smells between LSU and officials.

kral and you don’t think some can get worse? You know some players are leaving and some will possibly get hurt. Isn’t that basically how the Preseason rankings go? They are based on what teams do this year. Ga Sou. will not be that good because they will have a new QB, but that is a FCS team. 3-9, 1-11 OOC teams are not going to get that much better to compete with UGa’s talent. You don’t really believe that Buffalo and Fla Atl can compete now do you? GT has the best record of the teams on the 2012 schedule that you beat. Well like you dawgs love to say 11-1 so Tech can’t even compete. That is 4 wins now add Vandy(5), Kentucky(6), and Ole Miss(7) and UGA is going bowling already. So Tenn, FL, and Auburn are your good wins and make (10). Mizzou is an Unknown on the road. USC has a D but can Shaw and Lattimore beat the dawgs?

DawginTX

December 29th, 2011
8:23 pm

The record of Tech’s opponents next year, excluding UGA, is 65-69 (I don’t include the UGA vs Tech game because if we are comparing records, Tech will amost always get more credit for playing Georgia than vice-versa, which is penalizing Georgia for being a better football team). The record of Georgia’s opponents next year, excluding Tech, is 63-71. So the winning percentage of Tech’s oppenents is .0149 higher. About 2/3s of the combined records were against respective conference opponents, so the winning percentage fails to account for the SEC being the #1 conference and the ACC being #4. Also, Georgia obviously beat more teams than Tech did this year, so opponent’s records are going to reflect that.

DawginTX You can’t count Ga Sou. a FCS team please they don’t count towards bowl victories so drop them. You have to count UGA in GT’s wins and loses. You do some funky math, but not UGA fans strong suit. You can’t try to manipulate the conference thing either. Like UGA fans love to say,” You just have to play the people on your schedule”.
No Matter it still stands that UGa fans should take a House payment amount to Vegas in the preseason and take the odds on the Dawgs to go 12-0. In a great year 5 or 6 teams have a real shot at going 12-0. By the 9th week that is usually 3 or 4 teams.

Nebraska, Bug a haw neck. I didn’t mention how many N C’s Bama had. I doesn’t matter. We are a good team, Jaw Jaw has never been good. Period. So I was at the Falcon’s game on last Thursday night and a Bama fan yelled Roll Tide. I said “Roll Tide” back to him. A little sawed off Jaw Jaw fan yelled out Bama sucks. I turned and told him , “so do all little pucks around here hate Bama. He said…… nothing. He was a little Jaw Jaw fan with NO Balls. Just like you.

How much do I hate the Bullpups??? I would root for the Taliban if they were playing the Dawgs!

That being said, Dawg fans everywhere have gotta be smiling big with McGarity as your AD. He’s got the 2012 schedule, at worst, as easy as he set up UF’s. I’d say it’s easier b/c FSU is usually better than GT (FSU, UF’s common OOC opponent….GT UGA’s common OOC opponent).

UGA will start the season ranked high, and with a schedule that has only 4 teams capable of beating UGA (SC, UF, Mizzo, GT), MR should be fired if the Dawgs aren’t 12-0 headed to SEC CG. PLUS, notice how McGarity has GA Southern, SAME triple option as GT, the week before GT. If the Dawgs lose to GT in 2012 it’ll be the biggest L in MR’s career.

In today’s college football, it doesn’t “pay” to play 12 good/very good/great teams b/c more than likely there will be an L or 2 in there, and that means NO BCS Championship. See UF when McGarity was AD. The guys has hampster balls.

As a resident of Tampa. I would like to welcome my SEC brothers from UGA. We all hope those of you who visit our area enjoy your time in South Florida. We hope all of our SEC teams win their games and make us proud. It would be grand to see more than half the teams in the top 10 from the SEC.

Here is a neat website that will aid some of you on your visit to the area.

http://www.tampabay.com/things-to-do/

As someone else previously mentioned, if you get a chance take a water taxi in downtown Tampa or rent a pontoon and ride along the Hillsborough river to the bay and you will see the homes and mansions of many of our local celebrities including multiple NY Yankees, Jeter, ARod, as well as several Generals including Schwarzkoph, and many many more. The route will also take you waterfront to some great places to eat, a view of The Forum, The Cruise Ships and some great islands to enjoy a relaxing day with a picnic. The Tampa Bay Downs is located on the Northwest side of town and offers some great Thoroughbred Horse Racing and offers some the highest payouts in the nation. Racing there will run Friday, and Saturday. The Clearwater Beach is always hopping and for family settings head toward St. Pete Beach where there is plenty of parking. For you Forest Gump Fans head down to the Treasure Island area and hit Bubba Gumps.

Enjoy your time in the area.

Good luck to all of your teams and Go SEC!

UGA has a weak schedule for 2012. At worst the Dawgs go 9-3 or 10-2 again with losses to Missouri and South Carolina on the road. Then the Gamecocks lose to Arkansas and LSU. Don’t be surprised to see UGA fall to improving Vandy in the future, but if they can survive the Commodores in 2012, the Dawgs again get a ticket to the SECCG only to be walloped again by LSU or Alabama.

The best that the Dawgs can do is to win the SEC East with the Richt/Bobo braintrust. There will be no national title runs with Aaron Murray at quarterback, just like Joe Cox before him. The Dawgs window for national title contention really closed when 3 years of D.J.Shockley’s eligibility was squandered by Richt. Stafford was just a passing breeze waiting on the chance to declare for the NFL draft. He was never commited to UGA. All UGA can do now is hope for and be content with 9 or 10 win seasons over mediocre opponents with 2 to 3 losses to any ranked teams per year. Richt won’t make the changes needed to take Georgia to the next level because he would have to renounce his current second tier structure at QB, OC, and the entire offensive philosophy. He can’t and won’t breakdown to improve what he doesn’t see needs to be fixed. Richt has to be what he is which is a bridesmaid, because he will never have what it takes to win it all and earn a ring. Even his mentor, Bobby Bowden questioned Richt’s heart/mindset and said he didn’t feel Richt had that killer instinct needed to win it all consistently in the SEC. Remember how hard he lobbied for UGA’s number two final ranking after the Dawgs beat over-rated Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl a few years ago. That’s classic Richt. It’s great to be number 2 because 118 programs would love finish number two. He’s a good guy but the hunger or drive is simply not there to ever finish at number one ( unless it’s a down year for the entire top ten and another team’s win clears a path for the Dawgs to back in to a top ranking). It may happen in the SEC East, but you won’t a national title like that.

Thus UGA will never win a national title under Richt, but the Dawgs can settle for mediocre 9 or 10 wins per year. The UGA brass would have to fire Richt after a 9-3 season to make a real run at the MNC and that’s simply not going to happen for at least another 5 to 7 years from now. So Georgia is stuck with bridesmaid Richt like it or not. So get used to Richt and wife kissing at the end of games celebrating second tier status. Do us a favor Richt, don’t kiss your wife after a game again unless it’s a UGA victory at the SECCG !!

Green is all-pro, where the frick is Julio? There has been something rotten in the city of Atlanta for 45!!! plus plus years!!!!!!, methinks it is the Atlanta Falcons….an American tragedy

Mr Charlie

December 27th, 2011

1. 2-6 against Payton, not 2-8.

2. Agreed.

3. I was calling JJ a bust, but that is not really fair. However, the “one play away” philosophy never works. As I said on draft day, name one “blockbuster” all for trade that has ever worked out.

4. As it stands now, I would agree, however, as I said last night, in the grand scheme of things, the game was somewhat meaningless. So, before we decide that coaches need to be fired, I believe they should be evaluated after the playoffs. It we make noise in the playoffs, this game is a footnote if not, this game is a catalyst for change.

5. Bad calls for sure, untimely penalties.

6. That is what they said about Leeman Bennett, and that exact philosophy led us directly to here.

7. Really the crux of our problems.

8. As I said, this win was more needed more for us than anything. But all pretty much gets forgivin and forgotten with a few playoff wins.

In summary, you are never as bad, or as good, as you think you are. However great teams show up for big games, and we have not to date. Fortunately, unlike last year, we do need to wait 9 months to take the field again, hopefully, we will get this taste out of our mouth much sooner. Time to move on, and like everything in life, is it now what happens, but how you respond.

LSU rolls the tide (only if there is justice in this world)

and………the once Mighty Gators manage to win by a final score of 5-3 over the Buckeyes. Two offensive juggernauts on display in a half-empty Gator Bowl. Oh, how the Mighty have fallen!

I see yet another tard has bought into the “best team didn’t win” crap with Bama.

Let’s look at the facts:

1.Bama got BEAT on their home field.

2. Bama had ONE trip into the red zone all night.

3. A goofy fotted kicker didn’t loose it for them, Saban’s bone headed caching lost it for them. As the world’s greatest fooball coach, he should have known better than to keep trotting out kickers he knew were going to miss. Which leads to #4

4. Nick Saban was out coached by Les Miles…….AGAIN.

LSU wins by 10.

Dawgs might not of had any say-so on this 1 year schedule adjustment, but still the same, I hate the fact that Bama was dropped for Mizzou. I hate playing an easy schedule and yes our Dawgs will be made fun of and poked at UNTIL we can beat a top ranked opponent. MSU does not really count though would be a good start.
Have to beat LSU or Bama to get the recognition so having Bama taken off our schedule stinks. I’m not saying that we would have won that game, but the opportunity would have been there.
Now we have to listen to the easy schedule crap for another year. Still, there is nothing easy about being on the road against Missou & SC. I don’t expect UF to be as bad as they were, but still very down compared to recent years. Auburn might improve…… OK, I was trying to make myself feel better, the only 2 tough games are Missou & SC.

They’ve had basically the same defense for the past 2 seasons so I would have to think that a lot of those guys are on their way out. I say this because all this “UGA is dodging Bama” talk seems to be premised on the assumption that they will be a top SEC team again next year and that might not be the case. If Bama is only a 9 or 10 win team next year I don’t see what the big deal is if UGA doesn’t play them.

@bamaguy I doubt we get to set a record for consecutive SEC Championship Game loses.I think before that happens somehow we get to play the Tide and blow your bunches doors off. I think the title game is the only way we ever get to corner your bunch into a game….face it Saban has so much clout he is getting to play in the BCS championship game without winning his division let alone his conference . And they are playing a team that has already kicked his butt once this year already…if he wanted UGA on the Tide’s schedule you really don’t see Mike Slive and the rest of his Sabanites in the SEC office right there in Birmingham turning him down do you? I love the morons that think that UGA doesn’t want to play Bama, hell the biggest motivation for winning the East again next year is that there is a small chance Bama can beat LSU then the Tide can’t duck us.

@WDE, it matters not whether Bama or Arkansas, or the probable West champ, LSU, what matters is the fact that the dogs are not in theur league, and will get hammered again, because outside of Mizzou, USCe, Vandy, and GT, there is nobody on your schedule that will test them, so IF they win the East, they will again go in highly overconfident, and will get embarrassed again. Remember, LSU loses very few off their team, and will have Mett at QB.

The truth is the SEC has one purpose and one purpose only, to generate revenue for the member schools. If you look at the 2012 schedule is is all about the new TV markets expansion brought. UGA vs Missouri will generate a very large TV audience inclusive of St. Louis along with the traditional SEC markets. Same for Alabama vs Texas A&M.

Nobody at the SEC front office is prejudiced for or against any one school. It is all, and I do mean ALL, about the money.

Okay since you think you know all about UGA/ Alabama/Florida Football with you idiotic posts. lets review.

UGA loses 3 linemen. With little to no play time against the big boys with the exception of Auburn. Does not look very good for the running backs and Murray in 2012. Your defense will be fine as Grantham has put in place a pretty good Saban clone system.

Alabama, has all but one linemen returning next season and it looks like Barrett Jones will move to center to raise his stock. By the way he graduated a year ago as a sophomore. The backs at Alabama are deep, Lacey, Sims, Hart, Yeldon, and Fowler are all studs and are big strong backs. Bama will not have that one big name back but that makes defenses play more honestly against the pass. Got to love the fact that everyone thinks McCarron is just an average qb. As a sophomore he has done more than well and has the one of the strongest arms in the league. In the system he plays in the QB does not have to win games. Running game and Defense wins games. By the way, Alabama played extensively 12 OL each game. Rotating players on both sides of the ball have put Alabama in a great position. The defense will lose 7 players, 3 of those have players who are better athletes who split time with and ask any NFL scout and they will tell you that Alabama and LSU have stacked NFL caliber players on the 3 team depth charts . Not worried about UGA and how many wins they get, it all gets washed out throughout the season.

Urban left Florida because he wanted to keep that winning percentage high. That’s the only way he could demand the $ that he has. He also knew the ship was sinking fast. The recruiting was not up to their expectation and he knew there would be a rebuild period.
Mark Richt, on the other hand, hung in there through the rebuild stage and never flinched. The guy paid his own assistants when Drunkard Damon wouldn’t do the right thing. People hate Richt for the same reason they hate Tebow, he’s a man of God 1st and foremost. He is who he is, and with the majority of the UGA fans screaming for a change, he stood tall.

I think it’ll help that the Utes’ RB is a little banged-up, and they are using a backup QB, but with 2 STARTERS watching from the ATL (DB Young, OL Smith) b/c of disciplinary reasons I’m wondering just how focused the Jackets are?

GT wouldn’t beat Boise, South Carolina or LSU, so don’t think I’m hatin on the Dawgs GA Fans, so don’t go throwing GT into the GOOD category. And this coming from a GT fan. The Jackets are AVG to GOOD. They were GOOD against Clemson, and GOOD enough vs. VT, but other than that did a GOOD GT beat Duke? Answer is No.

UGA-MSU … the Dawgs have played 3 GOOD teams this season, and that’s why they have 3 Ls. Michigan State will be UGA’s only win over a GOOD team should the Dawgs prevail, which I think they will.

I agree 2 is too small of a pool. 4 would double the pool and be a better option, but believe me, you will have the same whine and shine from #5 thru #10 teams.

One thing the currency BCS system does well is: get everybody involved in a heated argument, which could be a big factor college football is so popular, which is the kind of enthusiasm you don’t see with basketball or NFL.

With that in mind, I am OK(not satisfied) with the current system.

Well, WDE, I would hope that teams in the East improve their record next season, because as poor as they were this season, they have nowhere to go but up. It is certainly better than what we had prior to the BCS. The problem is here is it didn’t resolve the age old argument. It was almost a no-brainer this year although as you know, I think OSU Pokes got the shaft and we have to watch a rematch dressed up as a BCS championship game but, it is, what it is.

You are correct on the continual whine but, a minimum 8 team possible 12 team playoff is easily doable. Rarely is there 8 teams with a bonafide contention to be national champs. And there is always the argument about the 9th team “coulda” beat the eventual champ but again, it is what it is.

JMac2011

December 30th, 2011
12:22 pm

I am sure they will. Talking to Bama fans, I have found out that they do not think they have lost a game in about 10 years. They have some sort of excuse. Against LSU it was the missed FG, but as I told them, that is part of the game. You make some, you miss some. Just part of the game. If the line had blocked better, they might have made the blocked FG, but… they didn’t. Bottom line, the team that puts up the most points is the better team on the field that day. LSU was the better team. South Carolina was better than UGA, and on that particular day, Auburn was better than USCe. Bama fans need to let the Bear rest in his grave, get a life and realize their team is mortal.

the way you worded you sound like all no BAMA fans know missing field goals is part of the game. To the contrary, most BAMA went mute after the game, which tells me they took it as “a loss is a loss”.

If you go back to the AJC blogs, you would know lots of dawg fans complained the better team lost in the SC-UGA game.

So be careful with you brush painting a big group. All college fans are loyal to a fault, UGA fans are not that different than BAMA fans.

No, I work with and know several BIG Bama fans, and I stand by what I said. And yes, I know that too. That is why I said that the team with the most points is the best team that day. I happen to believe USCe is a better team than UGA, and will win again in ‘12. But, the better team is the team that can put a W beside the score, and the worse team has the L. LSU had the W against the Tide, and nothing can change that. I also feel they will get their 3rd straight W on Jan 9, and 4th straight on Nov 3. They will be even more loaded next season than this season.

No one dispute that, because it really depends on you mean by “the better team”.

Just don’t forget to tell some of your UGA friends.

Yes LSU got the W in that previous Bama game but it didn’t achieve much did it? They have to beat them again to be champions. I do agree with you though about the general entitlement of Bama fans. The worse group of fans in the country. They do consider themselves as undefeated by-in-large (in regulation). The LSU loss is for the most part ignored

Those of you that think Bama will slide in 2012 then you go right ahead and dream. The Bama squad is loaded for 2012 and 2013. The reason for the 10-3 in 2010 was due to Nick’s 1st class was weak and two of those best players went early to the NFL (1st round…Jackson and McClain). The SEC is Bama and LSU and then the rest. You don’t have to like it but you will have to deal with it. Bama beats LSU for the glass ball so go ahead and deal with it now so you can avoid the rush on the 9th.

Bama has never been able to run with any consistency against LSU, even though Richardson will be the best RB in the game. He has never run real well, and has never crossed the goal line against LSU. In fact, he tried last season, and got his bell rung, and was invisible in the 2nd half. He is really their only threat. The receivers are only average, the QB no better than either Tiger QB. LSU will continue to do what they have done all season and that is to wear down the opponent in the first half, and win the game in the 2nd half. Their rotating defensive front will tire Bama”s O line, just like last time, and do not forget the edge with the D’backs. Mo Claiborne, and the honey badger will take care of business. LSU also holds a decided edge in special teams, as their punter is possibly the best, as a freshman, in the NCAA, and they know that their kicker can make the pressure packed FG. LSU played it straight and won the game while Bama tried a couple of trick plays to try to get an edge, and they backfired. Saban will be outcoached again by Miles, and when the clock reads 00:00, the W will again be beside the LSU score, and the L beside the Alabama score, and they will prove once and forever that LSU is a better team. They proved it once, and will prove it again.

JMac2011

making sense and being reality are two different things. UGA fans live in a dream world of their own. There was no way to win the SECCG. They were totally overmatched. Yes, they have alot of talent, but under the direction of CMR, they did exactly what was expected of them. They gave their all in the first half, then LSU gave their all in the 2nd half, and the difference in their bests was quite striking. It served as a perfect example of the lightweight games they won to get there, while LSU showed the work ethic of a battle tested team. They were never worried. They knew they had the game. UGA is just a second tier team that was unlucky enough to win the East. Bama fans had alot more hope, but they still fell short on their home field with an extremely partial crowd screaming. They had ideal conditions to win the game, but they could not get it done. In the Superdome, LSU is 4-0 with 2 BCSNC wins, and the last time Alabama played there, they got their butts kicked from goalpost to goalpost by a team who calls themselves the “Utes”. After Jan 9, LSU will be 5-0 in the Superdome, and will become the ONLY team in the BCS era to win 3, count ‘em THREE BCSNC. They have alot more to play for than Bama has. They will get it done.

JMac2001,

I am glad someone finally brought up the points that you mentions. Alot of these folks on the Bama wagon must have been watching a different game than I did. It’s not like Bama rolled up 500 yds of offense. They had around 290 and LSU finished around 230 or so. When LSU shut Richardson down in the 2nd half Bama had no answer as you mentioned, he is their only playmaker. The to’s were even. Also, last I checked Bama didn’t pull a new kicker down from the stands to kick again this time, so they still have the same kicker they did in November. The misses were all from 45+ (excluding the one blocked that was makeable). A college kicker making 50% of kicks from 45+ is pretty good, you guys are delusional to think this kid should have made those.

I expect LSU to use a ton of option offense and counter plays from tight formations to expose Bama’s weakness of laterally covering the field and over pursuing. I also expect the LSU defense to do what they do.

More points than last time, and LSU will prove AGAIN they are the better team! LSU wins 27-13.

JMac. You’re an idiot. The turnover ratio (whichever team wins it) is a leading indicator as to which team will win the game. UGA was pounding LSU in the first half and had that game in hand until (a) it decided to punt the ball twice to HB (#7) and (b) Aaron Murray fumbled ball start of second half. UGA had 3 turnovers; LSU 0. That was the game.

Just ask TampaBay Buccaneers if turnovers matter. You go research that team’s turnover ratio and you’ll see that this season is a complete gaff vs. last year.

Also, UGA dominated the stat sheet vs LSU this year in the SECCG. LSU was able to turn the game on big plays (just like BSU, USC and LSU did vs us this year). We will see you next year in the SECCG; get ready!

Do the people on this board even watch the GT games? You all keep blaming Johnson and his offense when in reality, most of our losses are due to defensive lapses and mistakes on STs. Like today, the defense allowed two TDs in the final 5 minutes to force OT. As bad as that is, it wouldn’t have mattered had GT had any 1 of the 3 missed FGs in regulation.

Dilusional JMac,

Jest another delusional dawg fan. Only a dawg fan could take a 42-10 asswhupping and then turn around and say his team was the better team. Its nothing short of comical. Also turnovers are part of the game son. And in case you didn’t know they are often caused by a tough, swarming defense, great dbs, great pass rush, etc. Dawg fans saying that they should have won a game that they got their asses kicked by 30 pts. I always knew dawg fans were delusional but they’ve now reached a new high in delusional thought.

I wouldn’t go that far. They still have South Carolina to contend with. Nevertheless dawg fans got to really be breathing a lot easier knowing they don’t have to take a certain asswhipping from Bama. And please doggies. Spare the delusional crap that you could hang with them. Come to think of it for the 2nd year in a row that dawgs get to hide from the big 3 in the west- Bama, LSU, and Ark. Alabama was scheduled to whip the dog’s asses but with the conference expansion they picked up both A&M and Missouri in their first years in the league and so UGA managed to hide from Bama. Stay in your little corner doggies. What is it? 31 years now without a national title??? Gawd you guys suck.
