Are Matt Ryan and the Falcons headed forward? We'll find out Monday night in New Orleans. (Curtis Compton/AJC)
NEW ORLEANS — There have been enough times over the 40-plus seasons of Falcons-Saints games when we knew it really told us nothing about the future, other than maybe who would be happier once their hangover wore off.
One team stunk. Both teams stunk. Neither fan base was deluded into believing their team was that great, just better than the other one. It was the closest thing the NFL got to a college rivalry.
But the meeting in New Orleans Monday night will be different. This game likely will tell us something about the future for the Falcons. They’re almost certainly headed to the playoffs, and it’s possible their first-round game will be in the Superdome.
We know about the Saints: They’ve won six straight. Drew Brees, coach Mike Smith said, “is operating at a level we probably haven’t seen,” having thrown 16 touchdowns and zero interceptions in the last five games. Because of Brees, New Orleans is a Super Bowl threat.
We don’t really about the Falcons: They’ve played their best six quarters of the season consecutively. But that has come against Carolina (6-9) and Jacksonville (4-11), so they’re not quite feeling a group hug yet.
Their 9-5 record breaks down this way: 7-1 against teams currently with losing records, 2-4 against teams with winning or .500 records (including Chicago, which was 7-7 going into its game at Green Bay game Sunday night.).
The Falcons were viewed as a title contender at this time a year ago, and we know where that got them. They’re viewed as something less than that now. They’ll tell you they’re fine with that because they have the wild card/Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers as a reference point. But this is when the Packers stepped on the gas a year ago (winning their last two before the playoffs, including 45-17 over the Giants in game 15).
This is when the Falcons can begin to define direction and alter perceptions.
“It’s an important game because we’re going down the stretch and this is a big test for us,” wide receiver Roddy White said. “This could be a really big statement game for us, especially if we have to go back down there to play these guys again in two weeks.”
The Saints haven’t clinched the NFC South yet. But for the Falcons to win the division and clinch a home playoff game, they would have to win in the Superdome and again next week over Tampa Bay, then hope New Orleans loses its finale against Carolina. In that scenario, the Falcons would be the NFC’s No. 3 seed and host a first-round game against Detroit. As a wild card, the Falcons would travel to either the NFC East winner (Dallas or New York) if they’re the fifth seed, or New Orleans or San Francisco if they’re the the sixth seed (which ever opponent had the lesser record).
The scenarios would be different if the Falcons hadn’t, in their view, given away a game to New Orleans six weeks ago. The Saints won in overtime 26-23. You might recall something about a fourth-and-1 decision by coach Mike Smith in overtime that backfired. But Atlanta also had three red zone possessions that resulted in only field goals. Matt Bryant missed a field goal. Quarterback Matt Ryan threw an interception that led to three Saints’ points.
If any of those things fall the Falcons’ way, the teams probably are tied at 10-4 today instead of separated by two games. That game still stings.
“Guys have had this game circled,” Smith said.
“This is the one that we want,” White said.
“When we lost, we knew this game would be here later on in the season,” center Todd McClure said. “We want to go back and get a little revenge.”
This is their chance. The Falcons’ playoff lives aren’t on the line. But how they play against one of the league’s better teams should tell us something more about where they’re going.

They better win or at least play well against the Saints – starting to look like a loss to the Saints might just make New Orleans our first round opponent!

HiRam Taint. you are the one running your mouth about 17 points. You took the $100 bet. I will not lose. I am here all the time you have never seen me run and hide.

The only difference between 2011 & 2008 – 2010 is that CHOKE will have no draft to make him look even more 2nd string
If CHOKE doesn’t get a playoff win this season, will Blank be so patient to pull the trigger? I think not.
After this Monday night beating by the Saints & Brees Legend it will be a LOT of pressure vs Tampa just to make the playoffs
Meanwhile, you can count on Flacco doing his annual playoff win celebration

So if the Falcants are lucky enough to get the 6th seed, they will probably be traveling back to New Orleans or up to San Francisco and start their 2013 draft watch
Then they will enter the 2012 season with a 27 year old 5 year veteran. Can’t use the too young excuse anymore.
I don’t think Blank will be silent on his expectations.
5 years of no playoff wins. Hell Mora got fired after 3 seasons, and that included a championship game

That stat says it all
Like I have been saying: CHOKE beats up the bottom dweller & CHOKEs versus legit teams.
It’s pretty simple, this CLOWN is not INTELLIGENT enough to read a quality defense and therefore he will NEVER win a playoff game.

CHOKE, geez, now why are you going to your moldy deck of cards and pulling out the “Flacco” card again. Yes, I know, he’s “won” a few playoff games (although those on here will dispute tying a win solely to a quarterback)…but please, go check his stats, both this year and his career in the playoffs. Career playoff rating, 61.6, and 5 of his 7 career playoff games with raings of 62 or less…and c’mon, a rating of 10 in one game and 18.2 in another. Ryan Leaf laughs at those numbers. You make some valid points and are good for a few laughs, but not much is funnier than you trying to use Flacco to denigrate Ryan. By the way, Ryan’s passer rating in his two playoff games, 71.2.

Here are the ## regarding Ryan — 42-20. That’s the Falcons’ record in games he has started. That’s a winning percentage of .677, and it puts him in high company. Brady and Roethelisberger have won at a higher rate, and so has Rodgers, if barely. (He was 44-21 entering Sunday’s game.) But that .667 beats the great Peyton Manning’s career winning percentage, which is .661. so he will be ok

it breaks down like this. if atlanta doesnt go for it in first game, and played on an punted. the d was stopping brees. it did so for a few series back to back. say we win that game. mnf would be the tie breaker, we would be 10-4 and tied with the saints, and brees wouldnt be gettin all the talk cause they lost. we would have won without Julio. think about it. the games we struggled either we didnt get the ball to julio, or he was injured. in games he touches the ball we win. toss out the opener, as the team wasnt ready to play, as was alot of teams.
so stop all your skepticism. this offseason was nil. this team needs to gel over time. it might work to our advantage. matty ice got a solid win at detriot, took a nasty hit, missed like one play, and hit harry on a deep route. matty ice also out performed brees that day, and didnt have julio. add that one offensive factor, and the Saints gonna be scared. watch, julio will deal in the dome. worth every penny and pick. he hasnt even peaked.

Bears reminding: Things are going good when Mr. Choke can only harp on the current lack of playoff wins in Atlanta since whenever they won last with a certain QB no longer in Atlanta. I don’t know what name Choke went under Ryan’s rookie year, but I recall clearly the preseason taunts of 2-14 – 3-13 if lucky season. Quickly disproved. I remember clearly the bloggers saying Ryan would throw a boatload of Int’s. I believe over all he’s been pretty good in that Dept . ..some bad streaks here and there, but usually 2-1 TDs. I’m sure whatever name Choke went under then, he was going haywire every time there was an Int and waiting for the Ryan to break down into the turnover machine . . .which didn’t happen. Then there was the dinking and dunking . . . . .well they seem to be getting downfield a bit more this year, not yet proving he can “throw the long-ball”. We don’t even have to go into 4 consecutive winning seasons, and a very good W-L Team record when he is starting QB. Flacco has more wins than Ryan in Playoffs for sure . . .but Choke . . he also has more losses. We all know once / if that first Playoff Win happens you’ll move on to the next thing. Either no NFC Championship or no SB. Merry X-Mas Choke . . . . .sorry the Falcons current QB has not turned up to be a lump of coal.

Hey Matt “Choke” Ryan,
Step from behind the curtain. You’re a Vick fan, but obviously can’t muster the courage to say so. So Vick has a playoff win. Ryan has back to back to back to back winning seasons. Vick, not one back to back ever here, or Philly but yet gets a 100 million dollar contract based on last years performace which by the way was a tell of two seasons. First half, very good, second, not so good. This year not so good. See the trend. 1.5 years not so good.

Same goes with Paterno. I hope Penn State gets the Boise coach and he wins a NC in 3 years. Serves PSU for hold on to Joe. For the record. Before 88, PSU 11 times finished in top 5. After 88, 3 times in the top 5 and no NCs.

And again . . . .lets go back to that 1st season with our current QB . . . ..how many of the detractors said this team was going backwards and wouldn’t see a winning season with him at the helm. A Playoff Win would be great, a couple awesome, 3 or 4 . .SUPERB. But, I’ll come down to earth . . .the detractors never expected playoffs never mind 3 out of 4 years. Hence, the 0-2 Playoffs argument is where they go. Much nicer to have them arguing that point then their original points when the current QB was drafted.

HEY CHOKE! Read it and weep! A.P. story from Sunday’s AJC on the Eagles loss. “Despite their late-season surge — a three-game winning streak — the Eagles (7-8) aren’t going to the playoffs. That’s the reality for this Dream Team.
So before they begin looking ahead to next season, they’re thinking about the ‘what ifs?’ One play could be the difference in several of the losses, especially because the Eagles blew five fourth-quarter leads.
Michael Vick and his teammates wasted an opportunity to repeat as division champions in a mediocre NFC East that will crown a champion — either the Cowboys or New York Giants — with no more than nine wins.”
Now do us all a favor,Choke. Turn off you computer, crawl back into you hole and stay there until NEXT season. Or until your Mommy says you can come out! What a COMPLETE LOSER! Michael Vick FOREVER,RIGHT CHOKE?

To all Anti-Falcons fans:
Why do you care so much about the Falcons? Why you even bother reading and commenting on our newspaper blogs and columns? Either:
A.) You are jealous of our team because your team is not as good.
B.) You are afraid of our team?
C.) You are a low life with NO life and being here making comments gives you a purpose for living.
D.) You are not from Atlanta, and you left your crap-fest city and brought your crap here.
E.) You are a Vick fan still b–tchin’ cause he got his own butt kicked off the team.
F.) All of the above.
There is little other reason for you to be here. Non-Falcon fans, by you coming here and making comments about the Falcons proves my point. If I am wrong, prove. Leave and don’t comment.
Oh by the way –
1.) The Falcons are in the playoffs. Deal with it.
2.) Mike Vick and the Eagles will be home and watching the playoffs. Deal With it.
3) You are still you and you hate your life. Deal with it.

Jeff, I’m not sure a loss here defines the Falcon’s future. NO is good. The Falcons are good and starting to hit their stride. I’m not conceding a loss here, but 10-6 does not stink and regardless of who they beat, they beat equally put together NFL teams. They played good teams well, some days, and they are starting to hit their stride. I had the Falcons’ loosing this game at the beginning of the season, and won’t be surprised if they do loose (it’s in the toilet dome and over Christmas etc.).
I think a loss here, as long as the Falcons play a good game, just helps them tool up for the tournament. Remember, its getting hot at the right time, not beating teams when it does not matter, and frankly, this game really has no meaning.

Do anyone knows if we lose tonight and win next week vs Tampa, do we still get the 5th seed? Does Detroit go all out to win their last game vs Packers (who will rest everyone now that they got the #1 seed).
I think the Lions will go all out to avoid the Saints.

Our offensive line found itself, Jones is in the game and they have had a equivalent to a bye week. The only downside is they are playing in NO against the second best team in football. A far cry from anything we have had in the past, this time of year. Congratulations and keep getting better Falcons, I love it.

How strange is this.
No other team plays the Saints as well as the Falcons in terms of keeping them in relative check. The last few games decided by a field goal. So despite whatever takes place tonight, its a very strong possibility that the Falcons will play the Saints a 3rd time this year. (Two times in 2 weeks beginning tonight and possible next week if we fall to the 5the seed).

There is the chance that we beat the Saints tonight and the Carolina Panthers beating them next week. At the very least, if we beat the Saints tonight, the Saints will have to play ALL their starters to avoid losing to Cam Newton and the Panthers, while the Falcons will have the chance to rest starters and STILL beat the Buccaneers! ! !
Love it. Love it Love it.
Beat the Saints tonight, and all bets are off.

Is Grimes playing? If not Brees has a huge night and we all remember Mike Smith’s decision to go for it on 4th in OT. AJC press will tell us how great we’ll be next year but won’t tell it like it is on our horrible offensive game plan. Turner up the gut on 3rd and long, anyone?

Saints better PRAY they not lose their last 2 games – That would bring the playoffs to the Ga Dome and I like our chances vs Lions in the first round in the DOME.
A Saints loss tonight would force them to play their their starters next week against the surging Panthers next week to avoid losing the division.

I am concerned that the Falcons will play poorly on National TV. It has happened too often when the defensive ends rush in the middle and give up contain and Brees beat them with the boot. Guys must stay in their lanes if we are to win against the run.

Uh im not sure on this one. I hear what theyre saying but the Saints are on a roll but in the end im afraid the only success Atlanta will have is to come out on all cylinders and hope for the best. Hard to stop a roll and sometimes all you do is slow it down a bit.
Other than Green Bay, the Saints are the 2nd hottest team. Im sure New Orleans will come to the game ready to play but not so much to PLAY FOR.
They have a 6 game streak and a 2 game lead. I stenciled this in as a loss because Atlanta couldnt really produce yards on the ground and they were more non productive than productive at Home. I take Atlantas Defense over New Orleans but the deciding factor is QB’;s where i give the nod to Drew Brees.
Mentally tougher and Physically able to take punishment whereas Matty cant. In close games i’d have to take Brees over Ryan. Just a better type QB you’d want on your team to be successful. Ryan hears footsteps then he bows to the pressure and falls down or gets tackled when flushed out.
In the Dome the atmosphere is different, they are very loud and no matter what the score is, they keep cheering the Saints on.
I’d really wish Smith would use another running back more often than not, getting tired of seeing our overpaid RB Turner hit clogged holes, lose yardage because he’s too slow and just gives up.
Good luck Falcons i’ll be watching n hoping but i think it wont be that close actually. 37-20

Jeff makes points out the Falcons record against winning vs losing teams. Where is the break down of the Saints record? How can it be that much different. The Falcons played the schedule given to them by the NFL and it was designed to be more difficult than the Saints because of last years results.
Watch the holding by the Saints secondary all game. Then expect a flag on the Falcons for holding late in the game….
NFL has a lot invested in the sewer called New Orleans. Why do you think they suddenly were good right after Katrina? Who is actually paying Brees salary? The redneck owner of the Saints? Get real clowns….

FACT
The Falcons defensive backfield is outclassed and outnumbered by Saints receivers. Advantage – Cafe DuMonde beignets
The Saints Jon Vilma is still not 100 per cent and Tony Gonzalez is hungry for a championship game appearance. Advantage So So Def Records
Drew Brees saw Katrina as an opportunity, could marry my sister, has a Super Bowl under his belt, stars on spots for NyQuill, the NFL mobile app and ESPN. Matt Ryan had one spot for Air Tran. Advantage – Jazz Fess
The MB Superdome is a classier joint than the Georgia Dome. Advantage – Real Housewives of Atlanta
New Orleans has Louis Armstrong, The Zion Harmonizers, Treme, Brad Pitt, The Neville Brothers and Harry Connick Jr. Atlanta has Outkast and Left Eye, who torched Andre Rison’s crib. Advantage – Tyler Perry’s over-amplified and bufoonish storyline. You cannot make this stuff up
Head Coach Mike Smith vs Coach Sean Payton. Advantage – the fourth down marker.

I wish we could trade Matt Ryan but since that will never happen we have to upgrade our defense. The only way we’ll compete for a title is with a top 3 D. Matty “dink&dunk” is not a playmaker. And after next year when Turner’s skills have really diminished due to age, Ryan will not have a solid running game to hide his glaring deficiencies as a passer.

I’m sorry you guys, I can’t take this anymore. Matt Ryan stole my girlfriend in the third grade, I have no life so I just troll his message boards throwing out ridiculous stats over and over and over again, just hoping, nay, PRAYING, someone will respond and give me just an ounce of respect. You see, there’s nothing better to do down here in New Orleans except go party and spend the next day curled up in a ball reading Atlanta’s No. 1 hometown newspaper (since it’s far superior to ours) and trying to get all the Falcons fans’ goats. You see, it’s not that I necessarily HATE Atlanta, it’s more a sense of deep, deep jealousy that fuels my fire. I wish, oh wish so so so bad, that like Chris Paul I could demand a trade from New Orleans, but alas, I cannot; I am stuck here in NOLA, more specifically my couch, resigned to trolling Falcons articles, leaving negative comments, randomly CAPITALIZING WORDS I THINK ARE IMPORTANT and using awkward spacing in my comments.
So until I finally move to Atlanta, I guess, go Saints or whatever ;(

When the Saints lose tonight, they will be forced to win next week versus Cam Newton and the surging Panthers. It will be very interesting. It will force the Saints to play all their starters next week just to keep in first place and 1st round playoffs at the Mercedes Benz Stupid Dome.
When we win tonight, We will have a choice of resting our players next week against the hapless Bucs next week, while the Saints get desperate not to lose their final game.

MG3, exaclty. I guess MR2 has about 12 or so more years left in the NFL. IF he goes to the playoffs 75% of the time, that means he might have 9 more trips to the playoffs. My guess is he will win a playoff game or two before it is all said and done.
I really think the pivotal point of this season was in the Chicago game, the game was our or reach, Ryan was getting killed and he was yelling and screaming at his teammates to finish.
Mr Charlie

When the Chicago game was out of reach and, and Ryan was getting hit on every play, I expected Smitty to pull him, keep him healthy, and live to fight another day. But Ryan finished the game, kept getting knocked down, kept getting up telling his teammates to finish the game. That showed me more than anything. He took his last sack with .28 seconds left, it was probably stupid on Smittys standpoint, but MR2 was not about to come out of that game.

From Urban Dictionary…………….
Geaux:
A sound made to distinguish an awkward or inappropriate comment/moment.
A more extreme version of “yikes”.
Originates from the season 4 episode “Fast Times at Buddy Cianci Jr. High” of Family Guy.
Example 1:
Fish 1: You know what I hate? A guy in a blue suit.
Fish 2: Geaux!
Fish 3: Ssssss, there’s one right behind me, isn’t there?
Example 2:
Guy: I’m not sure, but I think I might be gay.
Others: Geaux!

For now I’m happy to be playing meaningful ball games in Dec & Jan year after year. Bree’s didn’t win anything until year 8 with his 2nd team.

Give me your chances:
Falcons beating Saints Tonight: My guess – 75%
Panthers beating Saints Next Week: My guess 50% (after all, the Panthers have nothing to lose. Cam playing great. Saints feel the pressure of not losing last two games.)
If that happens…we win the Division. And we get a 1st round home game vs Lions.
It all starts tonight.

Eagles Organization vs Falcons Organization:
Since some of you LOSERS asked for this, I will break it down for you.
The Eagles management actually have a long range plan when they make transactions, unlike the Falcons win they make rash and emotional decisions. The Eagles do not believe in sacrificing their draft picks to hype up their fan base. They would never give up their high draft picks for a single player, especially a player who has not proven himself.
Here are the recent transactions through the Eagles draft:
Since 2007 here are the Eagles top draft picks:
Brent Celek – Tight End
Jason Avant – Slot Receiver
Desean Jackson – Number 1 Receiver/Punt Returner
Jeremy Maclin – Number 2 Receiver
Lesean McCoy – Starting Back
This past draft:
Starting Center
Starting Tackle
The Eagles do not believe in using 1st round picks on receivers or running backs, or even tight ends.
Celek, Jackson, Avant, Maclin, McCoy all were later draft selections. Unlike the Falcons, they did not send their entire draft for an unproven player.
ANALYSIS:
The Eagles know how to draft because they have a legit GM & President.
That’s why Andy Reid has been in the playoffs 9 out of 13 seasons and has gone to 5 championship
games and a superbowl.
After this season, if the Falcons don’t win the superbowl, because they have no drafts next season, and Tony Gonzalez at the end of his career with no backup tight end with his caliber on the roster
the Falcons window will be shut tighter than Mrs. Charlies brain cells.
The free fall will start tonight.
Have a nice day

Can’t believe you really think that Falcons still have a “great chance” to win division. Falcons have beaten all these rookie QB’s, but they won’t see one tonight. If the Falcons pull the upset tonight, which I don’t think they will, we just might see Smith and Blank kiss this time around. The fact is, the Saints are NOT absolutely unbeatable. They can be beat. The Falcons and the Saints for the last 4 games always comes down to a field goal. Do you really believe we have no chance in beating you in the the Super Dome? We did last year. Its possible is all I’m, saying.

I have a gut feeling that Mike Smith has something special in mind for tonight. He (Mike Smith) knows that Sean Payton has his number. Sean Payton and Brees has dominated the Falcons in terms of wins and losses.
Mike Smith and the Falcons has a LOT of motivation to win this game. The pressure is squarely on the Saints to win tonight. It the Saints Lose tonight, it will cast doubt about them more so than the Falcons.
A Falcon victory tonight raises the stakes BIG TIME next week for the Saints.

Motivation for Falcons:
1.) Still a chance to win the Division and get a home playoff game.
2.) Still ticked off about the lost last time they played here on the 4th and 1 play.
3.) Erase doubt in their own minds about the Saints.
4.) Everyone Nationally think the Saints will win (and that Saints are the #1 threat to Green Bay)
5.) Mike Smith is irritated by Sean Payton dominance over him.
6.) Falcons chance to get that “signature victory” and get National respect.
7.) To a man, each of the Falcons players have a chance to prove to themselves they are a REAL contender in the NFC.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but what I want to know is why do you all keep responding to a fan whose team we not only beat in the regular season but who is out of the playoffs and, therefore, irrelevant?
What is more important at this stage is for the Falcons to play well tonight and next week. A win tonight would be great, of course, but more importantly we need to play well against one of the top teams in the NFL (not just NFC, in my view). And then, depending on tonight’s outcome, appropriately approach next week’s game at home versus Tampa Bay.
As Green Bay (and the Falcons) proved last year, everything resets to zero when the playoffs start so regular season smack talk is completely worthless.
LET’S GO FALCONS!

Agreed that we will all see exactly where the Atlanta Falcons stand after tonights games vs the Saints:
-the Falcons will be 9-6 after losing to the Saints, 33-17. Brees -350 yards and 4 TD passes…Ryan-220 yards passing with 2 TD passes and 2 INT’s
The good: the Falcons are already in the playoffs and, despite tonight’s loss, will likely beat Tampa Bay to finish 10-6
The bad: the Falcons will lose in the first round of the playoffs
The ugly: the Falcons retain both BVG and Mularkey as defensive and offensive coordinators, respectively
The ugly, part 2: the Falcons do little if anything in the off season to improve their pass rush or secondary which = the Falcons likely owned by the Saints in 2012 as well

Trademark, you just hit the nail on the head. Saints fans are nervous and the Vick fans even more so b/c once Ryan takes the next step in his progression they will have nothing to point to. Damn it must be tough to keep hanging onto 2004…that was 8 years ago. Vick is gone, killing another coach’s career and the Falcons are in the playoffs for the second year in a row.

Saints are a one-man show…they better pray to whatever voodoo dolls they got stuffed up their collective a$%es that nothing happens to Brees, or the Falcons figure out how to pressure him. Look at the Colts if you want to see your future New Orleans….

He teases them with a little thigh or boob and they just know the best part is about to be revealed
yet, every year they can only fantasize about what players like Joe Flacco, Mark Sanchez & soon to be Matt Stafford will accomplish.
CHOKE can only realize that dream if he plays MADDEN

Ah yes, I knew MCR would throw out a Sanchez reference sooner or later. Check out this great analysis of Dirty Sanchez. Just like Flacco, which I posted the other day, he has been horrible in the playoffs and is not any good unless he has a good running game and a stellar defense. I could make the same argument for Joe Flaccid. Check out his stats in the playoffs…uh-glee. Ryan Leaf-esque.

,,and yeah, I said the Saints’ future is EXACTLY like Indianapolis today….
Both are QB driven teams that made some noise in the playoffs for a few years, won a championship, and little else after that. And as Peyton got taken out, just look what happens. You’re left with a team with a couple of talented players, but no field general. An iffy-at-best defense that leaks yardage and points, and suddenly, you’re left playing the “Suck for Luck” game.
That’s right Saints fans, get ready to start sucking worse than at any time in your franchise’s history…and that’s saying a LOT. Because there’s another way to get it started…pressure Brees right NOW, and the Saint’s go down like a Bourbon Street college girl.
Payback time.

trademark………We don’t know that Matt Ryan is any better than Chase Daniel. The only thing we know is that Ryan has played. As far as the future is concerned, the Falcons have 12 or 13 players 30 and over on the roster compared to only 6 or 7 for the Saints. Saints GM Loomis continues to outmanuever Falcons GM Dimitroff. Teams are in very similar salary cap shape, but Falcons have very little draft upcoming due to the Julio trade. Falcons better hope that trade doesn’t turn into a Herschel Walker or Ricky Williams trade. Saints have been replacing older stars with upcoming ones…..Graham for Shockey and Jenkins for Sharper for example. Falcons will soon have to do that with Turner, Gonzalez, Abraham etc. Saints future looks brighter to me!

Have a nice day
====
Oh boy, where do we start here. This post suffers first and foremost from a lack of internal logic and consistency. Right after the idiot poster says “here are the Eagles top draft picks” and proceeds to list 5 receivers/RB’s/TE’s, same idiot poster then says “The Eagles do not believe in using 1st round picks on receivers or running backs, or even tight ends. Celek, Jackson, Avant, Maclin, McCoy all were later draft selections.” LOL. Okay, first, you really can’t be a “top draft pick” and simultaneous a “later draft selection” unless each and every year you trade away all of your picks and only have a selection in the 5th or 6th round. Secondly, let’s look at the specific players mentioned:
Celek:he was a late pick in 2007, 5th round, although their first pick that year was Kolb
Jackson: SECOND Eagle selected in 2008 (by only 2 picks), 49th overall, SECOND ROUND
Maclin: FIRST Eagle selected in 2009, 19th overall, FIRST ROUND.
McCoy: SECOND Eagle selected in 2009, 53rd overall, SECOND ROUND
So, the brilliant Andy Reid and company loaded up on “skill position” offensive guys with their early picks in the early rounds in the 2007-2009 period…and along with the doggggg killah they now form the core of the dream team. Go read any articles or fan input on how the Eagles have so carefully and artfully assembled this team. It is a joke. They have ignored critical non-glamorous positions, like linebacker, and it has come back to haunt them.
MCR owned again. Story getting really old, rancid actually.

“CHOKE” – Every since Coach Mike Smith arrived, we have had a pretty good winning team, maybe not the best but a pretty good team. Alot of cities would like to have had our results the last several years. Why do you like to always bash them? They have made a great number of strides forward in the last several years! It is alot of fun to be in the PLAYOFFS, no matter what happens next! You remind me of someone who won the lottery and would still not be happy! I really wonder why? I ask you CHOKE, are you VICK SUPPORTER from past blogs, that might explain it? I hope we are competitive tonite but the Saints are very good(like Green Bay) and it might not happen, but man, we are in the playoff tournament and that is a fun thing!!

Hey Choke, your brilliant dissertation has made me realizes that the Eagles are much closer to contending than the pretenders going into NO tonight by a mile….Wow…..
_____________________________________________
The CHOKE Lickers hate for Vick is a major blind spot for the big picture. The Eagles unlike the Falcants was not a “sell the house” approach. That’s not the way Philly conducts their business. They do not invest in one player like the Falcants did with CHOKE.
McNabb had seasons that CHOKE can only dream of and the Eagles never sacrificed their future for him or Kolb. They always look down the road. They didn’t realistically think this year would be the result of those high free agent signings. 2012 and beyond is their goal. It was the experts who put all those expectations out there. That is why Andy Reid’s future was never in danger.
Instead, the Eagles drafted well in 2011 with a starting Center & Tackle, without throwing away draft picks like the Falcants did with Julio Jones. The Eagles got both Jackson & Maclin in the 2nd round with no picks lost. Now Jackson & Maclin are a duel threat that drives defensive coordinators crazy.
The Eagle team that you have seen the past 3 weeks is the Eagles team that you will see in 2012 and beyond. Last season and this season were rebuilding years, drafting strong and picking up key free agents. However, an Eagles team in a rebuilding year still is relevent.
That’s how smart the Eagles brass is. They don’t care about image, they care about winning. If CHOKE was on the Eagles roster, he would be a 4th string clip board holder. Ask Kolb how that worked out replacing McNabb. When Andy Reid saw Vick released by the Falcons in 2009, he couldn’t wait to jump on signing him, because Andy Reid knew that the Falcants were clueless in developing talent.
Only the Falcants would pay a guy that played 5 years of college ball with 22 PICKS as a 5th year senior, 72 million without even taking a snap. Blank is not happy with CHOKE he is stuck with CHOKE

I will say that Flacco and Ryan are basically the same, inconsistent. They have some shining moments and they have moments where they just completely screw up. Flacco has an arm he just doesn’t have any precision, Ryan has precision, he just doesn’t have an arm….Ryan’s arm isn’t strong enough.. he cant throw a ball more than 25 yards without something stupid happening or the ball deflating…. MY BEAUX DREW BREEZY with his sexy self has both…. by the way… I have DREW BREEZ thongs for christmas yes!!!!! I also got a drew breez centerfold on my wall WINNING!!!!!

Mr Charlie….a lil of what the Eagle fans are saying.
There’s a finer line between winning and losing than realized by the big shot cynics called reporters. They never reflect on season to season performance in their lambasting the regime and players of the current season. I don’t predict, too many factors, but despite all the bellyaching and NY Daily News-like derision, the Eagles can turn this around next year. 5 games were frittered away this year and almost recovered but for some last minute foul ups. If you keep reading the hidden agenda press corps you’d think we’re talking about the 1962 to 1978 Eagles. Writers think they have to be ultra negative to be popular, and maybe so, considering the angst of many city dwelling fans. Cheer up folks. A. It’s only football. B. Reid has lead the Eagles back from the few bad years they’ve under his helm.
