Weekend Predictions: LSU over Georgia, and BCS ducks

14

So let me see if I’ve got this straight.

If LSU beats Georgia, LSU and Alabama will play for the BCS title. Simple. Unless some anti-SEC sentiment leads voters to match LSU against Oklahoma State (and everyone suddenly gets amnesia about the Iowa State game).

But this doesn’t preclude the possibility that LSU may play Oklahoma State in the BCS game even if Georgia upsets LSU. Why? Because at least one SEC school will go, and Nick Saban getting snubbed is funnier, and if you dare put both LSU and Alabama in the BCS final when neither even won its conference, you’ll have red noses and exploding clown feet falling from the sky (thank you, Larry), and even the BCS has its limit when it comes to humiliation. I think.

So really, what Saturday’s SEC championship comes down to is this: Barring some complete, multi-touchdown, oh jeez, Curly-just-dropped-the-TNT-powder-in-the-pancake-batter-again-collapse by LSU against the Bulldogs in the Georgia Dome, the Tigers are really only playing for Alabama’s lifeline in the BCS.

What could possibly go wrong with the BCS in the kitchen.

What could possibly go wrong with the BCS in the kitchen.

Dude. Has anybody seen Isaiah Crowell’s bong?

OK. Flush. Simplify. It’s just a football game.

Cleansing breath. And, go . . .

Georgia has one advantage in this game: Aaron Murray. Expectations for the running game are low, unless Crowell suddenly emerges from bubble wrap this week and breaks from the field with Forrest Gump’s miracle legs.

LSU is equal to or better than Georgia everywhere else. The Tigers have won over ranked teams, won on the road, won in Tuscaloosa, won nine of their games by 46, 26, 28, 30, 31, 35, 33, 49 and 24. Also, they conquered Belarus and are moving into Poland.

Yes, I really believe the Dogs have a chance to win this game. They are playing that well and that confident. The problem is too many things need to happen. Something-to-zero in turnovers. Something big on special teams. Something bionic on the defensive front.

It’s too much. The 10-game winning streak ends here. LSU wins, but Georgia keeps it close. I’ll dance with 13½.

It’s OK for Georgia fans to be Daydream Believers. Yeah. I’m going there …

School Daze

Oklahoma at Okie State: The Cowboys’ plan: 1) Win; 2) Scream, light their hair on fire, hold their breath, pass out and repeat (until somebody puts them in the BCS title game). All of which ignores the fact that they never should have lost a conference game to 2-4 Iowa State. Shut up and enjoy the Fiesta Bowl. OSU cover 3.

VaTech vs. Clemson (ACC title): The ACC keeps hoping for Miami-Florida State title game. It keeps getting Virginia Tech vs. somebody else. Clemson is 1-3 since starting 8-0 and turning back into Clemson. Hokies cover 7.

Wisconsin vs. Mich. State (Big Ten title): Fans have been warned: DON’T look Urban Meyer in eye when he emerges for his pontiff wave from a luxury suite before kickoff. Nice year for the Big Ten’s first title game. Scandal at Ohio State. Slime at Penn State. Where’s next year’s game, Chernobyl? Badgers win, but take Sparty and 9½.

UCLA vs. Oregon (Pac-12 title): One of the teams in the inaugural Pac-12 championship (UCLA) already has fired its coach (Rick Neuheisel). Even Auburn never did that. If UCLA wins, everybody might want to duck when Neuheisel gets his hands on the trophy. Actually, no worries there: Ducks win, but take UCLA and 32.

Rick Neuheisel, at the trophy presentation

NFL Six Pack

(I drank one)

Falcons at Texans: A stat from pal Len Pasquarelli: Falcons coach Mike Smith is 8-0 against rookie quarterbacks. Next on the list: T.J. Yates. It’s a nice story for Pope High School, but it wasn’t the Texans’ first choice. In consecutive weeks, the Falcons miss Adrian Peterson and Matt Schaub. Did Smith sacrifice a chicken? Falcons cover 3.

Broncos at Vikings: Tim Tebow (5-1) has won more games than Philip Rivers, Michael Vick or Josh Freeman. But he’s completing 45 percent of his passes and ranks 37th in yardage. Ever read one of those stores when the guy living out of a shopping cart wins the lottery? Slight market correction: Vikings cover 1.

Here's Ndamukong Suh stomping a player, which is frowned upon in most cultures, and even the NFL.

Here's the felonious Lion, Ndamukong Suh, stomping a player, which is frowned upon in most cultures, and even the NFL.

Packers at Giants: A few days after his defense allowed seven touchdowns to New Orleans, Giants coach Tom Coughlin proclaimed: “It’s time for us to be bold, not to listen to what you all are saying.” Want to be bold? How ’bout you get in somebody’s way? Pack covers 7.

Lions at Saints: Ndamukong Suh has been sentenced to two games to life. Roger Goodell’s plan to make Suh the face of the league worked out as well as the fed’s plan for the Al Capone plush toy. Saints cover 9.

Colts at Patriots: The Colts are 0-11 and have been outscored by 177 points, give or take a major organ. But the line is 20 points. Sorry. That’s like sliding chips and onion dip across the table and telling me, “Don’t touch.” Pats win, but give me Indy and 20.

Toteboard

footballbetting“Depend on the rabbit’s foot if you will, but remember it didn’t work for the rabbit.” — R.E. Shay

Last week (kiss the ring …): 10-2 straight up, 9-3 against the line.

Overall (… and bow): 109-41 straight up; 87-61-2 against the line.

Important “Sack Schultz” update: This is the week the Hawaii trip will be decided. There’s a 10-way tie for first. I remain in contention for a high draft pick.

i think UGA will get crushed. This is the first game against a ranked team since their first two games they lost against ranked teams.

10-2 is a house of cards. they havent beaten ANYONE.

sidenote: If uga DOES beat LSU, shouldnt that mean Boise deserves a shot at the BCS championship?

also, i thought in 2006 when voters demanded Florida to play OSU instead of Michigan, who had a far better resume, it established that teams must “win their conference” and “dont deserve a second chance at a team they’ve already played”…

and now people are complaining about potential anti-SEC sentiment? child please.

completely irrelevant where teams were ranked. Okla St shouldnt get credit for beating a Tex A&M team that finished 6-6 just beacuse TAMU was #8 when the teams played. just like 6-6 Florida and 7-5 Auburn shouldnt count as quality W’s for UGA

We haven’t had a true SEC Championship game since 2009. Who knew the Eastern Division could sink so low and stay down for so long? Until Tennessee and Florida get their act together, this game will be a joke and the West Division Champ will be playing the East Division Chump while the second, third, etc. best teams in the SEC sit at home and watch.

This is the Corn Dawg Bowl©.

It means nothing. It’s merely a crowning ceremony for LSU.

Georgia has a chance, but only if “Help me, help me” Crowell plays at full strength, enabling Murray to utilize play-action passes and the O-line plays up to its capabilities.

If not, Murray will be like chum to sharks.

It’s that simple.

Scott,

Since your initial comment did not specify the content of your addendum to your comment, it was not clear. While I understand your point regarding where teams are ranked now, I do think context matters; so, to some extent where teams are ranked when you play them is important. In any case, if you’ve watched UGA this year, there is no reason to think that if the UGA team that played Auburn or GT shows up, they can upset LSU. If the team that played the remaining games shows up, LSU wins.

no No NO!!!

Georgia didn’t play for the National Championship in 2007 for the same reason they aren’t playing for it this year. They sucked. They lost too many games against weak opponents. The BCS has NEVER required a team to win a conference championship in order to play in the BCSCG. NEVER.

The only requirement is to be ranked #1 or #2 in the final BCS poll at the end of the regular season. The NCAA, the SEC and ESPN have no effect on the BCS polls. The computers and the voters determine the rankings.

If you guys want to win a National Championship, then stop whining and try winning all of your games for a change. Ain’t nobody ever gonna just give it to you simply because you whine the loudest.

I think this has the makings to be a classic. Each teams strength plays to the other teams strength. The pressure to win this game rest solely on LSU. As for Georgia, they’re playing with house money. Not supposed to be here, given little if any chance. This game will be full of big plays and great moments. It will come down to a long FG for someone. But if LSU thinks they are coming to the ATL for an easy day at the office, they better think again. Its gonna be fun. GO DAWGS

Your defense has given up more than 1,000 yards more than Alabama. How weak is your rushing defense…..just ask Vandy. Your running backs would not play this year at Alabama. U are about to learn the hard way how big the gap/talent/depth is between Alabama/Lsu and the fifth best team in the conference. Enjoy watching Alabama win yet another national championship in January while u Georgians sit at home eating clay.

Scott,

UGA’s conference schedule was not as difficult this year. No one disputes that. However, playing in the SEC is playing in the SEC–regardless of the teams you play, you can pretty well gauge how good a team is. UGA is a much better team then they were in the 1st weeks of the season.

Corn Dawg,

It could be a beatdown if UGA does not show up, but if the UGA that played AU and GT shows up, it will not be a beatdown. UGA, like Bama and LSU, has a very strong defense. LSU did nothing against Bama. I do not see the evidence to suggest they will somehow do much better against UGA. They will have to win it with special teams and defense–which they certainly could. However, save special teams foul ups by UGA (which are certainly possible), this game will be close.

kevin,

This ain’t Auburn or Tech you’re facing in the Dome. You really need to calm down before this game kicks off, or you’re going to have to be restrained when reality slaps you upside your little noggin.

I’m all for fans believing that their teams have a chance in any game. They do actually – any team can lose a single game, no matter how good they are. That said, when you start spouting off about how much better Georgia is than Arkansas or Alabama (two teams that Georgia has not played), you just come across as another delusional Georgia doofus.

Here are the facts: Georgia is the fifth best team in the SEC this year. UGA is lucky that they got into this game on an East/West Division technicality. They aren’t really in the same league as LSU, Alabama or even Arkansas. Any objective observer understands this. The BCS poll understands it well enough. That’s why UGA is ranked #14. It ain’t hate. It’s just simple reality.

Our defense will not embarrass us. The problem will be that our OL can not run block average teams ( see Tech) and are really average at pass blocking. Lot’s of “shoulder bumps” as the rushers breeze by. That’s what will cost us this game. What’s keeping us from being on the same plane as LSU and Bama is a fire breathing, turd eating mean SOB’s tearing heads off across the offensive line. It’s finesse football and that doesn’t stop a D like LSU.

The coach of SC said it. It’s not an excuse, it’s a fact. Bottom line is we never lost another game after SC and they lost 2, 1 of which to was a team we stomped. UGA lost to top 15 ranked teams–can’t say the same for SC.

What’s certain is that UGA is way better than GT (again)!

In SC’s defense, they lost their starting QB and one of the best RB’s in the country. How would UGA have fared without Murray or Crowell? Spurrier did a heckuva job this year considering the adversity they faced.

Don’t count us out. I think the Gators will be improved in 2012 and will be back in the hunt come 2013. Look to be having a top 5 recruiting class coming in with 2 solid RB’s. Need a few JUCO linemen to add some depth and we’ll be much improved. One of the youngest teams in the country this year. We’re losing a total of 9 seniors and only half of them really contributed.

Big Dawg

Listen Fellow Dawgs this is going to be a close game that comes down to breaks, turnovers and big plays. Both these teams have very good to great defenses and defenses win championships. For Georgia it comes down to our offensive line getting mean and nasty and taking control of the line of scrimmage. LSU plays a gambling and attacking style of defense that if your offensive line and backs gets good protection you will have opportunities to break big runs and big pass plays down the field. We happen to match up well with them because we are very good upfront on the d-line with our d-linemen tying up the other teams blockers allowing our big, fast and mobile linebackers to move around freely making plays with the safeties coming up as well.

To me there is this the wild card of whether the SEC has told the officials to cheat our Dawgs by calling everything against us while ignoring LSU. And don’t say it doesn’t happen because you are talking very big money here as if the Dawgs do win then there is the chance NO SEC team would go to the BCS National Championship and the loss of millions in revenue plus the prestige that has been built up by the SEC in winning the last 5 BCS National Championship games.

Oklahoma St. should play for the title against LSU if they can beat OU. Talk Iowa St. all you want, but Oklahoma St. has a tougher schedule than Bama. Ok St. would have beaten 5 current BCS top 25 teams to Bama’s 2. Sure Bama lost to LSU, and that makes it even worse. If Bama plays LSU and wins, do they play a tie breaker game the next week? Sorry, but they had their shot on their own home field and blew it. The biggest problem with this system is they keep finding ways to give the same teams a shot at the title over and over again. Its time to give someone else a try.

@ Kevin:

“UGA’s conference schedule was not as difficult this year. No one disputes that. However, playing in the SEC is playing in the SEC–regardless of the teams you play, you can pretty well gauge how good a team is.”

that is weak logic. There are 5 teams that are in the top 25: 2 great teams (duh), 1 we think is very good (Ark), one that’s flailing about (SC) and UGA. and UGA lost to one and didnt play the other 3. the only reason you can say “SEC is the SEC” this year is due to three teams you didnt have to play. so beating the terrible teams that Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, etc put out this year does not prove “how good a team is”, it only proves that you were a step better than them.

I didn’t object in 2007 when we got left out. I understood. Even if we beat LSU and we get THREE BCS teams, I’m gonna wonder how fair the system really is. We all know the SEC is the premiere conference but a league title in the Big 10, Big 12 has gotta count for something.

Two things:

1. If you go to the BCS website, it has the EXACT same layout as ESPN.com. Not sure what that means.

2. That SEC pride all of you have in talking about how dominant the conference is…you know what it comes from? It comes from destroying the best non-SEC team every year in the BCS title game. If you really want to showcase SEC dominance, you should be screaming at the top of your lungs about how the non-SEC champion should NOT be considered for the title game.

The powers that be (the BCS committe themselves) met less than a month ago and one of their proposals was managing the championship game only and eliminating the AQs. The next meeting is in January.

That scenario could benefit everyone except for the ACC and Big East and would protect a team such as Arkansas this year.

The only problem is that the BCS would still exist.

It’s almost as if they saw what was coming and decided to launch a pre-emptive strike to protect their own hides.

Again…just makes sense to Boise, Oklahoma State, Houston, Va. Tech….and all the one loss top teams…..and…of course…..absolutely no sense to all Bama fans.

If UGA plays like they did against Auburn, then they have as good a chance as anyone in the country (not named Bama) of beating LSU. Problem is, we’ve only seen that team once this year. Other than that, they’ve done just enough to win against some pretty weak competition.

Well I have just made sure UGA will win. I just finished a UGA football Helmet design Bird House. If this TECH fan did that it must mean UGA will win right? I am finishing up a HOUSE DIVIDED Bird House too. It has 2 helmets colliding and the person can order the teams on the helmets. I have a a friend with a website and I am trying to convince him to advertise my bird houses on one of his web pages. If he will let me I will post that info later and maybe some of you football fans might be interested in some of My designs.
I can say I am pulling for the Dawgs or against them. I just think from what I have seen LSU is just too Strong. The UGA running game is the key, but Bama couldn’t run on LSU. I fear UGA can’t either. If MURRAY is left to win it with his passing I don’t think UGA can win.

There were plenty of 4&5 star players recruited, but that doesn’t mean that there was the potential to build a team from those recruits. Next year might be a little tough as well, but he should get three years to determine his true worth.

Funny that UGA fans would chide you for his not being a success in his first year. They’ve kept CMR around for 11 years and have absolutely nothing to show for it – and they can’t decide whether they should give him another contract extension. How delusional can one fan-base be?

I logged onto tigerdroopings.com to see if there were any interesting topics going on and after looking at about 30 pages on several different blogs, I found that UGA was mentioned about 5 times and the general consensus is that OK State will blow out OK and jump Bama to play LSU in the NC game. The early line on that game in Vegas has LSU favored by 1.5 points. The Swamp People figure it is more like 14 – 35 pts.

There is one blog predicting the LSU/UGA score. The possum and nutria eaters predict that if UGA even shows up at all, then they will lose by 40 to 50 pts.

Why don’t you annoying trolls of other loser teams migrate over to http://www.tigerdroppings.com and join the festivities because your lame diatribe is not welcome here. Besides unless you’re a fan of Boise State or the SC Chickens, UGA beat your team this year and they are not playing in the SEC CG. Or if your Buckeye, UGA would destroy that pathetic team that you pledge allegince too.

Many of you remember the old Thanksgiving day UGA/GT freshman game which benefitted Scottish Rite. (I still miss this event!). The motto was “Strong legs will run so that weak legs may walk”

It has been brought back in a slightly different form, occurring each spring. This is a baseball doubleheader at Turner Field. The first game is always two Atlanta area high school teams (the first year, a kid from Lassiter hit a homerun, first high school player to do so at the Ted)
The second game is GT/UGA.
Profits from this event are earmarked to help pay for an intraoperative MRI machine at Scottish Rite. This machine allows neurosurgeons to use the MRI live in the operating room during surgery. It makes the surgery more precise and minimizes the need for additional surgeries. It saves lives. Support this event if you can.

No Scott You have to look at the total body of work most teams Boise played were middle school team equivalents even much worse than the Mississippi’s in the SEC.. Georgia got much better after that loss even though not as good as the top of the SEC west. I wish Boise and Huston would quit crying every year its not fair…. If they want to be treated like a BCS team they need to get into a BIG BOY conference and prove their selves week in and week out like everyone else. Otherwise the best team in all of the BCS conferences should quit them and go to a really weak one and they could have a perfect season virtually every year…

On your comment though about the game…..
I think our D can keep us in the game for a period of time.
LSU front four is very strong they can get pressure with out blitzing witch let’s their secondary play great coverage witch leads to turnovers or coverage sacks. The key in my opinion is the OLine,
We do not have a lot of depth but are big up front. If they can open holes to get the running game going ( but not up the middle need to try to get to the corner) and screen passes keep the clock rolling we can hang in their.
Were LSU is so dangerous they can score on off, deff and special teams and at any time can’t let them do to us like they did auburn and score 3 TDs in less than 3 min.

Georgia is going to play a good game against LSU, I just believe UGA may be a few players short to keep up with LSU for the entire game. This is not to disparage UGA, congratulations on making it to the title game, you earned it on the field. LSU is just too deep and talented.

Now, I am a Alabama graduate, a Alabama fan first, SEC Fan Second. I do not hide those facts. I always pull and want every SEC team in every sport to beat every other conference team no matter who is playing. To the fans of the SEC or any other school who wants to argue the point that Alabama should not be in the BCS title game. That is your right and opinion to think so. Here is my biased counter argument.

If you put anyone else in the title game( OSU, Houston, VT) and LSU blows them out, how many folks will be sitting there in the fourth quarter watching?

If Alabama plays a Houston team in the Sugar Bowl and holds them to less than 20 and wins by 20 or so the fans will say the same thing that was said about UGA and Hawaii( they were supposed to win, what a sham of a team in a weak conference taking the place of a deserving team from a major conference..etc),

The facts are that the LSU and Bama game in November drew big numbers and held big numbers through the entire game which is what the BCS/advertisers, and television folks want more than anything else in a title game.

The best two teams are in the SEC this year. That is my opinion and I can live with any outcome this Sunday evening when the selections are announced.

Good Luck to all of your teams and hoping for a great game this saturday afternoon.

UGA defense- Whatever, most of the points that SC scored on UGA weren;’t on the defense…it was bc of turnovers & special teams. They lost a lot of players in the off season, & it was only the 1st 2 games of the 2nd season of the 3-4 defense against 2 tough opponents right out the shoot. I know the rest of the schedule wasn’t that though, but that is a tough couple of games to have to open w/ for a team in that situation…especially when it’s a team that typically starts slow. I’m not trying to make excuses, but I really think they would do better against those teams now. The SC game was close, & they very well could’ve pulled it out anyway, & they’ve been playing even better since then as well.

Urban Meyer is no longer the coach at Florida. 9. Isaiah will be back 10. I will be wearing my undefeated v-neck. We will be SEC champions.

They say that UGA’s D will hold them close as they are a great run defense team. So, it seems that they say this will be the toughest game that LSU has played this season, then….

Georgia beats Ole Miss and Miss State, each by 2 TDs. They beat the Vols by only 8. They had to claim Vandy cheated to only get beat by 5. Florida played a one-ankled quarterback and only lost by 4. Kentucky only lost by 9.

Poor ole number 2 (SEC West) Alabama barely beat Miss State (24-7), but crushed Vandy (34-0) and Ole Miss (52-7). It walloped Tennessee 37-6 and Florida had its quarterback become one-ankled losing to the Tide 38-10. Only Auburn rolled over and played dead to both Alabama and UGA. The lost to Les-U for some inexplicable reason (in OT) 9-6.

LSU is a carbon copy of Alabama for those common opponents in the almighty SEC, beating them all soundly. For Georgia to play the schedule it played and NOT be 11-1 (they should have beat USC), the SEC would have had to cancel the conference title game and jus give the title to LSU, simply to not endanger the lives of the students playing football in the SEC East. For Georgia to be a legitimate foe for LSU, they would have beaten the teams they should have beaten worse than they did. Only a league mandate, “Don’t make Georgia look bad,” will keep them from not losing this game Saturday by 20 points, if not 30.

So what if they beat Georgia. But good lord imagine the skyscraper jumpers if they lose. Here is the true BCS nightmare scenario:

1 – Georgia upsets LSU

2 – Sooners over OSU

3 – Alabama sits at home because voters will not (ever again) put a team in title game that cannot win their own conference…This happened in the 2001 and 2003 seasons. In 2001 Nebraska played Miami (Florida), after a blowout loss to Colorado in the Cornhuskers’ final regular-season game and, therefore, did not play in the Big 12 Conference Championship game. In 2003 Oklahoma played LSU despite losing to Kansas State 35–7 in the Big 12 Conference title game. This entails that a team that could not even win their conference title is awarded the title of best team in the nation, despite the obvious presence of a better squad within their own conference.

4 – BCS “Natl Championship Game”: Stanford vs Boise State

That may draw 15 or 20 viewers nation-wide.

Bottom line is the BCS committee doesn’t care one whit because the golden geese of bowls are still going to lay those golden eggs for a very select few.

Your biggest nightmare

You know they can bash Georgia’s weak schedule and its 10 wins in a row. In the SEC no matter whats the record, any team can beat any team. That has been proven over and over again.
Should LSU win? Yes they should.
Can Georgia beat LSU? Most definitely.
Im not gonna get down on Georgia if they lose to a No.#1 team. What i will say is that if they do stupid things and seem to play half heartedly then i’ll speak up.
Not any of us here can say assuredly that LSU is gonna walk over Georgia saturday. I just wanna see Georgia come to play, get the upset and shut up the doubters about a weak schedule.
Hey im not sure that Georgia is that good! I do know theyre not a Div.2 school thats gonna lose by 48 pts.
LSU is an awesome team no doubt. I bet Georgia will come out an give them all the respect they deserve on saturday.
Georgia is a dangerous team right now to anyone. If LSU looks past Georgia on saturday then there could be a shocker. I’ll be happy and excited but that doesnt mean that i think LSU was overrated.

December 2nd, 2011
7:40 am

[...] By Jeff Schultz, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution So let me see if I’ve got this straight. As a dawg fan, I am going to sit back and be realistic. I am expecting the first half to be tight and then LSU pull away around the start of the 4th qtr. Pretty much do what they have done to everybody this year. yes the East was very weak this year. The ol’ notion of any team in the SEC can beat the other on a given Saturday is a cliche’ and there is not a conference that could not say the same. Our opponents record was like 38-50. Thats weak. Yes schedule 1 dog team.. you need a break. But come on, lets start scheduling a strong team. I am SURE if we had an Fla State, OK State or something like that on our schedule and Won then we would probably be in the mix. Had we beaten either Boise or SC, we would be up there with Va Tech in the rankings. This stuff of Saben of what he said back in 2003,, come on people,, have you NEVER changed your opinion on an issue in the last 8 years? And this mess where if you don’t win your conference you don’t deserve the BCS Championship game.. I am sorry, I would rather see the 2 BEST teams in this case LSU-Bama instead of a Va Tech vs the winner of the Big Least as an example.. or LSU vs a much weaker opponent.

RMikel58

Georgia does deserve to be in the SEC Championship game. Period.
We have beaten LSU before, they have beat us. We beat them bad and they likewise. I’m not sure which Georgia team will show up on saturday because theyve been a jekly and hyde team all year.
No one has excuses if they lose. They just lose.
Not gonna cry if Georgia loses. They won the SEC East, have a 10-2 record and can only get better coming into next year.
You and i know these 2 teams are equally matched with Georgia getting the edge at QB. My worries are Special teams and the kicking game.
Some of you LSU fans sound like children out there making comments that highschoolers say. Lets play the game and see what happens.
Rah Rah comments are for cheerleaders and not adults. I will compliment either team after saturday and wish either the best because its just a game, but a fun game without making things personal on here.

@Ray concerning the “cliche” of anyone can beat anybody. Thats shallow talk my friend. All year long there has been upsets and major ones at that. LSU isnt pervious to being upset. If you think that then just put on your DVR and go do something else saturday.
I mean if you know the outcome then why even watch. I can just imagine that every LSU has been out there telling everyone how bad LSU is gonna beat Georgia and thats the sorta thinking that causes you to lose a game.
I really hope that all week thats all the players at LSU has been hearing of a “no contest” “blowout”"Georgia’s easy schedule” and soforth.
So what will you have to say after LSU loses to Georgia saturday? I mean their so puney and weak and hasnt played anyone. Are you gonna then say LSU had a bad game, or the refs gave it to Georgia, or that LSU was fatigued?
It can go and on with excuses. If Georgia loses so what! But it wont be by a thrashing. 52-0 give me a break.
LSU cannot win without turn overs fact. They have to have big plays on special teams or turnovers. If Georgia gets the edge in turnovers they will win. If Georgia’s special teams gets together and plays together then that takes away the advantage LSU has.
Everything at this point is hypothetical without the first snap being played. Some of the people here think they know football better than anyone and i cant understand why those people arent coaches in the NFL.

Most of the rhetoric is coming from other fans that arent georgia fans. I see alot of comments giving respect toward LSU but not hardly any from the LSU fans.,
We see that kind of arrogance everyday in the White House. You have to have some type of luck during the season to go undefeated. Will it continue or the laws of average fall upon LSU on saturday?
Maybe not for LSU but for Georgia this is the National Championship game. Im excited and elated to have the honor of watching Georgia playing the best team in America.
I think Georgia actually matches up better with LSU than Alabama and Arkansas. Both are very similar in Offense and Defense.
I think it’ll will end up Georgia upsetting LSU 27-13. Alabama playing Oklahoma St. in the BCS. I’ll tell you this though…………… there will be more fans rooting for Georgia than LSU. Just ask the Alabama, and Arkansas fans.

Well got to go to work so that i can support all those government entitlement recipients. Georgia players if youre reading these blogs………………….you can beat this team LSU. Not that LSU is that bad but that Georgia can be that much better than people think.
This is not the best LSU that they ever had and not the worst Georgia team we’ve ever had. Arrogance and stupidity will be brought to the game at the dome on saturday and you can take advantage of their shortcomings by simply beating LSU.
Dont have to be the best game you ever played, no miracles need to happen……..just know that youre just as good as they are and are very capable of beating them.
If we were to play Boise State and S. Carolina today then i know it would be a different turnout. Let LSU have their fun and run their mouths and cast dispersion upon Georgia and in the end we’ll not see too many Ga. Tech, Florida, Auburn and especially LSU fans come here on sunday ranting and raving about why they lost to Georgia Saturday.

Here’s what I don’t get:

1. Why is anyone angry that LSU is favored in this game when they have played a much tougher schedule than Georgia and are undefeated, while Georgia is 10-2?

2. Why are Georgia fans angry at the football programs who will be playing for the National Championship, when Georgia could easily have been in their position, had they simply won all of their games? It is not a corrupt system or grand conspiracy that keeps Georgia out of the BCSCG – only Georgia’s losses are to blame for that.

3. Why should anyone think that the LSU players and coaches don’t understand the poor quality of football that has been played this season by the 10 teams that Georgia has just beaten? Anyone who watches college football understand this, and no amount of denial on the part of Georgia fans can change that. LSU owes Georgia no respect. Respect has to be earned on the field of play.

Georgia has a shot at pulling off the Upset of the Century© tomorrow. Just man up and admit that and enjoy it if it happens. If it doesn’t, then congratulate the winner and get ready to play the next game. It’s only football people… It’s only football.

Rmike,,, no one can deny that the sec east is weak. We have two good teams sc and ga. That is it. everyone else in the east is weak. no doubt we have the edge on qb over lsu. as fate would have it, lsu has beaten 3 top 3 ranked teams this yr. I hate to say it but that is pretty impressive. I so am hoping for a win but if an upset doesnt happen, I think the bowl game that ga plays in will be the best test for us to see how good ga really is. Playing a team that is pretty equal.,, we win the bowl game then we are for real. We lose in the bowl game then its been a window dressing year. Hey 10 wins in a row is nice. Lets make it another one this weekend but not counting on it. And on your comment.. i think we would wipe the field with boise,, SC.. not so sure. I think it would be a pretty tight game.

What is true is that while South Carolina beat Georgia in Athens this year and thus won the battle, Georgia won the Eastern Division war by having fewer SEC losses. So Georgia deserves the opportunity in Atlanta. What is not true is that Georgia gave the game to the Gamecocks. When Clowney threw Murray down like a rag doll and Ingram ran in the fumble it was great defensive work. I don’t think Geogia’s QB gave it to Carolina. South Carolina’s strategy this year was great defense. Look at all the close games the Gamecocks participated in. Also if I was a Georgia fan I wouldn’t say to much about losing to South Carolina two years in a row, especially since Georgia has the best QB in the SEC and SC had a QB with a drinking problem. Good luck Dawgs in the SEC championship.

I have it UGA 45, LSU 7.

Why?
1. Richt better win % than Miles–coaching = UGA
2. UGA better recruits than LSU, talent = UGA
3. Defense against common opponents = UGA
4. Crowell got 80 yards vs. Auburn, look for him to go off
5. W Vir got 550 yards on LSU and scored 28, UGA is better
6. Butler & Walsh are better
7. Murray is better at QB than anyone they have
8. Receivers are better
9. pass defense is better
10. 3rd down defense is better

I see LSU like Auburn, and UGA beat Auburn 42-7.

It never ceases to amaze me the people that live vicariously through other teams. As soon as UGA put a win streak together, it was wait until Florida. Then it was Auburn will whip you. Then it was GT can’t be stopped. Then it was a weak schedule and an over-inflated defense. Now it is all of these teams’ fans waiting for LSU to beat down the dogs so that they can finally say “I told you so”. It is actually pretty sad.

If you people could just accept it for what it is, you would all be much happier. If LSU wins big, then you can finally point out you were right even though you weren’t for Florida, AU, or GT. If LSU wins by a slight margin, you can say they were saving their players and could have beat us by 50. You world will be complete.

Now, if UGA wins, you can spout off some drivel that LSU knew they were in the big game and didn’t want to risk players, or the officials gave it to the Dawgs, etc. Or, you can say, good game UGA. It isn’t as if UGA is going to the National Championship game. Their schedule doesn’t warrant it nor does two losses. If anything, you should be pulling for the Dawgs as it could be the biggest slap (in a row of many slaps) to the BCS. Just think of the howling and all the hurt fans out there if it is LSU vs. Bama again with no conference champion and one non-division champion. It will be total chaos. Stranger things have happened in the form of Bama/Utah, Boise/Oklahoma, WV/Pitt years ago, Okla/TT this year, Iowa St/Okie St this year. Granted, I don’t foresee UGA winning this game, but I do see it closer than the experts.

If you could simply take away your hate, you should realize that you trolls win either way. LSU wins, you get to finally say “I told you so”. If they lose, you get chaos. Enjoy the ride and loosen up a little.

The Dawgs have a shot at The SECC and here’s why; regardless of the quality of the teams this season, UGA beat UF, UT and Auburn convincingly. The Dawgs last game showed them dominating GT in every phase of play.

LSU is strong but very vulnerable. Bama GAVE LSU the win. How many missed field goals? Was it 4 or 5? I lost count after awhile. If that game were played again Bama would win by 10 in my opinion.

So LSU has everything to lose and nothing to win. The Dawgs have nothing to lose and lots to win. The pressue is clearly on LSU and the more the fans brag the more overconfident LSU players become.

Despite Vegas odds (last I looked) being 10 or 11 points I’m going with my Dawgs in the upset of the year.

Bama in Atlanta

December 2nd, 2011
9:31 am

This is in response to the implied question permeating the blogs of why even play the game if LSU is so highly favored.

Just a couple of games into the regular season in 1986 an average, unranked team from Miami (the one in Ohio, not Florida) made the trip down to Baton Rouge to play the #8 LSU tigers. This was supposed to be an easy win and tune-up game for LSU before they started their SEC play. The problem was, somebody forgot to tell Miami they had no chance because five fumbles, two intercepted passes and a blocked punt later the average, unranked team from Ohio walked off the field with a 21-12 upset of the mighty LSU tigers.

If we take all the college football games that have ever been played where one team has been favored to win over another then the majority of the time the favored team won. But it’s that minority set of games where the underdog has triumphed that makes you realize…..that’s why they play the game.

Silly Bloggers

Ha! Once again, an excellent example of a troll twisting the truth. First off, I never said Florida, Auburn, or GT were big wins or even quality wins. I simply stated that they were wins where trolls as yourself predicted disaster for UGA and they didn’t take place. Also, I don’t see anywhere where I stated we would ruin any team’s season. If LSU loses, popular opinion is that they go to the NC anyway, so again, you are making great leaps in logic…or lack of it.

I will admit that UGA beating LSU does cause a great deal of bad publicity for college football and the BCS if LSU were to play Bama again in that scenario. That is something that all conferences would be in agreement and ultimately very good for college football moving one stop closer to a playoff type system.

But continue to read and interpret things the way you need to in order to give your life meaning. You are the type that likes people losing their jobs, husbands and wives getting cheated on, people that lose their children to diseases etc. In other words, whatever causes others grief and loss in order to make your life seem less bitter and droll in comparison.

LSU 38, UGA 13.

Alabama has no business in the BCS championship, as a non-conference winner. They are not even a division winner. If LSU beats UGA, they go, and should play against the next best conference champion. If LSU loses to UGA, then two non-SEC conference champions should play.

Why does the BCS match up non-champions? Ridiculous.

DC, agreed…and most of us know the difference. There is a world of difference between the poster that states LSU has dominated most of their opponents, beat three Top 5 teams, and has a light-out defense led by the Honey Badger vs. the poster who says UGA sucks, they don’t play anyone, their schedule sucks, they don’t deserve to be in the Title game, and basically rely on LSU to bring some semblence of order to their lives since none of their teams could.

Personally, I picked LSU vs. USC in the SECCG and LSU winning it all. I am happy that UGA is in the game and I was mistaken about it. I think LSU is the best team in the nation and UGA will need to play nearly a perfect game to win. I also believe Alabama’s D is better than the Dawgs, but do believe the Dawgs have a more balanced offense than Alabama, albeit sporadic at times depending on Murray’s touch or lack of it on the football.

But hey, I am a UGA grad so there is that small part of me that can see the Dawgs winning this game. My heart tells me maybe, my head tells me unlikely at best…but I have seen stranger things happen and this is not the same UGA team we saw in Week 1.

I made my prediction earlier that Georgia would crush LSU on saturday 56-0. I should have said that I wish that that could happen and I hope after the victory, Georgia moves up 12 places and into the #1 slot–to play for the BCS National Championship. That is what I want to happen for Georgia because I think Mark Richt is one of the greatest coaches ever in college football. I’m not sure it will happen but I can at least dream on for a miracle.

UGA was playing Auburn with one hand tied behind it’s back in the second half, and did not throw any passes at all in the 3rd and 4th. Still ran the ball down Auburn’s throat. ALA was only up 27-? in the third, and Auburn was still getting first downs in the forth quarter. Judging from this common opponent ALA is not that far ahead of UGA. And ALA and LSU appeared to be evenly matched? We’ll see.

Fathead, I am a UGA grad and fan and I give no credibility to common opponent…or not much at least. The gameplan for UGA for AU and Bama vs. AU is completely different. The game also dicatates how it goes. Take this a step further and our game was a home game and Bama played AU in Auburn in a rivalry game.

I do agree that UGA matches up better against Bama than LSU due to a more balanced offense, but I still defer to both those teams as better until UGA takes them out head-to-head. I would say I am cautiously optimistic on the Dawgs’ progress, but as has been pointed out repeatedly, we have yet to beat a very good football team. LSU will be a very good measuring stick on how far we have come.

Why are so many other UGA fans content with “running this state”?! The only other “competition we have is Tech. If you’re a school in Florida or California, or even Texas to an extent, running your state is an accomplishment. Not in Georgia.

You guys can be content in being governors all you want, I want to be president and “run this nation”.

Unfortunately, 10-2 will never accomplish that goal. Until the UGA fanbase ceases to be content with state championships and the occasional SEC title, we’ll never reach that next level.

The incessant chest thumping about the uga defense is bogus. South Carolina hangs 45 on the dawgs. only East Carolina and Kentucky, two bastions of defense, gave up more points. Boise puts up 35 this year, putting the pups in good company with those perennial defensive powerhouses – Nevada, Air Focce and Wyoming that were also on the Boise schedule.

Question for all as I read the blog boards – how about vice posting behind anoymous names – y’all find a way to talk like normal human beings? Love to see folks spit unabashed virulence to a grown man’s face vice across a message board using the safety of the internet. At least reporters and guys on TV are speaking as an identified name and face. What I read here, and I mean the hurling of insults vice discussion, smacks of raw cowardace. (and I do ack. that I am being hypocritical – but I am in a sensitive postion and can’t put work details on here)
BTW – as a UGA fan 1) stop using 2007 as an arguement. UGA lost 2 games not one, so 2007 vice 2011 is apples and oranges.
2) For all the hate and discontent Tech has, they were outmatched, so to not realize that saying UGA stinks is just making y’all look like ignorant children. You’re not good in football. Paul Johnson isn’t the great guy you tout him to be (as a formal Navy football player/starter under him, I know) Accept it and move on.
3) LSU and Bama played a much tougher schedule this year, so to marginalize them is also idiotic. However, UGA does have a chance, and for LSU fans to not know or acknowledge that is equally stupid. UGA wins close, or gets totally blown out. I do not see one ounce of middle ground on that one.

Neverquit, the Dawgs D gave up 17 to SC. The rest were Special Teams gaffes and turnovers by the offense, specifically Murray. Like most trolls, you take a look at the final score and just create whatever you want out of it. You can say S.C. was opportunistic in making the most out of bad plays by Murray and special teams, but to say the defense gave up 45 is just another example of a troll who didn’t actually watch the game but wants to make blanket statements to support thier virtriol.

look for uga to give him his release at the end of the season. in his mind, he is much to big a star to play a team sport. his attitude is not good, his work ethic is MIA. his teammates find him to be a negative influence. no one questions his talent. he is extremely immature and all about him. he will do well in his next school.

Ok I agree with most of your bloggers, but my prediction stands and should happen for coach Mark Richt in a three step formula:
STEP 1: Georgia beats LSU 56-0.
STEP 2: Georgia moves all the way up to the #1 spot in the nation.
STEP 3: Georgia plays on January 2, 2012 for the national championship.
IT MIGHT TAKE A MIRACLE BUT I HAVE SEEN STRANGER THINGS HAPPEN.

A few years ago LSU was ranked #7, while Georgia was ranked #4 in the nation. The #1 and #2 teams both lost, and LSU moved all the way from 7 and into the national championship game. LSU won the national championship. THE SAME THING MAY HAPPEN TO GEORGIA THIS YEAR. I will pray for the impossible.

I stand corrected. The year that gerogia got shafted from playing in the title game, while LSU was ranted #7 (four positions behind Georgia), Georgia was ranked #3 in the nation. Both the #1 and #2 teams both lost the next weekend and GEORGIA SHOULD HAVE PLAYED FOR A NATIONAL TITLE BUT INSTEAD GOT ROBBED BY LSU. LSU slid all the way back from #7 (moved past Georgia) and somehow, miraculously made it to the national championship game. GEORGIA GOT SHANGHI’D AND ROBBED THAT YEAR.

Being new to the state, I can only sit back and laugh at the exchanges back and forth between GT and UGA fans. I personally could care less, but have made this observation while living inside the boarders of Georgia: UGA fans are some of the loudest, most obnoxious rednecks to be found in the entire USA. I would have to guess that most of the fans, who have no tie to the university in any shape or form, might have an average 5th grade education. The Tech fans, always classified as being nerdy, seem to stay fairly quiet most of the time while their team just doesn’t have the athletes to compete with UGA, nor do they have as many players in trouble with the law that UGA has had.
Looking at the seasons for both teams, I would say Tech had a slightly better than mediocre year in that they lost to some teams they should have beat and lost again to UGA. I would think the coach better have a good year next year and find a way to win against UGA or he will be looking for a job.
UGA had a better year, partially helped by their relatively easy schedule. Vandy, Kentucky, Tennessee, New Mexico State and even Florida did little to incite fear in anyone this season. As far as the SEC Cahmpionship game goes, I think UGA stays close in the first half, but LSU pulls away in the second half and covers the spread. RIcht keeps his job for several more years and all the loud, obnoxious red nexk fans keep on keepin’ on!

That’s why the game is played. Let’s see what happens tomorrow. IF UGA wins, expect a Top 7 ranking, a trip to the Sugar Bowl and all the talk of a weak schedule go by the way side. Then let’s sit back and watch two 1 loss teams without a conference title play for the BCS Championship. What will be wrong with that picture?

JMac2011

@Justin, nobody cares that the pups have won 3 of the last 4 played between the two teams. The bottom line is that LSU has the better offense, the better defense, the better special teams, the better coaching, and the better chance to win tomorrow. A close game will be 31-13. If the pups cannot run the ball with any consistency, it might be something like 45-10. Murray has not seen any defense in 2 seasons even close to what he will see tomorrow, while LSU has faced and beaten someone with a much better defense that the bullpups. LSU wins the game and the all important TO battle 4-1(2pics&2fumbles). LSU gets at least 17 points off TO, and all puppy dog fans will scream that in defeat we were still the better team, just like we were better than S. Carolina. Turnovers beat us. The sad truth actually is that LSU and S. Carolina are better teams, because they will have more points at the end of the game than your puppydogs, and it will mark another year that the scenery has not changed. You are still looking up to other teams.

If Georgia beats LSU tomorrow say 56-0, it will be the GREATEST WIN OF MARK RICHTS CAREER, other than the win against Florida this year. Tomorrows game against the tigers IS GEORGIAS SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. IF Georgia wins at least they can say they are the champions of the SEC. That would be one heck of an accomplishment after starting the year 0-2. Again, had Georgia started 2-0 instead, then won the next 10 games in a row and had a perfect season—it would have been like 1980 all over again when Vince Dooley and Hershel Walker won a national title. For the record, tomorrows game will DEFINE MARK RICHTS COACHING GENIOUS AND WILL DEFINE HIS LEGACY and how he will be remembered as a head coach.

The Tigers have won all 12 games this season by a combined score of 458-127
“If we want to make it to the national championship, we first have to win the West and then the SEC,” said LSU sophomore safety Eric Reid. “We got step one done, and now we’re looking forward to step two.”

The Tigers’ driving force this season, however, has been a stifling defense that ranks in the top six in five major categories including No. 2 in both total defense (248.42 yards-per-game) and scoring defense (10.58 points-per-game).

LSU has also held opponents without a touchdown in 38 of the 48 quarters played.

Mathieu is also part of a backfield that has scored as many touchdowns as passing touchdowns allowed. Mathieu has scored on two fumbles and a punt return, senior cornerback Ron Brooks scored on two interceptions, and junior cornerback Morris Claiborne returned a kickoff.

And your point is???? LSU won 47-21, alot of those yards came in the 2nd half because LSU had a hug lead almost the whole way. WVU made it close in the in the 3rd then LSU re-established its dominance.

I will take giving up 500 yds of offense in a 26 pt blowout win all day long. FYI 463 of those yds came in the air. That should tell you 2 things… #1 WVU was behind the entire game, and #2 they couldn’t run the ball

Um… try again… LSU was up on WVU 27-7 at halftime. Only thing that made that game close was Rueben Randle dropped a wide open TD pass that would have put LSU up 34-7 and turn the lights out. They missed a fg and gave WVU life, but Claiborne’s kick return did sway the momentum back LSU’s way, but they led wire to wire and were never really threatened in that game.

The Turd Pickler: I realize you are hating on GA, and dont have much faith in them–but the way ga is playing right now–its incredible. Its absolutely incredible. I dont know what you are watching when you see the bulldogs play, but right now the bulldogs have the finest passing attack in the nation. Whats more, if the Bulldogs make the game a shootout and get way out in front, LSU may have trouble catching up and making it a ballgame. Remember when Ga played new mexico state a couple of weeks ago and georgia was hittin on all eight cylinders; the bulldogs had a 49-3 lead at halftime and cruised to a 63-16 win without ever being challenged. RIGHT NOW THE BULLDOGS ARE PLAYING LIKE A TOP 5 TEAM IN THE NATION. That is what I am watching and I dont know what anyone else is seeing. Again my prediction stands. I am expecting the Bulldogs to crush LSU 56-0. I STAND BY THAT PREDICTION BECAUSE YOU ARE GETTING A TEAM BEING COACHED AT MARK RICHTS BEST COACHING RIGHT NOW. Absolutely!! What better way to make an impact statement than by beating the top #1 team in the country 56-0. THAT WOULD BE ABSOLUTELY AWESOME and it would be indeed Mark Richt’s finest hour of coaching.

The assertion that anybody would or wouldn’t start for another team is speculation at best and is totally unprovable one way or another. The only thing that is provable is that Alabama won’t be in the SEC championship because they lost at home to LSU. But again that’s the type of logic you get from an awabama public education and when 15 dollars and a trip to WalMart and you too can be a cross eyed drooling bamer. I see that you are reading the AJC because there isn’t a single legitimate paper in George Wallace’s state. That or the mule turning the turet is down and the power’s out again in bamerham.

Georgia’s starting 11 were all 4 & 5 star athletes in high school, and EVERY SINGLE one of them was offered by the Tuscaloosa Community College, and only one wasn’t offered by LSU. Georgia consistently recruits as well as Awabama & LSU. LSU may win, they should win, but you are clueless if you think the talent gap is that wide. Coaching & Preperation…….that’s another story.

Further, I can’t watch Alabama win a National Championship because they don’t exist in Division 1A college football and they never have. You can top somebody’s straw poll, or win a pageant, but the NCAA neither awards nor recognizes National Champions in FBS football.

Alabama has never won a “National Championship”. Not even from the “drycleaner in Tuscaloosa” where the Bahr took his shirts to get the Early Times stains out.

To GODAWGS75, you were probably still at UGA/Tech game and missed much of the Iron Bowl, but Auburn’s 2 TD’s were a Kick off return to start 2nd Half and a defensive TD on a sack and fumble. They had about 150 total yards. The final was 42-14, Bama’s offense to Auburn’s D was 42-0. Should be a good game on Satruday, but UGA needs to play error free ball and not give up something on the special teams.

To all the Dawgs out there, you should be comended for winning 10 in a row, only LSU and Houston has done better. You can only play those on your schedule and when those teams suck, you better win. My only hope is when another SEC team or ACC or Big 12-16 (whatever they call themselves) has a week schedule and goes undefeated, you folks do not disparge thier week schedule as many Tech fans, Bama Fans, Gator Fans Bradley and Shultz have done to you. That is what pisses everyone on both sides off. Our teams can only play who we play. I have seen on these various blogs folks say the schedule was made 4/5 years ago. 4 to 5 years ago, the Gators won their second national championship under Meyer. We can only play who we play when we play them good or bad. So in the future remember, the schedules are made 4 to 5 years out and Tenn is playing for SEC championship with a weak as schedule keep your mouth shut. Be glad your playing this weekend, there are 10 SEC teams at home all wishing they could be in your shoes.

It all comes down to how well UGA’s offensive line plays. I don’t think it’s shown a lot this year. I think LSU’s defense will pretty well shut UGA’s offense down with the result that UGA’s defense will be gassed in the fourth quarter. I expect another LSU/ARK score. Could be worse.

GTBob, did you score tix to the Odor Eaters Bowl yet? Should be as cool as previous trips to the Humanitarian and Emerald Nut bowls.

A TRIBUTE TO MARK RICHTS GREATNESS: I know that its a crazy prediction, but Georgia winning 56-0 over LSU is entirely possible. All of the Mark Richt haters and Mark Richt bashers, I bet you are literally on the verge of a nervous breakdown before this game with this historic matchup against LSU coming up. I know you Richt naysayers out there are beginning to realize that Mark Richt’s legacy and coaching genius is about to be defined forever on a national stage for everyone to observe, not to mention his Richts illustrious coaching legacy. In spite of the fact that Georgia has been under-ranked by a wide margin for the last three or four weeks and should have moved up to #3 spot in the polls, the Bulldogs can prove they deserve a much higher ranking to maybe #2 or #1 by overpowering LSU on Saturday. The naysayers have been continuously calling for richts head and for his pink slip for him to be fired after the bulldogs came out of the gate losing their first two contests, starting their season in a complete train wreck. The Bulldogs regrouped, got the train back on the track, and after the losing streak was halted at 2, no one really realized that the Bulldog train would come down the track and produce 10 straight wins, flattening everyone in their path. Ill bet you that after Georgia wins the game on saturday against LSU, former legends Hershel Walker and Buck Belue will probably salute the modern day team in recognition of their incredible accomplishment. What Mark Richt has built at Georgia is an awesome powerhouse football team, as the Bulldogs have flexed their muscles for three straight weeks simply overpowering the competition, looking more and more each day like the #1 team in the nation. Now whats on tap for them tomorrow is a date with destiny and a national spotlight for everyone in the country to see just how great Georgia will fare against the #1 team in the country. My prediction continues to stand until I am proven wrong: my money is on the bulldogs and I am convinced they will easily crush LSU 56-0 tomorrow, giving college football arguably one of its 10 greatest games in Division I history. The Bulldogs will win tomorrows game against LSU in an absolute BLOWOUT. A convincing win by Georgia over LSU should launch Mark Richt into college football coaches hall of fame. I think the projected win tomorrow over LSU should certify Richt as the fifth greatest college head coach of all times, ranking him behind only embattled coach Joe Paterno, Bobby Bowden, Paul “Bear” Bryant and the old ballcoach, Steve Spurrier.

Georgia Tech plays legitimate student-athletes who will go on to successful careers in industrial management and engineering.

Georgia plays bozos who would not have met the academic requirements to enter any college or university. The few who actually graduate will have worthless degrees and skills for which there is no demand. Most will be pathetic losers who are a burden on society. Fortunately the CEOs of Walmart and Waffle House are Tech alumni who will give some of them jobs, but even a graveyard shift fry cook has to have some skills and the ability to stay sober.

Yes, Tech fans would love to defeat Georgia more often, but not at the win-at-all-costs price that Georgia pays.

Next time you see a homeless drunk, be kind to him, he may be a former UGA player.

I hope UGA wins Saturday, to prove that they got screwed out of the title game a few years back. It all revolves around money and ESPN Politics. Bunch of horse crap. I understand UGA does not deserve to be in the title games this year, but if UGA wins the SEC Title. Then that was a load of crap if LSU is in the Title without the SEC Title.

PLEASE SOMEONE FUND OUT WHERE LSU IS STAYINMG TONIGHT AND KEEP THE PLAYERS AWAKE ALL NIGHT AND MAYBE THE DOGS WILL HAVE A CHANCE. PAY THE LSU BUS DRIVER TO GET LOST ON THE WAY TO THE DOME. MAYBE THE ELEVATOR AT THE HOTEL WILL GET JAMMED AND THE PLAYERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHOW UP. THEIR ARE ONLY A FEW FANS GIVING GEORGIA A CHANCE. OH WELL IT IS ONLY A GAME AND IF GEORGIA LOSES IT WILL NOT BE THE END OF THE WORLD.. I BEFORE I DIE WOULD LIKE TO SEE ANOTHER NC.IT IS POSSIBLE IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS, BUT EVERYTHING HAS TO FALL IN PLACE. INJURIES GETTING THE BREAKS BOTH ON OFFENSE AND DEFENSE.. GO DOGS BEAT LSU. AND MAYBE SOME ONE SOME WHERE WILL GIVE THE DOGS SOME CREDIT.

#1 Georgia is a good team. #2 They played a cupcake schedule. The SEC East being down was not their fault, Coastal Carolina and New Mexico State was. The elephant in the room is that year after year Georgia (among others) schedules Weak Sisters of the Poor as home games to ensure a higher win total and home game ticket/concession revenue. I took my kids to the Coastal game and it was a joke; both upper stands were half full. Its time for those who pay for tickets to demand a better schedule. It rewards the fans and alumni and it ultimately helps your strength of schedule in the fictional national championship conversation.

John Stewart wrote Daydream Believer. John was the first replacement in the Kingston Trio and was the lead singer on many of the Trio’s hits. If you have never stumbled across John Stewart’s music, you may have a chance to discover something you would really like. I was first exposed to John at the old Great Southeast Music Hall in the 1970s.

Check out his music on Amazon or whatever. On Amazon, you can listen to cuts from “Cannons in the Rain”. Difficult to categorize but, if your type music (maybe California folk/rock), will be well worth your while.

Unfortunately, John died recently from Alzheimer’s.

Well to all my strong relentless imaginative diehard Georgia fans, it is with great reluctance that I now try to get you to “Wake Up” from your weeklong dream of beating LSU! As you will find out when you wake up, however long it takes, you loss. Your team played gallantly in the 1st half going into the locker room up 10-7 and holding the Tigers to 0 first downs. Then 3rd quarter happened and the tigers got out of the cage and opened up a can of W_A!!!! A few things happened along the way and by the end of the 3rd quarter, the diehard imaginative Georgia fans started disappearing, as if to refuse to accept reality; their DAWGS were getting a beat-down! As tigers do after a conquest and a night of good rest, we move on to the next challenge looking for some more “TIGER BAIT”

Oh wait, we already know the meal and it was some tough meat on the first round, but now that we have tasted it, we know what spices to use to make it more tender and mild, so enhanced marinade Elephant Gumbo coming up Jan 9th!!!
