Welcome to Georgia-Georgia Tech week. Is it just me or does the point spread seem a little thin?
Most sports books have installed Georgia as a 5½-point favorite. Granted, the game will be played at Tech — home field is worth three points in wagering circles — and this is a rivalry game, which generally screams, “Beware!”
There’s also the uncertain status of Georgia running backs (either because of injury or immaturity).
But the Bulldogs (9-2) have won nine straight and secured a spot in the SEC championship game. The Jackets (8-3 after a 6-0 start) have had a better season than expected, but they just allowed 31 points to Duke in a 38-31 win (the Blue Devils entered the game ranked 99th nationally in scoring offense at 21.8 points per game).
Georgia is ranked 13th in the BCS and the Associated Press. Tech is 23rd and 25th, respectively. I would’ve thought given the way perceptions tilt, the line would open at 10 points or higher.
I’ll have more looking ahead to the game in the next few days, but I figured this would be a good place to start the banter.

Neither. Teams above or below any SEC are not the same. The SEC teams are not the same. You wish to cherry pick something from last year that might support your contention, add it to something this year that might support your contention, then mish-mash everything together and feel you’ve made a position. All you did Bob was make yourself look like a fool.
Last years numbers are only relevent to a discussion on last year. As far as this year, SEC offenses are playing against SEC defenses. When SEC defenses are the most dominant in the nation it would stand to reason that the offenses of these same SEC teams would look pale in comparison to teams who do not play against those same defenses. Simple logic really. You just insist on being ignorant to simple logic

Who has ga beaten? Crap. The past 3 games have been tech by 3, ga by 4 and ga by 8, although it was really 1 without the genius call by pj to let them score. so again why would you expect 10? I guess you’re easily fooled like most ga fans into thinking they are something great because they’ve beaten coastal carolina, new mex state, ole miss miss st tenn aub and fla. yeah those are some high caliber teams. not.. lsu should be favored over ga by 13. and i will still take them as i expect a 45-10 blowout

Jeff how long have you been covering sports? I mean, how dumb are you? Are you one of the dumbasses who thought because uga steamrolled aubbie, that they would do the same to kentucky? Sure sounds like it. Point spreads are where they are because that’s how the money is flowing. It isn’t set because you think it should be higher. The line is about in the middle of the average margin of victory for both teams the past 3 years. Why is that odd? Sounds about right to me.

Munson jokes should never be made. Its very disrespectful to make fun any persons death. But Larry munson was a class act that never did anything wrong to you 5150. Once UGA takes care of Tech on Saturday it’ll be amusing to see the criticisms Tech fans come up with. One thing is for sure…..they’ll still be here taking shots at Georgia one way or another. I’m guessing that after we win they’ll blame some individuals on their team, and reference our “weak” schedule again. Then again, they’d be talking about a schedule that includes GT, and they’d be making quite a statement about themselves.

Tech 38 UGA 28: Except for Boise State, UGA has played the weak sisters of the poor. To say the SEC East is weak is to state the obvious. Plus UGA will be looking ahead to their beating at the hands of AL, LSU or Arkansas. Tech is at home. Game means way more to Tech. The only way UGA wins is if Tech has multiple turnovers.

I for one am rooting for UGA to beat LSU not just as a UGA fan, but as a person that hate’s the BCS and bowl system. I want BCS chaos. In a perfect world LSU would beat Arkansas, Auburn would beat Alabama (Not going to happen), and UGA would upset LSU. As well as the rest of the top ten keeps getting upset.We need a playoff.

UGA is going to win 63-6. Carlton Thomas is gonna sneak in the endzone – like he sneaks women in his hotel rooms. Isiah is going to blow by Tech defenders – like he blows smoke out the dorm room window.
We are the best team in the SEC and we have the best coach in the world. His hair is even the best – its getting ready for the halo thats going to float over it, He makes his wife say “go dawgs” through the dashboard of his ford F-150 through some type of magic device.
Once he beats Tech 63-6, on 9 TD’s in the first half, he is going to beat LSU by 20+ and play in the BCS NCG… then he will win that game… retire… and become a professional Lee Dungarees model.
The only way we loose this game is if the REF (people in stripes with non-sense letters on their backs) screw us… or tech laterals it to a leopard who runs over/ eats our defense. Tech plays in the ACC, so, automatically we are +10 better. SEC is like Whistler’s Mother… nobody knows why… but its the freaking best. The ACC is more similar to whistlers brother… nobody knows what that is… because it sucks.
