Oddsmaker: Georgia would be 10.5-point underdogs to LSU

As Georgia fans begin to allow themselves to dream the impossible dream — beating LSU in the SEC championship game — here’s a clue about how big of an underdog the Bulldogs would be that week.
Todd Fuhrman, the senior race and sports analyst for Caesars Entertainment in Las Vegas, said Monday that he projects LSU to be a 10½-point favorite over Georgia at the SEC title game at the Georgia Dome on Dec. 3. That assumes the Dogs win their final two games against Kentucky (which would clinch the SEC East) and Georgia Tech (road), and LSU defeats Mississippi (road) and Arkansas (home).
Fuhrman, reached by phone on Monday, said the point spread will be about 10½ “unless something unexpected happens, like LSU struggles against Arkansas. The [SEC title] game is going to be played in the Georgia Dome, but in championship games there’s not a real home field advantage.”
Georgia fans might perceive the projected line as a lack of respect for a team that will have won 10 straight. But Fuhrman said, “A couple of weeks ago I think most of us would’ve said LSU would be close to a two-touchdown favorite. But their offense has struggled some the last couple of weeks and Georgia’s defense is playing well, especially against the run, like they showed in the Auburn game. If LSU can’t run, they’re going to have problems.”
Fuhrman also said that the play of quarterback Aaron Murray and the receivers around him give Georgia “a puncher’s chance” in that game.
The projected 10½-point spread seems right to me. Do you agree, or is Georgia being short-changed?

I want CMR, TG, and BOBO to put together game plans the next 2 week like there is no tomorrow…. I want DECISIVE…CONVINCING…..KICKA$$… wins this next two weeks as last.
THESE LAST TWO WINS ARE GETTING RECRUITS ATTENTION FOLKS…AND they are seeing a lot of guys getting play time including a lot of freshmen… TEAM wins. Look at how may players (64) got PT on Saturday. Look at how may players have scored in last two weeks (8 & 7). Keep pooring it on and look at the next class!!!!

The line should be no more than 7.5 or 8. I expect it will come down a bit when LSU struggles with Arkansas. And then the sharps will bring it down some more by going heavy on Georgia. This line will be 8 by the time the game rolls around.

I do not fear losing to UK or GT. Now getting from Bobby Dodd Stadium to my car after the game, does cause fear. Walking at night in that cesspool of crime is frightening.

OK – no… Read the article. Nobody said UGA had to beat tech to get to the SECC game…. But I tell you…. if they beat UK to make it to the game but then loose to Gt before getting there???? I call BS on that. Dont really care muct to see UGA against LSU if they cat beat Gt the last game of the season.

The way I remember it UGA was a dog to LSU the last time they played in the SEC Championship…the Dawgs did pretty well in that case. Obviously a different year but with UGA’s Defense and balance on offense they could give this LSU team fits, especially since the Tigers lack an offensive identity.

I hope LSU blows the doors off of Arkansas just to make the line go up even more.
Ga will either give LSU everything that they can handle or they will pull it out. LSU will be facing a team with a good defense as well as good offense in the SECCG.
I just hope the officials give Ga a level field to play on this time. It’s great to be!!!

Right now, Georgia is ranked 4th. in total defense with LSU being ranked 2nd. Georgia is ranked 31st. in total offense with LSU being ranked 79th. I’m not sure where the 10.5 points is coming from but personally I would rather be the underdog.
