With Lattimore out, Dogs’ hopes rest on Florida game

Mark Richt didn't like what he saw at Vanderbilt but his team's in a good situation.

Mark Richt didn't like what he saw at Vanderbilt but his team's in a good situation.

Not that anybody wants to see a great athlete have his season ended by an injury. But could anything more possibly go right for Georgia?

South Carolina has lost running back Marcus Lattimore for the season with a torn knee ligament. Lattimore was the key to the SEC East title last season. It was reasonable to think the Gamecocks might be able to overcome the personal and career meltdowns of quarterback Stephen Garcia and still win the division if they could get reasonable play from backup Connor Shaw. But losing Lattimore might be too much.

What does that mean for the Bulldogs? Just this: Beat Florida in two weeks and there’s a good chance they’ll be in the SEC championship game (against either Alabama or LSU).

Consider the top three teams in the East and the remaining schedule:

SOUTH CAROLINA (4-1): The Gamecocks hold a tiebreaker edge over the Dogs for their win in game two. They probably will still win their game at Tennessee in two weeks, but sweeping the final two games at Arkansas and home against Florida will be difficult. Actually, they could lose both of those games. A split leaves them at 6-2. But minus Lattimore, 5-3 may be more likely.

GEORGIA (4-1): If the Dogs sweep their final three conference games against Florida, Auburn and Kentucky – all at home – they’ll almost certainly win the division with a 7-1 record. If they beat the Gators, they’ll eliminate Florida and likely finish at least 6-2 (assuming a win over Kentucky). In that scenario, they would need South Carolina to lose to both Arkansas and Florida (assuming a win over Tennessee). If the Dogs to Florida, they probably would drop a game back, allow the Gators back in the race and lose tiebreakers to both division competitors. They could finish 7-1, 6-2 or 5-3.

FLORIDA (2-3): The Gators need to sweep their final three games to have a shot in the East. That’s possible, particularly if injured quarterback John Brantley comes back from a leg injury. (Coach Will Muschamp said he hopes to get Brantley back for the Georgia game.) After Georgia, Florida’s only remaining SEC games are against Vanderbillt and South Carolina. They’ll finish 5-3, 4-4 or 3-5.

Most of the Dogs’ shortcomings were on display at Vanderbilt Saturday night. Mistakes and the lack of discipline upset coach Mark Richt. But they’ve won five straight and getting back to the SEC title game now may hinge on just beating Florida. Which, of course, has been a problem over the last two decades.

I think that you are counting SC out wayyyyyyyy too early. True, Lattimore makes them a MUCH better team, but they still have some weapons. Shaw actually looked like a QB yesterday,so I would keep the chamapagne on ice for the moment, Dawg fans.

Finishing the season 10-2 would be a nice thing no matter what happens in the SEC Championship game. We still have 3 tough, yet do able, games ahead of us. We are not a lock. Lose 2 of the games and Richt is right back in the fire.

Glad we won 5 in a row, but if anyone has any misgivings that this is a good team, you are fooling yourself. The cumulative SEC record of the SEC teams we have beaten is something like 1-13. Our record is a product of the schedule more so than improving. Yeah, we are a little better, but we are not a great team. Plus, we have to beat Florida and we all know how good we are at that.

I am happy to be winning, but I expect we’ll lose at least one more time if not more. Sorry to be Debbie Downer, but that is just what I have come to expect from this team.

It is what it is Jeff. Sorry Bill. I love Dawg football. Have for over half a century. What I have seen over the last few seasons is not UGA football. In no way, shape or form. It hurts when a win is met with a sigh of relief instead of unbridled excitement. The Vandy victory still feels like a loss to me. I called the punt block. Thought it would be block then scoop for Commodore triumph. Glad I was wrong. Sort of. If it takes loss like that to get Saint Mark Wretch out then so be it. These Dawgs are unmotivated and totally uninspired. Never thought my guys would fall onto par with Vandy. It has happened. Only blindest cannot see change is mandatory for Dawg success. Win out or not! Sigh. :(

When Richt was building houses and whatnot in BFE this summer, I hope he built one for himself. This guy is a “character guy” coaching non-character players and hiring non-character coaches. Columbus

ACTUALL SC could lose ALL 3. Why do you say probably win at Tennesse in 2 weeks? With Lattimore “probably”. Without him, there is no “probably” against any SEC team. Tennessee is at LEAST even up with SC at this point and Tenn be at home. Stop the run and make em pass is not too hard to do now, or stop the pass and make em run. That is definitely a winnable game for Tenn. Florida tougher than Tenn at home? Florida CANT SCORE, Tenn can and SC will be at home against Florida. Sc will not be doing much scoring against anyone. No wonder when the games have gotten tougher, somebody is not so well on their picks with this kind of thinking……

If Brantley makes it back, Florida will be a tough game for UGA no doubt but UGA will be pumped up and play a great game. UGA has favor this year so expect a win against Florida thanks to the wake-up call they just got against Vandy. It came at the BEST time possible and I, for one, am extremely glad UGA beat Vandy but got the scare! Because they did not play a good game defensively. Also 2 weeks to prepare is going to make a huge difference as will having Mitchell, Crowell and Ogletree in the lineup full speed. Go Dawgs!

Charlie Weis had nothing to do with Brantley getting hurt and forcing him to play two true freshmen at QB. The Gators offense was potent before that happened. Driskel and Brissett are going to be really good….but they aren’t right now…..and the Gators have no game changing receivers at all. He will teach the two QBs and the Gators will recruit the receivers they need for Weis’ offense….you can bet on that.

The reason is that Florida fans wont be patient with the struggles. Zook left Meyer with a lot of good players and he one the lottery with the 2nd best player in college football history. Mitchell coming back is more of a threat than the other players. Crowell has a lot to learn and needs to get bigger and stronger. Now COME ON, as much as I would like UGA to win the SEC, any reasonable person or UGA fan will not expect UGA to beat LSU or Bama. UGA will have a chance because they made it to the game but thats about it. There would have to be SIGNIFICANT improvement for UGA to even keep the game close and a masterful game plan worked to near perfection. UGA would have to grow up a lot in the next month and I dont see that happening. A great game plan could keep it close for awhile, but in the end, there is not much hope of beating LSU or Bama. Crowell does have to grow up, but anybody who knows anything about him, knew that when he was still in High School. He certainly will under Richt if he wants to. Lets hope he wants to! Lot’s and lot’s of coach’s get fired EVERY year……………..FOR NOT WINNING. PAID TO win and play for conference titles and National titles. If he wants to mold and save young men, there are many places to serve to do that. That should be the BY PRODUCT, not the mission, at 3.5 mil per by the way.

BobDawg, You are right. Who else is out there that’s won over 100 games? This was not all the head coach. I think UGA has lost several players over the last few years to career ending injuries and being kicked off the team. I can tell things are turning around. Look at the Falcons D today. That was the same defense Martinez ran at UGA. We had players playing a bend don’t break zone defense that were not very good. Now we have a real defense with great players playing it. UGA will win out to the title game. They may win or they may not but with most of the team coming back on defense, and Crowell, Murray Mitchell, and Jay Rome at TE we will start out in the top 15 next year.

The team was pathetic yet again this past weekend and barely squeaked by a bad team. This is a joke. This guy needs to get fired anyway, no matter what happens at this point. This season is a mirage. Take a hot shower and some Vitamin C – and stay away from the Kool-Aid!

When the haze clears up, you will understand that ALL college football teams are “young”, that they ALL suffer from injuries to their players and that not every recruit pans out.

Georgia doesn’t have a great defense. Georgia has been playing some real cream-puffs. Vandy lit your defense up, and Vandy hadn’t even scored a point or gained any yardage lately – until they played against your “great” defense last night – with their backup quarterback.

Georgia won’t even sniff a title game. You need to go ahead and disabuse yourself of that little fantasy, before you get your feelings hurt… again.

Auburn hasn’t beaten anyone who was any good. They don’t deserve to be ranked. They would have lost to South Carolina if Shaw had started. Brian

October 16th, 2011
11:13 pm

I think we SHOULD beat Florida, but that doesn’t mean anything in this rivalry. They have our number and a mental thing with us. If we have less than 2 turnovers then we win. But we could easily have 4 too. Hope this is the year we beat them, even if that does set us up for a 30 point loss to Bama or LSU. Go Dawgs.

kerryb

October 16th, 2011

With UGA’s run defense Dyer will NOT run for 200. He will be lucky to get a 100. With our secondary they will not be able to throw to whoever they have at WR. It’s delusional to think that Auburn that could only beat an undermanned UF team starting a Freshman QB starting his first game 17-6 will beat UGA 27-17.

Here’s a fact that you can put in your pipe and smoke. Mark Richt has lost 8 times out of 10 to the Florida Gators. If that trend doesn’t change and quick, no amount of whining about young players, injuries, or scrambling to win 5 in a row against the Sisters of the Poor will save his job for him. Time to put up or shut the $&@@ up. A decade is plenty time enough to show what kind of coach you are against the teams that really count. And by this measurement, Richt is a huge failure.

They even got upset with the SEC 98 lb. weakling, that dirty and intimidating Vanderbilt. I will be rooting for whoever Georgia plays from here on. Bad doggies.

Schultz is Not a Good Writer

I watched the video of the game and here is my take:
1. Shawn Williams took a cheap shot at a Vandy receiver in the first quarter.
2. Vandy LB Sharpe took a cheap shot at Xander Ogletree on a kick return, then punched him in the face and Shawn Williams actually came over to break it up and Sharpe punched him in the face. Shawn Williams got flagged.
3. Vandy Center got called for clipping, but it should have been a personal foul. The play was out of bounds, he was on his stomach and Kwame Geathers was on his stomach. The center obviously dove at his legs, which could have cost Geathers a serious injury and (for all we know) a career in professional football…..Geathers threw a punch and the refs knew why he did and, believing it justified, did not toss him.
4. Shawn Williams must have done something to the Vandy bench as the final play ended because he is moving away from that sideline toward his own players when Franklin comes out and is yelling and pointing at him.
5. Grantham probably overreacted, but you cannot blame him for protecting his own players…..
6. Richt pointed at Grantham and told him to get out of there when Grantham started coming back.

When I coached and the opposing coach said something to me about the way I talked to my guys or if they tried to talk to my guys I would tell them to coach their own ball club…….

to sum up, I think Franklin has talked up how Vandy is not going to be intimidated anymore and they bought it and they took some shots to make up for one by Georgia…..you cannot blame Georgia for giving it right back to Vandy……..football is a tough, physical game and those playing and coaching at this level are modern day gladiators………

You do have to be smart, though…..when you’re playing a team with a reputation of choir boys and you (except for the last two seasons) get penalized for passing gas you cannot let them draw you into losing composure.

By the way, found it interesting that the announcers failed to credit Rambo, with tipping that next-to-last pass that likely kept it from being a TD…and also that the Vandy kid that was trying to recover the blocked punt, as soon as Butler got his hands on him, flipped the ball backward – wouldn’t it have been a hoot if it had been recovered by Georgia? Guess they would have to have claimed that the Vandy guy had possession first and based on the calls from this bunch of officials, anything that would have gone our way was out of the question.

This season is 2007 all over again…bear with me; sophomore quarterback, freshman running back, steady but improving defense, post-game hostilities AT Vanderbilt, Richt saying that ‘we need to improve’ , loss to carolina early, Carolina eventually choking, etc. Anyone remember what happend that year? You guys think that LSU wanted to face that team? Does anyone think we are ‘afraid’ to face LSU this year? Would it not be prudent to believe that Les Miles fears playing Georgia in the Dome? How about Alabama you say? Read Saban’s book and you’ll know what he thinks of Georgia. Putting it plainly, he doesn’t want to play us. Period. I won’t come down on Richt. Too much of that here. Terry Bowden said it best when he said that Richt is a victim of his own success. I’ll take the good with the bad even if it means we come up short against some teams. I would not trade this squad with any (AND I MEAN ANY) team in the states right now or next year. Who do we get if Richt retires to south america? Who? No easy answers—bird in the hand…….the devil you know…….all that crap. RUN THE TABLE FELLAS—THE POLITICS WILL TAKE CARE OF ITSELF. Speaking of the ‘war’ talk……….been there. ‘War is young men dying and old men talking.’ I’d rather root for the young guys and leave the rest behind.

Jeff-

Marcus Lattimore getting hurt is not something “going right” for the Dawgs. Any true fan of football would not want to limp into a title game because another team’s best player was injured. I wish the young man a full recovery; he has a big future ahead of him.

The rest of you idiots can sit and spin. That goes for the Dawg “fans” that do nothing but whine that the victories aren’t impressive enough, and all the other teams’ fans that are only here trying to rile up the red and black faithful that will fall for it.

The great news for both groups above is that the way the rest of the schedule looks, we can either a) lose a game and hear everyone say “i told you so”, or b) win out and listen to everyone complain the “Florida is down” or “Auburn is down” or whatever, so the victories don’t really count.

What a waste of time.

JB, do you realize that the only team Bama has played that is any good is Arkasas and they gave away a game to Texas A&M. So, who has Bama played so far?
————
Let me understand – Bama has only beaten one team who is any good (please remind me what UGA’s record is against Penn State by the way) so the mighty Dawgs, who are on a 5 game streak, including wins against Ole Miss and Vandy, will be sure to take them.
Meanwhile, the results against common opponents:
ALA 34 Vandy 0; ALA 52 Miss 7 – UGA 33 Vandy 28; UGA 27 Miss 13
Certainly little difference between these 2 teams

As a dog fan for many years I can only hope we win out and that SC wins out too. That way we won’t have to play for the SEC championship and get beat on by LSU or AL. We then get a decent bowl game and hopefully close out the year with a bowl win! No, I don’t have aspirations of a top national rating because this team hasn’t shown that it deserves it, but they are still my dogs and I will cheer them on to the end. Go Dawgs!

Well if the fans played the games the Dawgs would certainly not win the SEC East or even win any game. I’ve never seen such a negative bunch in my life. I’m leaning towards believing that the incident at the end of the Vandy game will set the Dawgs on fire just as the the end zone celebration did in 2007 against Fla. If they are fortunate enough to win the East can the beat LSU or Ala? I don’t know. You wouldn’t think they would but if you think this Defense will take guff from anyone I think you’re mistaken.

Buh bye to Richt

October 17th, 2011
7:18 am

I’ve never understood how anyone could take any pride in the UGA football team. Look at their history for the past forty years: how can anyone ignore Jan Kemp and the remedial studies scam, the Jim Harrick sleaze, the DUIs in the athletic office (not just Damon Evans), the DUIs and other arrests of players, the #1 party school label (for the most drunk students), the suspensions and outright dismissals, the Fulmer Cup, and on and on?

As disgraceful and sickening as it is, I don’t see many alumni and fans demanding an end to this sleazy activity. It sets UGA apart as the kind of school that decent people despise and it’s become an embarrassment to the whole state of Georgia.

Will it ever end? Not while Mark Richt is at UGA. Richt is the biggest hypocrite in the United States. And even with the cheating and lawlessness that he ignores, he still doesn’t win the SEC.

So you’re paying him $3+ million a year to be champions, but he can’t even win the SEC East. So why do you keep paying him millions of dollars year after year?

Just wondering.

If the Dawgs play the way they did against Vanderbilt, they can forget Florida and perhaps winning the East. I suppose every team has the right to have at least one bad game and it’s a shame it had to come at a time against a team of whom you should beat rather handily. Maybe Vandy is just a little bit better than we think.

Boo Boo, are you ever going to quit playing it safe trying to run out the clock? This mess at the end wouldn’t have happened had you not been so conservative. My goodness, you have one of the best QB’s in the SEC and tall WR’s and tight ends. Why couldn’t you try at least once and get the first down you needed at the end of the game, then run out the clock? Try some clock management!

Hey, Grantham take down that bed sheet you hand over your face on the sideline and watch what’s going on! Your “D” is beginning to look mighty bad!! Do you honestly think they can stand up against Florida, Auburn and Ga. Tech? Oh, and probably not New Mexico State and Kentucky! I don’t know. Wishing for the SEC championship game to sink to the Dawgs’ level is a little like hoping for a date with Jessica Alba when you know you’ve got serious issues with performance anxiety.

What’s the point?

Does anybody who cares about the Dawgs – besides as an excuse to get sloppy drunk in public – really want to see this UGA football team playing Alabama or LSU on national TV in the conference championship?

To borrow from the great Samuel “If you look closely up my nostrils, you can see my brain” Jackson, UGA needs to Rise Up. A bad year for the SEC East is no reason to celebrate our mediocrity.

And it may, in fact, be a down year for the hated Gators. But two of their losses came to the current BCS #’s 1 and 2.

If the BCS ranking is worth anything, Florida would have to knock on the NFL’s door to find tougher opponents.

I forecast another grim result for the Dawgs at the cocktail party.

Georgia will most likely win the East. If they have any chance of winning the SEC they need to play lsu. lsu’s defense has a lot of holes. They cant stop the outside pass or the run game off the tackles. Their offense struggles when they play a good defense. For example they only scored 19 points when they played Miss State. Georgia’s two losses were against Bosie and South Car. Who has a combined record of what? 12-1? This team is not as bad as most think. Now if Georgia plays Alabama in the SEC game, O’ nelly!! Alabama will more likely destroy lsu as will ARK. Mark my words..lsu will finish 3rd in the division with a overall 9-3 record.

As I said last week, Murray would have a good day throwing the ball. Vanderbilt while not the most talented plays smart, hard and fundamentally sound which would give anyone fits. Our game with them only 7-0 with less than a minute before halftime. 100 yards in penalties is hard for any team to overcome. What should have been we won despite ourselves has been clouded by Granthams second meltdown in less than two years. Richt should get on board with the one voice program. October 17th, 2011

The big story line from here on out with EACH GAME is whether CMR hangs on to his job. Losing to Florida with a new head coach and staff, with a former UGA Captain now coaching them will be Richt’ s Waterloo. Then, to slip up to AU and possibly GT, will put a wrap on his era. Losing two for sure and possibly ONE MORE and he will be done.

The first two games took a huge toll on the probability of his longevity at UGA. Folks, we all knew that he needed to defeat one or both SC AND Boise State and we were horrific with errors and mental lapses in BOTH GAMES.

Time will tell. This UGA edition is not necessarily about SEC East titles, as much as it is about CMR and does CMR have a future at UGA?

I’m not saying we dont have flaws either…heck most of the starters are soph….we seem to have issues finding a QB..but I think we finally did the right thing in sitting trotter…he is mentally collapsing..

Our Defense has been stepping it up each week…if we had a better offense we beat arky no doubt..but thats the past…

Ontario and Dyer are the 1-2 punch on offense…and we’ll get one of the best Wide outs in the SEC with Blake coming back.

You can mention that little streak all you want..but we have the numbers that matter: 2010 BCS National Champs and the overall wins against UGA head to head.

I don’t get all the doom-and-gloom, there were never any real expectations UGA would win the East this year. Far too young and thin in key areas. They can play out a very respectable year and come back next year primed for a title run.

You can make valid arguments the Dawgs should have been better prepared to take the East this year, but didn’t we all know going in they weren’t ready yet? I mean, if SC and the Gators weren’t all beat up we’d be EXPECTING to finish no better than third. As-is, it’s there for the taking, and it should be fun to see what they can do.

WDE, Good luck this weekend. If Auburn can just hang around for 3 quarters ie., South Carolina and implant some doubt with LSU I am just saying. We still have to get past Tennessee and they always play us very tough. We really need for one of wide outs to step up big time. I am afraid that is where LSU will exploit us. Not sure we can beat LSU via the air if they put 8 in the box. Their secondary is lights out.

The papers in alabama only write about how great Bama is and how well Cam Newton is paying as a true progessional this year. We come to this site to get the low down on the Jackets and Dogs all in good fun. You’re more than welcome to come to the Bama sites and bash us but I get tired of all that Bama is great bullsheet because I already know that and don’t need to read what some so called writer knows that couldn’t tie his shoe. The Gators are in a world of sheet with no QB but this goes to show just how great the ratings services are about 5* this and that. Driskell is a joke at best and the other guys is even worse. You see the AU so called wonder boy Frazier and he couldn’t hit a bull in the azz with a base fiddle throwing the ball yet he was a can’t miss because he was 6 5 at 230 . He played at a YMCA league in HS and set all kind of records but when comes into the games the DC’s will know he can’t scare them with the pass and they will destroy the run. I have my doubts about the Bama vs LSU game and I think the Tigers just might take us but you best hope you (UGA) don’t have to play Bama in the SECCG because Nick is going to send Richt and staff a message you fans will not like by way of the final score. You can thank Alabama for you chance to beat UF in years. This Bama team is huge, fast and skilled. They hurt folks and not like the thugs at AU (Fairly). Hope your meet LSU in Atlanta and not Saban. Their is bad feelings between the staffs so the boxing gloves are off. You have been warned.

One good article would be: How was Tech moving up in the polls last week to #12 when they had not played a top 50 team? Don’t make any sense.

UGA needs to continue to improve. They are on a five game win streak. No matter how many negative slants that reporters can put on it, they are improving.

UGA can take a major step this week against Florida. If UGA wins, Tech fans will still not like UGA, the AJC will still find negative slants and there will still be empty seats at EVERY Tech home game.

People who characterize an entire team as “criminals,” “thugs,” etc aren’t intelligent enough to see reality as anything more than a cartoon. UGA has improved significantly from last year and is in position to win out. A loss to UF would be the mark of failure (pun intended) because UF has intimidated the Dawgs since the era of the Dark Visor. Any further losses this year (except the SEC title game, should UGA get there) would be difficult to swallow. CMR won’t be fired if the Dawgs go 9-3 but excellence requires 10-2 in the regular season and highly respectable play in the post-season. UGA’s defense would be as good as Alabama or LSU faces this year (excepting one another) and we might surprise folks by keeping it close against either one, especially since they would both be reading the hype coming in.

If FL has Brantley and Demps back, I believe FL will beat Richt again. As one blogger already wrote, given that UGA may back into the SEC East crown, either Saban or Miles will make Richt look like a fool in front of a national TV audience. The glaring difference between the levels of play of the respective programs will be made crystal clear. If it is a true blowout, the question is, does McGarity still let Richt hang around? Is winning the East by default in a down year against mediocre competition worthy of being retained, given the last three years of disgraceful performance?

Its all laid out for the Dawgs, Kentucky is a gimme, Auburn @ home will be a tough game but Dawgs should win if they can stop the run, so all they HAVE to do is beat the Gators in a down year with their QB coming off of an injury, IF you cant beat them this year, you dont deserve to go to any bowl game or the SEC champ. game where “Bama will definately ROLL over the Dawgs

I particularly enjoy the hype every year for this game, but I have too many UGA friends to take it to an absurd level. Based on how my Gators have looked thisw past 3 weeks, it is safe to assume that the Dawgs have an edge this year. However, if Brantly returns and plays to his potential, the outcome of the game will be a toss up.
Too bad about Lattimore at SC. I bet that other teams the Gammies play will now key on Connor Shaw. It will be interesting!

IF Brantley and Demps make it back for the game, then I like the Gators chances. If not, then I expect to go 0 for October.
Our offense is just pathetic right now with either of the freshmen running the show. Just load the box to stop the run and blitz the heck out of them on third and long. Made Auburn’s defense look like Bama or LSU. Of course, not being able to field a punt didn’t help the cause.

It is not UGAs problem that the rotating SEC schedule some of the teams are not as strong as the experts thought they were.Miss ST for example played LSU tough for three and a half qtrs before losing.UGA was not suppose to stay on the field with them but beat them handily.Florida Tenn are going thru trying times no fault of Georgias. If Georgia makes it to Atlanta, they will show up and give LSU or Alabama all they want.Mark Richts record against both coaches have been competitive and Richt with a 3-1 mark against Saban AT LSU and Alabama.Richt has also had his way with LSU in 2008 52-38 20-17 in 2003 both on the road.Ala and Lsu are playing great and look to be a cut above major upsets happen all the time, look at Utah against Ala in the sugar bowl.Utah should have been blown off the field but matchups and coaching made up the difference.Even the 31-0 halftime game vs Alabama UGA MADE IT A RESPECTABLE 41-30 at the end.

Do not expect GA to win SEC, but a SEC East title would be sweet this year. Have to beat FLA to make last 5 weeks pay off. With all of FLA’s speed special teams must be fixed. Our D certainly is not a pound you into the dirt opposing QB killing machine like last year, but the early games showed what a team looks like when half the players on the team were playing their first 2-3 games at the college level. Amazing, isn’t it? UGA is young. Auburn is young. Florida is young. Tennessee is young. What? Teams graduate and lose players and they are young sometimes? Amazing!!!

Yeah, UGA had a tough game against Vandy, a team with a top 25 D in Total D and Scoring D, well, at least before our game, as they are not an awful Defense. UGA may very well beat AU, I have only been speaking to the posters who think that UF (what is it, 18 of 20 they have won? surely you had the better team a few times in that span and still lost) and AU are penciled in wins..As rational and educated fans, AU alumni have already realized (actually we knew it on NFL draft declaration day) LSU and BAMA are going to be embarrassing buttkickings this year (especially after the soul crushing smack-down laid on Bama in the Iron Bowl last year). So the UGA game is to determine if we go 7-5 or 8-4..not a bad rebuilding year!!

I will just posit this..as long as CAM is looking great in the NFL, and as long as CAM Graces our trophy case just above our crystal football signifying the 2010 BCS Football National Champions, we will always have the ultimate shut down comeback for any UGA comment…

@WDE

Ole Miss got beat down by Vandy (30-7) and by Alabama (52-7).

Georgia’s 27-13 win over the Nuttsters hardly counts as a dismantling.

Bama Mike,

3rd Melt Down in less than 2 years. He cursed an SEC head coach face-to-face and had to shoved backwards 10 feet by a campus cop for defending player # 36 who was called for and found guilty of dirty hits. He choke-signalled a University of Florida field goal kicker, who by the way, made the kick. And, he grabbed Nick Williams by the scruff of the neck in the G-Day game on National TV and flung him out-of-bounds for a dirty hit on our Starting Running Back – while both of them have since quit this gig and moved on, transferring out. That is 3 melt downs by Todd Grantham to-date; and, that if you don’t count last week grabbing Mark Richt on the sidelines and telling him not to call time-out.
Excuse 1 ___ 2 _____ 3 _____ 4 ______.

“@what of it? Is this your first year watching college football, for example a Old Miss team we took apart nearly beat USC last week.”

If you do not know the difference between Ole Miss (Mississippi Rebels) and Mississippi State bulldogs, what are you doing in here telling everyone how much the heck you know about everything ? Moron.

I always thought the whole “choke sign” incident was overblown.

That said, what Grantham did after the Vandy game would have been a firing offense at any University with even a thin veneer of pride and ethics.

I love the genteel ole miss campus. Oxford is beautiful. Whenever we traveled there for a game I always felt like any moment col Sanders would appear and rap anyone with a Matthew Stafford Frat-Cut on the head with his big silver cane and tell them to get a job.

Georgia’s score vs. MSU was 24-10, so that was hardly a beatdown either.

I saw carolina v mstate, yes, and I saw good stuff. kick coverage was excellent. That’s new. defense, game clinching interception. The QB forgot the negative plays, and led a fourth qtr. drive for a game winning touchdown. When’s the last time that happened for SC? They’ll win every game except Arky for sure. Atlanta may be in the cards, maybe not. but they’ll be fine. and oh yeah THE BRUCE IS LOOSE!!!

“a firing offense at any other University”

Yeah, right. Did you see the two NFL head coaches almost duke it out midfield yesterday? This stuff happens. Nobody is proud. But none will get fired over it. Take off the UGA hatred blinders and see.

WTF does this even mean? Contrary to common Auburn, AL practices you are not supposed to drink the bong water Trish.

Vandy is much more disciplined than Florida and UGA, that being said if we don’t shore up our problems/issues by the time we play Florida we won’t win. We won’t beat Auburn either. We should beat Kentucky. Even if everything works completely out for UGA and we win the East if I were CMR I would just forfeit the SEC Champtionship game against Ala/LSU-either one will probably kill or injure most of our players!!!

Listen up all you armchair QBs…… Florida is going to be in survial mode and will play their arses off agains UGA. They have a good defense and we have all seen the sputtering UGA offense. UGA must play a near perfect game (especially Murray) to win. Florida is in their head….

That being said UGA is capable of running the table if they get by the Gators….. For Dawg fans beating Tenn. Fla, Auburn and Ga Tech in the same year is a big deal…..

“Everyone DOES realize that UGA would play LSU or Bama…and get totally destroyed, right?”

I will tell you this…. Those 2 schools would pick any other East team to play in the SECCG than the Dawgs, you can be sure of that.

As good as both of them are, they are not NFL teams. Anything can happen, so just take care of business Dawgs and then we will see what happens on the field.

Personally I don’t want to go to Atlanta ans be humiliated by Bama. But the sad thing is if we lose any of our remaining games we should be ashamed. If we don’t beat FLA this year then there is no hope of ever beating them again and we should just cancel all remaining future games with them.

I don’t believe there is a segment of Georgia fans that are rooting for the Florida Gators this year because they have had enough of the Mark Richt era. These UGA fans want UF to win because they feel Richt will be fired for losing that game. Unbelievable and believable only at Georgia where the mediocrity has them losing when they win and winning when they lose. Nuff said !! C’ya !!

Note to AD McGarity. Please start your search for Richt’s replacement now. I have suffered financialy and emotionally the past 3 years when I went to the Ga./Fla game. I am not going this year because I know UGA will lose. Even without their starting quarterback, Fla. will win. Richt is not an SEC caliber coach. His teams have the talent but he cannot instill discipline and a dominating spirit in his players. The discipline was atrocious in the Vandy game. Please get the Boise State or Clemson coach on the line and make thgem an offer.
