Boise State’s superior coaching took over in the first quarter. No discipline (3 penalties on the first 4 plays) Going away from the five man rush which was the only thing that stopped Boise State early on.(Boise rushed five regularly with success) A flawed punt return plan which let the punter hold the ball 3 extra seconds for his initial coverage to get down field (rush the punter, hello). Superior athletes were dominated by better coaching and smarter players(they don’t have silly exuberance over small plays) The coaching staff as I have been saying for three years is a complete and miserable failure. How much longer do we put up with this.

You season is over before you started, that must be the hardest part for you guys, geez I can’t imagine being a fan for them. A coach that can’t win important games, stupid uniforms, overrated players…there is always some basket UGA fans put all their eggs in that is supposed to be the spark to win a championship. I think if the Athens corrections department had a team they would be better, they have all your good players.

I watched the replay of the Miss St, SC and Ark games 4 times each. Had Ga ran the ball more in those games the outcome would of been different. The defense played better than what the record indicate.
If Crowell gets 20 to 25 carries a game, I believe we will go undefeated. If Murray pass on 1st and 2nd downs like he did last season, I think they will lose 2 games. The SEC won 5 straight NC because those teams had a good running game and a dominate defense.

How did that undeated prediction work out for you tony?

this really hurts. i really do admire Richt as a man and a Christian, and i so hope the team can be turned around, but this was simply an awful display of football. bobo is just so predictable and our defense looked like they had not conditioned at all over the summer. I will always be a bulldog fan, and i will not give up on them, but this is really bad. hard to believe at times.

Todd Grantham and Mike Bobo don’t have what it takes to be successful in the SEC. Bobo might run the worst offense in college football. And hey, Todd…can you throw in a blitz? Maybe just once? I’m tired of watching great players fail to maximize their potential because UGA can’t take advantage of their talent. Make no mistake this loss was about coaching. Period. Missed tackles, dropped passes, blown coverages, silly penalties and tired players–it’s been the same story for the past three years. AD McGarity, will you please fix this? Your head coach seems unwilling/unable to do so.

Addressing the UGA folks who gave me so much grief the last few weeks – UGA was just not ready – this team has a long long way to go.

I was pleasantly surprised how physically superior and how better are athletes were over UGA”s.

The UGA O-LINE was Big and Slow – was pretty easy to dominate.
Our O-Line – and our 5″-11 center our played both UGA’s 340lb nose tackles and UGA’s Defense.

That was a whipping.

The big thing was out players were much better prepared and executed extremely well, Our schemes were way better than UGA’s
Our coaches were way ahead of UGA coaches – we knew what to do and when to do it. – really dictated the game.

Whipped – Game Over. UGA may not be our toughest game this year – that was actually pretty easy.

UGA fans probably don’t care what a Tech fan thinks, but it seems like the problem with Richt is similar to the problem at Tech we had with Paul Hewitt. When it comes to getting talent in, they’re both fantastic.

But that’s not how you build a program… it’s about having a philosophy and a system, and then recruiting around that. Richt and Hewitt seem to do it the opposite way… get talent and try to throw it together, and that usually ends up with an incomplete team. A sports like football isn’t as simple as having the biggest or the fastest or the strongest… it starts with the X’s and O’s and building a team around what you want to accomplish. That’s why Boise State won tonight… coaching, plain and simple.

I like Richt and i’m not even saying UGA should fire him… but any coach who goes about it the way it seems like he’s approaching it is IMO destined to fail. We kept hoping it would work with Hewitt, and it never did beyond having the occasional good season. But it’s simply not sustainable.

It is amazing. I am not a college football coach, so why can I see things coming before Richt.

First, Richard Samuel has no business being the starting running back for UGA. He sucks! He had his chance in 2009 and failed miserably. How many games will it be before he’s the third best back? It took about 4 games in 2009. I understand moving him back to the running back position to add depth, but he should not be getting this much playing time.

Two. Bobo……..should have been fired in 2009, ABSOLUTELY should have been fired in 2010. Sadly though, we have to put up with him another year. I just hope this is the last.

Three. Mark Richt, if you lose to S.C., which you will, you should just go ahead and resign. You are an embarrasment to yourself and this program. Leave and do it now!

Why are we forced to watch such pathetic football? We are one of the wealthiest football programs in the country, and we have one of the worst coaching staffs. I pray that we will find a great coach next year. Chris Peterson just put in an excellent interview……were you paying attention Greg McGarity?????

Forget the football….who manages the uniform deal?? Auburn University, in a contract with Under Armour , would never…ever allow a company to place out football in these uniforms. Auburn has never and would deviate from out traditional uniforms. If UGA is willing to succumb to Nike in this way, well UGA needs to get a grip. The new AD must intervene on this point. If this team isn’t going to show up ready to play, then I want this season to bottom out so that this coaching staff gets fired and then we can rebuild. This programs needs a complete and total overhaul. We’re getting exactly what we deserve. This is what happens when we don’t hold demand more and fire people who need to be fired. I hope South Carolina hangs 50 on us next week. Extreme losses are what this program needs in order to prove to our idiot donors that a change needs to happen. I’m over it. Wake me up when this program is serious about winning again.

Some perspective here:

1) Dawgs played the #5 team in the nation. A loss was always a possibility. I am frustrated with Richt too but I am not calling for his head just yet. If we continue with more of the same from last season going forward then I will jump onboard.

2) The season is not over after a loss against a top 5 team. Lose 3 or 4 in a row then I will concede.

3) USCe did not impress me. Fell way behind E. Carolina early and finally battled back in the 2nd half to beat them. I do not foresee total domination against the Dawgs next week.

4) Give Murray a chance. This was the biggest game of his short career and he simply played a bad game. It happens…even Tebow experienced that before. Not comparing Tebow & Murray…just saying that it happens regardless of talent.

5) Members of the “dream team” played their first college game tonight against a top team. Give them a chance before you call them a bust. Mitchell is a stand out.

No excuses here, just stating that all is not lost on the season. Don’t put your season tix on Ebay/Craigslist just yet fellow Dawg fans. Congratulations Boise, you played to win. Dawgs stunk it up tonight but there are a lot of games left to play.

Three years later, we’ve been more than generous in giving Richt a chance to right the ship. His approachable personality and kind nature have helped sustain him through the tough times these past few years but we should all see the writing on the wall. i was at the game and while much of this article is true, the simple fact is boise had the bigger, stronger and faster players, not UGA. we were pretty clearly out of our league on a physical level.

As a fan who is was so disappointed with his team last year, I waited for this season for so long. I haven’t seen UGA football in 9 months and I all heard was how great your O and Dline were. Well now that I just saw that horrible poor ass showing from you tonight…I realized I still have not seen UGA football in 9 months. Richt you have no one else left to fire. You had all summer to prepare and watch and scheme and to start the second half after resting for 15 minutes we have to have substitutes because our lazy ass linemen couldnt keep up with the pace. It’s amazing to me that you let “over the top” UGA fans be your basis for every one of us. Obviously the fans who troll the boards all day long have nothing better in their life than this, and don’t truly understand the current situation/state of UGA football.

Most people who truly understand where UGA is in the program cycle, were pretty nervous about the game because we knew it could be a good game or we could play pretty bad.. I think most people who are not overly obsessed would tell you they had reservations about how good we were, and that we could be good, but we could just as well be pretty bad again… There are obviously issues.

@ Barkley I am a Dawg fan so I support this team. I have provided a realistic viewpoint on the state of our union after the FIRST game of the season. Yes we have been on a downward spiral for quite some time and yes we should be able to drill opponents like we used to. My point is this is a new season; I am not basing it on season’s past. Boise is a top 5 team so it’s hard to see that the whole season is lost on a loss against a higher ranked opponent. Give them a chance before we start the whole “this is 2010 all over again” talk. If we get drilled next weekend and the weekends after that then I will eat crow.

Disagree with the notion that Richt is a great recruiter, at least on the defensive side. We haven’t seen a load of blue chip NFL prospects getting drafted in the first round. What we’ve seen is a bunch of Rivals.com Hall of Famers arrive in Athens and become marginal players at best. Nick Saban IS a great recruiter AND coach. Richt is… meh.

I think you should ease up on talk about the players, and keep the focus solely on firing Mark Richt. After all, the players are only aged 18-22, and are mostly young men who would have nothing else to do on a Saturday night that can be considered legal. Many have never known the easy life that reading books, writing compositions, and solving arithmetic problems can bring. When their two-five short years are up, and Athens runs them off with arrest warrants, they will be forced to work menial labor for bosses who hold grudges against them, just because their team beat their boss’ team each November, after Thanksgiving, to go 6-6, 7-6, or 6-7 and qualify for one of the 1,000 bowl games. Give them a break, please. Their coaches show them diagrams of plays, hoping they will be able to understand what the diagrams mean; but it is unreasonable to expect miracles. Praise them for what they do right, rather than condemn them for doing most things wrong. There is enough pressure on them to fit in on a college campus. They don’t need friends reading the blogs to them, making them cry themselves to sleep.

It was obvious Boise was the better team in every way. Better coaches, better schemes, better prepared, better conditioned and I dare say….better players in many areas. This was embarrassing but has become the norm over the past three seasons.
Richt is a fine man but has not assembled a fine staff who can coach the fine players they recruit. Displine is lacking in our program and it shows in our games. Penalties, not having the right players on the field at the right times, poor play calling on O and D!
Wow, what a colossal mess. Wai till you witness next week!

After the season, hire Chris Petersen and let’s start anew!

Mike Bobo must go, when you have 3rd and 1 and you do not get a first down, that goes on the coach. Time and time again, we are running that delayed hand off going eats and west. We had the advantage in size and strength and what does Bobo do, he runs east and west. What ever happened to smash mouth running with hard blocking and tough running? Why not drag your tight end through where the backers just vacated? How about running some counter plays to get the defense moving so our big hogmollies can blow them out? How about recognizing that your freshman gained almost 4 yards a carry and he was clearly underused? How about recognizing that running your receivers 10 yards down the field before they make a cut will get your QB killed if you don’t have a dump route? How about throwing some stunts in so that their O’Line won’t just cut your fat boys at the line? How about anything? You are pathetic and are an embarrassment as a coaching staff. Where are all of the Kool-aid guzzlers tonight? Probably drunk and passed out from all the dreams and lies they sold themselves to believe things were going to be better after the Liberty Bowl debacle. The bottom line is after tonight’s performance CMR and the Dawgs must HUNKERDOWN !!

Give the Broncos credit, Boise played a smart game with the hurryup offense and kept great field position throughout the entire first half to wear the Dawgs defense down. UGa was not ready offensively for this type of game against a ranked opponent. The Dream Team true freshmen that played gave it their best shot and performed admirably considering they are still in the infancy of their college football careers. So the loss can’t be blamed on youth or inexperience. Face it UGa doesn’t have a good running game or the depth at RB to be successful. The O-Line took a beating and didn’t excute in crunch-time situations. Most of the fingers are pointing at the offense, but the defense and special teams struggled and let down as well. Again I ask is the coaching staff at UGA working hard to prepare talent & outcoach opposing coaching staffs or simply relying on the talent they assemble to compensate for their coaching deficiencies ? In the Boise game it kind of looked that way again, that the coaches were praying for somebody to make a big play. Andit happened a couple of times, but not frequently enough to change the predicted outcome.

Criticize Bobo all you want but it doesn’t matter. Even if Richt would have took over a OC he wouldn’t have had a clue either how to successfully attack the Boise defense either. Don’t you think if CMR had any real answers on offense wouldn’t the mediocrity be replaced with more acceptable outcomes for the Dawgs ?! After all he is on the hotseat and it’s getting close to now or never time for him to turn things around. So one would think he would take more responsibility for the offense with so much on the line.

When UGa scored on the long trick play run I felt that was it. That was our best shot and we lucked up and sprung a big play for once. I asked myself is that all UGA really had ? Boise sensed it too and began a workman type assault en route to a 28 nothing run on the Dawgs. The Dawgs were clearly playing for what little pride they had left at that point at a virtual “home” game in Atlanta. I was very surprised to see them score what would be two meaningless touchdowns for damage control. The uniforms had nothing to do with Boise being better prepared and more confident in themselves than the Dawgs. The 3 million dollar question is, how many more beatdowns and embarrasements must UGA continue to endure until the UGA Kool-Ade community will man up and face the truth and rightfully place the blame on those responsible for the string of humiliations this once proud program has endured over the last three going on four years. Until the delusional UGA fans in high places wake up and face the truth UGA football will continue to get worse before they get better. The Kool- aiders and reprobates still don’t realize the days of entitlement wins for UGA are over !!

As we Dawgs limp around licking our wounds again up next comes the #11 South Carolina Gamecocks, lead by UGA nemesis Steve Spurrier. Hunkerdown !!!

Richt has lost his fastball. Ever since we were ranked #1 heading into the 2008 season, we haven’t been a solid football team. I’m not one of those knee-jerk nutjob fans who wants to fire a coach after every loss. Richt has to find a way to get his fastball back for the South Carolina game. USCe fell way behind an unranked opponent before coming back for the W. Auburn struggled and finally pulled off a win against an unranked opponent. The Dawgs played a #5 team and kept it close until the 2nd half. They played terribly in the 2nd half and ultimately lost. UGA is being called an embarrassment to the SEC on this blog yet other SEC teams had problems today with far lesser opponents and are heralded as superior?! Don’t get that…

However, look at USCe…good season last year, no NC, no SEC, got hammered in the SECCG and have a history of failure yet they are deemed head & shoulders above us? Yes we have regressed over the last few yrs, and there is no excuse for that. We should finish #1 in the East every season. However, this was the first game of the season, AU and USCe did not look good either. Spurrier has not accomplished great things in his long tenure at SC; Richt has shown moments of greatness. Mike Bobo is a terrible play caller. We are down 21 to 7 and we line up in the I and drive to the Boise State 25, then we line up in the stupid shotgun. First down – off sides, First down again – dropped pass, Second down (still in the shotgun) – short run, Third down – sack, Fourth down – missed field goal. Why did we drive down the field in an I backfield and then jump into shotgun? We always get in the shotgun on first down inside the 30 yard line. If Richt doesn’t go back to calling the plays, the season is lost…

So LSU had distractions and TONS of adversity. They overcame it. Auburn clearly sucks. They overcame it. Notre Dame clearly sucks… sorry. Boise had big time adversity with 2 starters sitting out. And they win going away. Mark Richt builds momentum in his mind. It never translates to the field. His players still talk smack. He thinks it’s cute. This isn’t the 700 Club. No, actually, we fork over our money for tickets without so much as a “good luck and God Bless!” There are no good tidings. The planted seeds never grow. We might as well pee on them, for it’s out of our hands. And Mark laughs like it’s all in fun. As Alec Baldwin said in the famous movie and Broadway Show GlenGarry Glenn Ross, “I told them to fire your fuc in a$$ because a loser is a loser…” No truer words have ever been spoken. Wasn’t it a much BIGGER deal in 1984 to beat a GOOD Georgia team that just came off the best 3-year run in recent history? Or was is sweeter in 1990 when you beat a terrible 4-7 team?

Come on… lay off. Georgia lost, Georgia is hurting, and it could be a difficult year. WHY the glee, the joy, the unbridled hate for a struggling team? Mark Richt is a GREAT man who has never done ANYTHING to you… he’d give you the shirt off his back. Aaron Murray is a GREAT kid, full of integrity. There are some GREAT stories on Georgia’s team — some kids who have struggled past learning disabilities, severe injuries, etc., and they are working their butts off… and some of you clowns who could’t even run 10 yards without getting your fat butts winded are LAUGHING and celebrating their demise?

That shows a complete, utter, massive lack of class and character on YOUR part… and whatever team YOU root for, be it Tech, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, etc…. well, YOUR program has warts, too. They all do. I just don’t get the almost unhealthy pleasure some of you get from Georgia having a bad game and losing to somebody… it’s really sad and pathetic and I pity you.

The thing is, Georgia WILL be back. People said we wouldn’t be after Dooley left, or after that 4-7 season, or after Donnan lost to Tech 3 straight years, etc. But Georgia always rallies, and we’ll be a strong team again. This year, next year, whenever, but we lose a few games and some of you think UGA is Prarie View A&M? It’s sickening and pathetic the way some of you are blogging on here. Try to act like adults, why don’t you? If you are symbolic of your fan base, I would NEVER want my kid to go to school there.

@Fire Richt Now: Garcia didn’t manage to win the SECCG last season with Lattimore and company. Yeah he had to face Cam but they didn’t even keep it close. UGA had a better showing against Auburn when they played. Garcia hasn’t accomplished greatness in the yrs that he has played for SC. I don’t suspect that he will establish himself as a reliable QB this season either. The decline of the UGA program is inexcusable…I give you that. I am going to wait and see what happens next weekend before I give up hope.

As you suggest, USC is hardly a powerhouse and no one else on our schedule comes close to the quality team we lost to tonight. We’d be the whipping boys of the east, lined up for sure defeat at the hands of our far superior western foes. Moreover, Richt would likely survive another year. Which is worst: losing to USC now and losing Richt, or losing the SEC championship game and keeping him?

Come on Georgia you lost to the #5 team in the nation. That does not mean the team is going to suck or that Richt should be fired. I am not a Georgia fan as I am a fan of an out of state school, but I live here and have many friends that are die hard Georgia. I will be pulling like crazy for Georgia vs South Carolina next week. Ya’ll need to have the house full, have on your rightful uniforms and make it a very tough environment for the gamecock team next week. It is a long season and life goes on. Better start looking to next Saturday. Stop feeling sorry for yourselves. There are people in hospitals with bad conditions. That is real sorrow. Since January 10, 2011, the entire “Dawg Nation” has anticipated the next year under coach, Mark Richt. Unfortunately, Richt and his staff have not, and that seems to be the standard. Let the numbers and the facts speak for themselves. Under Mark Richt, Georgia is 0-5 against top 5 teams, and 2-9 against top 10 teams, and has preformed 14-13 out of its last 2 seasons. And, for the past 5 years, Georgia has lost one more game each year than it did the previous season. If this is not a downward spiral, I don’t know what is? Last night, I watched the TCU/Baylor game, and both coaches had more animation, drive, and enthusiasm in one game than Richt has had all last year. Since taking office, Richt has been a product of his past. He has stood by Mike Bobo, and Willie Martinez. Don’t forget that Martinez, Richt’s best man at his wedding, replaced Brian Van Gorder, as his defensive coordinator, and was not let go for some time! Conflict of interest! Richt has proven his inability to adjust to such teams as Florida, Central Florida, Auburn, Alabama, Colorado, and Kentucky. Two of those team names should strike a chord in the half-hearted Georgia Fan! Tonight, Boise State “rode in on a pale horse and death followed with him”! Death to Richt’s and Bobo’s tenure for sure. The eleventh hour, sorry the eleventh year has come, and nothing has grown out of the 2006 season. It’s time for a changing of the guard! The definition of STUPIDITY is “to continue on the same course of action, and to expect different results”! That is what Georgia Football has become! All the recruiting in the world cannot save you from poor discipline and coaching! If coach Richt’s only idea to motivate his team is uniform changes, then I suggest pink pants, purple shirts, and black helmets! Surely that will make the team faster, stronger, and more agile than a new play book. Way to go Ritch, you found the solution wher others could not!

UGA spent way too much time in the Shotgun tonight. Wow that was a change from years past of running the I-formation all game long even on 3rd and 30. Change is good but too much change is stupid. Why didn’t they run the ball and control the clock and the flow of the game. When they did go I-form they ran three straight play action passes. i thought play action was only supposed to work after you established a running game from within that same formation. Who taught Bobo how to call plays? Wow it was hard to believe he actually played QB. I thought QB’s were a little bit smarter than the other guys but in his case he might as well been the idiot kicker.

I agree that Bobo is the problem, but the fact is, he is Richt’s problem. We did much better when Richt called the plays. I do not understand his loyalty to Bobo, but it is probably going to cost him his job. I have met Mike Bobo and watched him play ball and call plays. Upon meeting him, I remember saying this is no “rocket scientist” and that was when he was a player. He reminds you of a smaller more sophisticated Ray Goff. I am not blaming Bobo for many of the failures, but it is really not his fault as he should be at Memphis or somewhere else. Bobo is frankly a high school coach at best. He is not articulate and has trouble thinking on his feet, ala. the play calling. His idea of chess is tic tack toe. I blame Richt, as the CEO of UGA football, not taking the measures to ensure that we had if not the best, but dang near the best in coaching. As CEO, he is responsible for the accomplishments and failures of his subordinates. Took him too long to fire Martinez. Terishinski has no reason being in the gym for lack of integrity and expertise. Marc has gotten lazy and his priorities have changed. Just because you are in Bible Study with these guys and your wives are friends, does not mean it is not a big business. I suspect you are going to have time to communicate with each other regularly. My fiancee’ asked me what would Richt do? Does he have enough money? I told her, “Last year he sold a $2 million house and gave it to charity”. She responded that obviously he had enough money to fulfill whatever his desires were. I think she is right on point. His heart, soul and mind are on Godly things. Does not matter that they should intersect with a college team, I think Lou Saban does not agree. I am not going to judge Marc Richt nor Lou Saban. All I know is that you are are paid alot of money to win football games. Does not make it right, just the way it is. Personally, I think Richt wants to leave to go somewhere else with his contract where he has more time for his Lord and not the Bulldog Nation. I do not have a problem with that, I just wished he would go ahead and do it and lets get Petersen in here as quickly as we can. No Kiffins, Holtzs, Bryants, Carrolls or others, just people that do their job that they were expected to do within the rules. I hope he would be a Christian, but I do not believe that Arthur Blanks, as a Jew, considered Mike Smith’s religious beliefs. He was hired to win ballgames. Now, if Joe Paterno will come here, that would be welcome, which he will not, but how many of our recruits are Catholic. I am a proud Christian and will be in church today. I want our athletes to respect the law and hopefully believe in a higher power. I would expect our Coach to do the same, but his job is to set an example, counsel them, but most and not least, WIN. Play with discipline. Forget the penalties and every time you made a tackle or a good run or reception. Act like you have been at this level before, even if you have not. Stop the trash talking, whether they do it or not. Start remembering you represent the Georgia Bulldawgs and not you glorified self on one play. Focus on every play and give it your best. If you are not willing to do that, then you do not deserve to wear the uniform. Get a damn education and quit looking at this as a free ride, meal or extension in your life. I do not see any motivation except at the start of the games or we kicking someone’s butt. Where is that internal integrity that did everything in their power not to be beat. Boykin, you are the exception. The rest of you look like this is practice, and the number 2 team is supposed to understand that. This is University of Georgia Football. If your first priorities are to go the NFL, hangout and get fed housed while I play ball in front of TV and get whatever money we all know you don’t get, then do it. I am tired of this crap and I know we play in the SEC, but what the hell happened to class, presentation, respect, winning, and more importantly team over me. I am just making this assumption based on the facts, you guys are losers that will not stand up for a man that deserves better. You are fat, unconditioned, unmotivated(coaching and you probably never knew success and if you did it was easy). Man, y’all want to do. Play rap. Prance around. No I am no racist. All I am saying is what Coach Richt cannot or will not say, are you thinking of the team on every single play, or are you thinking about ESPN, the NFL, etc. We keep sending skill players to the NFL and do not have the results at home. Kellen Moore is a great college quarterback, will probably win the Heisman, will be drafted in the second round, and probably will never start. Hines Ward will probably go into the Hall of Fame for his receiving records and pro accomplishments. Don’t know for sure, but I would bet. This is a guy that was quarterback at UGA, and they are trying to change the rules on how aggressively a wide receiver can BLOCK someone because of him. Boys, that is a Bulldog.

But see, that was he and teammates did not have in mind. They did not want to have an individual show so they could be the next A.J. Green, or fat ass lineman on both sides that somebody will pay for because you are fat. Those little white boys on the Boise’s line kicked your ass. You could never get to him, but they damnsured got to yours. You are costing your coach his job because of your own selfishness. I do not expect that any of you will give a crap, because he makes so much money and you do “without”. I saw Herschel on TV on the sideline on TV as I was not at the game. I remember walking up to him after a late season game (South Carolina), and saying “Herschel, I enjoyed watching you today, thank you for that opportunity”. His response, “Thank you. I did not think that was my best game, but if you thought it was a good game, I am sure it was”. I walked away and said that is a good man. If only our athletes, specifically at Georgia and see what a champion carries himself on and off the field, maybe they would understand.
