Michael Vick: He's finally out of debt.
Arthur Blank: He'll get $7.5 million, maybe more.
So if I read this correctly, Michael Vick just helped Arthur Blank move $7.5 million closer to getting a new stadium.
Vick’s new reported six-year, $100 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles means he should be able to clear all of the creditors listed in his original bankruptcy, which totaled about $20 million.
Not surprisingly, the biggest creditor was the Falcons. They are owed $7.5 million from his signing bonus after he defaulted on his contract. Something about dog fighting and prison. It’s all a blur now.
Our D. Orlando Ledbetter reported back in April of 2009 that Vick and the Falcons had reached a settlement on the salary cap refund, so that part of the story is not news. But this could be: Via ProFootballTalk.com, the Falcons will seek and could receive salary cap credits, which would come as Vick returns the money.
Greg Aiello, the NFL’s vice president of public relations, told Pro Football Talk via email “that such matters are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and that the question of whether the Falcons will receive cap credits is currently under review,” according to the website.
Theoretically, getting salary cap credits could give the Falcons’ a competitive advantage over other teams, albeit slight. At the very least, Blank can stash the $7.5 million in his building fund.
So does this mean even Falcons’ fans and Vick haters can acknowledge something good has come out of his comeback?

Mike is the only one of that crowd actually out doing something to try and redeem himself and protect dogs from the very things he was doing. So for the dog people. Here’s a guy actually going out and trying to change the communtity and people who were in his place’s opinions on dogfighting. He’s trying to stop this from happening again. That’s fairly incredible. Instead of looking at the situation and seeing how all of his people sold him out and being negative. He’s doing good things. All of us should desire to see growth in people. He’s a much more mature person now. I can only imagine his redemptive work will continue.

Matt Ryan didn’t take Vick’s job, Joey Harrington took Vick’s job. Actually, Joey Harrington took Vick’s vacated job… to be clear. Me, I’d much rather have Ryan over Harrington.

Hey I was a huge Mike Vick Fan and I was very upset with how things ended in Atlanta. I still to this day think that some things in this case was different it woudl have been a different outcome. It is what it is. He became a better man and we became a much better team because of this situation. For the people that still want to call the man a thug, creep, etc. We all have fallen short and this man made a huge mistake that he paid dearly for. Lets see how you would act at 23 or 24 with millions in the bank and every one telling you YES. He thought he could do no wrong but he was wrong and he spent 2 years in jail because of it. The man did his time let it go. I am still a Mike Vick fan until Sept 18 and when ever he plays the Falcons.

Matt Ryan is the third best QB in the south division, at best. Vick was and is light years ahead of Ryan. While the Falcons are concerned about the secondary, they need to get a “real” backup QB. Vick is redeemed and haters hate.

Slumber party? Shoot, Vick wasn’t even born the last time I had a slumber party (like 1974)…

I agree with the people who say he has learned a lesson and grown up. It’s not the dog fighting I am talking about. It’s his attitude. He seems like a more mature well spoken individual. He says the right things, shows more sportmanship, and seems dedicated to what he does (play football). I pull for him now to do well, except with the Falcons. Then I want him to do bad quickly.

“The really cool thing is that Vick will never ever be as great a Quarterback as Matt Ryan, no matter how you measure it.”
I still don’t see where Matty Ice has become such a great QB. He really hasn’t done too much more than carlson palmer and the other manning guy who think he’s Tom Brady. Did any of you see his performance this past weekend against Pitt. Matt won’t be great until the falcons get rid of Mularkey. Ryan isn’t anywhere near Vick and one last thing, Ryan can’t make receivers better, his receivers make him look good. Got to be thankful for Roddy White. Lets pray that Roddy doesn’t get hurt!!

I cant believe that Jeff even wrote another Vick Column. Regardless, I wish him well. I even feel a little sadness for the guy. He is trapped in his fame, and by the time he pays everyone back, he will be broken down dealing with the pounding his body has/will take. But it is a great story of redemption and will.

I am not necessarily a Michael Vick fan but I certainly used to be. Watching him play football with The Falcons was about as exciting as any football I ever watched. However, fan or not…the man has paid his debt to society. Can’t we just get past that and let him go on with his life like we would any other person in the same situation?

Any Atlanta fan that likes dog killer vick is an idiot. The guy single handedly set back our organization for a while and repaid Blanks and Falcon’s fans loyalty and support by lieing, taunting and commiting one stupid act after another.
It’s bad enough the Falcon’s got nothing for sticking by that punk for so long but then mv announces to the world “Yeah I didn’t play as well as I could have in Atlanta, but I have matured now.” Thanks you classles thug your lazy stupid a$$ puts in as little effort as you had too in ATL but now that you are in the most classless city on Earth you are going to actually try.
I never hope anyone gets hurt, but I would laugh like hell if vick had a career ending injury in the first game of the season.

Unlike so many others in sports, this man lost EVERYTHING. Spent time in prison – roughly two years and literally had to start over.
He has done virtually everything right since walking out of prison and with a ’spot light’ shown on him from the very beginning.
He has worked hard and is living what he is preaching everyday. He has earned and deserves this contract.
For the haters… You need to move on…

I remember the first game Ryan ever came in during the preseason. He came out with the winding down in the half, and dinked and dunked it to the correct receiver, as any good QB should. You could just tell, he “got it”. Now I want Cam, and he had NO clue as to who the correct receiver was. Looks like Carolina is in for a long year.

Ryan is a work in progress, in 3 seasons he has shown a lot. Will he plateau here? It is anyone’s guess, but my thoughts are he will probably play 10-12 more years, get to the playoffs 7-8 more times, and eventually win a game there too.
