Would you like to win a free $100 gift card to Taco Mac and a Fathead every week of the football season? Would you like two free tickets to the Georgia-Georgia Tech game? How about a $5,000 trip to Hawaii?
Hah! Fat chance, sunshine. The only way you can win any of the above prizes is to pick winners of college football games every week better than me — and that’s so not happening.
But amuse me. The “Sack Schultz” contest, a monumental success in year one, just went on performance-enhancers.
Sure, you get gift cards and a trip to Hawaii. I get a pat on the back. When I make a deadline. Which is seldom.
Here’s how it works. Go to www.ajc.com/go/sack-schultz to register. Registration begins now!
Each week, there will be a selection of college football games from across the nation. All you have to do is pick the winners. I will do the same, so you can actually see my picks and steal my sage advice, or go in a different direction and lose.
Last year, we had about 5,000 entries. I placed 108th. But really, I was just trying to keep everybody interested. This year, you’re going down.
This contest has two levels: local (for AJC readers) and national (tied in with similar contests at other media outlets). The prizes:
♦Weekly prizes: The weekly local winner gets a $100 gift card to any Atlanta-area Taco Mac. The weekly national winner wins a “Fathead” of his or her choice.
♦ Grand prizes: The local grand prize winner gets two tickets to the Georgia-Georgia Tech game. (The local contest ends on Nov. 21, one week before the national contest ends, to accommodate the winner). The national grand prize gets the whopper: A $5,000 trip for two to Hawaii, including air fare and hotel accommodations.
You can register at any time beginning Aug. 26 but try to get in before the games start Sept. 1 to have the best chance at the Hawaiian vacation.
That’s it for now.
And one more thing: Enjoy second place.
