It’s ‘Sack Schultz’ time and you can win a trip to Hawaii!

If you can pick football games, she will be your tour guide.

If you can pick football games, she will be your tour guide.

Would you like to win a free $100 gift card to Taco Mac and a Fathead every week of the football season? Would you like two free tickets to the Georgia-Georgia Tech game? How about a $5,000 trip to Hawaii?

Hah! Fat chance, sunshine. The only way you can win any of the above prizes is to pick winners of college football games every week better than me — and that’s so not happening.

But amuse me. The “Sack Schultz” contest, a monumental success in year one, just went on performance-enhancers.

Sure, you get gift cards and a trip to Hawaii. I get a pat on the back. When I make a deadline. Which is seldom.

Here’s how it works. Go to www.ajc.com/go/sack-schultz to register. Registration begins now!

Your table (or stool) is waiting at Taco Mac.

Your table (or stool) is waiting at Taco Mac. (tacomac.com)

Each week, there will be a selection of college football games from across the nation. All you have to do is pick the winners. I will do the same, so you can actually see my picks and steal my sage advice, or go in a different direction and lose.

Last year, we had about 5,000 entries. I placed 108th. But really, I was just trying to keep everybody interested. This year, you’re going down.

This contest has two levels: local (for AJC readers) and national (tied in with similar contests at other media outlets). The prizes:

♦Weekly prizes: The weekly local winner gets a $100 gift card to any Atlanta-area Taco Mac. The weekly national winner wins a “Fathead” of his or her choice.

♦ Grand prizes: The local grand prize winner gets two tickets to the Georgia-Georgia Tech game. (The local contest ends on Nov. 21, one week before the national contest ends, to accommodate the winner). The national grand prize gets the whopper: A $5,000 trip for two to Hawaii, including air fare and hotel accommodations.

You can register at any time beginning Aug. 26 but try to get in before the games start Sept. 1 to have the best chance at the Hawaiian vacation.

That’s it for now.

And one more thing: Enjoy second place.

108 out of 5,000 means you beat 98% of the field…that’s pretty darn good, JS.

I ‘m picking Ohio St. as the new leader in cheating ahead of Auburn and Tech. Boy, what a hand slap for all that. If I were Tech, I would be PO’ed. They get fours for basically nothing and Ohio St. get basically nothing for murder and rape !!!!!!!!

McGarity said last night in Augusta that losing the first two games will not be the death nail for Richt, that the whole season is what you evaluate. I look at VT last year losing those first two, then running the table and winning the ACC. He said the energy, the fitness, the whole team is day and night from last year. He feels good about it.

Correction….He said losing the first two “would not”, not “will not’ be the death nail for Richt. Some on these blogs have suggested he would be fired after two games if he lost them. Georgia would never do something like that.

I don’t.

Joe Bob, this was just posted by The Advocate:

“Baton Rouge police have secured arrest warrants for LSU senior quarterback Jordan Jefferson, 21, and sophomore linebacker Joshua Johns, 21, police spokesman Sgt. Don Stone said in a news release.

The arrest warrants accuse each player of committing second-degree battery, which is a felony, Stone said in the release.”

Always good to see freshSEC SEC arrests leading to Fulmer Cup points. Even though uga is the reigning champ, it will be tough to overtake Auburn for the 2011 edition. But LSU and Mr. Jefferson are willing to get into the chase.

Buckeye – Ohio State had to get a few of those Fulmer Cup players on their team before they could finally (barely) beat an SEC team. Your team is about to go through a few lean years and you still keep your chest out and your fingers typing.
