It’s the PGA! It’s Tiger! It’s scarred greens!

Welcome to my neighborhood, Johns Creek. I live 15 minutes from the Atlantic Athletic Club, which is hosting this year’s PGA, and I’m kinda liking this short commute. It’s for that reason that I’m going to start a campaign to move the Masters here.
First, the big news: Please don’t blame my little town, but the 93rd PGA Championship is going straight to hell. The grounds crew at the AAC damaged the 14th and 17th greens during their maintenance and manicuring on Wednesday night.
This is what professional golf officials would officially refer to as bad timing.
According to the PGA, the damage is “believed to be the result of a significant rise in the dew point at 7 p.m., which caused the brushes on the mowers on those greens to stick in the grass and damage the turf.”
The danger of the Johns Creek dew points are well known around the world. This is why I never use brushes on my mower.
As a result, the 14th and 17th greens have ugly scrapes on them. The greens are treated as ground under repair, so a player will get relief if the ball lands in the damaged area. However, the AAC will have to deal with a $50 fine from the neighborhood association.
That’s it for now. I’m heading out to catch up with Tiger Woods, who birdied his first hole (the 10th). According to my golf tutor, Steve Hummer, that puts him on a pace of 72-under, which would be a course record.

Stinky Wintes is a member there and he won’t like the greens being messed up. No pressure on the AAC. The world is watching and they mutilate the greens. Might as well have some tee shirt stands on the tee box. If they was using John Deere equipment they wouldn’t have this problem. Take it from us, nothing runs like a Deere. Concerning Tiger Woods, it is amazing how a golf game can suffer when you quit your favorite prescription (or enhancement) drugs. It is not coincidence that Tiger went from unbeatable to unremarkable following his drug rehab, all the while blaming his lousy golf game on his hip, knee, big toe, caddie, etc. The last I checked, an ailing knee doesn’t make you miss easy putts. Even as healthy as he claims to be, Tiger is downright pedestrian right now in his present mindset. He needs a new drug.

Tiger finishes at 7 over 77. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. One would think the press will now focus on the golf tournament and the players who have a chance to win, but somehow I doubt it. I think many of them have Battered Reporter syndrome, where the nastier and more dismissive somebody is to the press, the more fascinated with him they are and the more they write about him.

Steve Stricker needs one more birdie to tie the low score in major championship history with a 62. Unfortunately Stricker is a nice guy, well liked by everybody, doesn’t pound his club into the ground and swear when he misses a shot or stiff the press when he shoots a bad round as Tiger just did. Alright this needs to be said. It is an abomination the way tiger is being over-reported by the media. The golf channel ought to be ashamed of itself, with all the great stories it is passing up in order to give us hours and hours of nothing but tiger woods. And you can say, well, you know, tiger brings people out, we have to report what people care about. No. You’re open pulling for tiger to do well because that makes you more money. Isn’t it the responsibility of the media to be un-biased?

Jeff, the Klansman who keeps putting an extra g in Tiger under various handles should be banned.
Also, McIlroy made one of the dumbest decisions I’ve ever seen to try to hit a full shot with a tree root just in front of his ball and right at the point of where his club would hit the ground. The announcers said it, it was obvious looking at it on the TV coverage that he was risking injury. What made it even dumber was that his odds of putting the shot on the green were next to nothing and it was the 3rd hole of a 72 hole tournament. If it’s going to take 2 shots anyway, chip it out to the fairway. That one is on his caddy. If I’d been caddying for him, there would have been a heated discussion before he tried to play that shot, particularly since McIlroy is only 22 years old. He’s about to withdraw.

No, everything isn’t about race with me but I’m a white guy who grew up in the deep south during the 60’s and 70’s and understand the code. You post every message under a different handle and your first reference to “Tigger” was right after talking about his fans from “the hood”. But I’m sure you meant nothing racial, you were referring to a cartoon character. Looks like McIlroy was cleared by an on course doctor and is going to be able to finish his round. Lucky that an incredibly dumb decision may not may not hurt him. I doubt he’ll ever try one like that again.

Tiger and Stevie Williams should engage in a pay-per-view fight with boxing gloves and 12 rounds of action. I know Williams wants to remove tigers stripes and tiger I know wants to punch stevie’s lights out. The two “larger than life” gladiators absolutely HATE EACH OTHER. Hopefully the bout will take place at Cesaers Palace in the next couple of months.
