It’s ‘Football or Die,’ starring Tony Gonzalez (but not NFL)

So what would happened if somebody turned this into a football spoof? Check it out.

So what would happened if somebody turned this into a football spoof? Check it out.

Back from a couple of weeks off.  The suits at the NFL and NBA have chosen not to extend the same courtesy and remain locked out. But props to the website “Funny or Die” for trying to keep us entertained during this millionaire’s and billionaire’s warfare.

In a well-thought out and and far better production than the NFL’s collective bargaining talks, “Funny or Die” has produced a three-minute, satirical video, “Field of Dreams 2.”

It’s basically an NFL lockout/Reader’s Digest version of the baseball fantasy movie. Actor Taylor Lautner is in the Ray Kinsella/Kevin Costner role, and the Falcons’ own Tony Gonzalez is in the “Shoeless” Joe Jackson/Ray Liotta role (at least in that Gonzalez is the first locked out football player to appear on Lautner’s just-plowed cornfield).

It’s actually pretty entertaining. The funniest scenes involve Ray Lewis (playing Ray Lewis) and Dennis Haysbert, who fills the Terence Mann/James Earl Jones part, except that he’s trying to explain CBA talks to a bored audience. Costner and Liotta also have cameo roles.

Take a look.

The best news for Falcons fans: It looks like Gonzalez is staying in shape. Also, at the end of the video, the lockout ends and normalcy returns.

Come on, Jeff. Great to have you back but Big Brother(ajc, jic) wouldn’t let you have the rest of the week. Oh, you just comin back for the Phillies series, huh? Welcome back to all of us losers who have had only strikes (of the lockout kind) and Braves bb. But, hey . . . if I was the Phillies, I would be looking a little bit over my shoulder. Cause there is at lease one team in NL that ain’t scared. And they coming to town this week. So welcome back, Jeff. Signed Roger Clemens(is it one m or two? IKD)

Also, I know its not official, but is Bradley on vacation too? Saw some blog about local temperature of something- don’t tell anyone but I did read it. But other than that, somebody needs to wake him up-or not. We all have a little Randy Moss in us- we all go to take a play or two off- I have done it!

We was never so glad to see somebody back at work! Welcome back, Jeff! There is much to be discussed about sore knees and sitting out games and then going to the All Star game instead of resting the knee or maybe getting it fixed. Then, we can discuss somebody maybe going to the Phillies to play right field. Or maybe, we should talk about somebody finally getting started if they can hit in one more game and make it back-to-back. We was always a baseball blogger even when it wasn’t baseball season. We plan to get a deer bobblehead on Chipper Jones Bobblehead Night.

Jeff: Please write something (anything) about UGA football
asap. No matter how many blogs Chip Towers, Bill King and MB write, the UGA fans can`t get enough to complain, vent
and worry about. From their woes about the OL to CMR`s poor coaching and on and on, these poor people need more prompting to get on with their endless ranting.

Kind of quiet up here. The Big Guy shook his head a couple times when he saw Schultz doing all that drinking. Anyway, let’s get back to the Dawgs. Everybody knows the Braves can’t catch the Phillies anyway.

JS, glad you are back. Missed your poignant remarks regarding the wide world of sports. If this column is any indication of what a time of refreshment (I trust there was some refreshment served during the 2 weeks), then the Count must really be ready. Can’t wait until next Tuesday for his take on those things in the world that only he understands.

Hey Jeff when can we expect some blogs about the Franchise qb?

As you know he is now just 4 years from age 30.

I’m curious about what you feel is a fair expectation for him this season?

What would be a failure?

[...] In the end, what we’re likely going to be left with are rushed signings, several pulled hamstrings early in training camp and a slightly dinged NFL brand. [...]
