Back from a couple of weeks off. The suits at the NFL and NBA have chosen not to extend the same courtesy and remain locked out. But props to the website “Funny or Die” for trying to keep us entertained during this millionaire’s and billionaire’s warfare.
In a well-thought out and and far better production than the NFL’s collective bargaining talks, “Funny or Die” has produced a three-minute, satirical video, “Field of Dreams 2.”
It’s basically an NFL lockout/Reader’s Digest version of the baseball fantasy movie. Actor Taylor Lautner is in the Ray Kinsella/Kevin Costner role, and the Falcons’ own Tony Gonzalez is in the “Shoeless” Joe Jackson/Ray Liotta role (at least in that Gonzalez is the first locked out football player to appear on Lautner’s just-plowed cornfield).
It’s actually pretty entertaining. The funniest scenes involve Ray Lewis (playing Ray Lewis) and Dennis Haysbert, who fills the Terence Mann/James Earl Jones part, except that he’s trying to explain CBA talks to a bored audience. Costner and Liotta also have cameo roles.
Take a look.
The best news for Falcons fans: It looks like Gonzalez is staying in shape. Also, at the end of the video, the lockout ends and normalcy returns.
