Will Muschamp comes back to Georgia — as a Gator

Will Muschamp is a Gator now (the Cujo eyes, caused by a flash, notwithstanding).

Will Muschamp may have barked as a Bulldog but he's all Gator now as the Florida coach.

A young, pretty girl sitting near the front of the room had a question for the Florida coach.

“Coach, I’m getting married soon and he’s a Georgia fan and …”

“That’s not my fault,” Will Muschamp said, playing to the crowd.

“My wedding is on the same day as the Florida-Georgia game,” she continued. “I was wondering: Can you guarantee Florida will win?”

Muschamp, the native of Rome, a long-time Georgia resident and former Bulldogs safety, smiled.

“I certainly can,” he said (and then he turned in my direction and alerted the crowd that this pronouncement almost certainly would be used in the local newspaper).

This should end any lingering debate about whether Will Muschamp has divided loyalties.

The annual meeting of the Atlanta Gator Club was held Thursday night. Atlantic Station was crawling with reptiles. More than 360 Florida fans crammed into a hotel ballroom, the largest turnout in years, to greet their new leader.

The Atlanta Gator Club was thoroughly entertained by their new coach.

Muschamp was in Georgia, but the Atlanta Gator Club would protect him.

This was the safe room for Muschamp. But outside the walls, he’s same guy who was branded “traitor” or “Benedict Arnold” by some hard-line Bulldogs fans who believe once you’ve worn the “G” on your helmet, any career movement – especially to the mother of SEC rivals – is borderline sacrilegious. (Or over the border.)

“I’m loyal to who signs my checks,” Muschamp said earlier. “All of that other stuff, I don’t get into. In our

You might've thought you were lost walking in Atlantic Station.

You might've thought you were lost walking in Atlantic Station.

profession you’re loyal to the people you work for. I’ll do the best job I can for the Gator nation.”

Go easy, folks. The man’s gotta earn a living, you know.

It may have been a shock in Athens when Muschamp, the official coach-in-waiting at Texas for Mack Brown and a possible unofficial coach-in-waiting for Georgia, was tabbed as Urban Meyer’s replacement at Florida.

But it shouldn’t have been. Yes, he lived in Rome up until age 5, and then he returned before his ninth-grade year. But during that period in between, orange blood ran through blue veins. He walked to Gators games as a kid. He watched Wilber Marshall. Even when he went to high school in Rome, he was a Florida fan.

Fact is, Muschamp might never have stepped foot on the Georgia campus if he hadn’t broken his leg while playing in high school.

“All of the big schools backed off,” he said.

His choices: Enroll at West Point or try to walk-on at Florida or Georgia.

“My dad was a school teacher,” he said. “The [cost of] in-state education was a factor.”

So if he didn’t break his leg or his father was a surgeon, he would’ve attended Florida?

“Hah — I’d rather not play what-if,” he said.

Muschamp waited 15 years for a head coaching job. So far, he wears it well.

The fact he was one of the nation’s best defensive coaches at Texas, LSU and Auburn doesn’t guarantee success. Even he acknowledges that he’s in a honeymoon period with Gators fans. (“Everybody has been great. But we haven’t played a game yet.”).

But if he doesn’t succeed, it won’t be for a lack of confidence. He brought in Charlie Weis to run his offense. Most new head coaches would balk at such a move, believing the former Notre Dame coach and New England and Kansas City offensive coordinator might be scheming behind his back for the top job.

“I have confidence in myself. I want the people I hire to have tremendous confidence in themselves,” he said.

Last month, Muschamp kicked his best player, cornerback Janoris Jenkins, off the team after his third arrest (and second in three months for marijuana). It was a stunning move at a program that had its share of legal issues between SEC and BCS championships under Meyer.

“I didn’t look at it as sending a message early,” Muschamp said. “I look at everything as an isolated situation. Each player will have to [act] right.”

He has learning the hard way of the demands of being a head coach  and fielding endless advice from fans (“My email works, I can tell you that.”). But this feels like Utopia.

After the questions, he planned on flying back to Austin, Texas. His family hasn’t moved yet and his 5-year-old is graduating from kindergarten Friday. Then it will be back to Gainesville.

“As coaches, we move around so much,” he said. “Home is where the house is.”

That’s not in Georgia anymore.

Great speaker. Very impressive and was much more entertaining than Urban was. What was more hilarious was the not one, but two direct insults to UGA. FROM A DOG!

UGA fans keep dreaming. You couldn’t beat us when we had our worst team in a decade. What makes you think you are going to beat us now without your best offensive weapon, a left tackle with chronic knee issues, and your 3 of your top 4 leading tacklers. I would be more worried about beating the chickens and the Ol’ Ball Coach if I were you…

October 29 the Gators will make it four in a row and 19 out of 22 against the Pups. And it will be so much sweeter knowing that our coach turned his back on you to do it. GO GATORS

Finally, UF has hired the dolt to turn the Cocktail Party back to the way it’s supposed to be-with the Dawgs winning on a nearly annual basis. We have waited a long, long time for this, and Jeremy Foley has finally delivered.

Everyone thought Zook would be it, but he was too incompetent to stick around, and he carried Spurrier’s luck. Karma is a mofo, and the Dawgs have been very patient, but now the time has come. Another point for the DAWG Fans to consider is that Muschamp could be the head coach at UGA had Richt been relieved a year earlier and UGA offered the job to Muschamp. That would have made no difference to the Gator Nation, but now he is at UF and he has our backing. The FL-GA Game has now taken on another dimension, and Muschamp is going to take a lot of heat from either side no matter who wins. He is a rookie head coach, but so was Richet when he went from FSU to UGA.

Mike, I believe had UGA dismissed Richt, the last thing they would do is hire another co-ordinator with no HC experience. That’s an expensive learning curve to pay for. The issue over the past couple of years don’t come from a lack of ability, but it’s purely a case of inexperience dealing with all the situations a HC is going to face over his career. Muschamp will go through the same thing. Pure energy (and he is an excellent football coach) will carry him for a while, but eventually he will face a set of circumstances that he is going to have to figure out over time. UGA would have gone the route of Alabama and let somebody else pay for all that.

My personal opinion is that Richt isn’t going anywhere, but IF we were going to hire a guy, a Mark Richt “type” name would be what they would be looking at. (obviously he would not want 2010 to be the last thing on his resume’, although guys have been hired with much worse). But a guy that somebody else already paid the price to educate. Folks tend to forget Richt and some others are just now getting to the point in his career that some of the desirable coaches around the league started really getting it down.

One sure thing is that the FL-GA Game has taken on a new dimension which will be intriguing for the fans on both sides. Urban Meyer simply burned himself out at an early stage. From the first I’ve questioned if a rah-rah, cliche-riddled, caricature of a football coach would be accepted at UF…this presentation has only renewed that questioning. Will is something of a throw-back who’s already allowed his bulldog (lower-case ‘b’) mouth to get ahead of whatever passes for his brain.

Fact is, Florida has, at least, as many unanswered questions going into this season as Georgia, and I doubt if bombast is gonna satisfy the ‘gator-nation’ when they start finding out that the answer to too many of those questions is ‘no’. A wiser man would have been able to respond to the young lady’s question about the next G-F game and kept the crowd enthusiastic about him and his approach, but he chose to ‘big-dog’ it cause that’s what he thinks works. Tell us Will, how well did that work last season at Texas?…and it remains to be seen if the ‘fat-boy’, QB-coach/O-coordinator, has still got it. Or if he ever had it for college-level athletes?

Mark it down, we’re gonna whip Florida more times than they’ll whip us while Muschump is there…then where will he go?…not to Athens, you can bet on that. And yes, I did say Muschump, cause that’s what the websites will be calling him before the season’s out if I know my gator-friends if they slip a little.

You didn’t have to throw Georgia ‘under-the-bus’, as they say, in order to appease this crowd…you could have played it with a degree of circumspection and style….buuutttt noooooo….you had to do it this way. So be it. By the way Will, have any of your black ball-players ever asked you about the teachings, practices and oaths of the Kappa Alpha Order?

I’m just wondering what is the 1,2,3 point basis for you basically predicting that 6 teams will beat Georgia this year.

[...] Ken Campbell of The Hockey News has posted a blog outlining the exact thing I just addressed. Muschamp will continue the domination over UGA, and his move to Florida was a major slap in the face for UGA football. UGA could not land their own folks, including Kirby Smart or Muschamp, which confirms that UGA program is tanked.

After the last two seasons, it’s hard to look at the schedule and predict anything rosey. I never thought I’d see the day when Mark Richt would lose 4 games in a row, or lose to the likes of Colorado and UCF.

And I never, ever thought a Mark Richt offense would have trouble scoring TDs, or would have a half-dozen 3-and-outs in one game.

But like DIL writes, if the Dawgs D is sound, it can make up for a lot of bad offense. I’ll settle for a 6-3 win. Any day.

Last year is done. Grantham has his scheme in place with better players more suited for the system. Richt is clearly on the hot seat.

10-2 is possible but highly unlikely and gets him an extension
9-3 with a win over Florida keeps him employed
Anything less gets him fired. IMO

The SEC East is mediocre and UGA can win it just like UT,UF or SC can.

To say any different only sounds like a idiot hater who knows nothing about college football. I got mad over the end of last year. Tech game and UCF. Richt gets another year in my book because we have on more under his watch than under anyone else’s.

Perfect world he goes 9-3 or 10-2, wins the East loses the SECCG, wins the bowl and goes 10-4 or 11-3. 2012 then becomes a year when something can really be done in a big way.

If he craps his pants, we get a new coaching staff in 2012 and we are 2 or 3 years away from competing for a title.

We wouldn’t want some middle of the road, political answer…it’s a booster meeting, for crying out loud. It’s not like he made that big of a deal about the Georgia game. Lighten up, fellas. “who gets married on GA-FL weekend to a Gator” Perhaps this one UGA fan has the same ability that us Gators do, the ability to seperate football from REAL LIFE. If college affiliation matters so much to you in who you marry no wonder so many of you end up marrying relatives. The wedding is one of the most important days of their life, it is not in the same universe as a freaking football game. It reminds me in 2007 when UGA was #1 a fan emailed in to ESPN College Football Live and seriously, i stress, seriously, asked since UGA was picked to win the NC and the due date for his FIRST child was the same day as the game would it be outrageous to miss the birth of his child to attend the game. Get some freaking perspective, UGA fans are absolutely crazy. They are like the kids that play GTA then shoot someone, learn to seperate hobbies from reality!

buckeye,

Ohio State got humiliated/destroyed/beatdown/abused by florida in 2006. It was the beginning of the SEC run of national titles and opened the door for the perception, right or wrong, that the SEC champ ALWAYS deserves to be in the BCS title game. Your team’s sorry performance paved the way for the 1st 2 loss BCS champion.

We lost to florida in 2006 21-14 and were right in the game with a true freshman QB until a late fumble recovery for a TD cost us momentum. Ohio State got destroyed. Ohio state would have gone 7-5 in the SEC that year including losing to us.

We as SEC fans want to thank The Ohio State University for helping to create the current perception that exists and that always reults in the SEC champion playing for the national title.

Many of you are commenting on Kirbyt Smart and let me share some factual information with you…

Kirby Smart was actually set to take the defensive coordiantor job 2 years ago. Bobo had talked him into the lateral move. However, one request Kirby had was that the s&c coach at that time had to go. Kirby felt like UGA’s program was WAY behind others and paled in comparison to Alabama. When CMR said there would be no change at S&C then Kirby decided to stay at Bama. Kirby firmly believes he will be the next head coach at UGA.

Muschamp is a better coach than Richt. He gets great assistance because he is a smart guy and his assistance are smart. Jury is still out but his worries in the SEC are Alabama, LSU, South Carolina, Arkansas, Auburn, maybe Miss State, maybe Tenn. all but maybe Tenn have better coaching than Georgia which is the name of the game now in this parity they call college football This guy should have been coaching at Georgia and they will regret not hiring him. Next year they will lose Smart to someone probably in the SEC and back up one more position. My bet is that Smart ends up at Mississippi.

If GM hires Kirby as the next head coach at UGA, he is not nearly as smart as I’ve given him credit for.

The next coach at UGA, if Richt craps his pants this year, needs to be a proven head coach at the D-1 level. Not some DC who has never had his balls on the line as the head man.

Read the below and it appears that the car deals for OSU are being questioned by another journalist, who I think is playing “Devil advocate”, for the NCAA. NP Joey, I wasn’t trying to paint you as piling on Richt. I just wasn’t on the same page. You were specifically talking this year, and right, Muschamp is going to beat a lot of somebodies his first and next year with Zero experience.

I was, and for the most will always do, talking about the bigger picture. I’d rather USE Richt’s experience now, than throw it away and start that process over. (by hiring an untested co-ordinator). One thing I am convinced of, is that whatever the issues were last year, there was some lesson Richt learned from it. I am equally convinced that he is taking steps, as he sees it anyway, to correct that. Now, if he identified them correctly, or made the right right moves to counteract…..we’ll see. His history has certainly been that when he identifies a need, it has been addresssed. Just needs to stop letting a new one surface the next year. But without question, he is wiser from it, just like the freakish injuries a few years back and what seems like the over-correction the next year was a lesson. Somebody is going to benifit from that expereince going forward. Us right now, maybe somebody else in the future. Personally I don’t understand this completely illogical discussion of stepping right back into the same thing. (with all the talk of hiring somebody like Smart, etc.) Folks seem WAY too hung up on the name of the coach. Smart will be a good HC I assume, but I’d rather he had a smaller school HC, perhaps a year in he league, before he ran our program. Same for Mushchamp. I think that was a risky hire. POSITIVE that he is not going to step in and have 10-15 perfectly wonderful, never down, years at UF.

Let me enlighten you and the rest of your jean short wearing fans, we still have more wins against y’all than you do against us, we still have more SEC titles than you do so until that changes SIT AND SPIN!! Not once did the lose by getting RIPPED like every other team in the nation that had a loss or two AND that was in the title hunt.

LSU lost 2 THREE-OVERTIME GAMES to SEC teams! They were as solid a team as there was and proved it against the Buckeyes. I’m not an LSU fan, but I predicted that we’d see our first 2-loss BCS National Champion. And we did!

Valdosta Dawg – since you’re in the mood for history, Florida won the 1950’s (6-4) and the 1960’s (6-3-1) over Georgia. So, to say that Florida “hardly ever” beat Georgia before Spurrier is wrong. Florida holds a 10 game lead (35-25-1) over the past 6 decades. It won’t be long before we even the series.

ga gator, I agree with you, however, Brantly is not your guy at QB. He will be replaced by mid season. I think his confidence is shot. Weiss’s offense is complex and will take more than a half year to fully grasp it. Florida will find a top notch QB to run that offense. they will have to depend on many of their athletes to win the games this year. They will still be tough.

I’m not feeling it for my dawgs this year. Too many questions on both sides of the ball. If we can pull off 9 wins I would be satisfied. To me that stinks because anything less than winning the SEC is not acceptable with the big time SEC programs. First 2 games will tell us everything.

He produced two highly rated QB’s out of ND (Quinn and Clausen) and Tom Brady was a 6th round pick coming out of college and guess who his college QB coach was? Scott Loefler who was Brantleys after Dan Mullen left. Not predicting greatness for Brantley but all he has to do is manage it with the athletes he has around him. Next year’s QB will most likely be Jeff Driskell who was the top rated QB this year. I must say though that this is all fun. Cannot wait until Sept!!

Love it! All this lip service from a coach who does not have a QB, a RB, and a secondary looking for some answers. Oh yeah, don’t forget a new 3-4 system being installed, a new OC, a new DC, or was that last year? Oh, and get this, the games in the month of October????

Alabama
@LSU (night game)
Auburn
Georgia

Okay, Gatahs, you are going to survive that month and then just whip those Dawgs come the last Saturday of October? Funny stuff, that is for sure.

I don’t know who wins, but after Alabama destroys you, and LSU kicks you to the curb, and Auburn beats you while you are already knocked out, what are you going to have left for UGA? Nothing. 0-4 in October. Go Dawgs!!!!

Hey, even Dawgs can dream!!!! Smile folks, it’s Friday!!! Cheers!!!

Muschy and Pudgy will be interesting to watch this year–that is for sure.

Know this dawg fans…it will take much more than a single win to break the mental problem we have with Florida. Spurrier hated us and made sure his teams crushed us every year. It feels like our spirit is broken against the Gators. Richt might coach himsef off of the hot seat this year but I do not believe that he has the killer instinct neccesary to break Florida’s spirit like Spurrier did ours. For a fleeting moment a few years ago I thought he did…but Meyer gave it back to us and then some.

Instead of hanging a quote of Muschamp garaunteeing a victory on the bulliten board, he needs to hang one that says simply 0-0. Because 0-0 is the record that this team has against UF: 0 wins and 0 losses. It doesn’t matter what every team before this one did against Florida…what matters is what THIS team does against Florida.

Do you think your odds of flipping coin on heads change at all because the previous 20 tosses landed on tails? No it doesn’t. Each game is entirely independant of all those previous. THat is the lesson…not let’s get him for talking trash. That does not work…because everybody that can talk talks better trash than Richt.

I for one hope he gets the job done this year…uhh in red helmets and silver britches that is.

I guarantee you Murray will never beat a winning team.

So, Muschamp is right, Richt couldn’t beat Florida in a down year in 2010. richt’s 2-9 vs. ranked teams since 2009, pretty safe to say, Richt’s good for 1 win a year against a good team, and 80% chance, it won’t be Florida, Richt’s only 2-8 vs. Florida.

Uughh...

May 20th, 2011
8:03 pm

I would also hope that Richt teaches the guys that you change 0-0 to 1-0 a single assignment at a time for 60 minutes. You get your job done on every play…and we will win. If you miss an assignment, the next play is a new one and a new opportunity to do it right. You eat an elephant one bite at a time. That is the way they need to approach this to break the hex.

Now if you do that…the coaches have to believe it too. And that means coaches (yes I am talking to you Bobo) can’t give up on an entire drive after a sack (you only get so many drives after all). The coaches also have to believe that we CAN get it back…and that you CAN get a few inches on 4th down in an admittedly crappy bowl game. Believing in each other has as much to do with the players believing in each other as it does the coaches believing in the players. If the coaches give up on a series…the players will give up on the game. We have seen this already.

Each game is a new chance for victory–each play is a new opportunity to succeed–just as long as the coaches believe it too!

Guaranteeing wins in the SEC against a rival team when you yourself have a horrible team is a bad idea. Neither one of them have an honest shot at an SEC championship, this we know but when you start guaranteeing wins over a team that is just as good as your team(or should we say just as bad) is a product of a first time head coach trying a little too hard to gain respect. Respect has to be earned on the field not in meetings with the media and when you do that against a team that hates you and can beat you, is setting yourself up for a lot of criticism.

Let’s see. Now we are supposed to have a midget QB, and slow out of shape D linemen. Funny how fans from other schools can talk BS all they want and think it makes it true. We will see who is talking slow and out of shape, when the RB’s, try to run through him. Or perhaps he will be introduced to the LB’s and they can convince the RB, that he might want to stay away from them as well. Come on around end and meet them, RB’s.
And talking about QB. You have a better one do you? He isn’t in Florida and he sure isn’t in SC. If the O line jells and does their job, he will introduce himself to your team, and light you up. Seems there are, with few exceptions, a lot of new QB’s in the SEC this year. Let’s see how they look at the end of the year.
Before you fans of other teams start making comments about other teams players, let’s let it be decided on the only place that it matters, and that is on the field.

Does anybody know of any good places to go, where you can actually discuss college football in a reasonable way? It seems like all of the AJC blogs, for the most part are just big PI&&ing contests among fans of different schools, and you can’t even stay on topic. It would be nice to be able to discuss football, without all this crap on these blogs. We don’t need a new coach and we will show that in the coming years. CMR is just fine. We don’t care about the last 20 years, we care about the next 20. The piece we needed to address was AD and we have done that. Now we will see the results.

Don’t worry thought – when we start kicking your ass – we will not let you forget like you have reminded us for the last 20 years. To be honest I was very concerned about Coach Muschamp’s hire in regards to our rivalry games i.e. UGA and FSU. This concern comes from Will being both a former Bulldog player and having a close relationship with Jimbo Fisher of FSU which includes owning a beach house. But, these comments and confidence in regards to having UF success for years to come has helped me worry less.

P.S. I can tell you one thing the FL/UGA games have now become a greater amount of both stress and anticipation. STRESS for DAWGS and Anticipation for US GATORS. GATOR NATION will never forget about the GATOR STOMP and Coach Muschamp will Lead us to 4 in a ROW. GO GATORS!!!

Florida alumni think of Georgia as Georgia alumni think of Vanderbilt. Actually, Florida has beat UGA more in the past twenty years than UGA has beat Vanderbilt.

UGA has a really ignorant and stupid fan base which has some sort of fetish with the incompetent Markt Wrecked, da Preacha Man, aka Tan Man. As long as they remain in the gutter inebriated on the Koolaid, the Gators will continue to push the dogs’ noses into the stink.

It’s like Corey Smith said. The drunk UGA fan base thinks that every year “the dogs can take it all the way.” Well, with incompetent coaching and a culture of sorriness, this is a hallucination. UGA will have a losing season this year in spite of the easiest schedule in 100 years. The koolaid kids, though, will continue to talk about the incompetent coach as a “good Christian man.” What does that have to do with it? If he were, he would return the millions in unearned income he has taken back to the university.

Most successful programs hire great coach’s desciples. Dooley was from Auburn and played for and coached under Shug Jordan and he was hired by Joel Eaves, who was a Auburn man.

Frank Broyles won the NC in the 60s and he was a Bobby Dodd GT boy from Decatur.

Daryl Royal and other greats came from understudying great coaches. Spurrier understudied that coach in SF and honed his trade under him and in the old WFL.

UGA’s own CMR trained under Bowdon and in the 90s, Alabama’s Coach Gene Stallings played for the Bear at A&M and he too won the NC for Bama.
ULtra successful Clemson Coach ……….. 80s?? played for the Bear and coached at Clemson and at Arkansas.

Billy Curry played for Dodd and later honed his future craft under Vince Lombardi.

It goes on and on and on in coaching. The Florida- Will Muschamp thing is natural …………….not unnatural.

Donnan assist. coached under Oklahoma’s Barry Switzer and with Jimmy Johnson and Coach Lewis of UGA AND GT coaching fame. It goes on and on.

Muschamp has a job to do. I just want him to fail often vs UGA.

UGA is fourth only behind “punk loser” schools …………. Alabama, the REAL USC and PN. State in number of ALL TIME bowl wins. This honor has been GREATLY expanded under Coach Mark Richt.

Folks ………….. you can hate UGA ………………but do exhibit some intellect. THIS WINNING BOWL RECORD is unique to the above 4 schools. Not Oklahoma, not Tennessee, not Texas, not Michigan, not Ohio State, not Wisconsin, not FLORIDA, not Auburn, not LSU are in the group.

WINNING ALL TIME BOWL SCHOOLS …………… Alabama, USC, PN State and UGA.

Have the last two UGA years been great? Heck no. TRADITION is what college is all about however, and unless you are an alumnus, you can only side up to the latest big time program. Hell, anybody can do that.

I love my DAWGS all the time …………….like UGA is all time in the top 4 of BOWL WINNERS.

Florida 5th generation born but BULLDOG schooled

Dog alumnus here. Jax born and entire paternal side family born there since the late 1600-1700s. Yep, long time Florida family from Arcadia, Boca, Bradenton, Jax, Pensacola, Sarasota. Sadly, most of my family are Gators. Many are older than I and so they know like I do …………… THE REAL STORY about U of F and UGA.

Here it is ………………… UGA STILL OWNS FLORIDA ALL TIME and tradition is what college is all about. Tradition does not stop with one incoming coach or go out with another. GEORGIA OWNS FLORIDA ALL TIME> you heard it from a legit Floridian.

UGA reels off say two wins over the next three games ……………..Florida will go right back to their historical position …………… feet up.

UGA man, class of 71 & 73

5th Generation: that’s not news. It’s been discussed at length by other posters. Georgia fans point out that UGA holds the all times series by 6 games. Florida fans have pointed out that Florida leads by 10 games over the past 60 years (Florida won the 50’s and 60’s, UGA won the 70’s and 80’s, Florida won the 90’s and 00’s). I guess the question is whether the 1930’s and 40’s are more relevant than the last 20 years in predicting the future of the series.

To anyone born in 1990, the UGA record verss Florida since 1990:

3 wins, 17 losses

Record under mark Richt:
2 wins, 8 losses

It’s been Florida domination for decades.

This article is great news. It was so easy to hate Meyer and I was worried Muschamp would be too decent to despise which now does not appear to be a problem. I will say atleast he kicked the thug of the team which Meyer could never do. Go Dawgs!

One joke at a booster gathering and you now “despise” a former Georgia player? I’ve never seen a more fair-weather, prissy fan base.

Mutts fair weather fans…did you not hear the bitchin and moaning in Gator Nation last year?

Why Florida will beat Georgia?
1- Richt only scores 16 against winning teams, runs up score against losing teams to average 42 a game, to make his inept offensive schemes look better. But he’s 10th in SEC in scoring against winning teams
2- Richt has a 2 & 8 record against Florida, regrdless of the opposing coach, Richt chokes in big games
3- Murray chokes in big games, 4 to’s against Florida, 3 to’s in the Bowl game
4- Ealey transfered and took his 11 td’s to Oklahoma
5- Offensive line coach and LB coach took their talents elsewhere
6- UGA is 10th in rushing in SEC
7- Richt is 2-9 vs. ranked teams since 2009

uga is 3 & 17 against Fla in last 20 games.

90% chance Muschamp wins, 10% chance UGA wins.

Richt is 2 & 8 against Fla.

20% chance Richt wins, 80% chance Muschamp wins.

Richt is 2-9 against ranked teams last 2 seasons.
85% chance Muschamp wins, 15% chance Richt wins. Anyway you want to look at, there’s a 80-90% chance Muschamp wins, and a 10-20% chance Richt wins.

I understand complaining about a poorly coached team. I have no issues with UGA fans complaining about Richt’s performance recently. I don’t understand trashing a former player because he takes the Gator job.

Murray got 5 td’s all season against ranked teams.

19 of Murray’s 24 td’s were bogus, came against unranekd teams like louisiana Lafayette and Idaho State and Vanderbilt.

Murray also only threw 4 of his 24 td’s in the 4th quarter.

Choke.

All 6 of UGA’s wins in 2010 came against teams with losing records.

Lost to every winning team.

Florida fans, college football was played before 1990. Though you choose to forget that.

Florida has won 19 out of 22 yet still trails Georgia in the overall series. So the those saying “UF>UGA” obviously failed math.

Furthermore, even after 19 out of 22 the chip on Florida’s shoulder is enormous. It’s what Alabama refers to as “little brother syndrome” with Auburn.

You can have Muschamp, and the idiot sidewalk fans calling him “traitor” can just move along.

I also would like to know how Muschamp is a better coach than Richt? Care to quantify that? When was the last time a Georgia player was arrested for shooting an AK-47 at an impound lot owner? The Florida sidewalk fans don’t even know what they’re talking about.

Turk,

Brush up on your American History. Benedict Arnold was also a citizen of the united States, and when he sided with the enemy, I think his popularity went down pretty fast. The Mush man is in the enemy camp now, get it?

You can’t blame Will or Derek for taking their respective coaching jobs. That is what coaches do. Coaches need to win to keep their jobs and while beating Georgia might add some job security, given their personal history with the Dawgs; deep down and I can’t imagine they’ll enjoy it and certainly not in the same way as beating Coach Visor at USC. In some ways, I find it amusing that Florida and Tennessee are both under the control of former Bulldogs.

Ah, I see. I thought this was just about an assistant coach earning a shot at a top head coaching job. I confused it with the normal functioning of the labor market, and I completely missed the obvious parallels to the Rosenbergs selling atomic secrets to the Soviets. Nevermind that Muschamp didn’t leave Georgia to coach at Florida, has never turned down an offer to be the head coach at Georgia and has never been promised the head coaching job at Georgia.

“never turned down an offer to be the head coach at Georgia and has never been promised the head coaching job at Georgia.”

Thank God, because he doesn’t deserve to even be associated with UGA. Who cares whether this idiot took a job at UGA. The fact that he continually trashes his alma mater since taking the Florida job, is why he’s a scum. He ever crosses my path, I’ll spit in his face and tell him what I think of him.

if muschamp wins big at florida, ga can offer him big money to come to UGa in a few years, but it will take saban / miles type money ($5 million plus). UGa can easily pay whatever it takes.

Since the operating revenue for Florida’s atheletic department ($117 million in 2009-10) dwarfs Georgia’s operating revenue ($90 million), I doubt that Georgia will be winning any bidding wars against the Gators.
