SEC’s get into ‘Smack Wear’ with BCS T-shirt (really?)

Georgia fans: Would you wear a T-shirt advertising BCS title by Auburn, Alabama, Florida and LSU?

Georgia fans: Would you wear a T-shirt that celebrates BCS titles by Auburn, Alabama, Florida and LSU?

Apparently, smack among college athletes now extends to conference officials — and the SEC just threw down the apparel gauntlet!

Fresh off Auburn’s BCS championship — which is the fifth straight national title for by an SEC school — the conference is selling T-shirts that read: “Southeastern Conference. 5 Football National Champions in a Row!”

Below that, the five BCS champions are listed: 2006 Florida, 2007 LSU, 2008 Florida, 2009 Alabama, 2010 Auburn.

This leads me to wonder if fans at Georgia and Tennessee — or South Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Kentucky and Vanderbilt — really want to spend $19.95 to celebrate championships by rival schools. Well, maybe Vanderbilt. They’re harmless.

The shirt’s description on the SEC Store website reads:  “No matter which powerhouse you cheer for on Saturdays, show the world that you represent the most unstoppable force in college football. … This in-your-face tee is a must-have for silencing the naysayers and letting the SEC’s hardware do the talking. Here’s to [at least] five more years of total domination!”

Coming next week: The new Mike Slive/G.I. Joe doll.

One more thing: If the NCAA should unearth some nugget months from now that indicts Cam Newton and retroactively declares him ineligible and the Tigers have to vacate the BCS title, will a new updated shirt be manufactured?

Hey, don’t scream at me, Auburn fans. Just asking.

I think it’s great that the conference my school plays in keeps winning the national championship, but with each passing year, as a brand new coach takes his team to the top, it becomes tiresome that it’s not my team.

David, wrong. No way I wear a shirt that has my rivals on it. Period.

Jeff, I think you might be on to something with the GI Joe doll thing. What about action figures for all the coaches? They can be like the new justice league or something.

Want to know what “really” is? “Really” is half the description of anyone who would actually wear this shirt…the rest of the description is “stupid”.

Coming from an alum/fan of an SEC school, this is possibly the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen.

If you are a fan of an SEC team other than Bama, Auburn, LSU and Florida and decide to wear this shirt… well, you know what you are.

From an Auburn fan, I’m not wearing anything that shows off an Alabama national title. Have to think Tide fans feel the same.

yES, sec DOMINANCE WILL CONINUE.

Auburn went 3-5 in the SEC in 2009, and was #23 pre-season.

Georgia went 3-5 in the SEC in 2010 and is pre-season #21.

I’d say Georgia has the best chance since the expectations are low, and they’re only a player or two away.

The bottom line is I’m glad my team plays in a conference that is the toughest in the nation. But that aside – Auburn, Bama and Florida can all suck it.

As soon as Georgia appears on that shirt, I will order it the first chance I get. It makes me sick to think how close UGA has come but never gotten there. And I think it will be a while before UGA is there.

The ONLY thing that is okay about other SEC winning BCS national titles besides the Bulldogs: If we get close and there’s a battle among 3 or 4 teams to get into the title game, then the SEC team will get the benefit of the doubt.

Ouch, How about putting UGA as the ACC Champions in 2009. Of course our runner up spot in Conference USA this year was a bit shameful. Or was it fourth place in Conf. USA? We will back next year. We have to its in our contract with the SEC.

Right now, the SEC is quite rightly viewed as the shiznit and if my team (don’t laugh) finds itself in a position to benefit from that perception I am not going to complain.

The T-shirt is pretty lame though.

No one loves the SEC and brags how they have the toughest conference more than the fans of SEC schools who cannot win the big one.

Alabama fans love Alabama and don’t live vicariously through the other SEC schools, and thus won’t get the shirt.

Auburn fans love Auburn and don’t live vicariously through the other SEC schools, and thus won’t get the shirt.

Florida fans love Florida and don’t live vicariously through the other SEC schools, and thus won’t get the shirt.

LSU fans love LSU and don’t live vicariously through the other SEC schools, and thus won’t get the shirt.

Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt fans have to live vicariously through the other SEC schools and therefore will want to wear the shirt, but because they cannot win the big one they will be too embarrassed to get the shirt.

I want to see one that has all the arrests of SEC players on it. But they probably won’t all fit on one shirt.

And how are they going to fix this when Auburn’s title is taken away because they are paying their player’s daddies?
