He did that fine in this game. The game-ending interception came on a stop and go route. The way the play is designed, the corner is supposed to fall for Vick’s pump fake, giving the receiver the separation he needs to catch the pass over the top. Tramon Williams didn’t fall for the pump fake and was in better position to catch the ensuing deep ball. Good read by Vick, better play by Tramon Williams.

If we can get pass the Packers we will be in Dallas in February. Seattle or Chicago in the NFC title game. The Bears have a good defense but I believe Cutler would cave under the pressure. He tends to do that. Their offense is not near as good as Green Bay and defense gets you only so far.

Definitely glad that the Saints and Vick are out of the playoffs. That being said, Smitty needs to make sure that the Falcons take a business like and SERIOUS approach to playing the Packers next Saturday night. We just barely got by them earlier this season. As has been proven this weekend the seedings in the playoffs mean nothing. The lowly 7 & 9 Seahawks put it to the Saints, the Ravens destroyed the Chiefs, and the 6th seeded Pack beat the 3rd seeded Eagles on their own home field.
I have followed the Falcons through a lot of bad years while growing up in ATL since 66. I remember the GRITS BLITZ of Jerry Glanville, the losing to Dallas in the 4th Qtr. after leading, and of course the loss to Elway and the Broncos in the 98 Super Bowl.
The Falcons need to practice hard. It is said that “How you practice is How you play”. We have to take the Pack seriously because they are an excellent team. Clay Matthews is more than likely going to be the Defensive Player of the Year. He IS a game changer. The Pack can be beat, we proved that earlier this year. We just have to play sound, smart, TURNOVER FREE football for 4 quarters.
Let’s go Falcons, beat the Packers and then get ready for the NFC Championship Game in the ATL. All the FANS need to show up EARLY and BE LOUD. RISE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me, what do Joe “Cool” Flacco and Mark Sanchez have in common? They both lost to Matt Ryan! And until Sanchez or Flacco wins the Super Bowl, they don’t stand on higher ground than any other quarterback in the league.

I actually caught myself pulling for #7 today because I thought it best to have the seahawks. I also forgot what a rollercoaster it was cheering for the guy. Made me darn glad we have #2. While it might have been nice to play the Seahawks, it’s even nicer that the two teams in the NFC that actually beat the Falcons this season have been knocked out. Vick in the GA Dome would have been a hot ticket, but I had no real desire to see him come in and win. Remember, the Eagles are the only team to thump the Falcons, and that was with Kolb. I think the weekend worked out perfectly for the Falcons.

I got my weekly Sports Illistrated, Peter King said Green Bay would beat the Eagles, beat the Falcons, beat the Bears and then lose in the Superbowl to the N.E. Patriots.
He picked Saints over Seahawks (oops)
He picked Colts over Jets (oops again)
He got todays picks right, but in his Preseason picks he had the Saints winning the South (Oops
), the Panthers in 2nd as a wildcard (big Oops) Falcons 3rd finishing at 9-7 (another big oops) and the Bucs to bring up the rear ( Peter King really screwed up the NFC South.) It just comes down to the fact, that Peter King plays the odds and uses history. Trouble is, the Falcons history is not being repeated. The days of non-back to back winning seasons are over. The years of losing seasons being the norm are over.
The Falcons are a team to be reckoned with now and years from now. The sportswriters will say the Packers will win on Saturday. Again, they will be wrong. They may favor the Falcons over the Bears or Seahawks, but in the Superbowl, no matter who the Falcons are facing, the Sportswriters will pick the AFC sponsor. Again, we will prove them wrong. Maybe next season, the sportswriters will give the Falcons some respect, but dont bet on it.

I lived in Jackson,GA from 84 -91 and had to take a lot of ribbing from my friends back then. The Saints/Falcons rivalry has always been great and most of the fans there are great. The Packers Falcons game was close last time before the Falcons secondary came on big. It will be different this time. The Packers have found a little bit of a run game but that rookie RB is going to get smacked a few times by William Moore. I don’t believe that Weatherspoon played much or at all in that first game. I don’t think that Aaron Rogers can run away from him.

Get ready for the Pack to splat the Dirty Birds – funny how the writer states the Packers were the lesser of all the evils. The Pack barely lost to NE at Foxboro with a backup QB then has gone on to beat the NYG, CHI and Philly. The Packers playoff started three weeks ago and they are ready to go, who have the Falcons beat lately and please don’t say the Panthers, they suck! Thanks Chad L. I was at the Dome for the Saints-Falcons a few weeks ago and when the WHO-DATS won it was with respect. Saints had several thousand fans as they always do.
most of the haters are only a few whatever the rivalry is. I think most of the fans in our section were planning on getting the Saints again anyway.

Our Packers have 15 players on injured reserve. We have to hold our breath here every game hoping the backups can step up. Yes, the Packers were a Super Bowl favorite before the injury plague struck. Now, the sports analysts see them as a juggernaut. I think, as with any sport, emotions are half of what is needed to win. I suspect the analysts say what they say because the Packers are playing with a lot of emotion. Packers barely beating the Bears? Emotions rule games between the Packers and the Bears. The two are the oldest rivalry in the NFL and to say we despise each other is an understatement! I have to say, having three rescue dogs myself, to see us beat the Eagles couldn’t have made me happier. The Packers and the Falcons will be a great match up. Win or lose, to see the Packers advance as far as they have given their injuries, I’ll be happy. In the end, the eye of the tiger will win!

Najeh, love those Hawks posts by the way. Like I said, Green bay is a good team, and I’m not taking anything away from them, but you have to take the New Orleans game and fit it into an applicable context. You’ve got a team whose defense was embarassed a week before. You’ve also got a defending world champion with a lot of pride who’d been beaten by this team in their house earlier this season. Lastly, they were still playing for the number one seed. They played that game like a champion with his back against the wall, but at no time did I ever get the feeling that they were dominating Atlanta. In fact, that game was Atlanta’s for the taking from the time they stepped on the field to the time they punted on their last possession fo the 4rth quarter. Granted, a lot of people saw that game and saw exactly what they wanted to see, but the truth of the matter is that you had to great teams going at each other and somebody was going to have to lose. And don’t think that New Orleans came out of that game unscathed. It’s no accident that they lost to Tampa and Seattle, two inferior teams, two weeks in a row after beating the Falcons. That’s the thing about the Falcons, even if you beat them, they’re going to leave you so busted up that you’re not going to be good for too much else thereafter.

The DogKilla took his family dog, a cocker spaniel his kids played with and loved, an animal who loved HIM and his family unconditionally, because that’s what dogs do… he took this poor animal and THREW IT INTO THE PIT to be used as a training dog for one of his pit bulls.

And do you know you know what the DogKilla did, while his children’s cocker spaniel was torn to shreds?

He laughed. He laughed with Q and the rest of his thugs. He laughed and got a “high” from the death of his family dog at the hands of one of his trained killing dogs.

Why did people buy tickets? He was exciting. More of the Brothers started using the tickets instead of trying to scalp them. Historically the Falcons biggest rivals were New Orleans and Washington. WHY? because of the black fan base and the fact black fans from those 2 cities had family in Atlanta. Vick became a face of the Falcons the black fans could back. Before Vick it was DEION, but he didn’t get the touches enough to score more. Deion was a D player mostly. It is a race thing not not totally. The fans needed to feel a part of the franchise and Vick brought that more than any other Falcon player ever. That was a great thing until he show he was not a reapectable HUMAN BEING. I really hope the Falcons can win it all this year and bring the WHOLE fanbase together behind a winner and not seperate us over a clash of cultural acceptances. There is NO I mean NO reason to celeberate VICK in Atlanta. I don’t wish him personal bad fortune, but I will never praise his athletic ability against the Falcons.

Falcons and Packers will be a great show down. Two up and coming quarterbacks square off in a playoff battle. I cannot predict an outcome, but what I can do is support my team! Hopefully the Falcons want it more. Also, I have to tip my hat to GreenBay fans, all the ones I have met are very respectful. I still shake my head in amusement in why people feed the trolls like choke, seen, or whoever… Also, why we must talk about Vick. He is not on the Falcons anymore last time I checked. Anyways, hopefully the team can come together and prove themselves. Respect is earned and even though the Falcons get no love from the media… I understand. But who cares? Sure, they had his back when it came to signing him to the contract. They certainly never had his back when it came to providing him with teammates and coaches who would have allowed his talent to develop. The Falcons hired a head coach whose unit had never ranked in the top 10, a defensive coordinator whose claim to fame was 4th and 26, an offensive coordinator who rode the coattails of Steve Young to create his reputation, and a GM who took the credit for building the championship Tampa Bay team when in reality his understudy Tim Ruskell was the real brains behind the operation. At no point during Vick’s time here did they ever draft an offensive lineman higher than the 5th round to let him stay on his feet. At no point did they bother bringing in a kicker who could kick a field goal longer than 40 yards (which DIRECTLY led to the Falcons missing the playoffs in 2005). At no point did they bring in a running back like Michael Turner who could convert short yardage opportunities. At no point did they ever realize the plainly obvious fact that you can’t have a defensive line smaller than every opposing offensive line without expecting them to wear down over the course of the season.

“Uncoachable”? Don’t make me laugh. Mora, Knapp, and Donatell have done JACK MOTHERF-CKING SH-T since leaving the Falcons. They have failed at every level. Vick could have memorized every inch of film in the history of the NFL and it wouldn’t have helped with that coaching staff.

Now to the discussion about rooting for opposing players. I could have a big dilemna if Pats/Falcons meet in SB – which is a dilemna I’d love to have. As a Mass. native and original/long time Pats fan, I’ve come to the realization I will root for the Falcs!! That is due to the time and effort I’ve put into defending my fellow alum M. Ryan. I know the only way to “sort of” silence his detractors is for a SB win . . .which I think is ridiculous. So am I a bad fan?? I didn’t know other people pick sides between their parents and children. Doesn’t sound very healthy to me.

I have Vick, Brian McCann, Jason Heyward, Joe Johnson, and Al Horford’s jerseys hanging in my closet. I wear whichever one I feel like on any given day. Sometimes I wear the Vick jersey to the Hawks game. Sometimes I wear one of the Hawks jerseys to the Braves game. Just depends on what I feel like.

I like Brooking. I think he gets a bad rap among Falcons fans for blowing the coverage in the 2008 playoffs. The man played out of position most of his career, and the genius coaches and GMs the Falcons had never bothered to get him a DT who could occupy blockers and allow him to make more plays.

Yes, I absolutely can. Vick was developing pretty solidly as a passer in 2002 under Dan Reeves and looked improved in the ‘03 preseason. He put up a higher passer rating that year than Sam Bradford did this year or Matt Ryan did last year. Of course he broke his leg in the ‘03 preseason, sat out most of that year, and when he came back in ‘04, the Moron/Knapp regime had been installed, and Vick’s development as a passer stalled as a result. Didn’t stop him from making plenty of great plays through the air, but it’s hard to have any consistency passing when the coach is making you roll out and run sideways before every throw. If he “didn’t work hard” when Moron was the coach, presumably he didn’t work hard when Reeves was here either, so what is the explanation for him putting up better passing numbers under Reeves?

Like I’ve pointed out before, everything Mora and Knapp have touched has turned to sewage in their NFL careers. Jim Mora Sr. tried to take the blame off his son by calling Vick a coach killer. Well, Vick just made Andy Reid and Marty “We’ll Take The Wind” Mornhinweg look like geniuses, while Matt Hasselbeck and Matt Schaub have seen their numbers take a hit as soon as Knapp joined them.

Wow, so hard to get comments to go through. Well, I’ve been trying to say as an original Pats fan, if they meet the Falcs in SB, I’m pulling for Falcs. This is because of the time/effort I have put into defending fellow BC alum M Ryan. It seems the only way his detractors will be “quieted” is with a Falcon SB win. Kind of silly that is what it will take, but so be it. Am I a bad fan? A bandwagon fan? Well, I guess the bandwagon most are jumping on is the Pats. Big Grady didn’t come here until a couple of games into the ‘06 season. Rod Coleman was good, but he was an A-gap DT whose game was more suited to penetrating the line of scrimmage than occupying blockers.

Then Moron took over, Duckett saw fewer touches, and didn’t do a whole lot with the touches he did see. Falcons cut him after the ‘05 season.

Actually, after Seattle won the best scenario we could have hoped for was Philly beating Green Bay. That would have left the Falcons against the #4 seed Seattle. A game I would have felt MUCH more comfortable with than Green Bay, who may be the best team in the NFC right now.

It would also have meant Chicago would have a tougher game. I think they will beat Seattle, but you never know. I would have preferred they played and beat Philly while the Falcons beat the Saints. I think Chicago and Seattle were the two weakest teams coming into the playoffs and now they get to play each other.

Of course, IF the Falcons beat the Packers .. the NFC Championship game won’t include a team with some sort of personal grudge against us. That could be a good thing.

Great to see Vick implode the last few weeks against good defenses. Spent the first part of his so-called MVP year beating 6 or 7 defenses in the bottom half of the league. As I predicted, when the going got tough, Vick lost. Great player. Flashy player. His style can be hard to stop, but he just gets too beat up having to play a few tough defenses in a row and you can tell the difference. Kolb wins that game tonight .. bet on it.

Anyway, I’d like to get back to the Falcons. You didn’t respond to my points earlier about the Atl/NO game on Monday night. It is my contention that the Falcons dominated the entire game and just got gassed defensively at the end. Not to mention uncharacteristic turnovers, ultra conservative coaching, and a lack of urgency. The Falcons win that game if it was a do-or-die situation, but they had the #1 seed locked up with a victory against the worst team in the NFL the next week. No need to to tip their hand so to speak…

None of this changes the fact that the Falcons as a whole received p!ss-poor coaching during the entire Jim Moron regime, and Vick is not the only player from that time who has benefited from better coaching since then. Look at Roddy White. Look at Jonathan Babineaux.

Anyway, Vick said in a subsequent interview that he made the decision after the ‘06 season to pay more attention to studying game tape. It’s not like he would have continued indefinitely as the player he was under Moron.

The Falcons collapsed down the stretch in ‘05 and ‘06 mainly because the underweight, flimsy defense collapsed and made people like Samkon Gado look like Pro Bowlers. In Week 15 of ‘06 Vick threw 4 TDs on NFL Network and the Falcons still lost because the defense couldn’t stop anyone.

I just hope we don’t turn the ball over. We play ball-control offense, MR takes some shots down field on play-action, and the defense gets in Rodgers’ face we win going away. We play conservative and get off to our characteristic slow start while turning the ball over and we have no chance against GB or anybody else for that matter….

I used Week 15 to counter the idea that Vick got worse over the course of those seasons and this contributed to the Falcons losing. Yeah, he sucked in Week 16. So did a defense that couldn’t stop a team from putting together an 80 yard scoring drive entirely from the Wildcat formation.

I really should have taken the truck out tonight. It would have been fun on the snowey roads and I could have made some frienda or money by getting people UN-Stuck, but I just couldn’t leave the MV7 BullSh.t. I am a REAL fan of the Titans QB McNAIR. Man now that was a Class too. He is something the NFL needs to be proud of. He was PERFECT when he played, but real life hit and we saw his chinks in his armour too.
Chea do you love McNair for all he did as a Black QB, Husband, and Father? He did so much for the community and the Tiatans until he go caught. Well it was after he was retired. I met him a few times in Nashville at the NASCAR bar. Never saw his wife of kids, but he was drinking and partying like he was single. I guess we know now why that was too.

Here is an objective view of the Pakers/Falcons game from a Pack Fan. I’ve read all the posts about tired legs and a short week, only scoring 1 TD against the Bears, only scoring 1 TD 2nd half against Eagles, Falcons secondary playing better than 1st Packers game and still won that game., on and on and on. The packer’s D has also been playing lights out and has the # 2 scoring D to the Falcons #5. Those all are nice stats but none of that means anything come Saturday. These are two very good, well coached, teams and the game will be decided by turnovers. I’ve been reading Pack fan excuses about the Falcons game and how we win the game if not for the goal-line fumble or runback/facemask. Maybe, maybe not. Bottom line is none of either teams previous games, mean anything on Saturday. The best team on Saturday will win, and probably go to the SB. I don’t think it wise to talk smack before a game inviting people back for crow after the game, unless of course it’s your favorite meal. All we can hope for is a cleanly ref’d game where the players decide the outcome and the winner moves on with no injuries. Good luck and GO PACK!

People like you are always spouting about this being a “team game.” That is until you have an agenda against a player. The Falcons let a team run an offense which not effective in 50 years run 49 rushes and pass for only 11 yards whip them. By the way, they held the ball for nearly 42 minutes. So, I never made an excuse for Vick’s play that day… I did indict that sorry coaching staff and that defense for not being able to stop a one dimensional offense…

And if you can’t comment without that silly name calling; you need to take a break and reevaluate what you’re doing!

Just got my playoff tickets via Fed Ex. I cant wait to enter the Dome Saturday night and watch the Birds beat the Pack again.The pundits are favoring the Pack to beat us. Thats ok a little added motivation cant hurt. Go Birds. This is our time.

Green Bay is not the best. They are the sixth seed. according to the seeding we got the worst team that made the playoffs.We are the best. Go Falcons.

No excuses for Vick the Falcon. He screwed the fans and the organization (not to mention himself). His work ethic sucked, his personal deportment was embarrassing and his value system was corrupt.

I would hope even you’d admit he’s paid his debt to society. Unless you subscribe to the dog-fighting-as-a-capital-offense theory too.

Some of us who were disappointed in Vick’s on-field performance and disgusted by his personal behavior his last years as a Falcon can see a different guy now.

Certainly he’s a more effective QB. And at least for public consumption, he’s not trying to out-Iverson Allan Iverson in his appearance, speech and choice of friends.

If you hate Vick, you hate Vick. Your prerogative. But it makes you blind to who he is now.

Vick robbed Arthur Blank and the Falcon nation, another probation violation.He clearly stated he did not give his best for the Falcon organization. Now it appears he is doing the same for the Eagles. He still needs to return Mr. Blank’s money.Go figure.

Escaped from Email Purgatory, I don’t hate Vick. He’s still a super-exciting player to watch, and I was pulling for him last night (for selfish Falcon reasons). And I do think he’s paid his debt to society…though not to the Falcons ($$ for one thing) or his other creditors. Dog fighting is horrible, but he got hit pretty hard for it.

Is he changed? Yes and no. He says the “right things” more often…but go look at his post-game quotes after last night’s game. Everything is “I – I – me – me”…not much about his teammates (at least what I read). And DeSean called him out for trying to be to aggressive/heroic on that last play. He still makes some of the same mistakes he did on the field in Atlanta, too. I guarantee you there are guys on that Eagles team who would vote for a full year of Kolb and avoid the Vick freakshow. And I stand by my guess that it is 50/50 that he’s back with them next year.

An exciting pro game ends, all players from both teams are shaking hands and displaying professional sportsmanship…..except for one…

…who is sulking on the bench like someone took away his candy…

…that would be Mike Vick.

He hasn’t changed. He’ll be in trouble during the off-season. Count on it.
