Don’t know if I’m sold on Mullen being the “face” of the Dawgs….He’s a little rough around the edges, and all Tech nerds will belly laugh at this, But Vince and Mark, regardless of what you think of them as coach’s, you never cringed when they spoke in public or on the air representing UGA. They both have class. Mullen appears to sound and act and look like a guy from the engine room of a Navy ship after working two shifts…..I say all that, because appearances are important to Georgia folk. Just my 2 cents.

I truly feel Vick has every right to play in the NFL if guys like Pacman Jones or Ray Lewis are plying their trade. But I dare say if Keith Olberman or Tony Cornheiser had said the same thing, we would have heard nary a peep from you. Jeff rightly cut out commenting yesterday so I never got to clear the air on a couple of points. I will make it easy for some who cannot read (I’ll type it again just for spite “The King’s English”.

1) PreyDawg- if the guy who tried to flame my screen name was a true Falcon Fan he would know that Prey was taken from an old marketing theme of the Falcons-”Birds of Prey”. Dawg is obvious…even for him.

2) I said from the very first post yesterday that Carlson was a conservative Poser. Carlson does not represent the principles of conservatism and he never has, I dont care how he or CNN try to categorize him.

3) Carlson’s comments about Vick were both stupid and (more importantly) immoral. He belies his claim to Christian faith by making an equivalence between dogs and humans that is not Biblical.

4) I love it when liberals (not Jeff others that posted) try to lecture conservatives on conservatism.

5) Lastly, The clown shoes comment and the “go back to your mothers basement” were wrongly applied to me. These are slurs that pencil necked liberals have earned from Conservatives. We conservatives post from corporate offices while we take a brief respite from running the world.

I dont agree with Carlson or you. But I do obviously agree that Vick’s actions were heinous. They just are not deserving of the death penalty.

Vick did hard time. He paid a HUGE price. He appears to be very sincere in wanting to change his lifestyle and give some back to society. I am not a fan because he is an Eagle now. But I do not think we should begrudge him a second chance.

You’re correct, Vick has a right to make a living. However, the NFL teams were not obligated to offer him a contract!! There appears to be no bottom to which they will descend to make a buck. If we were symphathetic to your family holocaust story, why can’t you show the smallest amount of compassion for the absolute HORROR those innocent animals went through? Schultz you are really Deep into the SEC koolaide. UGA should win, but I am not sold. Garcia will get killed but FSU’s D and the Visor will play Conner Shaw some. Florida could win, but I think Joe’s boys win. Joe is losing his mind, but UF can’t pick a QB and their coaches are getting sick from the preswsure to perform. Bama and Miss St do the SEC proud. What people are confusing here regarding Vick is that playing in the NFL is a privilege not a right. People think he has the right to play football again. If that were you or me with the dogfighting ring and abusing animals we wouldn’t see the light of day again much less be hired back at our old job. Vick blew the opportunity he was given. What he did to those animals was just plain wrong and sick. Right to earn a living sure he has that. Privilege of playing in the NFL not IMO.

I love how the Vick worshipers are now trying to say Ryan is “choking.” Really guys? Is that all you got? Brees threw it 20 more times than Ryan and still only matched Ryan’s TDs. MIAMI (Reuters) – A teenager has been arrested in a string of cat killings and mutilations that horrified residents of Miami’s southern suburbs, police said on Sunday.

Tyler Weinman, 18, of Cutler Bay, Florida, was charged with 19 counts of animal cruelty, 19 counts of improperly disposing of an animal body and four counts of burglary.

Police have said more than two dozen pet and stray cats were killed at night in the Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay neighborhoods during the past two months. In some cases, the cats were skinned or gutted and the corpses left on the lawns or driveways of their owners.

“I sincerely hope that with this arrest, the residents will feel relieved and their cats will be safe once again,” Miami-Dade County State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said. “It is expected that the vicious crimes that have plagued these communities will not be repeated.”

The killings had put residents of the areas on high alert and prompted them to take their own cats and strays into their homes at night. The Humane Society and Crimestoppers both offered rewards for information leading to the killer’s capture.

Political Correctness is tantamount to Appeasement; it shows cowardice and weakness. I am neither a liberal nor a conservative (there is no party for those of us in the middle). But I abhor Political Correctness, which condemns freedom of expression foremost among all infractions. Tucker Carlson, Hannity, Rush and the rest are a bunch of windbags, but they don’t harm anyone; all they do is talk. Carlson’s comment was over the top, yes; but he is right to be incensed over Mike Vick’s actions. Vick does far more harm than the talking-heads who condemn him. Yet it is Carlson, not Vick, who gets derided (two days in a row) by our esteemed sports writer. What about Vick? He blatantly broke the law by committing heinous crimes of torture against weak, innocent, defenseless animals, just for a laugh. In a nutshell, the man is malicious, cruel, stupid and loathsome. (He does make FOX a lot of money, though; anyone else see the irony in that?) The NFL grooms him and tells him all the right things to say, and all he has to do is run out onto the field and throw the ball, and millions of simpletons adore him. But Carlson simply stated his opinion, and our politically correct, appeasing journalists suddenly have a new target for their denigration. Seriously, what is wrong with this picture? The real joke is that we on this blog, too, must choose our words very, very carefully, lest we be censured (or banned) by Schultz. We let the lowlifes (like Vick) rule our streets and schools, but we don’t talk about it because God forbid someone may get his or her feelings hurt. I don’t know about the rest of you on here, but I’m pulling for Petrino and the Hogs equally as hard as I’m pulling for the Dawgs in these bowl games.

Just try to rationalize these events:

1) OSU’s players violate NCAA rules in ‘09, but get to delay serving the suspensions until the 2011 season
2) AJ commits one NCAA violation, and UGA holds him out of at least one game for fear of having to forfeit games due to having an ineligible player
3) Not only do the OSU players get to compete in the bowl game, but none of the games the ineligible players competed in have to be forfeited

So was UGA wrong in holding AJ out vs South Carolina while awaiting the NCAA’s ruling on him?

The Falcons Are 12-3 But They Can’t Draw As Many Fans Without Mike Vick

The Atlanta Falcons haven’t suffered a local TV blackout in an NFL season full of them, so that alone qualifies as a success at the gate.

But considering their 12-3 record, the Falcons rank a paltry 18th in attendance and have plummeted in value over the last 16 months. Owner Arthur Blank has to be discouraged with his team’s problems at the box office, and on the balance sheet, despite its on-field success. What more can he do?

Over at Forbes, Mike Ozanian has an answer – bring back Mike Vick. He doesn’t actually call for a trade, but does point out that even though the Falcons were worse in the standings during Vick’s tenure, they sold more tickets.

During Vick’s six years the team went 38-28 and filled the Georgia Dome to 96 percent of its capacity. Matt Ryan is 32-15 in two-plus years but Atlanta has filled just 94 percent of the seats. Those unsold seats cost millions of dollars in ticket, parking, concession, and merchandise revenue, according to the story.

But Forbes fails to mention that in between the Falcons’ quarterback transition NFL attendance took a major hit. Leaguewide attendance dropped 2 percent between 2007 and 2010 (projections), from 68,702 to 67,313. That, of course, is a much better explanation for why the Falcons have filled 2 percent less of their stadium, than any disdain for Matt Ryan.

Compared to leaguewide numbers, the Falcons attendance has remained steady. Sure, Matt Ryan isn’t as exciting as Mike Vick, but Atlanta can embrace a winner just as well as it once embraced a highlight-reel quarterback.

Ryan avoided turnovers but couldn’t lead the Falcons anywhere close to field goal range at the end of the game, throwing five straight incompletions over the final two drives. His touchdown came in the second quarter to a wide open Roddy White from seven yards out. Ryan did have 50 yards and a potential touchdown “taken away” by pass interference penalties. Know how much junk is in this bill? Of course not because no one can get through the 2,801 pages. It is such bureaucratic government speak that there are parts that NO ONE could understand. NO ONE !
Have you seen the flow-chart? A person would absolutely go insane trying to follow it. As you go through the bill, it will refer you to other bills, other documents and other references in order to get the “law.” Don’t forget, it is a Bill, it is now LAW. This nebulous over-reaching confusing junk is no way to issue law.

IT IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL TO REQUIRE CITIZENS TO PURCHASE INSURANCE. But I forget, the Constitution means nothing to liberals.

Yes, there are problems with the current situation with insurance companies. I fought these issues for thirty years as a corporate controller. But the issues should be addressed individually and thoughtfully. Not through some sweeping measure dictated my a bunch of unknown bureaucrats. The politicians did not write this. Little pin-heads in the back-room wrote this. This is no way to govern. The politicians didn’t even read it. Anyone that says they did is lying because it is unreadable.

This “thing” that has been shoved down our throat will end up being a Pandora’s box. Maybe the lid could be closed before all the evil is let out.

the REFS helped the Vols more than UNC. Maybe you missed the game. The Vols have grown all year. UGA beat them OK and the Vols had LSU beat. So does that mean the dawgs could beat LSU? Maybe if LSU didn’t show up. At LSU and an emotional and tuff loss then at UGA. The Vols were real down when they headed into UGA and Simms was still the QB. The Vols had a real bad 4 games @ LSU,@ UGA, BAMA, and @ USC. Dooley and the Vols will OWN UGA. Brey is better than MURRAY against better teams. Murry has not beat a team with a winning record.
