Tucker Carlson.

Michael Vick.
I write this knowing that the last thing anybody wants — least of all me — is to rehash Michael Vick’s history of dog fighting. But this seems worth mentioning: A commentator for Fox News (”fair and balanced”) just declared that Vick should be executed.
Tucker Carlson, filling in for Sean Hannity on Fox News, was addressing reports that President Obama phoned Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie to congratulate him for giving Vick a second chance in the NFL. Carlson went off on a rant and punctuated his remarks by declaring, “I think personally he should’ve been executed for that.”
Wow. And he said this even BEFORE the Eagles were upset by Minnesota Tuesday night. What would Carlson do to Vick now?
Here’s the video:
Once more, this time with feeling: Vick served his time for his crimes and has the right to earn a living. Anybody who chooses to boo or criticize him as a result of his past is completely within their rights. But I’m certain declaring on a national news broadcast that somebody should be executed probably is over the journalistic line.
Then again, I’m not completely familiar with Fox’s “fair and balanced” standards.

No Jeff of course you are not familiar with Fox. That is because you are a liberal and would rather slurp from the trough of this liberal rag and your boys at MSNBC.
If you were familiar with some real life news, you would know that Carlson is a pretender and is also a liberal. I think he cut his teeth at CNN. Only a liberal would equate the life of a dog with the life of a human. No conservative would do that.

I didnt even attempt to defend Carlson. I called Carlson out as a pretender. Clearly, I disdain what Carlson said by the tone of my post about him. It is an idiotic (and in my opinion immoral) statement. I have no intention of defending the statement or Tucker Carlson. What I am commenting on is YOUR implication that Carlson is somehow indicative of Fox News in general which he is not. He is barely ever on the air which is why he is pulling grunt duty during the holiday.
By the way…YOU DEFINITELY…have a liberal worldview. I have read you for too many years for you to deny that. However, I certainly understand that you would not make the equivication that Carlson made.
I still have lots of hope for you Jeff. That’s why I keep reading…that and you are the funniest guy at this paper.

As far as Vick…since that is where this is going….Will we ever EVER break free of this discussion….I will say it again. I am happy for the guy. I think he is sincere and has turned it around and that is good news for all of us in the human condition. That said, the LAST thing I want to endure as a lifelong Falcon is for him to come to the Dome in the playoffs. Interesting comment from PreyDawg that Tucker Carlson is a liberal because he used to be on CNN. He was on the CNN program called Crossfire as the right wing side of the argumentative duo (Paul Begala representing the left wing).
Following PreyDawg’s logic, Alan Colmes (of Hannity and Colmes) must be a right winger.

I also do not agree with Carlson’s statement and think it was over the top. However I did find it odd the President of this great country would feel compelled to take time out of his day to call the owner of the Eagles and complement him on giving Vick a second chance. Would he of called if Vick was having a poor season? Would the Eagles continue to give Vick a second chance if he was playing poorly? It is a business first and foremost and this was not a social charity move my the Eagles.

Questions he has never had to answer, but should:
Michael, describe to us some of the things that took place at your kennels. Let’s start with the dogs who had no teeth when they were rescued. Who pulled them out and why?”
“Many of the dogs were so terrified of people, when they were rescued, that they wouldn’t even walk on a leash for months? What had you done to them to make them so afraid?”
“Tell us exactly what you did with water to the dogs. Did you drown them? Explain how and why.”
“And what were the electric cables for? Did you electrocute them? Again, explain how and why.”
“Please describe what a rape stand is and what you used those for?”

There are so many things wrong with Tucker Carlson’s brain fart.
Where to begin? It’s clearly a misguided attempt by this neo-con twerp to pander to Fox’s audience. Trouble is, Tucker underestimates them. Fox’s audience (for the most part) ain’t buying what Tucker’s trying to sell.
If Tucker’s trying to “out-Hannity” Hannity, he failed miserably. I’m no fan of Sean, but even he would draw the line way above making an offensive comment like that.
No doubt, Tucker will attempt to slough this off as misguided political hyperbole, but it’s beyond the pale.
Let’s see how the brass at Fox responds. And how the left overreacts.

He’s a bigoted leftist who wants to see this country taken down a few notches. Vick is scum thug. Why don’t you comment on this pos saying he wants a dog. That’s no different than a convicted molester on several counts wanting to have a child. You’re the typical idiot liberal schultz. It’s no surprise you are from hippie land and are this way. Tucker Carlson’s overeager appealing to Fox viewers underlines their GOP (not conservative) worldview and exposes them as the cheering section they are. Tough Nolla Guy…you said ‘you don’t know the meaning of the word sociopath. dogfighting was acceptable in his community so he is not a sociopath.’
Go educate yourself. Google DSM-IV for the signs of a sociopath and he fits most of them. As for that tired argument about how it’s okay because it’s what was done in the black community, get real. I have plenty of friends who happen to be black, own pitbulls and wouldn’t dream of fighting them. There is a very, very thin line between animal abuse and child/spousal abuse. This has been documented.
I don’t think MV should be executed, but I also don’t believe that he should have so easily slid back into an easy life. Let him live the life of a true ex-con and see how that feels.

# 1 — your reference that Tucker Carlson was filling in for Hannity on “Fox News” is misleading and hardly accurate. Sean Hannity’s show is not a news show and never has been. It’s commentary. As for it being balanced, it’s a heckuvalot more balanced than any of its counterparts on CNN or MSNBC. Balanced (IMO) means you have guests from both sides offering their respective views or opinions. How many times do you see that done in the liberal media? Do you see a lot of conservatives on Chris Matthews’ show? Nope.
#2 – While execution would indeed be a harsh punishment, I imagine Tucker was merely using hyperbole to express his views (and over all disgust) regarding Michael Vick. I agree that Vick is total garbage and concur that any amount of *time served* or recompense/rehab will ever correct what are obviously serious character flaws. The man even got enjoyment from throwing his own family pets in the fighting ring, getting his thrills from watching them get ripped apart. Do you really think any amount of community service changes that type of individual? Don’t kid yourselves. Mike Vick is sorry he was caught and not sorry for what he did.
#3 – Jeff, while you moan and groan about bias, your article here is just as biased. UN-biased reporting means the reader never knows how the writer feels about his subject matter. How YOU feel about your material is blatantaly obvious.
Biased is as biased does.

In sports if you have a special talent you will always find a job, it’s about winning, that’s it, nothing else. Vick makes money for the Eagles, it’s a simple as that.
Obama calling the Eagles owner and congratulating him for hiring a dog killer probably wasn’t a good move for the leader of our nation and politically it looks like this will back fire in a major way.
I like Vick as a football player, who can deny his talents, however I think this is a case where most people either brush it off their shoulders or don’t know the truth. You can easily find the court documents that detail the crimes Vick committed. When you find that Vick broke the necks of dogs and electricuted them in bathtubs I think better perspective. Not many people are capable killing a dog with their own bare hands, sounds disgusting.
I don’t mind that Vick got a second chance and I find myself rooting for him on the football field, but when you truly look at the vicious acts he committed I see how some people can never forgive him.

Those evil conservatives are bad bad bad. They don’t want to let this best president, lowest approvals aside, accomplish his agenda. They complain about him playing 50+ rounds of golf in 20 months when Bush played 30 in 8 years and we bashed him for that. You see we are liberal hypocrites and we believe in free speech but only when it’s a liberal cause or message. Now that the president has spoken on Vick, we must defend him at all costs! That is what a good little liberal subject does! Tucker = Bad Vick the dog killer = good.

His creepiness outweighs my man love for Hines Ward and my like for Polamaulu (?) and Tomlin. It was never proven that he is a rapist no more than it was proved that Kobe was a rapist. If Roethlisberger was black I believe that you, judging by the comparison you made, and the The Two Live Stuws, would be rushing to his defense. I don’t understand how convicting Roethlisberger makes the league or the press any fairer. Roethlisberger got his jaw jacked by Seymoure (which again, I thought was pretty funny because he asked for it and he got it from a Georgia guy) and the league just gave Seymoure a slap on the wrist. I’m not sure that comparison is fair. If I have misjudged this I’m sorry.

We’ve all watched Micheal Vick play through the years and last night showed his ‘inconsistent’ hot dog style of play (again). The guy got hurt this year diving ‘head first’ between two defenders like a complete moron. He missed three games because of this high schooler move and he should be league MVP?? Oh Really? Really?? Now Obama is giving him an unofficial presidential pardon and thanking the Phildelphia Eagles owner for giving him a second chance….if he wins the Super Bowl OK.. but until then please quit petting this guy like some poor pitbull that just ate a your neighbors cat because he didn’t know any better. And as far as Tucker Carlson goes…this guy knows less about sports than he does about inter workings of toilet commode so his comments don’t surprise me; he’s the Micheal Vick of Fox News….

Thats par for the course with this joke of a football player though, so it was good to see again. Kind of nastalgic watching that game. I find it ironic that a left-wing political position is being ridiculed by those who seek to find fault with the Fox News Channel. Peta, Greenpeace, et. al. have espoused such views yet it takes a fill-in on Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity show to get liberals upset about a statement that happens to coincide with thier beliefs. That belief being that killing any living thing is wrong and should be stopped as a barbaric practice.
Personally, I think it was a stupic comment, Vick did his time and paid his “debt to society” for the crime he was convicted of. With that said, I do not see Vick as having a change of personal character, and, therefore, I expect him to self-destruct. I don’t want him to, I want him to have a change of heart and learn. His statements since joining the Eagles don’t give me much hope for him though.
Good luck MV7, please get it (your life) figured out before it’s too late.

The curse of idiocy is not some admission that needs to be skillfully coaxed from its victims for the world to see. Left to be, dolts will soon enough show their true colors without any prodding. If it was sincere, the execution comment gives you a good idea of this guy’s perspective and how little he cares for the rule of law. Vick did the crime and paid the price, and now by all indications he is walking the line. P.S.: Murder is the intentional killing of another human being – but of course it adds a certain desired effect to say Vick “murdered” dogs.

Vick is a great story. I love a redemption story. The Bible is full of them. He had a bad game last night. So did the entire Eagles team. They will still a force to deal with. A couple of things that I think gets lost in the Vick love though: Vick laughed all the way to the bank once already and lost it all. 85% of the guys who laughed their way to the bank leave the NFL bankrupt. Money is not the barometer to judge a man. Secondly, Vick didn’t just kill a few dogs. Vick had an organized gambling ring at his house where I think it is safe to assume there was illegal substances, weapons, underage drinkers… I’m not being racist, I think it is safe to assume that this goes on at any animal fighting event. Oh, and it just so happens that at this event a bunch of dogs were killed in a very inhumane way. So, I think that Vick did a little more than kill a few dogs. That said, he deserves the pro bowl and whatever success that follows. I think it is a great story and that Tucker Carlson is a jack wagon.

______________________________________________________
Unlike delusional Falcons Fans, I don’t make excuses for “bad” qb play. Vick didn’t look good at all last night, but I am confident that game will make him better in the playoffs. He has seen all possible “Vick oriented defense packages”. There is nothing else they can throw at him.
The difference between Vick’s bad game, 25 for 43 for 263 yards, 2 total tds, is that this would be a great game for CHOKE, by the way going 14 for 29 and 148 yards is rather B-Ball compared to Vick’s awful game last night.
Now, lets say the Packers beat the Bears. The playoffs would look like this:
Saints go to the West winner.
Packers go to Philly.
If Saints beat the West winner will go to Chicago and the Winner of the Packers and Philly would go to Atlanta. Either way, the Falcons will be 1 and done.
After the Saints CHOKE, does anyone really believe they could even beat the West winner?

Us Native Americans have a few things to say about football, and I did not like how the game went down last night. MVick seemed to have forgotten all the coaching he received about not running, and look for an open receiver before slinging it down the field. If the Vikings had a defensive back that could catch a ball, there would have been 4-5 interceptions. I also watched the severe limping that MVick was doing at the end of the game, but noticed after the game (while walking to midfield) that he wasn’t limping at all. I also noticed the apologist at ESPN having been making every excuse in the world why he reverted back to the old Vick. It’s looking more and more Atlanta will play Philly if the final four teams are Chicago, New Orleans, Philly and Atlanta.

Tucker is a Limpnickey (replace the “n” with a “d”. He gets nowhere with the ugly bowtie. I wonder if he is a Muslim in bowtie drag? He claims to be a Christian, I am not so sure about that. He is not very astute on the subject of politics and he only runs his mouth to keep hearing his own voice. He is part of a political party that is run by a pack of staunch old men who have had all the affairs their money could buy and now they have come home to roost when the plumbing went bad. It is sad to see a young man like Tucker surround him self with these old poots and he is following in their steps. Mr. Limpnickey, you may want to keep quiet on Mike Vick or tell him to his face. I also thought it was interesting what Chris Collinsworth said last night, something I have been saying for the past few seasons.
He said of Joe Webb, Mike Vick and Tim Tebow and even Aaron Rodgers.
He said, it is looking more and more that we may be seeing the new breed of qb play (the mobile qb).
Its no secret, the linemen, linebackers and blitzing safeties are just getting bigger and faster and qbs like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are a dying breed. Wait until Tom Brady gets in the playoffs and face the playoff version of top defenses – he won’t be able to sit comfortable in that pocket and once he gets touched, he squirms just like CHOKE does.
So, that new breed theory is now reaching the analysts – told ya so

Anyone who has hatred towards Michael Vick should understand:
“Michael Vick DIDN’T eat the dog, YOU AT THE CHICKEN…now who is sick?”
You hypocrites eat chicken, fish, cow, etc…
Of course you guys are “SELECTIVE” on your domesticated pets which feeds right into the thoughts of liberal and conservative eltist. Who believe you are selective on who deserves specific rights as well as 2nd chances. If this were Peyton Manning not a word would be uttered, why? He is “SELECTED”. This is the same of how it is terrible to kill dogs, BUT OK TO KILL CHICKENS, COWS, FISH, SPIDERS, etc…Forget Kill! It’s OK TO EAT THOSE ANIMALS! People dig into a juicy burger daily WHILE CONDEMNING MICHAEL VICK for his crimes. Last time I checked they can all be PETS. But the “SELECTED” dog and cats are the animals of the chosen few. This is the most hypocritical discussion i have heard in year; more importantly a clear sign of the cultural elitism that exist in America.

I’m all for second chances, but the reality of it is, Vick got a second chance in a situation where nobody else would. Let’s take a high school principle (this is hypothetical of course). This principle did a great job at the school. The school had the best test scores and graduation rate in the state. The school also had a great athletic program. Basically, in all facets, the school was top in the state in many areas and one of the top high schools in the country. The principle gets caught up in a dog fighting scandal. Goes to jail. Do you think that principle, even with all of the success in their professional life, would get another job with ANY school in the country (other than possibly being a janitor)? I doubt it. Most ordinary people would not get a second chance if they had been caught up in Vick’s situation. That’s the problem I have.

Mike Vick had a 22.5 quarterback rating last night. He should not be in the Pro Bowl.

I know that Vick did his time. It was far too little time. The fact that the Eagles hired him once again shows that, if you’re a football star, you can do anything you want and it doesn’t matter. This is what American society has slouched to.

There are just way too many talking heads in the world so, in an attempt to distinguish themselves from the pack, they revert to a tactic used succssfully by Rush Limbaugh, be as controverisial as possilbe. This even led the formerly respected Mark May to say something very stupid about Ohio state players in the bowl but they would have been suspended if they were from the SEC.
Having said that, if you saw Vick’s remarks about who should be MVP, “myself”, followed by that same old sly Bad News Boys from Newport News smile, you would realize this man is still a punk sham that has received lots of coaching and handling but still is not, nor never will be a man of quiet dignity and character.

Sometimes being the “Selected” goes beyond black and white. Most of the time not being “selected” begins when you are just not a likeable person. My example would be Lawrence Phillips, Bobby Cox, and Warren Moon. All three had issues with hitting a woman. Lawrence Phillips got raked over the coals because he had already done a bunch of junk and no one really said anything about Cox and Moon. Peyton is a likeable guy and very good. He would get a pass just like I believe Jeter, Tim Duncan, Hines Ward, Larry Fitzgerald, Tony Gonzalas, Michael Jordan, Warrick Dunn would. But when you set yourself up for it by being a jerk, like Romanowski, Clemens, Bonds, Terrell Owens, of course the press and the public are going to jump on it.

Guys, guys. We’re not doing a good job of sticking with what we know and are good at, so let’s focus on our bread and butter here as it pertains to this case:
A) That all Georgia Tech fans are citified nerdfolk.
B) That Georgia fans are under-educated rednecks.
To apply our two cardinal first principles, I vote we make this reporter out to be the hot-headed, over-reactive city nerd who secretly roots for Tech (I mean, Tech is a lot like “Up North” in Philly anyway, right?) and is taking his frustration from the 6-7 season out on Vick (who played for VT – a Jackets rival.) Vick himself is a jock by definition and therefore the undereducate Bulldog (ironic?) in this case. He just do what he do and don’t cerr whatchu thank. Plus he is the NFL’s posterchild for off-field issues. In 2010 Bulldog fashion he had his offensive highlight reel material but still lost the game. Clearly, a Tech fan would say even his slightest flaw deserves execution for the good of mankind.
So there we have it. The matter at hand through the lens of all things Clean, Old Fashioned Hate. Now we can bash each other with the “Go Jerjerr!” and “Ter Herl Wit Jerjerr! Ger Jerketz!” which is what we’re all really here to do. Cheers.
