Tucker Carlson.

Michael Vick.
I write this knowing that the last thing anybody wants — least of all me — is to rehash Michael Vick’s history of dog fighting. But this seems worth mentioning: A commentator for Fox News (”fair and balanced”) just declared that Vick should be executed.
Tucker Carlson, filling in for Sean Hannity on Fox News, was addressing reports that President Obama phoned Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie to congratulate him for giving Vick a second chance in the NFL. Carlson went off on a rant and punctuated his remarks by declaring, “I think personally he should’ve been executed for that.”
Wow. And he said this even BEFORE the Eagles were upset by Minnesota Tuesday night. What would Carlson do to Vick now?
Here’s the video:
Once more, this time with feeling: Vick served his time for his crimes and has the right to earn a living. Anybody who chooses to boo or criticize him as a result of his past is completely within their rights. But I’m certain declaring on a national news broadcast that somebody should be executed probably is over the journalistic line.
Then again, I’m not completely familiar with Fox’s “fair and balanced” standards.

Out of 300 million people in the U.S., you’d think Jon Stewart and Tucker Carlson could get more than 2 million views.
That’s what, less than 1% of the popualtion?

talk about taking full advantage of the first Amendment here………This guy is completely out of line. You don’t speak as a Christian and act as a Heathen in the same breathe……..Since Mr.TV guy can prescribe punishment so well, I wonder what he would recommend himself for being such a Moron. This act reminds me of “the guy” who runs onto the field of play during a Big Time Sporting Event……..Look @ “ME” everybody!

It’s a real shame that the NFL would allow a dog murderer and a 2 time rapist back into the league, I believe that Michael Vick does not have any remorse for what he did, I hope every Sunday that he plays that he blows his knee out and can never play football again, Once a thug piece of crap always a thug piece of crap

Tucker’s comments were over the top but so were Jeff’s comments about FNC, I guess if you work for the most liberal newspaper in america you must toe the line and say and do what the masters at the AJC require. As as far as Vick is concerned the fans in Philly will come to the same conclusion as the Falcon fans came to: Vick will never be a super bowl champion.

Why is it acceptable for individuals to express the desire to end the lives of black men? So often we hear individuals and PUBLIC FIGURES expressing the desire to end the life of the president...now mv. I dont understand how this is acceptable. I was born in the 70’s…Now, I have an idea as to what it felt like to live in the 1960’s. This country is in a sad state.”

Jeff, you work for Cox. Ergo, YOU know nothing about journalistic standards. If you can’t recognize Tucker Carlson’s off-handed humor, you’re hopelessly lost. The only thing the printed AJC is good for is to line the bathroom when one is training one’s dog.
I know that Vick did his time. It was far too little time. The fact that the Eagles hired him once again shows that, if you’re a football star, you can do anything you want and it doesn’t matter. This is what American society has slouched to.

There are just way too many talking heads in the world so, in an attempt to distinguish themselves from the pack, they revert to a tactic used succssfully by Rush Limbaugh, be as controverisial as possilbe. This even led the formerly respected Mark May to say something very stupid about Ohio state players in the bowl but they would have been suspended if they were from the SEC.
Having said that, if you saw Vick’s remarks about who should be MVP, “myself”, followed by that same old sly Bad News Boys from Newport News smile, you would realize this man is still a punk sham that has received lots of coaching and handling but still is not, nor never will be a man of quiet dignity and character.

Michael Vick is-by no means- a saint for what he did…. but to say that he deserves to be EXECUTED for what he did is RIDICULOUS!! If that’s the case-let’s give life sentences to jay walkers and tax evaders…. I’m sure Bill O’Reilly would demand firing squads.

Man, you’d people would have a stroke if you’d read a “true” liberal newspaper like the Toronto Star or the Boston Globe! I read the San Diego Union (that paper makes Fox look like a far left rag… The AJC is moderate for the most part… Get over it…

Let me remind all that MVick did not go to Federal prison for killing a dog. He went to prison for running a dog fighting ring across state lines. I get tired of reading he went to jail for killing dogs, that’s the apologist answer.

I usually watch FOX religiously Jeff but I missed this comment as it occurred. RATS! Been watching lot of TV sports lately. Some jerk chided high numbers FOX shows generate with backhand insult. Even though FOX outdraws mainstream controlled media (CNN, Nothing But Crap NBC) and other such worthless garbage by outrageous margins. Oh well.

Sometimes being the “Selected” goes beyond black and white. Most of the time not being “selected” begins when you are just not a likeable person. My example would be Lawrence Phillips, Bobby Cox, and Warren Moon. All three had issues with hitting a woman. Lawrence Phillips got raked over the coals because he had already done a bunch of junk and no one really said anything about Cox and Moon. Peyton is a likeable guy and very good. He would get a pass just like I believe Jeter, Tim Duncan, Hines Ward, Larry Fitzgerald, Tony Gonzalas, Michael Jordan, Warrick Dunn would. But when you set yourself up for it by being a jerk, like Romanowski, Clemens, Bonds, Terrell Owens, of course the press and the public are going to jump on it.

I’m glad the Eagles got their azzes kicked. The best team in the NFC (Eagles) lost to a third string quarterback.
Mike Vick had a 22.5 quarterback rating last night. He should not be in the Pro Bowl.

Guys, guys. We’re not doing a good job of sticking with what we know and are good at, so let’s focus on our bread and butter here as it pertains to this case:
A) That all Georgia Tech fans are citified nerdfolk.
B) That Georgia fans are under-educated rednecks.
To apply our two cardinal first principles, I vote we make this reporter out to be the hot-headed, over-reactive city nerd who secretly roots for Tech (I mean, Tech is a lot like “Up North” in Philly anyway, right?) and is taking his frustration from the 6-7 season out on Vick (who played for VT – a Jackets rival.) Vick himself is a jock by definition and therefore the undereducate Bulldog (ironic?) in this case. He just do what he do and don’t cerr whatchu thank. Plus he is the NFL’s posterchild for off-field issues. In 2010 Bulldog fashion he had his offensive highlight reel material but still lost the game. Clearly, a Tech fan would say even his slightest flaw deserves execution for the good of mankind.
So there we have it. The matter at hand through the lens of all things Clean, Old Fashioned Hate. Now we can bash each other with the “Go Jerjerr!” and “Ter Herl Wit Jerjerr! Ger Jerketz!” which is what we’re all really here to do. Cheers.
