Michael Vick had four touchdowns against Giants.
Matt Ryan is close to setting an NFL win record.
There are two games left in the NFL’s regular season. Other than finalizing the playoff field, the greatest debate seems to be: Who is the season’s MVP?
The way I see it, it’s a four-player race that’s still up for grabs. But right now, Tom Brady and Michael Vick are at the top, and I’ve got them even. The other two candidates: Matt Ryan and Roddy White of the Falcons.
I welcome your opinion. Also got a poll up.
Just one thing: I was on Twitter last night and the rapper @BowWow turned moron when he Tweeted, “If @MikeVick dont get MVP the nfl and commisioner[sic] are [bleeping] racist. Who u kno can go to jail come out turn a franchise around and dominate.”
I will say this once: PLEASE let’s have a civil debate without getting into a race debate. I will grant you that a lot of folks probably hold a grudge against Vick for his past, but let’s remember that at one time he brought this city together like maybe no athlete ever has, and it wasn’t about race then. If, say, Brady wins the MVP, it’s not because the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell are racist. Sorry, Bowwow.
OK, here are my four candidates, listed in order of preference, going into the last two weeks:
1.) TOM BRADY. New England (12-2) is tied with the Falcons for the best record in the NFL. The biggest reason is Brady. He hasn’t thrown an interception since the Patriots’ fifth game against Baltimore. That’s nine straight games (283 attempts) without a pick. He’s tied for the league lead in touchdowns (31), has the fewest interceptions (four) and the highest quarterback rating (109.9). There’s also this: He and the Patriots’ offense got better after they dumped Randy Moss. Brady made Deion Branch relevant again.
1a.) MICHAEL VICK. The New York Giants’ meltdown against Philadelphia Sunday notwithstanding, is there any quarterback in the league other than Vick who could’ve orchestrated that comeback? I don’t think so. He exuded leadership and was the ultimate weapon, throwing for 242 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for 130 and another score. Vick’s turnovers have picked up as he’s gotten more beat up as the season’s gone on. But if he can finish with two strong games against Minnesota and Dallas, he is MVP worthy. The biggest reason not to vote for Vick is he sat out three games and was knocked out early in another. But his body of work compensates for that.
3.) MATT RYAN. I’ve gone back and forth between Ryan and White as to who’s been more valuable this season. Right now, it’s a split vote. Ryan is closing in on an amazing achievement: He is 32-13 as a starter and with wins in the final two games can break Dan Marino’s record for most wins (33) in his first three seasons. But let’s focus on this year. Ryan’s been at his best when the game is on the line, leading several fourth-quarter comebacks. That defines a winner (and the Falcons have won eight straight and more than any team except the Patriots). Despite four interceptions in his last three games, Ryan is on the way to the best touchdown-interception ratio of his career (currently 25 to 9).
3a.) RODDY WHITE. There’s a tendency to lean toward the quarterback when picking an MVP. But White has had the best season of his career and he has made the Falcons a better offense and Ryan a better quarterback with his ability to make plays. White leads the NFL in receptions (106) and receiving yards (1,284), averaging nearly 92 yards per game. He was the reason the Falcons beat Baltimore (12 catches, 138 yards, two touchdowns) and Cincinnati (11, 201, 2). Some wondered if White was worth elite-level money when he got his last contract, but he has proven that he is. Without him, this Falcons’ offense becomes ordinary.
That’s my opinion. I welcome yours.

Vick for certain is the peoples choice. Brady has been in the discussion so often. People like new blood and they like redemption stories.
Vick is a completely different person on and off the field. It’s not that his skills are dramatically different (he still makes big plays with his arm and his legs, but he fits perfectly, he is charasmatically leading the team and he’s kind of the “grown up” now if that makes sense to the youthful exuberance of Jackson and Maclin and McCoy.
You need moments of greatness to win the MVP and Vick is always a guy who gives you moments.

While I certainly love Ryan and Roddy, it’s an uphill climb for a receiver to begin with no matter what they do.
Ryan doesn’t have the stats or the media coverage to win over other canidates.
The way the Falcons team operates, until they win several playoff games or win over time like the Patriots, they aren’t going to be hyped. Now…as soon as they do all the “experts” who are really just people who watch football and make comments like the rest of us… will be all over them.
The Falcons couldn’t win without Ryan and White…. but that’s not what the MVP is really about.
It’s about hype and stats and all the things “experts” say they don’t care about.
Otherwise Polamalu would have won one already.

Not a Falcon fan at all but its hard to vote against Ryan or in my mind Manning.
New England showed that they can win without Brady. I think its system there.
Vick is the sexy pick, but would the Eagles be that much worse off if Kolb was leading the team?
You take Ryan off the Falcons or Manning off the Colts the teams would be a shell of themselves

Everyone expected the Patriots and Brady to be good, but did anyone have the Falcons and Matt Ryan as the best in the NFC and probably the league? Yes, everyone expected the Falcons to be good, but not this good. Maybe Matty Ice deserves a little more MVP consideration…I’ll take seven 4th Quarter comebacks over a better TD to INT ratio any day…

Seems to me that if you’re considering White, you’d also have to consider Gonzalez. The presence of Gonzalez opens up so much for the passing game. Even if Gonzalez’s numbers don’t match up with White (and there’s no reason to expect them to, TE vs. WR), take Gonzalez out of the equation and White isn’t having anything close to the same season.
Hey, White has had a great year and is easily the best Falcons receiver in a long while. But I just can’t make a serious argument for him as MVP.

Although I am a huge Mike Vick fan, and I even voted for him in the poll (lol) truth be told, Tom Brady has a slight edge on Vick. 12-2 vs. 8-2 (7-1) in games he started & finished. 31 TD Pass vs. 20 (8 rush TD) 109 vs. 103 For Vick to have been hurt he is still around in stats but Brady has the edge. However I agree that Vick is the people’s choice!!!

TOM BRADY! Case closed…and it’s shameful to see all the Vick jock sniffers on here talking smack…and the fact that he’s leading in this AJC poll is astounding.
All I ask you to do is look at the teams that Brady and the Pats have beaten in the AFC in the last 6 weeks. Look at Brady’s numbers…and then look who he is throwing to? Deion Brach (Settle outcast)…Wes Welker…Danny Woodhead…2 rookie TE? Brandon Tate? Are you serious? You switch out the skill players on the Eagles and the Pats and I’d like to see Vick do the same with Brady’s players…who has the better skill players? is it even close?
Give me Jackson, Maclin and McCoy any day.
So again…Tom Brady winning with inferior skill players around him and against tougher competition.
Tom Brady is your MVP.

Vick is a Murderer,
No, they wouldn’t, and this is why too many in the ‘black” community as a whole lack standards and integrity, as they have proven over and over–like the acquittal of an obviously guilty OJ Simpson, the re-election of political candidates, like Marion Berry, that are obviously criminal, and even condoning Vick’s activities, all in the single interest of “helping a brother!”
Personally, I am proud of what Vick has done to turn his life around. I’m glad we now have Ryan, but I am equally glad Vick has apparently turned his life around and, if genuine, he can be a testament to all that one can have it all, deservedly lose it, and then change for the better to get it back. It is, however, the degenerate blacks like those at the “town hall meeting” and those who are Falcon fans than wear Vick jerseys to the Georgia Dome and cheer for him over their own team that I am more appalled. They are simply cheering for Vick because, in their small minds, he is a black QB succeeding in a “white man’s world” and they would pull for him for this reason alone even if he was an ax murderer–simply because his is black!

How may other cities had a radio show for a back up.

To Vick is a murderer … Yes. If Tom Brady or Brett Favre or Matt Ryan or Peyton Manning fought dogs, were arrested, condemned, ruined HIS own career … not mine let me add ( I’ll get more on this in a moment) … came back a changed man, showing dedication, and I was a fan of his to begin with, then yes I would forgive him and feel the same about him.
People think it’s a black thing. To an extent, coming to his defense is what’s a black thing because it’s the majority of the hate is coming from white people who barely wanted to give the guy a chance to begin with. Now that he screwed up, it comes across as an I told you so, and never again should he be given a chance … but the overall story is a human being who was punished and has come back to change his life, there is no shame in being a fan of a person like this. People want to say Vick RUINED our franchise and RUINED the falcons … he didn’t ruin the falcons. He didn’t hurt me. He didn’t have me wasting my money … he RUINED his own life. The falcons were mediocre for a couple years prior to Vick getting caught up. Vick isn’t the reason Jenkins and Roddy white were dropping all those passes. White said it himself that he wasn’t changed until Joe Horn came and taught him how to be a professional. VICK missed out on that opportunity to join in on the party by ruining his life … he didn’t ruin me. He actually helped us out … if it weren’t for his 70% effort, we wouldn’t have Mike Smith, Matt Ryan, and Thomas Dimitroff.
So no, I have no disdain towards Vick. It took the proverbial “slap” in the face to wake him up. Good for him. He’s having success now and I’m proud of that. I’m a falcons fan. I’m also a fan of Vicks. If you have a problem with that, then that’s your opinion. However, if they come to the dome, guess what … I need my falcons in the superbowl. If the eagles beat us, I’ll root for the guy.
I see nothing wrong with that.

I love Ryan and Roddy, and together with Turner they’ve produced a great season; however Brady and Vick are the only legitimate candidates this year. Brady has done it over 14 games vs. 11 for Vick, but there’s no question that Vick has had more spectacular moments, including what happened this past Sunday. I’d give the edge to Brady at the moment, but I think having a great performance on national TV Sunday could turn the vote in Vick’s favor.

Brady is hands down the league’s MVP, and this coming from a big Matt Ryan fan. Brady has been able to maintain excellence in spite of trades and injuries to his team while leading them to the best record.
Ryan and White are one in the same, and are having great seasons but they will cancel each other out. Vick has had a fantastic year, but he has to be second, because if you are going to have Roddy White cancel out Matt Ryan, then DeSean Jackson has to cancel out Vick as well.

That’s fine actually, as the two have put up good seasons and are certainly worth the debate, but to say they are the only other contenders? Please, give me a break. You should at least be smart enough to have an “other” option in the poll. Let me rattle off some names for you. Phillip Rivers, Aaron Rodgers, Jamaal Charles. All of whom, more specifically the first two are just as worthy to be in discussion. Rivers dealt with injuries, holdouts and crappy players all year, and still had nearly record breaking numbers. And Rodgers, though it might not appear to be the case, is just as viable. The Packers have no run game, and without Rodgers are nothing on offense. Both the Detroit and Patriots losses proved that. Sure, Matt Flynn had a nice game, but he couldn’t orchestrate the comeback at the end. Rodgers probably would.

When comparing Vick to Brady, I think Vick has been more valuable to his team for this year. So if he won the MVP, I’ve got no problem with it. He’s deserving. However, Brady is the better QB by far. I’d take Brady over Vick as my QB without any hesitation. Brady has proven what he can do & he’s still proving it. Vick has a long way to go to reach Tom Brady’s Status.

Vick is a Murderer
It’s kind of hard to think you’re not being a smart a** with a name like and asking the question you asked. Some of it does have to do with race because of all the sterotypes that has been out there. There are still people who feel a “African American” QB can’t lead a team consistently. The other issue is the fact that another African American has been made an example by the Federal Court and the NFL. Vick was suspended before he was sentenced and while we have come a long way as a country there are still times when many feel like we take a lot of steps backwards. I could go on but there’s no point to re-hash what is already known
My question to you sir, if Vick looked like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady do you think society would be as critical? If the animal in question was a deer (wildlife) would you have acted differently and would you have the screen name “Vick is a Murderer?”
I want you to look at how “Big Ben’s” case was handled. Regardless on the conviction or not the NFL and everybody across America seem to think dogs were more important than Women because the reaction was not as strong. What do you think the reaction would’ve been if Ben were African American?
And in your words, “I mean no disrespect if taken that way. I am just curious……”
WHAT ARE VOTERS THINKING?

Let me start by saying that I hate the Patriots!………But how can anyone put Vick ahead of Tom Brady…What are they Smoking??.I’m not knocking Vick but he hasn’t started 3-4 of the Philidelphia games and has showed that he is a Dynamic Force when he is Coached Properly like he is now(Too bad the Falcons never had anyone that could coach or keep Vick in Line)…BUT………Brady has 2 Rookie tight ends,a short guy who packs some Wood(Woodhead)and another Short Guy(Welker) who they stole from the Dolphins for a 2nd round pick!.Also a Guy that was washed up in Seattle(Branch).a Motley Crew at Best!………No Interceptions in 8 games!.Shreaded the Steelers,Bears,Jets recently…..all good playoff teams…..A No Brainer!………..People who Vote for Vick just feel sorry for him……….What will he do after he gets that Hefty Contract after this season??Who Knows and Who really cares in Atlanta….I know I don’t….I don’t want to see Brady get Mvp either………now the Guy who Mentioned Matt Kassel makes sense to me….where would K.C. Be Without him………looking at who they would get with the first or second draft pick…that’s where!.Philly without Vick…still a good team with Kolb………..Patriots without Brady?………Right where the Dolphins are looking at another 7-9 season or worse!…..Sorry Matt…..Tom is the Sensible Pick!

I couldn’t agree more with the assessment that Vicks “Body Of Work” should exceed the 3 games he was out recovering from and (injury), which I think should have been pointed out. The 3 games missed isn’t like he was just sitting there and then replaced Kolb. Another point is would Brady still be still having MVP numbers under the same conditions as Vick due to a lesser talented offensive line, or what would Vick’s stats look like if he had the line that Brady has?
Though Brady, and Vick are the cream of the with 2 games remaining this season they clearly aren’t playing on level fields Vick- missing 3 games (who knows what stats he would have compiled in them), and Brady- having excellent protection (who knows how he would perform with the Eagles type of protection). Overall they are good at what they do with what they have.

I’m not white nor black. In my view Tom brady is the best QB right now in the league (this season) and he should win the MVP, while Vick comeback is a great, and i tend to think that more of a comeback player of the year award. Brady pretty much out ranked Vick in every stats there are as a QB. MVP should be to the player playing the best throughout the league, and only based on stats ( team wins, TD/Int, rating, etc.) and shouldnt based on emotion. Vick made a mistake and paid his due and now he is a changed man, his story is unbelievable. However, MVP is the best player (usually only for QB type of award) Brady > Vick ( stats, rating, team wins, competition etc). Brady is even outplayed peyton manning, which dont often happend. Just my two cents.

A few things…
You do realize where all this is headed right?
Sunday, Jan. 23, 3 p.m. in the Georgia Dome. The Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Atlanta Falcons for the NFC championship and a Super Bowl berth.
Michael Vick, back where it all came crashing down.
My oh my. Pad your walls. Find your ear plugs. Prepare now for every sonic Tweet, commentary and media roar – present company very much included – that will bombard your world if this transpires, because it’s going to get noisy.
The din already enveloping Vick and his combustible Eagles (10-4) hides the fact that Atlanta (12-2) is one win from locking up top seed in the NFC and home field through the postseason. The Falcons are 6-0 in their dome this season, 19-3 there the last three seasons.
Usually, I disrespect teams that play the “disrespect” card, but the overlooked Falcons might have a case. They’ve lost only to the Steelers, 15-9 in the opener, and the Eagles, 31-17 in Philly in October, but don’t get nearly the media credit or attention merited by a 12-2 club.
The path’s not been the toughest: Atlanta has beaten five teams with winning records, including 8-6
Tampa Bay twice. Then again, same for the Eagles; five victories over winners, though two fewer overall.
Know what? Nobody’s going to care about any of that if these guys are still standing in a month. So clear that afternoon to be ready. You have been warned.
An ensuing drama with Vick is the richness of his next price. He can be a free agent, but at worst, the Eagles will lock him up with their “franchise” tag – or what passes for that status depending on the NFL’s labor talks. But there’s little question that Vick, potentially the league’s offensive Player of the Year, will stay an Eagle or that he wants to stay, as he’s said, because they offered him his chance when he was toxic.
A source familiar with Vick’s contract plans, who requested confidentiality, told me weeks ago Vick would aim for the $15 million-a-year range. One would presume that number’s higher now. As a handy reference, the four-year extension signed this season by New England’s Tom Brady, another MVP contender, was for $18 million per, with $48.5 million guaranteed.
To be sure, this season’s soundtrack for Vick, who’s emerging from bankruptcy and has countless debtors, is one note, played on an endless loop: ch-ching ch-ching ch-ching.

You have a lot of people rooting against him because he’s black, but you don’t mention anything about that. I’m happy with Matt Ryan at QB and I’m a Falcon fan before anything or anybody else, but you know what? Not everybody watches the game like that. A lot of casual fans have their favorite players rather than the team and will cheer the player on.
I don’t diagree with you but you also have to acknowledge the other half as well when it comes to this issue. Yes, you will have some that want him to be MVP because he’s black but then you will have some that want Tom Brady to be MVP because he’s white, and then you will have some on either side who will want Brady or Vick for various reasons, but the winner of the MVP should be the player that is most valuable to his team’s success this year and right now it’s hard to pick one over the other, but I want Matt Ryan to win MVP!

All I will say is that Ryan in less than 3 years has a winning percentage of 73%. He is 32-12, 19-1 at home and just wins, period. He has or will have as many TD’s in his first 3 years as Vick did in 6, and while all want to talk about what Vick did to build the Falcons, his winning percentage for Atlanta was 56% at 38-28-1. No back to back winning seasons, NEVER threw for more than 3000 yards, a 54% completion rate. (Ryan’s is 63%).
I know this is a discussion about who is the MVP for this year, but I am so tired of hearing the talk about how good Vick was in Atlanta, what he did for the city and the team. What he did was SCREWED this city and this team. Although I commend him for finally deciding to dedicate himself to his profession and yes he has had a tremendous year, the fact that Matt Ryan came in as a rookie on the heels of the Vick and Petrino debacle, went 11-5 and took this team to the playoffs was a miracle. Yes as a rookie he lost the playoff game against Arizona, but so did Philly in the NFC Championship game with a veteran QB in McNabb.
Ryan isn’t flashy, doesn’t throw with the Brees numbers, although if he had to he could. (look at Baltimore game). He is 1 win away from tying Marino for the most wins EVER by a QB in his first three years. That includes the Manning brothers, Vick, Brees, Rivers, Favre, Starr, Stabauch, Bradshaw, Unitus, all of them. That is a feat within itself.
So if you want to put Ryan down, and raise Vick up, that’s fine, but back it up. And not with the Ryan hasn’t won a playoff game. That is coming and soon.
If you want to be a Vick fan, that is fine. But don’t say you are a Falcon fan and a Vick fan, and then come to the Ga. Dome with your Falcon #7 Vick jersey on. Be man or woman enough to put on your Green #7 Vick jersey because you aren’t a Falcon fan.
Over the course of time Ryan will rate with the best ever in the league.

Now off the race stuff and on to the actual question of MVP……
Right now I would pick Brady for two reasons. He has the better stats and his team would be mediocre without him. Vick is a close second because while he too has the stats, his team wouldn’t be much worse without him in my opinion. However, let Vick pull off another performance in the 4th quarter like he did Sunday and he just might get my vote.
On the other hand, if both Brady and Vick were not having lifetime years then my vote would go to Matt Ryan. Sure White has had a great season, but Mr. Ryan has engineered, I think, six or seven 4th quarter comebacks this season and without him the Falcons are probably a 6-6 team right now and that’s the definition of a “Most Valuable Player–what or where would his team be without him?

NFL Playoff Scenarios: Root For Bears If You Want To Avoid Eagles, Falcons Fans
by Jason Kirk • Dec 21, 2010 9:32 AM EST
You’ve seen it coming since Michael Vick first took over for the Philadelphia Eagles back in September against the Green Bay Packers: Vick vs. the Atlanta Falcons in the playoffs. The Eagles beat Atlanta soundly in Philly minus Vick and in Atlanta last year, though the latter was without Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, and so forth.
The media really, really wants this to happen. Vick in the Georgia Dome is the only NFC Championship Game scenario that could possibly match last year’s New Orleans Saints vs. Brett Favre storylines. I, for one, do not want it to happen. If the Falcons are able to beat Vick in the playoffs and exorcise all the demons and what have you, then great. But let’s not take the chance if we can avoid it.
Thus, we root for the Chicago Bears to keep winning. They’ll take home field over the Eagles if they win out, regardless of what Philadelphia does. Besides the fact that you’d merrily take Jay Cutler in the Georgia Dome in January over Vick, this would also force Philly to play in round one. Vick would likely have to get through both a furious New York Giants team and the Bears to get to us.
Not scared of Vick — just keeping it real. This Eagles team carved up the Falcons with Kevin Kolb behind center.
Am I being a sissy coward of a worrywart? Do you want Vick in the playoffs?

Power Poll: Big-play Eagles soar after giant miracle
Vinnie Iyer SN Icon Sporting News
The 2010 Philadelphia Eagles are among the best big-play teams in NFL history. In 14 games, they have had 73 plays go for 20-plus yards, scoring on 15 of them — both good for No. 1 in the league. They also average a league-best 6.3 yards per play.
Although Sunday’s rally from three touchdowns down in the fourth quarter to beat the New York Giants 38-31 was improbable, considering the Eagles’ quick-strike ability it wasn’t implausible. Michael Vick was responsible for most of the dazzle with his strong arm and fast legs, setting up fellow speedster DeSean Jackson to score the game-winning TD on a punt return.

Vick is an ESPN, CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox story. They love the fact that a convicted felon is playing well, and he is. It makes for good reality television. I have no problem with Vick coming back and doing well. Good for him. He finally is giving to the game that gave to him in a BIG way.
At issue is without Brady, without Ryan, without Brees, their teams would be nothing. Without Vick, the Eagles would still contend. Not taking ANYTHING away from his marvelous season, but his stats and his value to the Eagles in not the same as Brady to the Patriots and Ryan to the Falcons.
Do I believe Ryan should win the MVP, no. Do I believe Vick should win the MVP, no. Do I believe Brady should win the MVP, yes. Why? Name one receiver besides Wes Welker that plays for the Patriots? Can You? And look at the stats. Hell they let Randy Moss go at the beginning of the year and Brady just ticks right along.
The discussion on the board about the Eagles possibly playing Atlanta in the NFC title game is lame at this time.
If Chicago wins out, and Atlanta does the same, they will have first round byes, (Chicago holds the tie breaker since they beat Vick and the Eagles) while Philadelphia will play one of the two wild card teams, probably the Giants for the 3rd time. It’s hard for ANY team to beat one team 3 times in the same year although the way the Giants crumble it’s possible, but yet difficult. In all likelihood IF the Eagles beat the Giants and if the Saints beat the NFC West division winning joke, you have the Bears playing the Eagles, in Chicago and the Saints coming back to Atlanta to play the Falcons. I do not, for any reason believe the Eagles would beat the Giants for the third time, nor do I believe the Eagles would beat the Bears if they did.
All I am saying, quit talking about the difficult road the Falcons would have in the playoffs. This team is capable of beating anyone. They are well coached, the time of possession keeps the other teams offense off the field while wearing down the defense and they believe, whether anyone else does or not.

With most playoff spots still undecided, there’s still only one semi-plausible way to draw lines among and between the league’s 32 teams.
Besides, we’ve been doing this for 14 weeks. We can’t stop now.
1. New England Patriots (No. 1; 12-2): A close win against a team starting an untested backup may have been the best way for coach Bill Belichick to get the Patriots to stop believing what everyone is saying about them.
2. Atlanta Falcons (No. 2; 12-2): Stomachs in Georgia already are full of butterflies in anticipation of the possibility that Mike Vick will be returning for the playoffs.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (No. 6; 10-4): Could the first season after the McNabb era be the season when the Eagles finally win a Super Bowl?

You wrote: “Larry, you have a lot of people rooting against him because he’s black, but you don’t mention anything about that.”
Then let me say it– I don’t care for anyone who pulls for or against one because he is a particular color. And yes there are whites that pull against Vick because he is Black, etc, etc. However, I believe as a group blacks are more likely to pull and vote for someone simply because he/she is black than any other race. This is not true with most whites as it would have been impossible for Barak Obama to have been elected without a significant number of white votes.
I am big on integrity and simply doing the right thing, regardless of one’s color or religion, period! Agree with me or not, my integrity is beyond reproach and never will I be accused of being hypocritical! The day blacks-and whites–come together and consistenly chose the right things and the right person that will best serve Americans will be the day our county becomes great again.

To Vick is a Murderer: I have noticed that the VAST majority of the people who are NOT on the Vick bandwagon are WHITE. Does that make them racist? I certainly would be on his band wagon if he were white. I root for Josh Hamilton. Some blacks root for Vick because he is black and to understand that you would almost have to be black and live in America. I am not sure an explanation of that will enable someone who is not black to truly grasp the full meaning. So while Vick was his own worst enemy, many blacks are not going to throw him away as easily as others in society do. With the way he has carried himself since his release, how can anyone not root for him to succeed?
On another note, enough of this “he destroyed the franchise when he went to prison”. Bad management destroyed the franchise when he went to prison. If had torn his ACL in 2007 and missed the whole season the results would have been the same because the organization traded Matt Schaub and picked up Joey Harrington. 2007 was a terrible season because we had no good back-up quarterback not because Vick was in prison. Brady tore his ACL in 2008 and Matt Cassell took the Patriots to the playoffs.

I love all the hate against Ryan – started from day 1, never had a losing season, playoffs 2 out 3 years, about to tie or pass marino as most wins in first 3 years, gave Falcons first back-to-back-back winning seasons. Falcons have won 70% of their games with an unbelievable record at home. And he gets called noodle arm and choke…… so funny, by morons that don’t know anything about football. My favorite is calling him boring, nothing boring about 12-2.

The Giants were averaging nearly 200 yards a game rushing the ball, with their 2-headed monster with Brandon (6′4 270lbs) Jacobs and with the change of pace faster back and the Eagles shut them down in the 1st game holding them to 39 rushing yards and on Sunday with 100 yards between the two of them.
Then Asante (shutdown) Samuels, who leads the NFL in picks, even after missing 3 games, didn’t get any throws on his side of the field. The Giants can pull that off because they have about 4 good receivers, but the Eagles were able to DOMINATE the Falcons because they shutdown the run and Asante shutdown Roddy, which meant weak armed Ryan was clueless.
So, the Giants were ranked 2nd “overrall” in defense and the Eagles scored 28 points in 8 minutes and 38 for the game. Just imagine how many points they will put on the Falcons soft defense.
That game will be over by the 1st quarter, just like the 1st meeting this season.

KBP,
You need to read the reason they traded Schaub. They traded him because of the piss poor two seasons that Vick had in 2005 and 2006 and Vick felt threatened by Schaub. The was one of the worst decision the Falcons made trying to make Vick feel at ease.
BUT>>>>without the Schaub trade the Falcons would be where they are today, with one of the best young QB’s in the game.
And for those fearing Vick coming to the Dome, why? I can guarantee this team is NOT the Giants, thank God. I would say the Falcons would beat them. Why, as the statement above said. This is a team that will wear down ANY defense. And although the Falcons D has holes, they don’t break, hence their #7 ranking in the NFL in points allowed, next to the Eagles #21 ranking. Plus the Eagles have lost their starting safety now for the season as well. Let Vick score 40, just so long the Falcons score 41 and that will be the way it would be.

I see there is a major race going on for the MVP with the front runners being Brady and Vick, but I see it this way. The Most Valuable Player award goes to the player most valuable to his team. Some are arguing about the Int’s or that Brady has 31 TD’s and Vick has 28 TD’s (3 less games). There are some that says give Brady the MVP, and Vick the Comeback or Most Improved. Neverthless, I look at the 2 like this, if I was starting a team who would I choose? Michael Vick- because the body of work he’s done far exceeds any other QB this year because his offensive line is the worst of all the good QB’s, thus lack of pass protection, and run blocking. Ryan even has big physical runners with his line, Brady, and Brees on most games great time in the pocket, as does the Manning brothers with Eli having a running game at his disposal.
So give me Vick- Thus my vote for MVP, cause sometimes the numbers don’t tell the whole story people.

Oh and let’s thank mister Kieth Brooking for playing out of position on 4-15 that let the Cardinals score at the end of the game.
At least he wasn’t in his third year like Vick who gave this performance in the NFC Championship game in 2004.
Michael Vick finished the game with a QB rating of only 46.5. He completed only 11-of-24 passes for 136 yards and 1 costly INT.

Rivers has had a very good season, but the lack of a signature win…special teams collapses…and most of all, they are not guaranteed a playoff appearance if the Chiefs win out….those are all the things that will keep Phillip Rivers from the MVP.
MVP of the league will come from a playoff team (not a rule but how things work in general given that there are several very deserving guys on playoff teams)
If the Chargers were a 11-12 win team, I’m pretty sure Rivers would be right there with Brady for MVP considerations.

# n 2007, statements were made by his father, Michael Boddie, about possible dogfighting activities in 2001. Boddie told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that around 2001, Vick was staging dogfights in the garage of the family’s home in Newport News and kept fighting dogs in the family’s backyard, including injured ones which the father nursed back to health. Boddie said his son had been urged to not engage in the activity, but continued. He stated: “This is Mike’s thing. And he knows it.”[40] Within days, Vick’s mother, Brenda Vick Boddie, told the Newport News Daily Press “There was no dogfighting (at our home). There were no cages.”[41]
# In early 2004, two men were arrested in Virginia for distributing marijuana. The truck they were driving was registered to Vick. Falcons coach Dan Reeves recalled that he lectured Vick at that time on the importance of reputation, on choosing the right friends, and on staying out of trouble for the good of his team.[42]
# On October 10, 2004, Vick and other members of his party, including employee Quanis Phillips, were at Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport on their way to board an AirTran flight. While they were passing through a security checkpoint, a security camera caught Phillips and Todd Harris picking up an expensive-appearing watch which belonged to Alvin Spencer, a security screener.[43] After watching the theft on a video tape, Spencer filed a police report. He claimed that Billy “White Shoes” Johnson, known as the Falcons’ “fixer”, interfered with the investigation.[42] Although Vick representatives declined to make him available for an Atlanta police inquiry, six days later Spencer got the watch back from them.[43]
# In March 2005, Sonya Elliott filed a civil lawsuit against Vick alleging she contracted genital herpes from him in the autumn of 2002 and that he failed to inform her that he had the disease.[44] Elliot further alleged that Vick had visited clinics under the alias “Ron Mexico” to get treatments and thus knew of his condition. On April 24, 2006, Vick’s attorney, Lawrence Woodward, revealed that the lawsuit had been settled out of court under undisclosed terms.[45] Many fans bought custom jerseys from NFL.com with Vick’s number 7 and the name “MEXICO” on the back. The NFL has since banned customizing jerseys with the name Mexico.[46]
# November 26, 2006 – After a loss to the New Orleans Saints in the Georgia Dome, in apparent reaction to fans booing, Vick made an obscene gesture at fans, holding up two middle fingers. He was fined $10,000 by the NFL and agreed to donate another $10,000 to charity.[47]
# January 17, 2007 – Vick surrendered a water bottle which had a hidden compartment to security personnel at Miami International Airport. “The compartment was hidden by the bottle’s label so that it appeared to be a full bottle of water when held upright,” police said. Test results indicated there were no illegal substances in the water bottle and Vick was cleared of any wrongdoing.[48] Vick announced that the water bottle was a jewelry stash box, and that the substance in question had been jewelry.[49]
# On April 24, 2007, Vick was scheduled to lobby on Capitol Hill, hoping to persuade lawmakers to increase funding for after-school programs. Vick missed a connecting flight in Atlanta on Monday to Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia. He later failed to show up for another seat booked for him later that evening. On Tuesday morning, he did not attend his scheduled appearance at the congressional breakfast where he was to be honored for his foundation’s work with after-school projects in Georgia and Virginia.[50] Vick’s mother Brenda accepted the award from the Afterschool Alliance.

The lead story on the Falcons is about someone being shot – and it links to AJC – nothing to do with sports of any kind, much less the Falcons.
You people at AJC are at least partially responsible for this – you let these POS haters into these places that are meant for fans of OUR team – you let them stir sh*t up and they ruin every chance to actually talk about football – do you Schultz, Bradley, D’O, do any of you have any self-respect or local spirit? November 26, 2006 – After a loss to the New Orleans Saints in the Georgia Dome, in apparent reaction to fans booing, Vick made an obscene gesture at fans, holding up two middle fingers. He was fined $10,000 by the NFL and agreed to donate another $10,000 to charity.[47]

It was even bad prior to dogfighting, glad those days are long gone.
In March 2005, Sonya Elliott filed a civil lawsuit against Vick alleging she contracted genital herpes from him in the autumn of 2002 and that he failed to inform her that he had the disease.[44] Elliot further alleged that Vick had visited clinics under the alias “Ron Mexico” to get treatments and thus knew of his condition.

On Tuesday morning, he did not attend his scheduled appearance at the congressional breakfast where he was to be honored for his foundation’s work with after-school projects in Georgia and Virginia.[50] Vick’s mother Brenda accepted the award from the Afterschool Alliance.

Vick-Jackson vs. McNabb-Owens
By Jeff McLane
Inquirer Staff Writer
There is a feeling that Michael Vick and DeSean Jackson evoke every time they create a big play out of thin air.
Fans simply shake their heads in wonder.
The last time that feeling permeated these parts, another Eagles quarterback-receiver duo was wowing Philadelphia on their way to the Super Bowl. Six years ago, Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens were arguably the greatest offensive twosome in franchise history.
But Vick and Jackson have raised that bar, at least in terms of excitement. And while a Super Bowl appearance like the one McNabb and Owens earned is still a long way off, Vick and Jackson, after their performances in Sunday’s immortal 38-31 win over the New York Giants, have Eagles fans thinking Super thoughts.
“There’s nothing that we can’t do with those playmakers on the offensive side of the ball,” Eagles safety Quintin Mikell said after Vick threw three touchdown passes and ran for another, and Jackson won the game with a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown.
“When they take over, they make plays, and that’s what you got to do to get to a championship.”
But it’s not just that Vick and Jackson assume ownership of a game or of a moment. It’s the dramatic flair with which they do it. It’s like Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino having a cup of coffee together in Heat – each player trying to one up the other.
“They’re making each other better,” Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel said. “One of them will make a big play, and it’s like the other guy is, ‘Well, look at what I can do.’ ”
Both Vick and Jackson struggled for almost three and a half quarters against the Giants. Each had a turnover. Each was taken out of his game. But something clicked midway through the fourth quarter after the Giants scored to go ahead, 31-10.
From that point on, Vick completed 6 of 11 passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns, and ran five times for 91 yards and a score. And Jackson put the cherry on top with his otherworldly 65-yard game-winning punt return as time expired.
“That man is one of the most incredible athletes I’ve ever seen in my life,” Samuel said of Jackson. “He doesn’t have the size, but [he has] the speed, the quickness, the agility, the hand-eye coordination.”

I dont think there are may people at all (other than extreamist connected to PETA or strongly sharing PETA values) who resent MV getting a second chance in the NFL and who don’t think his comeback and successful season is a great story.
Also, there are very few who feel that MV should still be in Atlanta. After what he did to the franchise, facing prision time, and questionable reinstatement into the NFL there is just no way Vick could have remained in Atlanta. Atlanta could not take that chance after the multiple off field incidences. The few and only people who could think otherwise, the overwhelming majority are also extreamist,… racial extreamist. it is the only way one could say that MV was done wrong or should still be with the Falcons.
Businesses can only go so far with employees who shead bad light on the company and fail to perform. As good an athelete as MV was and is he did let the business down with his off field actions and the final action cause him two years LOA with no assurance of returning. Falcons had to move on. Anyone who feels otherwise has the same problem that MV had when with the Falcons. Go grow up like MV did. I guarantee you MV does not feel not that the falcons did him wrong. You?
Same with Bret Farve 19 years ago… Same with Zach Meclenburg at UGA. Both atheletes who were let go because of their lack of focus and off field actions. We all know how BF turned around and grew up… My bet is the ZM will do the same at LSU next year. But they had to move on to another business (team) for their second chance at a career. We dont hear racial extreamist screaming and putting down the home team in these cases now do we.
Good luck to MV and his new vision, attitude, friends, and priorities. I wish him the best. But I am a Falcon fan …. GOOOOOO Falcons.

MV is a great athelete and seems to have really improved his passing and ability to read defenses. A more complete QB than when with the Falcons, which he admits is due to putting in more time studying the game.
However, I still feel that his long term effectiveness will be a big question for any team who has him as a starting QB. Due to his style, he is always going to be more prone to injury that say a MR, TB, or PM.
Same as when he was with ATL. The best pure athelete on the field, but we could not count on him to be on the field week in and week out. And not because he is not a tough dude… he is; just liklihood of injury is greater due to his style of play.
I might rather watch MV for entertainment and great plays, but I would rather have a MR, TB, or PM on my team and in control.

because he’s operating without an offensive line. Kolb would be toast by now. In fact, he lost his job because he was hurt.
Brady’s not working with name receivers but he gets solid protection. Most QB’s will play well if they get time. Brady, being great, plays great.
But Vick is doing all of this without time in the pocket. He’s taking a beating. But he’s making the throws. And he is, once again, the most exciting player in the NFL.

When this season is over, we will all have our excuses for why the NFL’s best quarterback in history did not win the MVP award in this, his finest season.
Leave aside the statistics. Tom Brady, the best winner in the NFL, the heart and soul of Bill Belichick’s NFL records and the best of all time, is bound to be lost in the many claims and counterclaims concerning his performance this year, and for that matter any year in the NFL.
Let’s not forget that Brady was honored with both the AP Male Athlete of the Year and NFL MVP in 2007:
“In 2004 and 2007, Brady was named ‘Sportsman of the Year’ by The Sporting News. He was also named the 2007 NFL MVP, as well as 2007 Male Athlete of the Year by the Associated Press, the first time an NFL player has been honored since Joe Montana won in 1990.”
Most of the current talk is about Michael Vick because of his play in his last game against the New York Giants. Call it whatever you want, but the fact is that the Giants were ahead by three touchdowns in large part due to Vick.
So when he rallies the troops back from a lead he had lost, when people make much of his “huge” talent and when players and others claim if he does not become the MVP, it will be racism, remember this: Vick is what his entire team is. Philadelphia has done little more than in years past. Their coach, running and passing along the margins, is the same as won so many times before.
Special? Perhaps in some ways. Forever tainted. Without a doubt. One will never be able to look at Vick without thinking of the dogs—pictures so grotesque and horrible one cannot even show them on TV. Vick as MVP?
We can also turn to the Philip Rivers fan fest full of former quarterbacks who laud his accuracy and excellence. The “anyone but Brady” crowd. As they have become more and more outdistanced by the obvious shortcomings of their choice, they turn to others.
The normal “turn-to” is the old standard Peyton Manning. They use the excuse that Manning is better because he has “never had a running game” or that he is no choker even though he cannot win the big games or much of anything that counts.
We have Atlanta’s current quarterback and other lesser lights. Yet we have to say, at the end, that they are just excuses.
Remember this.
Brady has managed to revive a group of youngsters and over-the-hill receivers into a team, meshing the best of each into a winner that is the odds-on favorite to win Brady a fourth Super Bowl ring. In an age of great quarterbacks, perhaps the best group ever, he stands out. With the best defenses in the age of defense, we have a quarterback with no interceptions in so long it seems like he will never be intercepted again.
Brady is a man whose leadership brings out the best in everyone—whose grace and gentlemanly ways make even the coldest times on the most frozen fields seem tender and warm.
If this is not the MVP this year, the NFL will become yet another NBA—rewarding the most noisy and obnoxious and anti-establishment, anti-team athletes, instead of the steady rock that makes us all wish for another game highlighting him on TV.
If you want someone who makes the league tick, who has the highest-rated games, who has fans looking for the next televised game profiling the man because he is the Man, you have to vote for Tom Brady. Any other vote would be pure insanity.

And wax…. a lot of the reason for the beating is that teams plan for his style of play and attack him. It is amazing to watch him dodge these defenses so frequently who are game planning to stop him. But he does get beat on a lot and it will catch up to MV and Eagles eventually. He’ll be out! Same as when with ATL. If he is lucky and puts together a long string games avoiding injury, they could go all the way.
Any QB is one play away from injury…
MV and his style of play put him in this “one play away” situation 12-15 times a game.
MR, TB, PM types/style put them in this situation 4-6 times per game.

To the Saints and Eagles fans——You guys are cracking me up!!!!! The fear you are giving is honestly priceless.
First of all, the Eagles cannot beat the Saints! The defense isn’t geared towards stopping the kind of ofense the Saints have. Also, it appears that both teams are going to have to play one more game then the Falcons. The Saints would have the easier path in that they would likely play either Seatle or St. Louis. The Eagles could end up playing Green Bay or the Giants in the first round. Either of those teams would be capable of defeating the birds. Yes, even the Giants who just blew a 21 point fourth quarter lead! Let’s face it, the Giants had the Eagles defeated and, if they see them again, will probably finish the job!
Secondly, the Falcons will be playing at home!!!! Even if Mike Vick gets to the dome there is no reason to believe that fans will be cheering for him and not the home town team! Even if they do, I don’t think it will matter. These Falcons have been showing the character of a champion!!!! They don’t give up, they play hard and they get the job done. How can Vick work his magic if he doesn’t have the ball? The Eagles have been slashed against the run this season! It’s just a statement of fact that at some point these Eagles are going to have to rely on their defense. Is it good enough when it counts the most? The Falcons defense has 12 wins showing that they are good enough. Wins against the Saints, Packers, Ravens and Bucs (all teams with winning records for those neophytes that want to say Altanta hasn’t beaten good teams in the last three years).
Saints fans are just as foolish. We know the Saints are not as good as they were a year ago. Just ask Cleveland or Arizona whose rookie quarterbacks took the Saints to school! Good teams beat teams that are not as good as they are. In New Orleans they have failed to live up to that standard!
And Joe Tess, you are a moron! When Peria stopped Justin Forsett on third down to kill the Seahawks drive, were you calling him a bust then? Perhaps people call you a moron because you don’t know how to spell, write or think?
Matt “Choke” Ryan—–Why would you compare Mike Vick with Matt Ryan when this is Vick’s 10th year in the league? And in those ten years he has two post season victories? I’ll tell you what, if Ryan goes 10 years and has only two playoff victories then I’ll start calling him the greatest quarterback ever, just as you do for Vick. Going by the logic you use for Vick the Mark Rippen (not sure if that is the correct spelling) should have won at least won NFL MVP award! Hell, he’s even won a Superbowl!!!! Actually, that is not a fair comparison as Rippen had won more playoff games in his first ten years! Maybe we should compare him to that other great quarterback, Chris Chandler? Nope, Chris got the Falcons to the Superbowl as well and had won more then two playoff games in the process.

Brady has completed more passes, has a higher passing percentage, 11 more touchdowns, 1 less interception, the highest QB rating in the league, averages more yards a game, completed more passes for 20 yards, more passes for 40 yards, a better 1st down percentage, 58 more first downs, the best record in the nfl with one of the worst defenses and a crew of no-name skill players surrounding him. If you think the AP voting will be close then you are out of your mind. Unless Brady is horrible in the last two games and vick does the impossible its a no-brainer. In face, statistically, Vick is 3rd behind phillip rivers. (although i’d put him at second) And those trying to sneak ryan into this pointless debate… please stop. He has the 13th best passer rating in the league and one of the best recivers in football to throw to, and plays in a horrible conference. dont make this personal, dont make this racial, make it logical. Brady is the overwhelming mvp and results will reflect that.

First off, Vick is 9-2 not 10-1 this year. The Eagles have 10 wins total and the most impressive came with Kolb at QB against the Falcons. Vick lost as the starter against the Redskins in Philly and against the Bears. You don’t get a free pass for a loss by getting yourself hurt scrambling when your team is down 2 scores.
Second, if Bow Wow thinks Vick not getting MVP is racist then he must think the statistics are racist too, since Brady is well above Vick’s numbers. Don’t give me this “but Vick got hurt” garbage. Part of what makes an NFL player valuable is his ability to stay on the field.
And for those claiming white people in Atlanta didn’t respect Vick for being black – that is laughable. I loved the guy, but he completed 55% of his passes and has even admitted he didn’t dedicate himself while in Atlanta to becoming the best quarterback he could be.
The common defense of Vick was that he “just won” so the mediocre passing stats in ATL didn’t matter…well guess what? Ryan “just wins” more than Vick ever did in Atlanta. We never won more than 11 games in a regular season with Vick, and the second best season was 9 freaking wins.

Simple solution. Since Vick missed the first part of the season, disqualify him from MVP but make him the hands-down Comeback Player of the Year. MVP would then come down to Brady and Ryan. I love Roddy and he’s a great player but WRs just aren’t seen as that valuable. The only one to evey win an MVP was Jerry Rice. Roddy ain’t quite in that category.

I’ll tell you this.. NBC cannot stand the Falcons. They are the most bias Network their is in sports… When Mike Vick played for us they would give us low blows whenever possible, Now that he is playing for a higher market Northeastern team and has all of this contraversy they are eating it up and pushing him for MVP. Matt Ryan deserves it soooo.. There would not be a better story in the NFL. It would match the New Orleans Saints of last year. All the Falcons have been through since the Vick incident with the Franchise almost going completely under. What Arthur Blank, Thomas Dimitroff and Mike Smith have done to rebound this franchise. I see us not only going to the Super Bowl but winning it. What a close team and unselfish team that we have. Go Falcons and MVP goes to Matt Ryan deservedly soo…

So all you so-called STAT guys pull up the numbers and prove me wrong Saints 100% only have lost 1 game in the last 2 years and that was Sunday vs the Ravens.

Yep, it says a lot… about the city. You’re probably right that Ryan isn’t the most popular QB in ATL, but he’s a landslide favorite outside the perimeter. Guess where all the money’s at? (Hint: we never bought the $10 seats. Those went to the Vick fans).

I have always thought of the MVP award in terms of how dependant on the individual the team is and how much impact that one player has on the teams overall success. With that criteria in mind I have to say it should go to Vick. But it is very close. Without Brady, where would NE be. I don’t know but I think they do have a great system as they have proven over the years. That works against Brady a little but he still executes extremely well in that system. Philadelphia would be a mediocre team without Vick. Vick, as we all know changes the entire game on his own like no other player can or has. Notwithstanding, I don’t give Vick all the credit for the comeback against the Giants as I do the stupidity of the Giants and the incredible play of DeSean Jackson. I do give Vick credit for making the Eagles a great team. I don’t think they would be anywhere close without him.
I am a huge Falcons fan but Ryan and White in my opinion don’t meet the criteria. They are both great together but one without the other may not be as good. The Falcons are the epitome of a team. They are great as a team. Have great pieces that work together. For example, the offensive line is great as a unit. Individually they probably wouldnt be that good. Thus, Vick best fits the criteria of being so important as to lift his team to a much higher level.

Somebody explain to me please WHY Matt Ryan is NOT a legitimate MVP candidate. Does anybody think that without him the Flacons would be anywhere near this good? Anybody remember 2007? With Matt Ryan the Falcons have the best record in the NFL, are about to lock up the number one seed in the NFC (which I believe the Eagles play in) and have won 8 straight games. Ryan will at least tie Marino’s win record in the first 3 years and if you want to talk stats, Ryan has 25 passing TD’s and 3300+ passing yards which are both more than the “amazing MV7″ while still having 2 games to play!
Oh, and the Vick lovers keep bringing up Vick’s comeback (Giant’s collapse) but Matt Ryan has engineered 4th quarter comeback wins against NO, SF, Baltimore, TB, etc. The only reason the Eagles NEEDED to come back from 21 points is because the Giants were owning them through 3 quarters and then laid back thinking the game was over.
For the record, I think Brady is hands down the MVP mostly because all of his stats are better than Vick’s or Ryan’s and he’s had a much tougher schedule. Vick should and will be comeback player of the year and I love the ring of Superbow MVP for Ryan!

A summary of what A-hole Trent Dilfer said about the Falcons and the Saints. Taken from ESPN.com He pretty strongly said the Atlanta Falcons are not the best team in the NFL. He went on to compare them to the 2003 Kansas City Chiefs, who went 13-3 in the regular season, but promptly got bounced in the playoffs.
Then, to put the star on the top of the tree, Dilfer went on to say the Falcons are not indestructible at home. As a matter of fact, Dilfer said he thinks the New Orleans Saints can come into the Georgia Dome on Monday night and win, and he wasn’t done there. Dilfer also said the Saints could come back to the Georgia Dome in the playoffs and knock off the Falcons.
Here is the link to that interview/video: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5943160
(Note: Pretty strong stuff coming from the ONLY quarterback to win a Superbowl and still lose his starting job the very next season). What a tool he is. My reaction is this, Trent has pretty much said we would lose several other times this year (Baltimore, Bengals, Packers, Saints, and Tampa Bay) and look how that turned out. So much for “expert opinions”. Go Falcons.!

When I think of Vick I think of all those talk show host who couldn’t get enough of putting him down. It made them feel righteous to lay it on the man, made them feel the power of making him feel small. Some guys in the bush leagues taking cheap shots at a fallen player like he had been caught with a 12 year old in bed, instead of being one of maybe a dozen ever locked up for dog fighting, not exactly on the level of the drug wars. I was thinking back then this isn’t right, this guy is not finished like this jock sniffing hanger ons are trying to make him. I said so every chance I could. You could see this story coming almost like it was fiction. What worries me about all that is I wonder how much of it is fiction. What a best seller for the NFL and nobody not even that fat guy doing the 680 morning sport talk show, that knows more music than sports, can be that dumb in real life, he would need someone to care for him 24/7. Suppose we have been conned by a consortium of mass PR men parading around sport broadcasters. This stuff is not like real news where you can’t make up outcomes, the NFL is a monopoly. Next thing you know we got wrestling staged as football. Like I said I am not even sure some of these idiots on radio have the sense to know they are part of the plot, they probably believe the Vick was dead. But it sure puzzled me where all that was coming from and I predicted this two years ago. Not even the prison experience was real. No one contradicted any of the misinformation. He was in jail for five years on some reports, no one every mentioned the drug school and the year off, didn’t fit the purpose, or you have thousands of underachieving reporters mailing it in. The facts have always been there and no one took the trouble of figuring it out. Pittbulls the same ones that kill children in this town every year were being placed in the position of innocent animal, not one voice of opposition to this foolishness. The deer we shot every year are more innocent that these devil dogs.

Why don’t u ask Jaws, or Hodges what they think…the freaking real NFL guys….not some bitter QB who is probably just resenting the fact that the Falcons beat both his former teams (Bucs and Ravens).
It’ll be great when Dilfer has to sit there and eat crow next monday night with his “analysis” of the game at the Dome.

Vick is an amazing athlete and it is too bad that he elected not to give the Falcons 100% but found the darkside and drugs more appealing than giving his talent to the Falcons and their fans at that time. I still can only assume that it is the color of his skin that caused many of the fans in the Dome to cheer more for Vick than their home team last year vs the Eagles. I was embarrassed for our team, our city, and the people of Atlanta. This man had a $100,000,000 contract, sure buy a yacht, sail around the Carribean during off season, smoke a blunt from time to time, have some ladies at my beck and call. But come training camp be all business, be a leader. And that he was not. MVP? Let the fans in PA voice that opionion but I am a Falcons fan and MV7 did not care about any of us……or did you forget he flashed you the #1 for your support. If you are an Eagles fan, fine, wear their colors and cheer your heart out, but DO NOT COME TO OUR DOME WEARING THE FALCONS COLORS THEN CHEER FOR THE OPPOSITIION. I swear it broke my heart more to see that than the loss against Dallas in the 1980 season.

According to Larry and Vick is a Killer most of us po’ black folks are glad Mike is stomping on white people. Can I be happy because while he was in Atlanta he was the most exciting player in Atlanta sports history since D. Wilkins? Can I be happy for him since when he was in prison most analyst thought if he every played again he would be a running back or receiver since he misssed two years of football (although Chris Redmon was applauded as a quarterback even though he had been out of football for a couple of years). Can I enjoy the fact that when he was released many NFL teams would not sign him, but now regreting not signing him ( a long list of teams without a qb). Furthermore, when people make general statements like that .. I just say they don’t associate with African Americans so they lump all of us in one category.

you look at the stats including rushing yards and rushing tds and consider that vick has played 3 fewer games and then you realize brady ain’t got Sh*t on vick.

Vick accounts for more yards/game and tds/ game than brady.

I cannot stomach going to the farmers market watching live fish getting their heads cut off, or live lobsters being boiled to death. I do not agree with Mike involvment of those crimes either. Surprising, as a black man, I have never seen a dog fight – nor wish to see one! Yet, as I was in a sports bar at Stonecrest mall, more than half of the televisions were on the Philly game and about 60% of the people were cheering for Philly. If the Falcons play the Eagles, the city will be divided… something the national media downplays. I like the Falcons, and they are my home team, but I will cheer for the Eagles!

As a Falcons season ticket holder, I cannot believe what I am reading. You take Tom Brady off the Patriots, and they are garbage. Same could be said for Vick in Philly and Matty Ice in Atlanta. Last season when we played the Eagles, I could not believe what was going on in the Dome. It was painful to be a part of it. It had to do with Vick coming back for the first time, Falcons being out of the playoff picture at the time, Ryan and Turner being out, along with Jenkins. What happened last year at the Dome (people cheering for Vick) will not happen again. Eagles fans will cheer for Vick, but not Falcons fans. I always put Falcons first and always will. No 1 player is bigger than the team, period!!! You mean to tell me if we get to see Eagles at the Dome, with a TRIP TO THE SUPER BOWL ON THE LINE, that the Falcons fans would cheer on Vick??? You have got to be kidding me. People, Falcons are 12-2, tied for the best record in the NFL. Sure seems like 98, doesn’t it??? Enjoy the ride. Ever since we drafted Matt Ryan and got the complete overhaul of the team, WE HAVE 32 WINS PEOPLE!!! Only New England and Indianapolis have more in the entire NFL!!! We finally have a team that we can be proud of, a team that is going to be consistently good for the next 10 years and all we do is bitch and moan about a player who last played for us 4 years ago??? He is on the Eagles roster now and like Arthur Blank said, ” I wish Michael Vick well, except when he plays the Falcons”. If Arthur Blank moved on from the past, well, don’t you think we all should as well??? I know I have. GO FALCONS, 12-2!!! RISE UP!!!

Nobody else is even close to that level. Sorry, but a QB and a WR in a run-first, ball control scheme are not MVPs. If there is an MVP candidate on the Falcons, it’s Michael Turner.

For the record when I lived in Jville there was a legend about the next great football player. He went on to a University and lead his team to three victories over my beloved Bulldogs. He now is in the NFL and I am one of his biggest fans… oh by the way the National media thinks he will never be a pro quarterback, but I am pulling for him and I am a fan of his. He is white if you didn’t know. Lastly, the numbers are closer than you think. If you add passing and rusbing yds Brady 3578 to 3368. TD’s 32 -28. Again, this is in three fewer games and playing only half of two others. He is 8-1 when he has started and finished a game

Vick Supporter, I support Michael Turner fully, I actually have 2 of his jerseys. You have to admit though, Turner was shut down against Green Bay. Matt Ryan engineered a game winning drive to beat the Packers, right after they tied it. I told people in the stands, too much time left on the clock for Matt Ryan. Against Ravens he was shut down and Matt Ryan drove us 80 yards in less than a minute to pull out a victory against a dominant Ravens D. Same thing for the 49ers game, a minute left on the clock, down by 1, and what happens??? Matt Ryan leads us down the field to kick a game winning fg. Michael Turner is a huge part of this team, as is Roddy White, Tony G, entire Offensive line, etc and in the last 6 games or so Michael Turner is making a strong case to be a team MVP, but without Matt Ryan and his leadership, this team wouldn’t be even close to 12 wins…. Just my humble opinion…

“Look at statistics. Look at results. How is he not in top three? Matt Cassell? Seriously? Come on man, you’re smarter than that.”
I don’t think Cassel is an MVP candidate either for the same reason — he plays in a run-first offense. The Chiefs and Falcons both predicate their offense around the power running game.
But if you just want to make a statistical comparison between Cassel and Ryan:
QB rating: Cassel 96.2, Ryan 90.5
TD:turnover ratio (I’m including fumbles and rush TDs): Cassel 24:6, Ryan 25:12
Yards per attempt: Cassel 7.0, Ryan 6.5
Completion percentage: Ryan 62.7, Cassel 59.3
Passing yards per game: Ryan 237.2, Cassel 206.7
I’d say that’s pretty much even; if anything, Cassel has done more in fewer pass attempts than Ryan has.

You’re basing two bad games on Turner on Ryan being the MVP of the league? Cmon man. Ryan is on the list, which is saying something, but he’s not top 3. They make him top 3 because of a number of things that have nothing to do with football (and I don;t mean race)

With all that being said, the Falcons are at worst the 2nd best team in the league, and it’s understandable that the QB on the team tied for the best record gets MVP consideration. It happens every year, regardless of who the QB is. In my opinion though, the end-of-season award the Falcons should be getting is coach of the year. Mike Smith has done a phenomenal job with this team, and to me no other coach is even close.

Turner is actually one of my favorite players on the Falcons and I gotta chance to talk to him couple times while he was with his kid at the movies… Very nice guy, down to earth… I just feel like that based on my original post, We won 32 games in the last 3 years, and this year is not even over yet…. We never had that good of a winning percentage for 3 years in our team history, ever!!! Matt Ryan and Michael Turner go hand in hand, they complement each other. I’m just saying Matt Ryan has great leadership skills that we never seemed to have before. You can tell by other player’s interviews and stuff…. They just have faith in him when the game is on the line that he is gonna get it done… That’s all I’m saying… Most important position in football is a QB and we sure as hell have a good one…

Vick Supporter — You’ve got revisionist history. Let me tell you how it actually went down. When some in this town were criticizing Vick for not having better passing numbers early in his career, I was writing: “He’s winning. He’s making plays to win games. That’s what counts the most.” Then, when he started sliding in terms of wins and losses, it was Vick (and Jim Mora) who said: “But look! The stats are getting better!” And I called them on it because everybody could see thing weren’t getting done like they were before, and he was losing. That’s the truth, sir.

Would Brady be having a year like that with King Dunlap as his blind side offensive tackle?
Brady has, if not the best, at least one of the top 3 offensive lines in the NFL. And he has one of the best coaches in history.
And it’s not like DeSean Jackson was catching 80 yard TDs every game with Kevin Kolb behind center.

The Eagles under Kolb barely squeaked by the 49ers (thanks to a defensive TD), got blown out by the Titans, put up a grand total of 12 points against the Redskins, and were well on their way to getting blown out by the Packers until Vick came in and nearly led them all the way back.
And Kolb is actually pretty good.

OK, let’s look at some stats for DeSean Jackson.
In the game against the 49ers, with Kolb under center: 2 catches, 24 yards.
Against Washington, in the game when Vick got knocked out in the 1st quarter: 3 catches, 19 yards.
Against Atlanta, the game Kolb won: 1 catch for a 34 yard TD.
Against Green Bay, Jackson had zero catches for zero yards until Vick replaced Kolb.
The only game in which Vick played and Jackson was that much of a nonfactor was the game against Chicago. And like I said, Kolb is actually pretty good. He could start for at least 12 or 13 teams in the league.

Reason 1 Vick Failed as a Falcon
n March 2005, Sonya Elliott filed a civil lawsuit against Vick alleging she contracted genital herpes from him in the autumn of 2002 and that he failed to inform her that he had the disease.[44] Elliot further alleged that Vick had visited clinics under the alias “Ron Mexico” to get treatments and thus knew of his condition. The NFL has since banned customizing jerseys with the name Mexico.[46

Test results indicated there were no illegal substances in the water bottle and Vick was cleared of any wrongdoing.[48] Vick announced that the water bottle was a jewelry stash box, and that the substance in question had been jewelry.[49]

On April 24, 2007, Vick was scheduled to lobby on Capitol Hill, hoping to persuade lawmakers to increase funding for after-school programs.

On August 24, Vick filed plea documents with the federal court. He pleaded guilty to “Conspiracy to Travel in Interstate Commerce in Aid of Unlawful Activities and to Sponsor a Dog in an Animal Fighting Venture”. He admitted to providing most of the financing for the operation and to participating directly in several dog fights in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and South Carolina. He admitted to sharing in the proceeds from these dog fights. He further admitted that he knew his colleagues killed several dogs who did not perform well. He admitted to being involved in the destruction of 6–8 dogs, by hanging or drowning. The “victimization and killing of pit bulls” was considered as aggravating circumstances that led prosecutors to exceed the federal sentencing guidelines for the charge. He denied placing any side bets on the dogfights.[53]

The initial filing, which was incomplete, listed assets of less than $50 million and debt of $10 million to $50 million. The seven largest creditors without collateral backing their claims are owed a total of $12.8 million. The three biggest unsecured creditors are Joel Enterprises Inc., owed $4.5 million for breach of contract; Atlanta Falcons, owed $3.75 million for “pro-rated signing bonus;” and Royal Bank of Canada, owed $2.5 million for a loan.[73]

Richard, Alex, MV7 and any others to whom this applies ,,,Jeff got it right on his top 4 in the MVP race. It has nothing to do with being an Atlanta fan, dogfighting, or race and has everything to do with performance (not only of the individuals but of their teams). Tom Brady and Michael Vick are definitely in the lead because of their performance and value to their teams, BUT Matt Ryan and Roddy White also deserve to be in the discussion for the very same reason. Matt Ryan is playing like Brett Favre (the Green Bay version) with his ability to come through in the clutch and Roddy White is no doubt the most valuable receiver in the league. I think most other players and their respected teams aren’t playing at the same level as these 4, and don’t deserve to be a part of the conversation.

I don’t like Mike Vick. He did his time, etc., but don’t think doing time for what he did to man’s best friend taught him what he hadn’t learned by age six, and probably never will understand. But the question was about football and MVPs. In that context, I think Vick comes out ahead of Matt Ryan — this year. Brady has been formidable for awhile, but that doesn’t mean his value has diminished. I’d say it’s a toss-up between Brady and Vick, and Vick wins.
Matt Ryan’s value is huge, and I’d compare it with Brady’s. That value will be much more obvious in the next few years.

A 112-page, court-approved document serves as Vick’s “reorganization plan.” It was uncovered by ESPN legal analyst Lester Munson.
Among the facts Munson discovered in the plan:
• Two-thirds of every dollar Vick earns goes to creditors and taxes.
• The rest of the money is strictly controlled. Think of it as an allowance.
• Vick can spend $4,250 per month on rent and utilities and $472 per month on a car. His mother, who was on Vick’s payroll during his headier, pre-prison days, can receive $2,500 per month.
• Other obligations Vick owes include mortgages, child support, fees for his agent (who gets $800,000 through 2015) and for his tax lawyers (who will eventually receive a total of $2.6 million). The allowance does allow for Vick to pay $1,355 per month for private school for the two children he has with his fiancee, Kijafa Frink. (Munson calls it a “rare bit of extravagance.”)
• His creditors stand to receive $12 million through 2015, provided Vick continues to receive a multi-million dollar salary.
[Photo: Philadelphia paper's controversial Vick headline]
Munson also writes that before Vick filed for bankruptcy, he frantically gave away $5 million to family and friends so that creditors couldn’t get to it. The court-appointed trustee is trying to recover that money, which was given to Vick’s friends, family and the mothers of Vick’s children. This is being done via a lawsuit, meaning that the man in charge of Michael Vick’s money is also suing Michael Vick’s family. (Though Munson says a judge will likely rule in the trustee’s favor, recovering the money will be a much more difficult matter.)
There have been countless reports about Vick’s financial woes since he first got into legal trouble for running an illegal dogfighting ring, but Munson’s story is the clearest picture yet of what Vick still has to go through. To watch a broadcast of Vick’s games and hear announcers rave about his recovery, you’d think everything was behind him. This document says otherwise.
The more money Vick makes, the more money goes to creditors. A salary under $2.5 million would force Vick to pay 25 percent. That percentage jumps to 40 if Vick signs a deal worth $10 million or more per season.

You don’t keep up with news much huh?
RICHMOND, Virginia–Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick Friday admitted he conspired to run a dogfighting ring and helped kill dogs, and was swiftly banned indefinitely by the National Football League.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell wrote to Vick on Friday to inform him that he will remain suspended without pay until further notice.
“Your admitted conduct was not only illegal, but also cruel and reprehensible,” Goodell wrote. “Your team, the NFL, and NFL fans have all been hurt by your actions.”
Goodell’s move came hours after Vick submitted a plea agreement in which the 27-year-old player admitted that he shared responsibility for the deaths of six to eight dogs who had not performed up to expectations in fights.
The grisly descpription of the dogs’ deaths by drowning and hanging in the indictment of Vick and his co-defendants sparked outrage across the country.
According to the plea agreement documents filed in US District Court, where Vick is to formally enter his plea on Monday, Vick bankrolled the operation but didn’t wager on the fights.
Vick pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to operate a dogfighting enterprise across state lines, which carries a potential sentence of up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,00 and up to three years probation.

Tiebreakers
December 21st, 2010
9:42 pm
It seems like Vick and Brady are about even, so maybe we need some kind of tiebreaker? As far as stats go, it seems to me a fair tiebreaker is to compare their performances in games against common opponents. Both teams played the NFC North and Indianapolis (the Eagles are still due to play the Vikings, so I will exclude them from this analysis). Against the common opponents Vick has thrown for a 1010 yards with a 63.24% completion percentage, 6 TDs, 1 INT, and an average passer rating of 99.45. He also ran for 258 yards on 38 attempts with 1 rushing TD. Those are solid stats, but the Eagles went 2-2. Now against those same opponents, Brady’s passing stats were: 1059 yards, 70.94 completion percentage, 10 TD, 0 INT, and a passer rating of 126.25. Just for the sake of completion, Brady had 8 rushing attempts for -1 yards and 0 TDs. New England also went 4-0. So Brady’s passing stats are clearly superior, but Vick’s rushing is better (duh!) and he overall had more yards (1268 to 1059) but fewer total TDs (10 vs 7). Overall I think the stats are comparable but the Pats won all the games so I have to give Brady the edge.
Another way of looking breaking the tie is to compare the opponents each QB has faced. Outside of the common opponents, Brady has face several good defenses: the Jets (twice), the Steelers, the Ravens, the Chargers, the Browns and the Dolphins. Including the common opponents, Brady has faced 8 of the top 10 defenses by yardage (he did not face the Giants or the Saints) and 8 of the top 10 scoring defenses (the Saints and the Falcons are the other two). Against these defenses Brady was 9-2. As far as top 10 defenses, Vick has played the Giants (twice) along with NFC North teams (Atlanta has a top 1 scoring defense, but Vick did not play them). Vick has gone 4-2 against top 10 defenses. In terms of opponents we can also consider playoff bound opponents. To simplify things, I will use the teams that would make the playoffs if the season ended today. Vick has played the Bears, the Giants (twice), and the Colts (Vick did not play against Atlanta). Against these teams, he was 3-1. Brady has played the Bears, the Colts, the Steelers, the Ravens, and the Jets (twice). He was 5-1. So Brady played more playoff teams and tougher defenses and still has a better record and similar stats overall.
Against common opponents, the two QBs have played at similar levels. Brady has passed better, but Vick has the a running game to make up for it. However, Brady’s team has done much better against common opponents. Furthermore, Brady has faced tougher competition over the course of the season. So I would have to give him the MVP.

you are talking about what he admitted to and I am telling you what law he violated, two different things.
there wasn’t a federal law against dogfighting at the time so he couldn’t plead guilty to a law that did not exist.

Michael Turner is the MVP of the Falcons, so its laughable what Schultz tried to do there. However, no other QB does what Vick did in less than 8 minutes on Sunday. So face it Falcon fans, the last team you want to face in the playoffs is the one team that has consistently kicked the Falcons behinds for the past decade………oh, except that ONE time…but then again, the QB for the Falcons that ONE time, is the QB for the Eagles now. LOL

“Furthermore, Brady has faced tougher competition over the course of the season. ”
Actually this is not entirely true. If you look at the games Vick has played in full vs. the games Brady has played in full, Brady’s opponents are only two or three wins better than Vick’s opponents. The difference between their strengths of schedule is small enough as to not be statistically significant.

Not sure that what Vicks shortcomings in Atlanta were should have anyhting to do with this year. When I look at contributions by different players for their teams it is hard to dismiss what Vick has done in Philly. Yes Kolb is a good QB, and with the receivers they have and McCoy in the back field, he would indeed have impressive stats. However Phiily’s O-line is terrible. Everyone saw what the Packers did in week one against Philly. Against teams that are able to put up consistent pass rushes such as NY Giants, and Indy….there is no way without Vick the Eagles win. Without Vick Philly is a decent team fighting for a wildcard birth. It is hard to argue against Brady, but I think Brady plays behind a line that gives him time, and allows him to make plays down the field. He does not have the weapons that Vick has, but in their system he does not need them. I think Ryan has played well this year, but not deserving a MVP, however I think he should be in the running for the probowl just behind Vick and Brees. Not saying he is not MVP material, just to me he is not the most valuable player in the league, not even on his team this year. Would love Roddy to get more mention than he has gotten. Since I have seen him play every week, and seen him take over games (Cincy and first one against Tampa). He has been targeted more than any other receiver in the NFL, ask Matt Ryan who he thinks the MVP is. He has not been as big the past few weeks, not that he is not playing as well, but Jenkins and HD 83 have stepped up and are playing better. I do not think Manning is in the running this year, he is great, but I am not sure that he deserves a nod over Vick, Brady, White, or for that matter even Rivers. San Diego may not make the playoffs, but if it were not for Rivers they would be fighting for a first overall pick in April. Everyone has been quick to point out Manning has lost Clark, Collie, B. White at times, and 3 of Indys top four RBs…but he has still had his premier receiver and his vertial threat. Someone mentioned Polamalu, and he definitely deserves mention. He took that game away from Atlanta in Pittsburgh. The interception of Ryan late in that game was not a bad throw, but more of a great play. Polamalu may be the smartest defensive player in the league. He is a master at disguising his blitzes, and coverages. I wish Vick all the best, and would be happy for him if he makes it back to the NFC championship game. I think what he did was terrible, but he paid his debt to society, grew up, and this year is not just one of the best QBs in the league, but one of its best players. I would be very happy to see him be voted league MVP, and I feel he is deserving of the honor. However in my heart, and I tend to be one of those to vote with my heart, I hope the league has recognized what Roddy has done for our team is deserving of some deep consideration for league MVP.

To those who keep comparing Brady and Vicks passing numbers and saying Brady is hands down the MVP:
1. Those numbers are pretty close for someone who has missed 4 games
2. Brady will probably always have better passing stats, but vick has almost 3k passing yards AND 600 RUSHING YARDS WITH 9 TDS. He is doing it in more than one way.
3. Who had the Eagles being this good, with that lousy defense, after first hearing vick would get the start. No one.
4. MOST VALUABLE PLAYER- take the players out of the team and think about the end results. The eagles would be outside looking in on the playoffs, the Pats would be close because their defense has played great, and the falcons would be shit without either ryan or white… It should go Vick White Brady Ryan

Its is rediculous that people hav eto throw down the race card Tim. I am a white mind, but can see where a valid argument can be made for Vick or Brady. It is apparent how ignorant many people on this blog are on both sides. No one can make an educated or valid point, so they like to insult Ryan or Vick depending on which side of the line they are on. If want the “stats” to back it up, then go ahead and hand the MVP to Brady…he is the man with the best stats. I think MVP is muchg bigger than who has the best numbers however. Who contributes the most to thier teams success. Hey anyone could argue that Vick or Brady either one have a pretty good supporting cast, and if Ryan is so terrible than Roddy must be really good. Or how about Rivers or Polamalu. I think a great deal has to do with exposure, and many coaches, writers, and fans have had the privaledge to see Vick and Brady play. It seems to me htere are many that are pulling for Vick for no other reason than his race, and there are those who are rooting against him because of his race. However I think it would be ignorant for anyone to say all black people want him to win because he is black or all white people want him not to win because he is black. I can say as a true sports fan, who can look beyond the color of ones skin, and what they have accomplshed on the field..I can say Vick deserves the MVP…however he is not the only qualified candidate.
Oh and all you Ryan bashers, I hope none of you have ever classified yourselves as Falcons fans. I have been critical of him at times, but because right now he is leading the team I have loved since I was a kid I want him to do well.
The Dogfighter returns, I was not arguing that Ryan was better than Rodgers. There stats are very close actually. Ryan has more yardage, more TD’s, less interceptions than Rodgers. Rodgers has a better completion percentage and a better QB rating. Ryan makes a little quicker decisions than Rodgers, and Rodgers has better wheels than Ryan. They have about equal talent, and their level of competion is about the same this year. So it is hard to say that Ryan is “not” in the discussion for pro bowl. I can see where you would maybe give Rodgers the edge, but I do not see where anyone can come right out and say Ryan has not had a pro bowl type year.

Saints/Falcons is ALWAYS a tight game. These teams don’t like each other and they know each other very well. Anybody expecting a blowout either way on Monday is gonna be disappointed.
My prediction is Falcons 31-28. Turner will have over 100 and Ryan will throw for 3 TD’s. Brees will get his 300 yards and 3 TD’s but will throw a costly int to Grimes at some point and Matty Ice will drive them down the field in the end for the win. Mark it down folks….

Its amazing that MV continues to have supporters in a city that he stuck his middle finger up at, literally. While all of you worked to buy his jerseys and pay for season tickets, how did he pay you back, by building a dog fighting enterprise and not dedicating to the game, he even admits that. Its mindboggling to me that when MV was headed to Leavenworth, everyone thought it would take years for the FALCONS to become contenders and here we sit at 12-2 and I believe built to contend year after year, and if we are one game away from a Superbowl appearance, you have some who will cheer for the other team, PATHETIC ON SO MANY LEVELS.

Mike Vick and Matt Ryan are both undeniably good football players and, because they played the same position for the same team, comparisons are inevitable. Vick is unquestionably faster and probably has the stronger arm. Ryan has proven to be slightly more accurate overall, and clearly has the edge as the better field general. As players on the field, it is easy to understand why either player would have devoted fans. But Vick has many haters because of his off-field indiscretions, especially his illegal cruelty to animals. Ryan, on the other hand, has a squeaky-clean off-field record. So what I don’t understand is why “MV7 for MVP,” and “Reality Check,” etc. DESPISE this man so much. What the hell has he ever done to bring so much hatred upon himself? The answer, of course, is absolutely NOTHING. These vile bloggers who detest the man obviously have some serious issues.

Lets’ reframe the debate: Which QB would you most like to have leading your team into an 18 game season next year ( Brady, Vick or Ryan etc ). If it was just one or two games I might pick Vick ( or Rivers ) but for an entire season it would have to be Brady followed closely by Ryan ( or Manning ). The point is that Vick is a phenom and he has had a tremendous 10 games and he has made a huge difference for Philadelphia but to me the MVP has to be more than a short term wonder. If i were a betting guy — I’d put my money on Brady to win the Super Bowl because he is the Most Valuable Player in the league.

I think Tom Brady will win, but you have to consider when you talk about stats, Vick’s rushing accomplishments, that makes the race so much closer. And if he would have played the whole year, his stats could be just as good as Brady’s and he could have rushed for 1,000 yards. If you think stats Vick has the upper hand

Here are some stats that no one is talking about because it makes Philly and the Pats look weak. Team offensive scoring Pats #1, Philly #2, Atl #5, BUT, scoring defense Atl #4, Philly # 19, and Pats # 28. the most important stat is wins and losses, but the second important stat is points scored and the Falcons are best in the league when you factor in both.

Just give it to Brady,no one has out performed him this season….. 7 straight games without a Pick…. and against quality teams in blizzards…..thats amazing. lets not forget Ryans slow start…could have been 1 and 5 as easily as 5-1….. if those games where 2 min shorter they would have been L’s

@ supes…football starts at the line of scrimmage. give Vick Tom Brady’s line and then we can talk switching skill players.

I can’t help but wonder if the city of Atlanta (generally speaking) would be so forgiving if Michael Vick was white. Something tells me we wouldn’t have this conversation because he probably wouldn’t have been forgiven so easily, and even if he was, it would be doubtful that there would be this level of backing for a player who is a convicted felon. I completely agree, he deserves every comeback award possible, but isn’t the award for MVP supposed to go to the all-around player? You can’t get voted in to office if you are a convicted felon, and its not like he messed up just one time. Michael Vick himself admitted that he did not try hard when he played for the Falcons. He told Jim Mora that if you put a check for a million dollars inside of game tape, it would still be sitting there since he never once watched the game tape. No I don’t know about you Atlanta, but the reason I take offense to Michael Vick is that I worked hard for the money I spent on all those Falcons games back in the day to watch him. And it was a slap in my face to hear him say he did not work hard for Atlanta in return. What he was convicted of was horrible, but when you remove that, he screwed over the people of Atlanta and real Falcons fans. I don’t actually care if he was purple, you don’t play with my money. Oh, and remember the game when he flipped us off?
Remind me again why it seems people don’t mind having been disrespected by this guy?
Tim are you serious?????

Hi, you know what country we live in, right? How is it you say white people don’t accept black leaders? Quit assuming all white people think that way. This MV7 chat has nothing to do with race. Get over it. And yourself. People like you make the situation worse.
Oh and p.s.
Vick’s numbers are NOT the best in the league. Try again

Taylor: Good point. The very fans Vick flipped off are some of the ones who are singing his praises. SMH

Taylor, I would have forgiven anyone in Vicks position regardless of color, if I felt they were sincere. I think Vick has grown and matured, even he himself has said he did not give the fans of Atlanta what they deserved. I wish back then we had a dedicated Mike Vick, but we did not. Now I feel he has gown as a person and a player and wish him the best. I would love to see him get MVP, and the only the only reason I am not cheering for him to hoist the Lombardi on Feb 6 is because I am ture to my Falcons, and would really love to see Ryan and Smitty raising the Lombardi, as Roddy is named SB MVP.

The MVP should be someone, that if he were not playing, the team would not function in the same. If you look at all the candidates which one would fit this description?

hahhhhhahahahhaaha. all of you delusional falcons fans need to shut up. only one drive in an entire home game led to points tonight. you’ve only had 1 truly impressive win this year. i doubt you’ll win your first playoff game, certainly wont make it to the super bowl. everyone else saying anyone other than brady is the mvp is a joke. he’s ahead of vick in every statistical category except rushing yards and has less help (two undrafted running backs, two rookie tight ends, and a young defense that is ranked very low) this whole message board is a joke. brady will win whether y’all like it or not. vick is most improved player, and matty ice choked tonight as he will in playoffs and shouldn’t even be considered in the convo, there are 3 other qbs i’d take for 3rd place over him
