Alabama staffer fired for mocking Cam Newton with songs (UPDATED with video evidence)

It turns out that there’s a limit to what’s acceptable when it comes to making fun of Cam Newton — in Tuscaloosa, of all places.
Alabama has fired an employee who mocked the Auburn quarterback with songs he played over the public address system before their game Friday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, according to TideSports.com.
The songs of choice?
“Take the Money and Run” by the Steve Miller Band and “Son of a Preacher Man.” (Reports don’t make clear if it was the Aretha Franklin or Dusty Springfield version of
“Preacher Man.” But I’m guessing it doesn’t matter, even if Aretha is the queen of soul.)
As you no doubt have heard, Newton and his father, the Rev. Cecil Newton, are under NCAA investigation for possibly soliciting payment from one or more potential universities for Newton’s services prior to the player transferring from a Texas community college. Hence, the background music during the pre-game.
Alabama’s part time DJ presumably passed on the Beatles’ “Money,” Pink Floyd’s “Money,” AC/DC’s “Money Talks,” the O’Jays’ “For The Love of Money” and of course Donna Summer’s “[He] Works Hard For The Money.” (Sorry. Just had to go there.)
Seriously though, this from Alabama public relations director Debbie Lane: “Our processes require that all music and videos played in the stadium prior to and during every game be carefully scripted and approved by a senior administrator in the Athletics Department. The former staff member deviated from the script that had been approved for the game with Auburn, and the University took steps to immediately terminate his contract.”
Alas, there is civility in perhaps college football’s most vicious rivalry.
Is the firing just or is it overreaction?

UGA = 11-10 in their last 21 games –they are the poster child for mediocrity, wishing they were on par with Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Florida …even South Carolina or Arkansas. Here's a dose of reality for you; Georgia Tech has won the last conference championship between the two schools and has been to the last BCS bowl game between the two …and odds are that Tech will win another conference championship and earn a BCS bowl bid before UGA does. The ACC is not as strong as the SEC, but who cares. UGA is a mediocre second-tier team in the SEC, and GT can turn it around in a year, enough to compete for an ACC championship.

4. Allegations of taking cash for play.

Regardless of what school you pull for there has been some issues in your program, but it just burns you up inside so bad that Auburn is so good that they must have cheated!

I went to college and just went to class and earned my degree. You don’t have to become a thug to attend college. Millions over the years have no criminal issues attending college. Oh I get it – Auburn who has one of the best agriculture schools in the U.S, and produces some of the top Farmers in the southeast. I know numerous Auburn grads who have great tracts of lands in Southern Alabama and Georgia. These people work the land and produce food for you and I. Pretty honorable job if you ask me.

Auburn also has one of the best Vet Schools. 9 years ago my Vet recommended the UGA Vet school to look at my dog that was having serious health problems. UGA couldn’t figure out what was wrong with him. I took him to Auburn and in 3 days they figured out he had Lupus, perscribed him medication, it went into remission and he’s been fine for the last 8 years.
Thanks Auburn. Way to go UGA.
