Dawgs played their hearts out, just came up a bit short. Too many mistakes. Definitely the two weeks Flerda had to prepare made a difference, who woulda thunk to use the TE as a QB in the wildcat. Gameplan kept Georgia off balance all game.

They are different players but making same mistakes & turnovers. That’s on Richt.

Stafford threw dumb picks… Murray throws dumb picks.
Moreno fumbled as does Ealey as does Caleb King.

We have some big decisions to make at the end of this season because we have to determine if we are content winning enough games to be considered a decent team or do we want to start competing for championships. I think Coach Richt is a good man and he has kept our football program respectful but we are no longer considered one of the better SEC Team, and not to mention a National Power. We must decide what type of Football Program we want at UGA.

Please, can anyone answer this for me??

How in the heck do you pass on Third Down in Overtime when you are looking at a straight on field goal with one of the best kickers in the country. Make the kick and you force Florida to either score a touchdown or kick a field goal to tie! If they kick the field goal and make it then you are guaranteed the ball back!!! You put the pressure on the kicker to tie the game instead of winning it! You are already ahead at this point!

I really like CMR. I don’t want to see him get fired as head coach but this stupidity has got to stop! Also, BooBoo was back at it again with some of his absolutely moronic play calling! Good grief…….

Why all the fuss about Rainey? Has Richt reacted any differently? I seem to recall that Ealey stole from another student this semester and is still on the team. I seem to recall that King hit someones vehicle, left the scene even after UGA officials told him to stay put…yet he is still on the team. Should I continue for another 11 times???? Fact is the whole SEC allows such treatment because we are all about winning. Richt certainly is up there with the worst of the coaches not one that is innocent enough to cast stones at others.

Georgia dominated in the 80s– Dooley was a much better coach than Florida’s Pell & Hall.

Florida dominates in 90s & ’00s, because Spurrier & Meyer are much better coaches than Ray Goof, Donnan & Richt.

A GREAT GAME in the Greatest Conference Ever. Florida, with the win, now obviously better than the Pittsburgh Steelers, league officials probably trying to set the game up. Georgia must now face the fact they could probably only hang with Buffalo, although Bills would probably avoid scheduling such a tough game outside their division. It is an SEC team, after all.

This realy feels good. With all the problems with Fl’s offence they find a way to win…again. This was always goning to be a difficult year for the Gators losing 11 players to the NFL. Well, Coach, you are right. McGarity has some big decisions to make at the end of this season. Do we want to continue having a mediocre football program or do we want a first class program? If we want a first class program, then Richt has to go. Anyone can tell our program is moving in the wrong direction and has been for several years. You can’t blame the players. They are playing the way they’re coached. It’s time we admitted that even though Richt is a nice guy, he is not earning his 3 million dollars a year. We’ve got to “clean house.”

I think the fear is we Georgia fans know that Richt is better than Ray Goof & Donnan were… And if we let Richt go; we could end up with another Ray Goof or Lane Kiffin.

But the fear of going backward is stopping us from going forward. Florida fans could have stuck with 7 wins Zook. They could have been afraid of getting another Galen Hall or Charley Pell… But they made the move to Meyer because they wanted to get better.

Sure UGA could end up in Notre Dame/Tenn land with a rotating door of lame coaches

But Richt isn’t as good a coach as Saban or Meyer. And UGA can’t fix that by holding tight to Richt

For so many years we had to endure Martinez defenses. Now its Granthams turn and from the 4 losses and a KY 2d half score at will, he has not changed his 4 down to 5 which would put 1 more in the box to stop or slow the run. In all our losses he’s not done anything different. Yes, the TO’s really hurt but holding FL to one score maybe 2 in the 1st half sure would have made a difference. The only reason FL didn’t score more in the 2d half was GA was able to move the ball and kept FL’s O on the sideline. So don’t give Grantham any credit for holding FL to one TD and a FG in the 2d half.

I don’t see why we go to JAX anyway. The way we play they just might as well concede the loss and save the expense of travel and feeding this sorry coaching staff. Sorry to say they should all be canned.

Tough loss…………should have won this one. Murray finally made some freshman mistakes. Still not playing smart………two fumbles lost that should have been recovered. Also missed out on two key interceptions. Need to hire who ever taught AJ how to catch and bring them to UGA. Still not happy with the play calling. No real running game yet the offense seems restricted. Drops and all, this team has a lot of talented receivers and of course a damn good QB. Need a playcaller who is not scared to open things up and go with more of a spread attack!!! Use some of that no-huddle and attack. The style being used right now won’t work at all against Auburn. You better put up some points to beat them Coach!!!

The call to fire Mark Richt should be examined as a business decision. Richt has a 25% success rate vs UF. He may be a nice guy but the team has very little discipline. Most business owners would agree that they evaluate employee performance based on results more than who is nice. Richt’s performance in this series is terrible. Georgia is mediocre overall. What do Georgia fans want? And just because UGA lost to UF too often prior to Richt does not excuse the poor results of his tenure.

Last word on the subject. Things can change mighty quick in College Football.

Look at Auburn. Anybody expect them to be where they are right now.

UGA was at the top of the SEC during Richts first 7 years. 2 Championships and Three Championship game appearances.

Richt will not be fired at the end of this season. Even if we lose out.

The absolutely sad and pathetic thing is the commentators and bloggers that will praise Richt and his merry band. The only one I don’t find fault in is Todd Grantham – at least he has legitimate excuses for the lack of talent at areas of his defense.

But everyone will praise “the heart of this team” for fighting back. How sharp our offense and Murray in the 2nd half. Yada, Yada, Yada.

Murray, for all his wonderful play, showed us he can and will cost us games today. He might become a very good player for us in the next three years, but a puke performance like this will linger around this team every big game we are faced with. Next year in Jacksonville, he’s laid the groundwork for another flop. He’s a good kid with lots of room to grow and he’s fun to watch. That’s all I can say.

Richt, yet again, had this team tight. His defense set us up in the first quarter to handle the Gators the way we should have and once again we came out and wet the bed.

Who’s responsible people? 18 of 21. Florida owns us and there is nothing we, or this coaching staff, and apparently our new wonderful “born and bred” AD can or will do about it.

I am a Georgia fan for life. But this is the first time I am really embarrassed to be so…. Proudly I wear my colors, and I always will, so homers can kiss off with their “well stop rooting for them then.. ” routine.

But I now wear my colors knowing full well what complete inferiority those colors represent.

I hope SOMEONE, ANYONE at the university would like this to change sometime soon. Please.

Once again the poor player development at Georgia has created the precarious situation UGA finds itself in. The talent recruited at Georgia is on the same line and level as Florida,South Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi St. and soon to be a lost to a Auburn Team. Whose fault is it the level and depth of players is where it is at? Coach Mark Richt. There is no getting around it.

This was the worst Florida team in over 10 years and this game should have never been close. If the staff at UGA had played the players and gained some experience and depth in 08 and 09 the drop off of talent after the first 15 on both sides of the ball would not be so prelavant.

No two ways around it, Murray should have played some last year. With the season UGA had last year he or Mettenberg should have got some snaps.

The next thing that is so funny is the Auburn fans on here talking trash. A poster on here made a comparison between Mark Richt and Tommy Tuberville. Then went on to say how much they like Tuberville but now they love Chizik. Well just keep all that love in mind next year when Auburn losese Newton, Fairley, their entire offensive line, Etheridge and Malzahn is calling plays as a head coach somewhere else next year.

The decision on whether to remove Richt as head coach won’t be as difficult for McGarrity as you might think. Foley wasted no time removing Zook, once he saw the options available. It is hard to imagine that cash contributing alums would continue pouring cash down the crapper with the current HC running the program. If they do then they will continue to leave Jax. disappointed and disillusioned. McGarrity and Foley formed a formidable team. Richt should be prepared for the shoe that’s going to DROP.

The Government is taking over 50% of your paycheck and you’re complaining about playcalling and game management of a bunch of 18-22 yr olds in a game that has NO DIRECT BEARING on your actual life?

This game bothered me for about 5-10 minutes, then I went about the rest of my life!

In reality, It’s a young team in a down year for the conference. Things will get better…

Personally, I have not always agreed with CMR (Esp. his QB decisions, (Tereshinski, Joe Cox) but UGA under his watch has been pretty consistent year-to year. (Except for the past couple of years, of course). Reason to be concerned if this continues into next year, but not yet…

Also, who do you have in mind as a replacement that is better?
(and, no, Kirby Smart and Will Muschamp aren’t leaving Bama and Texas for the gig, either!)

Remember, Michigan got rid of Lloyd Carr because he had a losing recued against Ohio State. Their program under Rich Rodriguez may or may not have it’s first winning season since Carr left in 2007. Food for thought.

I always wonder how much $$$$ the real blog screamers have lost on a game. Also, how much alcohol has been consumed.
Neither one of these teams is really very good. Both have a lot of work to do. Hope that South Carolina wins the East Division, so that a decent rep is in the championship game. The cycle is in the best teams are in the West Division. That will change.
Whether Richt stays or goes? If he goes, then how much lee way, will all the “he has to go” give the new coach. One week. Maybe.

In the real world, if you are a fortune 500 company(FBS) and you are getting beat by your rival (Florida) every year and another competitor every other year and this has been the pattern for 5 years. A good Board would recommend some new blood and leadership to be brought in(Grantham and a defensive staff) to shake things up and create a new line of ideas to be competitive. If after that change we still had issue( arrests, suspensions) and were getting beat by competitors who we should beat then a good board would fire the CEO and bring in a new guy or gal to lead the company.

The past 3 to 5 years this UGA company is not moving forward, but standing pat and not paying dividends.

Jellybeandawg: So what is your point? How many BCS games did Donnan coach in? How many SEC titles did he win or even play for? Sure Donnan could recruit; trouble is, he wasn’t a very good coach. I presume thats why ya’ll fired him. RIch reminds me of Tom Osborne at Nebraska. Back in the mid and late eighties, he couldn’t beat Barry Switzer and Oklahoma. Many in the Nebraska fan base wanted him fired in the early nineties, and Osborne even thought seroiusly about taking the Colorado job in 1991. But, thankfully for the Nebraska program, cooler and more rational heads prevailed, and the rest is history. THe recruiting class that came into Nebraska in 1991 graduated in 1995 with a record of 48-2. Be patient. You guys have the right man for the job. You have a terriffic youn quaterback. Your future is bright, unless you hit the panic button and throw the baby out with the bathwater.

face it we are stuck with CMR for at least 1 more year, probably 2. Only way to get him gone sooner is to stop selling out the stadium. Next years team will be even worse off than this one with the loss of Green, Houston, Durham. Defense can only improve though, theres no way to get any worse..I hate to say it but defensively we’re not better with Grantham so I take back all i said about Martinez. Does it take an act of God for this defense to stop 3rd and long ???? Sitting here in my hotel in Jax listening to all the gator fans on the street partying, must be nice ….

I think the team played a great game. Murray made some mistakes, but without him, we don’t even tie the game in the second half. He’s going to be very successful in his career at UGA. Our defense made some great plays. It’s easy to sit back and complain “Why didn’t they just fall on the fumble?”, but if they’d done that, someone would say, “Why’d he fall on it instead of returning it?” While this has been a miserable season, for me, it’s mostly because of just how close we’ve been. A key fumble or a key play seems to have cost us at least three games. I just checked and we’ve got a bye week next year with a good number of players coming back on both sides. If we make a bowl game with the new defense, AJ’s suspension, the freshman quarterback, I say next year is Richt’s “put up or shut up year”. If we don’t make a bowl game (meaning we probably also lose to Auburn AND GT), then it’s probably time to fire Coach Richt and start new next year. In the end, its not my call, and I’ll still cheer for these Dawgs!

I personally would like to have some hope for the short term future of this program but the truth is the year is done. OUr best hope left is to beat GT – no way we win in Auburn, and maybe finish 6-6 and get a Papa John’s invite. That’ll be nice for the kids who DO work hard and stay out of trouble.

Next year will be better. Sacrificail Lamb BooBoo *might* be offered ans an appeasment and we *might* get back to 9 or 10 wins next year.

But there will be little hope for much more in the forseeable future. I have zero confidence in this staff to make us contenders. At least next year we *should* be in the mix until our annual Jacksonville beatdown…

I applaud Urban Meyer for making REAL changes during the open week. They may not have been perfect, even half polished or worked they way they were designed, but he threw a new wrinkle at a team he knows is poor on adjustments. Bottom line — Richt was OUTCOACHED again. CMR’s idea of a change is to have Bobo on the sideline instead of in the field box. WOW, how innovative? UGA is stuck in neutral with Richt and will be until McGarity finds new blood — or more succinctly, someone with a pulse. UGA should have dominated that crappy Florida team. Instead, well wait till next year. Same results again. Play calling was still predictable — actually horrible at times. UGA is still a fundamentally weak football team that operates as its own worst enemy. My son’s Pop Warner team practices covering fumbles every day. Always cover them, don’t pick them up and try to run. DUH! Even AJ is clearly fed up and I don’t blame him. CMR is the weak link of this team. I felt this way before this game and I feel even stronger about it now. All these kooks talking about UGA winning the East — R U kidding me? Auburn will obliterate us and even Tech isn’t close to a gimme. Will have 6 or 7 losses and Richt should be fired! Grantham’s D can’t stop anybody. And where is this great secondary coach we all heard about? Lakatos? The secondary is laughable they’re so bad. I also couldn’t help notice CMR giving an earful on the sideline to a player who was almost (and should have been) flagged for taunting after a TD. The player actually laughed in his face on national TV. Enough said.

True, I currently see them all the time. However, that being said, I can say they are in a similar category to Ohio State or maybe closer to Notre Dame. Each school could change things by actually being elite or at least backing up the hype, but that just might be too much to ask. Dookie, I think what makes UGA fans so crazy is that if you look at the number of players in the nfl by state, Georgia is right there with Lousiana and just behind the big 3- Florida, Texas, and California, and ahead of Ohio and Pennsylvania. CMR has to go. I like him plenty but he can’t seem to beat UF. If you can”t beat UF you don’t have a good chance of winning the SEC east div. If you don’t win the east then you don’t play for the SEC title. If you don’t play for the title you wonn’t play for the national title. I wish CMR well but we need someone that can win titles.

I’m as frustrated as the next fan, but there is no way you fire someone who has accomplished what Richt has and brings in the type talent he does. Look at Bear Bryants 10-11th seasons. Maybe they should have fired Beamer at VT after a few seasons? These are close losses and we could be undefeated. We are only a handful of plays from being ranked right with Auburn. Support your coach and team!

Don’t care what anyone on either side says, that was a heck of a game. Hard-fought on both sides…and to be honest, I can’t remember a game in which BOTH programs needed a win so badly. My hats are off to UGA and their players for fighting back so hard and playing so tough. You’ve got a good one in Murray…and I’m afraid his connection with Charles may be something we grow to hate over the next few years. I’ll enjoy this just like every other Gator fan…but as we’ve seen, these things go in cycles. And if I had to bet, seeing how much YOUNG talent there was tonight on both sides of the field, I’d say that both programs have a very bright future even though it doesn’t feel that way to either right now.

Go Gators, and see y’all again next year.

The issue is that Florida has better atheletes and they have made up their mind they will beat UGA no matter what it takes. Myer will recruit any thug to win and will continue to do so. Myer and Lane Kiffin are the worst coaches of character in the game. The good news is that Florida will lose 2 more times this year and maybe bring next years recruiting down a notch…but UGA is going to get it second class in a row of below average recruits…Auburn, Bama, South Carolina, LSU and Florida will continue to dominate the recruiting wars and UGA will get 2nd and 3rd tier players. Lets face…we have to give up the FLA game forever as long as Ritch is there. It has become a total mental thing. The only way for UGA to win the SEC will be for other teams like Miss. St. to beat Fla. and UGA can only hope that other SEC teams can beat them in the future. I am not sure that any coach coming in will beat Florida…it is just a huge mental things with UGA players…truth be know, they are not better atheletes…both FLA corners shut down AJ all night. AJ is great…but the FLa secondary had no problem shutting him down. Ultimately the game was lost with Murray’s turnovers early in the game…just too much deficit to overcome. I think the coaches did everything they could to prepare except for play call number 1….after the first play of the game, Murray realized he wasn’t playing against Tenn, Vandy and Kentucky DB’s…the corners for FLA are NFL players…FLA, BAMA, LSU and AUBURN are recruiting future NFL players…UGA is recruiting the 2nd tier crowd.
