Urban Meyer slammed again for Chris Rainey decision

Urban Meyer is still on a losing streak — on and off the field.
Any hopes the Florida coach had that the backlash over his decision to reinstate wide receiver Chris Rainey would fade pretty much imploded again.
The latest slam comes from Carol Wick, who runs a domestic violence shelter in Orlando. Wick told Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel: “I think somebody in sports has got to take a stand. Given Urban Meyer’s well-known moral values, I think it would do a lot of good if he were the first coach to step up and say, ‘No, this is unacceptable behavior. I wouldn’t tolerate it in my home. I wouldn’t want it to happen to my daughter and I’m not going to tolerate it on my team. Violence and threats against women are not acceptable.’ ”

The background: Rainey, the Gators’ wide receiver, sent a text message to his estranged girlfriend: “Time to die, [bleep].”
When Wick was informed that Rainey has been painted as a good guy by Meyer, she responded, “Good guys don’t send threatening text messages telling their girlfriends that it’s time to die.”
Rainey was suspended indefinitely but partially reinstated last week. The expectation is that he will play in Saturday’s game against Georgia in Jacksonville. Meyer said he’ll make that call on Thursday.
The Florida coach, whose team has lost three straight, tried to sound like the tough guy again today. He didn’t pull it off. Speaking on the weekly SEC coaches conference call with media members, he said: “As of now he has done everything he’s supposed to do. … We’re going to keep a tight rein on Chris Rainey. He’s never been an issue before and he certainly better never be again.”
Meyer also echoed some the remarks he had said on Tuesday, saying that the bye week will “result in some changes” to the offense.
Also this: Rainey would play both wide receiver and running back.

J Clay, I agree with you 100%. DUI is a serious issue and kick off the team is appropriate punishment. And Caleb has had more problems than we are all fully aware of. Though non-violent. Sadly most of these kids are looking for the NFL ticket. If they don’t play they don’t get the exposure they need. Seems like they would be smart enough to figure that out. Damn how hard can it be to show up, go to class, go to practice, mind your own damn business and leave other people alone.

Yeah, I think I will take Richt over Meyer no matter what our record is against Florida. Saturday should be real interesting. If UGA wins then it is another example of our season turning around. If Florida wins, people outside Gainesville will still be questioning Myers integrity and ticked off about this season.

Mosy UGA player take some of the easiest classes available in the history of offered college courses. GT has most players taking Managemnet classes. Please don’t think UGA players compare to VANDY because you came in 2nd in Grad rates. Vandy and UF are the onlu members of the SEC that qualifly for consideration or are members of AAU. The Acc has most of their members qualifly for AAU status.

When rainey touches the ball the UGA students should start chanting what he said in the text message. If it is not a big enough deal to get kicked off the team then chanting it so UF fans, kids, CBS, and everybody else can hear it, can’t be that big a deal either.

Rainey will play without a doubt, not that this is a shock or anything. I think Meyer made this decision as he was shaking Dan Mullen`s hand after the MSU game. If this idiot was a non-contributor, he would have been shown the door permanently 5 weeks ago. It`s funny Mr. “core values” Meyer decides to reinstate Rainey after two losses with “strict conditions” to be met before any other decision will be made, then after the loss to MSU (1 week later) Meyer decides that Rainey has “met the conditions” to be cleared to play but still not sure. This is called the desperation storm and no Tebow umbrella to hide under this time. If he plays fine, just say it from the get go, instead of this big show. If you gator fans want to call this hating that`s fine because this is what I`m expecting, I just think it is just as bad to say you have moral values then undermine exactly what you supposedly stand for. One last question though for all you defending this jackhole, what if he threatened your daughter?

I would take Meyer over Richt any day.
Both are nice guys, if anything both are to forgiving at times, but Meyer is simply a better football coach.
I would take Meyer no 1 over Saban, Trussle, Mac Brown, etc… maybe even Paul Johnson (about even)

I just compared uga’s arrest record and florida’s arrest record (as ridiculous as that sounds) and here’s what i came up with. Most of uga’s arrests are underage possession and or traffic incidents. All of uga’s DUI incidents resulted in the player getting kicked off the team or having to leave the program. For florida, they’re arrests involved theft, stalking, resisting arrest, and starting fights. Here’s what I get out of this analysis…uga’s players are college kids, stupid drinking arrests and stupid traffic mistakes. But florida players are punks…they steal, they threaten women, and they start fights. If you love florida so much marietta_dawg, go back because nobody wants a guy like you in this state. You’re trash. I can’t wait to see all of you walk out of the stadium in your jorts, crying your little eyes out. You’re pathetic

I just looked over the arrest records of florida and uga and here’s what i came back with. Uga’s arrests have included, DUI, underage possession, and traffic violations. Lets see, 11 arrests this year alone in hump town and U G A Y fans want Meyer fired.
