Happy holidays to all, and to all a good … rest

closed-for-holiday

Saw a guy in LaGuardia Airport at 4 a.m. Monday. He looked like he had combed his hair with a blender. Turns out he was from Sweden and had just taken a bus from JFK, where another of his intended connecting flights had been canceled. He told me he had been up for 38 hours. So we’re standing in the security line and he gets to the front and the ticket-checker security dude tells my tired Swedish friend, “This is just your itinerary. Where’s the boarding pass?” So he has to get out of line and go back to the ticket counter to get a boarding pass.

I’m taking a few days off, heading to the other coast, where it’s very easy to lose touch with the rest of the world. But if news breaks while I’m gone that a mad Swede suddenly went postal at the Nathan’s Hot Dog kiosk at LaGuardia and nobody could figure out why, well, I thought you should know.

Here’s hoping everybody has a great holiday season. I won’t be gone long. Should be back in plenty of time to watch the Falcons close out a 9-7 season, Georgia Tech win the Orange Bowl and the Braves trade for Adrian Gonzalez. (Reasonably certain at least two of these three will happen.)

Good wishes to all, and to all a good rest.

Take care JS- Can we expect to comeback to a Tuesday “Holiday Special” from the Count? Should be back hopefully by the time UGA announces D coach as well.

Jeff,

I have had more than enough of the “$1.4 million vs. our $14 million bowl” guy.

I think it’s time the AJC bans him from all its blogs.

We can do without this guy!

Hey Jeff, while you’re there, give some thought to staying. You must be miserable working for what has become the worst newspaper in the country and having to cover so many sports teams you despise. But, then again, who else would have you?

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
as are Vomit and ol’ Jock Strap,
Jeff Schultz tanning pool side near downtown Cabo,
and Matt Ryan is doing his best to learn how to rap.

Everybody knows a turkey and his traveling dog show
Help to make the jail cell his rite,
Clandestine Falcons Fans unconcealed,
as Arthur’s jester commands the slight.

They know that Dimitroff’s on the way,
he’s got Smith leading the Birds of Prey,
And every real Falcons Fan in town,
Knows we are 2011 Super Bowl bound.

And so we’ve got two more games to go,
lets kick some Bills and Buccaneer ass,
Jeff already said 9 and 7 is what we’ll sow,
Thank you Falcons Players and Brass!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! You can’t make me mad on Christmas! I hope all the kids get what they want. I know there were times when I didn’t, but I know my parents did everything they could with Santa that was possible. So if you don’t get what you wanted, be thankful for what you did get. God Bless our Troops and I pray that our country remembers the principles that it was built on. Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m shocked on the Vasquez trade. Not really much of an upgrade in OF!!

Don Gill

Just in time for Christmas. How stupid, stupid can the Braves get? Trading Vasquez for a mediocre hitter. They are filled with mediocre hitters. Sign LaRoche, for crying out loud. He’s the only one that consistently hit wi power last year. And Vasquez was getting close to being as good as John Smoltz in his prime. Just plain stupid.

Melky? That’s the best they could get…McLouth lite?!

Might as well have stuck with Vazquez and give Schafer another shot…Wren is either the biggest dummy ever or the talk of an increased budget were total BS!
