Dogs fans, what’s your preference: Shreveport or nothing?

shreveportI listened to Mark Richt’s teleconference with media members Sunday night and had to chuckle (quietly) when somebody asked the Georgia coach about the bowl picture. “I’m not sure where [we're going],” Richt said, “but I can promise you we will be thankful anywhere we get to go.”

It wasn’t just what he said but the way he said it, as in: “We’ll take anything.”

A question for you: Would you prefer anything or nothing? Because the “anything” is not going to be very good.

The SEC bowl tie-ins are: 1.) BCS  bowl(s); 2.) Capital One; 3.) Outback; 4.) Chick-fil-A; 5.) Cotton; 6 and 7.) Liberty and Music City; 8.) Independence; 9.) Papajohns.com.

It’s looking more and more like Georgia is ticketed for one of the bottom two bowls, either the Independence in Shreveport, La., Dec. 28, or the Papajohns.com in Birmingham, Dec. 29. ESPN.com projections have them playing Connecticut (Papajohns.com) or Iowa State (Independence). CBSSports.com has Georgia playing Florida State in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, Dec. 27.

If the Dogs lose to Georgia Tech, they will finish the regular season 6-6 (one of those wins coming over Tennessee Tech). Would you look forward to one of the lower-tier bowls, or has the season left you too upset to even want to watch or attend?

Fist of all the bowl game is for the kids playing NOT the FANS!!!! If GA get an invite yes they will take it. It’s easy for everyone sitting at home to skip the bowl and practice, but for the seniors this is there last chance to be a part of a bowl experience, most of you reading this probably won’t travel to see the game, so sit at home don’t watch the game and if GA loses just take it like a man and get ready for next season

Joe SUX earned his senior day start with five years of loyalty, but he almost single-handedly lost the game with three TOs in the last ten minutes. The future should start now, with playing the freshman the next two games, but that won’t happen. Two consecutive years of underperformance, and the penalties are a coaching/discipline problem, pure and simple. Recruiting, Richt’s one really strong area, will begin to fall off too and 6-6 will be the new norm. UGA, sadly, is the new Kentucky except we obviously can’t play basketball either!

Joe cox was heard in the Dorms saying, “If I didn’t have my other hand in my pants(playing with myself with a 20-6 lead) while throwing those other passes I could had been a 7-4 GOD at UGA.

Of course the loudmouth Tech fans don’t want us going to a bowl. I bet most of us Dawg fans will take any bowl. Any bowl win is a good bowl. We just need to prepare and win it.

Whatever bowl game they end up in, it will be very likely where they will need to cover up the entire end zone section on both sides of the field with the large stretch fabric sign stating the name of the bowl and the sponsor so to disguise the empty seats.

A BOWL Game? This team needs some GEOGIA pride and stay home! As far as the “let the seniors have their bowl game”comments go, what is this? Pop Warner? Do we give them all a hug and an icecream sanwich too?

UGA should decline any bowl appearance if they go 6-6. That is so far below acceptable standards at UGA I think they would make a more credible statement by just saying ‘we don’t deserve to play in a bowl game this year.’ Then work like heck to get back to relevance in college football.

Kevin Smith…the bowls ARE for the fans. The fans generate the money that is the reasaon why the bowls even exist. The cities that create the bowls care about the fans not the kids.

That said, you play for pride. Any team, anywhere should be the approach. This team needs to man up and beat the crap out of somebody.

Does anyone know the rule (or is there one) that allows a team to continue having organized practices after the regular season if they are playing in a bowl game. In other words, can a team hold an organized team practice if they’ve completed their season and are NOT going to a bowl?

CATS FLY “UGa “fans” have brought the Dawgs to a new low. Why would recruits want to play in front of such losers? The school is good, the team is good – the fans are wretched.” Couldn’t have said it better.

Kevin Smith – Well said. For the majority of the seniors the bowl will be the last time they play organized football – let them enjoy it.

Of the different locations mentioned – Shreveport, Memphis, Nashville and B’ham – Shreveport is the one you really don’t want to go to.

The score of Saturday nights game will be close at half time (3-4 points either way). Adjustments will be made by one team’s coach for the second half. That team will go on to outscore the other by 24 points in the second half. Final score 49-23

IF CMR had any guts he’d tell everyone that we (UGA) do not deserve to go to a bowl with the way we have played. That would send a great message to his players and to the fans that he will not tolerate another season like this one. But of course he won’t – just like he says he won’t tolerate penalities (after saying a couple months ago that it doesn’t bother him) but yet still allows the player to play – like Evans after that late hit out-of-bounds – Evans was still in there.

We’re in the bowl alright, consider the game against Tech the bowl. If that one somehow ends up in the “W” column, which isn’t likely, then extend the season with an extra game somewhere. Otherwise skip the bowl because the record will speak for itself.

It has become fashionable for everyone to get a trophy, winners and losers, so that no one will get their feelings hurt. I guess they’ve extended this to the collegiate level in the form of bowl games that host teams with break even or slightly better records.

For all you fans who think the Dawgs will go to the Outback or Peach if they beat GT, here’s a dose of reality. Once the BCS slots are filled, the bowls do not have to pick teams based on how they finish in the conference standings. They can pick any team they want. Sadly, the Dawgs will not be at the top of anyone’s list.

Premature question at best. If you’re UGA you’d better be focused on beating Tech. Lose that game and it won’t really matter what bowl you go to (and you don’t turn a bowl invitation down to stay at home – that makes the school and the conference look really bad), you won’t enjoy it. Same applies to Tech – if it doesn’t beat UGA, it’s all downhill from there. Go Jackets!

If UGA wins, they will definitely want to go to a bowl (probably Music City). If they lose, they won’t want their last game to be a loss to Tech so they will go to a bowl. Either way, they will play 13 games.

When you have six or seven wins you take the bowl no matter what it is.
With that few wins you probably need to practice time to get ready for spring practice. Tech did that several time in recent years.

Who cares where they go? I find it very interesting that last week they were so sure they would finish 9-4 after a win in the Outback or Capital One bowl. Today it is we will take any bowl. UGA may beat Tech because anything can happen in football game, just ask Kentucky. I don’t think it will happen. Who would have thought that UGA would not win that one. Certainly you dawgies felt that was a given. Leading 20-6 at the half. Just can’t close it out. Look out Kentucky just scored again. Name calling is all you have now and you are good at that. You can’t put a sentence together without using slurs and derogatory names. Pitiful. Tech fans please stop acting like a dawg fan and show some class in here.
