Dogs fans, what’s your preference: Shreveport or nothing?

shreveportI listened to Mark Richt’s teleconference with media members Sunday night and had to chuckle (quietly) when somebody asked the Georgia coach about the bowl picture. “I’m not sure where [we're going],” Richt said, “but I can promise you we will be thankful anywhere we get to go.”

It wasn’t just what he said but the way he said it, as in: “We’ll take anything.”

A question for you: Would you prefer anything or nothing? Because the “anything” is not going to be very good.

The SEC bowl tie-ins are: 1.) BCS  bowl(s); 2.) Capital One; 3.) Outback; 4.) Chick-fil-A; 5.) Cotton; 6 and 7.) Liberty and Music City; 8.) Independence; 9.) Papajohns.com.

It’s looking more and more like Georgia is ticketed for one of the bottom two bowls, either the Independence in Shreveport, La., Dec. 28, or the Papajohns.com in Birmingham, Dec. 29. ESPN.com projections have them playing Connecticut (Papajohns.com) or Iowa State (Independence). CBSSports.com has Georgia playing Florida State in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, Dec. 27.

If the Dogs lose to Georgia Tech, they will finish the regular season 6-6 (one of those wins coming over Tennessee Tech). Would you look forward to one of the lower-tier bowls, or has the season left you too upset to even want to watch or attend?

Not accepting and going to a bowl game is like not taking a Christmas Bonus check. It’s free money and free tv time. I remember the days before ESPN, ESPN2, 3, 4, etc., when you had to be at least 7-4 or 8-3 just to get in any bowl. The problem is with the whole college football “postseason” no playoff system. If we had one, 6-6 might be good enough to get you in the 1st round, but chances are you would lose and be eliminated, then again, who knows. But turn down free tv money? No way, Jose!

You’re suggesting that a team should go only to a bowl that will enhance the self-esteem of its fans? Are Georgia fans too good for Birmingham, Nashville, Memphis or Shreveport? Get a grip.

Yes on any bowl. The extra practice will be great for 2010. They really have no choice as the SEC has bowl tie in agreements for so many teams so unless there was a situation like SC and Clemson a few years ago when there was a season ending brawl I believe the school has to accept if offered.

Snoop Dawg and the homeys aren’t going to any bowl this year except the toilet bowl to put the appropriate touches to a retched season.
We aren’t giving any more money to UGA until Mr Marcht Wreck is gone.
We aren’t buying any more season tickets, either, until the Preacha Man and his mental dwarfs Willy and Bozo have departed the AO…

Having seen a picture of the Shreveport water tank, I’m inclined to vote for their bowl. However, I’d like to see a Rice Krispies bowl where the matched teams qualify for their ability to snap, crackle or pop.

Dont you guys get it.

Mark Richt has to go.

You keep crying about his staff. If he has hung with these guys for 4 yrs I doubt he could pick a winning staff that was good enough to play
top ten football.

Clean house and get a Coach in there that gives a chit

Do you think that if the Preacha Man were forced to fire Willy and Bozo that he would have enough sense to replace them with anyone better?

Quit drinking the Koolaid! Richt doesn’t have a clue… Get rid of the man with ultimate responsibility for this morass… Would that be Richt or Evans? OK, let’s get rid of both of ‘em…

Okay, all kidding aside, it IS humbling to go through a season like this – Tenn. fans have had to ride out the low of losing to WYOMING and VANDY during the end of “Full Filmer” and this year’s roller coaster ride with “Lame Kitten” (I confess I likethat one.)

Strangely the Vols still haven’t lost to Kentucky, although this might be their year. I really kept thinking “Ok , Georgia is about to… ” just as Cox threw that INT. I was pretty sure y’all dawgs were gonna win (and same with LSU – what was THAT all about??) but seems we’re all around the same point. UT is still headed upwards, but another building year next year.

If CMR doesn’t dump some coaches, I think y’all are gonna have to “FULMERMIZE” him :-)

Every team has it’s ups and downs. I love the dogs and Riche is an outstanding coach. However, if he cannot control the hoodlums, he will have a short stay. The winning teams don’t let their thugs get out of control. Bench the offenders as soon as they act up. Watched Alabama play Saturday, Saben is tough as nails on his players.

Don’t you morons understand? NCAA rules only allow a team to continue practice if they are selected for a bowl game? Does anyone deny that this crappy defense needs revision and practice? How about the young QB’s that haven’t gotten a snap during a game but must be ready for next year?

For Richt to take a stand that this team won’t attend a bowl game shows he is just as uninformed as you are.

Rejecting any bowl game invitation would be short sighted and stupid.

They should turn down any bowl bid. This is not a good team and this “extra practice” crap is just that — crap. We aren’t going to get to see key players get any “practice” time anyway. And what difference would it make if we did — can Martinez or Boobo coach them to play in a bowl? Don’t make me laugh with a “yes” answer.

I wonder how many dawg fans will truly spend money to travel and watch this team get steam rolled by their opponent? You will have to be a die hard to waste your money for that trip to wherever it is. But go on, put out your money to show support for this coaching staff. They are banking on you doing it. So go — then I’ll watch you leave at the end of the 3Q when the score is impossibly behind for the dawgs.

I don’t think any team, whether it is Georgia, Nortre Dame, or anybody else, deserves to go to a bowl game with a 6-6 record. At one time a bowl invite was a reward for a very good season. Mediocrity should not be rewarded. I think the NCAA needs to raise the number of wins for bowl eligibility to at least 7.

CMR IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. I think instead of getting rid of coaches this year it is time to have a purge the band wagon, ungrateful, DA fans form the program. We have had one bad year under CMR (we were 10-3 last year). We lost the #1 and #15 pick and Asher Allen left early.

Get a grip or move on and find another team to root against, I mean for. You all are probably the same people that wanted change so bad that you went out and voted for a Obama. I do not need anymore of your hind sight changes.

51 – 7. daaaaaaannnng!!! that’s nowhere near 45-42. it should have been 72 – 0 but the pu$$y uga coaches put a leash on the dawgs in the 2nd half. meyer or saban would not have done that so consider yourselves very fortunate to have left the game with a score. what a beat-down and gt will never, ever come close to doing that to uga. cut block all you want but it’s not going to happen.
