Any chance Willie Martinez comes up with a game plan to upset Tech?
In 2006, when a 7-4 and unranked Georgia team defeated a 9-2 and 16th ranked Georgia Tech team, it wasn’t difficult to figure out why. The Dogs’ defense rattled Reggie Ball, the oft-rattled quarterback, who went 6-for-22 with two interceptions and a fumble.
“That was our goal from Day 1,” defensive tackle Ray Gant said afterward. “As soon as we started game-planning Tech, shake Reggie.”
The biggest reason not to expect an upset next Saturday when Georgia goes to North Ave? The Dogs’ defense seldom rattles anybody any more.
If this is another indictment of defensive coordinator Willie Martinez, so be it. We watched Kentucky score four second-half touchdowns Saturday night, and even though two of those scores were set up by turnovers, the game illustrated Georgia’s lack of ability to make a play when it matters.
Question: Do you see Martinez putting together a game plan and inspiring a defense to the point that the Dogs can either: 1) rattle Jackets quarterback Josh Nesbitt into making mistakes, or, 2) slow an offense that is among the nation’s per-game leaders in yardage (449.6) and points (36)? I don’t.
Here’s a stat for you: If you throw out the Vanderbilt and Tennessee Tech games, Georgia has allowed an average of 31.4 points in its other nine games. Martinez might want to keep that off his resume.
Can Georgia put up points against Tech? Yes. But as much as the Jackets’ defense has struggled this season, it also has shown an ability to make adjustments and make plays when it has had to. (Another stat: The Jackets have allowed only one second-half touchdown in the last four games). The Dogs probably had a better defense a year ago, when Tech torched them for 409 rushing yards and five offensive TDs.
I suppose there’s something to be said for this being a rivalry game and Georgia players wanting to finish the season (pre-bowl) on a high note. But it’s hard to imagine any breakthrough coming now.

Tipical nerdie post about worthless diplomas. Were talking football not pointy heading schools. UGA is good at football because we gets the atheletes and our Christians. We gots athlete advantages and we given them diplomas for winning. Christians allows coaches to be understaning of athletes and developing them in lord. Thats important making the close plays in ballgames with big importance.
We teach them football and develop Christian for life to make UGA better at training players.
Yechie nerds tries teaching stupid stuff that no useful to anyone and waste of time for NFL developing. That’s be why UGA can get top recruiting and Bugs cant do it. Real player atheletes coming to UGA team to party and exposing for NFL. Bugs dont understands that anyway and that why they aint ever a football winner.

CAN SOMEONE ANSWER THIS QUESTION???
If uga were to have made it to a bowl aftrer Jan. 1, 2010, would we have been able to play Murray or Metz, and it not affect the redshirt? Does the redshirt apply to the “year”, or the “season”? Thus could we have played them in the bowl without affecting their status?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. GT 4 national championships, uga 1. uga continues to live off of the 1980 team. uga won’t win any more championships until they start scheduling some top five out of conference opponents and beat FLA, TENN, and AUB in the same year. Don’t hold your breath. Notice I don’t even give them the respect of capitalizing the initials.

Solid Gold Dancer-
Willie will have some special blitzes lined up for you guys. And he will disguise the blitzes so you QB trying to make a “read” is fooled. The corners can crash from the outside to stop the triple option, we’ll also send lb’s, 4-3’s will change to 3-4’s before your very eyes, and our d-line is tough–Georgia has given up NO 100 yard rushers this year and we up against some GREAT RB’s in the SEC, 3 NFL guys upfront–so bring that Dive up the gut this year–we look forward to putting our helmets on the ball and causing turnovers. You yellow fizzes run a High School Offense that’s a 1 trick pony. Willie and Bobo will likely not have another 26-0 collapse, in the same qrtrt, this time.
What happened to Tech’s Offense in the 1st, 2nd and 4th qrtr last year?

Paul Johnson will coach circles around Richt and Martinez like he did last year. I hope the mutts follow the Va Tech gameplan (remember Bud Foster spending time at Georgia in the offseason trying to figure out how to defend the flexbone?). Georgia has zero chance of winning this game. None.

Coach Willie is got our D Standing in the right places. Man, I think the special teams is also looking great. Our kicker will kick it right to the guy who runs a 4.3 speed,k, we will pen him in the corner fellas. Whatever you do, do not kick it in the endzone for a touch back. LETS GO SWIMMING GUYS. I don’t understand where any redneck Georgia fan would have any reason to believe they won’t get run out of Atlanta on a rail. I mean-your QB sucks donkey nuts. You have a lame duck defensive coordinator. You’re headed to the toilet bowl in Bumblefart, MS. You just got kicked in the teeth by a terrible Kentucky team on senior day and now you’re playing a well rested Tech team on senior night that has everything to play for. Once the cut blocking starts Saturday night I expect you guys to give in fairly easily and fold like the cheap tent you are. Look for GT reserves to be in by the third Q unless Paul Johnson wants to run up the score.

The play that absolutely showed georgias mentality
A simple punt, georgia instead of linning up and punting like most teams, georgia is running wing men in motion before the snap and being all fancy and the punt is easily blocked (was picked up by georgia but nullified by a face mask penalty)
maybe instead of adding all the fancy extra stuff they should simplify and be a fundamentally sound team.

For those who say Tech played a week schedule, they played all four of the (other) ACC teams currently ranked in the top 25, and beat three of them (lone loss is to Miami). ACC has more ranked teams right now than any other conference. Not saying it is better than SEC (having 1 & 2 in the polls says a lot) but the ACC teams are pretty darn good.

Since you mentioned it, like I said, Georgia has given up 0, 100 Yard rushers this year.
Ga Tech has given up 2 100 yard rushers this year, so far (one more to go).
Did you see the 55 yard run by Ealey Sat? We got more of that for you, you’re going to LOVE our RB Ealey, he ran for 60% more TD’s than Herschel Walker in High School and 133 TD’s, and over 8000 yards. He’s just behind Herschel’s per yard carry average of 5.29, ealey’s at 5.0 ypc. By the way, Herschel was voted the #3 greatest player to ever play college. Ealey’s breaking his records. You have ALREADY given up 2 100 yard rushers this year and Ealey got 55 yards on 1 PLAY last game. Cool, huh?

For some reason all of the Georgia Fans appear to solely point the blame at the defense this year. I do not believe the steel curtin could have bailed out the offense this past week. Maybe the entire coaching staff has reached a point where they all need to go. Change is good and the program at Georgia needs change from top to bottom. Too much sucess spoiled the program and maybe instead of swimming next summer the team will be working on what it should. The number of off field incidents warrant the entire staff taking a good hard look. The free shoes at FSU and test taking started FSU on its decline. Th ereal way to get the team back where ii should be is to dismiss trule breakers from the team.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. GT 4 national championships, uga 1.”
Once again, another Techie tard, UGA has two NC’s and GT hasn’t even won the conference in 19 yrs. Two years of relevance this decade and you you act like you have really accomplished something. If you beat UGA again, (by more than three points) and you actually win the ACC title game (not happening, Clemson will shut you down on BOTH sides of the ball) and (hell will freeze over first) if somehow, you were to win a major bowl game (How do you make GT cookies? You put them in a big bowl and beat them for two hours!) then, maybe, you should be allowed onto a football post to flap your fat mouth about your sorry school, because outside of North Ave., the rest of the country could care less about GT. Our mascot died and thousands of condolescenses poured in from around the country and the from other countries. I unfortunately have to travel through New England every two weeks for my job and when I talk football most have watched alot of UGA football but the majority have never seen a GT game.
Get over yourselves. You are definately on the way up but you still have to put up a few consistent seasons and win some significant games before you can beat your chests.
Look at the UF fans if you want a true definition of classless, moron after a few winning seasons.

snellville jacket, It is the team as a whole, including the coaching. Especially the HC who has let this occur the past few years. If you had been on this blog long enough this season you would see that DAWG fans are blaming everything under the Red-n-Black. I think everyone is right.
I would bet (and I don’t know who is on CPJ’s staff) that CPJ does not have a RB coaching his WRs or WR coaching his RBs. That’s just one example. Here’s another, CPJ has done a remaretable job with alot of 2 and 3 Star players. While Tech may have a 4 Star or a 5… The majority of Tech’s team is kicking A$$ nation wide with lesser talent. UGA and CMR have been Top 10 in recruiting since he has been here and now you are seeing the results of CMR recruited classes minus DC BVG and Donnan’s players (Greene and Pollack). While it is true that everyone wants the whole staff fired from the 2 inexperienced coordinators all the way down to the strength and conditioning coach. Hell, even the Special Teams coach if we knew who the heck he is or if we even have one. But in the end, CMR is the one who needs to go. As soon as that happens, the rest will take care of itself.
By the way, congrats on a hell of a season. Keep winning and make the state of GA proud.
