Payton does have an annoying habit of letting up in the 4th quarter when he has a big lead. If I'm not mistaken I believe he's done it in 4 of their 6 games. Think about how many points they COULD have scored this season if they had played all out in all the games. Based on their current avg per game of 39.7 (238 / 6) and 4 quarters they let up in (a whole game basically) would put them at 278 points on the year or an avg of 46.3 per game. That's just unreal in the extreme.... they really are that damn good.

fixitz.....I think most longtime Saints fans, including myself, would agree with you. I know the current team was not a party to that 36 year old memory, but sometimes I wish head coaches would take into account the fans. They may just be looking for a win, but we are looking for payback as a way of putting those memories to rest once and for all. It would be great to see a coach do something like Belichick just did to the Titans a couple of weeks ago, and then after the game say that it was for the fans....sigh.....I guess that will never happen.

Sept 16th 1973, the 1st Saints game I ever went to (I was 13 at the time) played at Tulane Stadium, opening game of the regular season, against the Atlanta Falcons. This was the date of the real start of the rivalry between Atlanta and NO, For those who don't know, or remember, it was the worst defeat in the Saints history, EVER, even to this day. The final score was ATL 62 NO 7 - and no that's not a typo. It's a big ole black and red blot in my mind that I haven't been able to get rid of for 36 years. Could this weeks matchup be the game that wipes the blot from my mind forever? Probably not BUT you never know. I hope the ATL fans don't take it too personally when I say I hope Payton unleashes the hounds of hell against the Falcons and doesn't pull the starters no matter what the score becomes. But then again Falcon fans you do kinda have history on your side.
Should be a great game and I wouldn't miss it even if it would cause a divorce... sorry honey!!!

I don't think the Saints are as beatable as the Dolphins made them appear. They weren't using Mike Bell in the first half, who has been tearing it up. When they put him in the running game instantly opened up, fins defense collapsed and so the passing game was opened, the defense regained their confidence, and they proceeded to stomp all over the fins like their previous games. They're offense is godly, they will probably smash the season scoring record. The fact that their defense is above average and Sharper is somehow guaranteed a pick-6-per-game just makes them downright terrifying. I'm not sure the Falcons will be able to put up enough points to give them a game.

Weird. Falcons fans don't believe in their own team and they're 4-2. Might as well just fold the game now.
