Owners put themselves above the game AND the team every minute of every day. They take home even fatter paychecks than the ones they write to players.

For once, a player has the clout, the history, and the skills to make his own decisions and do things on his own terms and HE is the clown? The fact is that Favre’s detractors, like you Jeff, are jealous that he has that kind of power and your insecure, whiney articles like this one are only a testament to that.

Everything said about Favre’s ego and narcissistic tendencies is completely accurate.

However, that said:

1) The man can still quarterback, and is MUCH better than either Jackson or Rosenfels.

2) NO ONE has put a gun to the Minnesota Vikings’ head and forced them to pursue Favre and pay him $25 MILLION, so they obviously believe that having him as their QB gives them the best chance to win.

3) NO ONE is forcing ESPN, SI, Fox Sports, etc. to give this circus the coverage it is getting.

Given these facts, I hope Favre goes out in a blaze a glory, leading the Vikings deep into the playoffs (though I think a Super Bowl is unlikely) so he can say to the Packers “See, I told you so!”

Because, let’s be honest, if ANYONE came to you and said “Here is $12M for this year and $13M for next year, please come play for us!”, who would not say “where do I sign?”

Jeff Schultz, congratulations for writing the worst sports column I have ever read. You’re a disgrace to sports journalism. Favre has the right to determine–without your unsolicited help–whether he wants to play or not. Why would anyone wish that Favre fall on his face? Only a certifiable jerk.

He’s better than what they have.

I hope he wins a Super Bowl with them. They’re an excellent team lacking only a QB. If his arm stays healthy, they’ll be very dangerous.

You should be excited to see another team become a legitimate contender. It makes the NFL more entertaining.

All this hate. I don’t understand where it comes from.

Even though I am not a Packers fan, I have always liked Favre. Like many others, I watched the wall-to-wall coverage of his retirement (the first one) and the wonderful tributes that were played for him. I figured this was the end of an incredible career and a the end of an era of sorts. I almost got a little misty-eyed.

But now, he has turned himself into a clown. I too wish him nothing but failure. It’s guys like Favre, TO and Me’Angelo that make me watch college football on Saturdays and leave the TV off on Sundays.
