So what does it all amount to, Dawgfans? Your student body is much, much larger than Tech’s. Your conference is much richer. Tech is filled with kids studying electrical engineering and computer science, many of whom are not into football (laugh at them all you want — if it weren’t for kids like that, there wouldn’t be iPhones and flat screens). Your fan base is huge. You can sell out a 90,000 seat stadium and Tech can’t sell out a 55,000 seat stadium. You got busted in the ’80s for admitting barely-literate football “student-athletes.” Your academics for the basketball team were exposed as a national joke.

What do all these competitive advantages get you? 1980 is farther and farther in the rear view mirror. Your big MNC year was a total bust and your stud QB and running back left. Florida owns you. Your basketball program is in shambles. And you’re sitting on a loss to your poor little brother in football.

also look at the rosters of superbowl winners in recent years. I can see jackets and dawgs, but I think the giants had 5 tech products on the roster as many as any other school.

let them think thats a lot of money. add up ftball (the acc will negotiate for $100 mil/season at least) and bkball it might be closer than you think. I bet 5 years after their college careers the kids from lsu and uga wish they could read at an 8th grade level. At the peach bowl I sat next to a young lady whos job it was to teach Charles Scott how to read as an 18 yr old. period. Does les miles give a rats a ss about these kids.um, I dont think so. Do you think Jon Dwyer had to have a reading tutor? um I dont think so. Myron Rolle FSU – rhodes scholar. Darrel Richard GT – Bachelors and MBA in <5 yrs. I alomost pity the people who don’t understand what college athletics (mainly football) is.

It is nice to see some Tech fans here. They are often very hard to find. When GT got to the championship game in a few years ago in Jacksonville I even ordered some tickets. My son and I like to go to championship games. So I got ten and thought I would take some of my venders. I could not get anyone one to go, even the Tech grads! I was shocked when I got to the game, there was no one there. My hopes to sell the extra tickets evaporated and the worse part was I could not even give the tickets away. There was a silver lining, I could sit anywhere I wanted.

Now when I went to the SEC championship it was a nightmare getting tickets and there were no empty seats.

The bottom line is there is huge difference between the SEC and the acc. I expect that the acc will soon be a second tier conference or maybe it already has. The acc is a conference when you get good schools like FSU or Miami you have to bring them down too.

maybe you ugay fawkers can understand why we pathetic techies are so excited about catching lightening in a bottle and eaking out a measly 3 point win when it came against such a mighty sec football factory and even more exciting that we have a coach who has a decent chance each and every time he fields a team against anyone sec or whatever

there’s too much money involved in this for congress not to stick their greedy fingers into this sooner rather than later

and isn’t it pathetic that ugay is laying off professors but has 40 something million surplus in the atheletics program? says a lot about the priorities there

eventually the sec is just going to become their own ultra-elite division of college football, it will be basically like the nfl (sec) comparred to the usfl or the world league (the rest of div. I) will there ever be a non-sec mnc again? the huge espn contract is going to lead to a huge bias for the sec if nothing else just from pure exposure and air time vs. everyone else. not to mention the extra recruiting money and facitities.
