11:00 am June 26, 2009, by Jeff Schultz
The Braves are scrambling to stay afloat in the National League East.
The Hawks face several difficult roster decisions with four of their top eight players unsigned.
The Thrashers have the fourth pick in tonight’s NHL draft.
Time for me to go on vacation.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned living in the South for 20 years, I need to take my time off in the calendar year before football starts. That means scheduling a few weeks between now and late August. I’ll be back here in two weeks and will take another week sometime between now and the Georgia-Oklahoma State game.
No telling how many doors Jeff Bennett punches between now and then,
I’ll parachute back in from vacation only if major news breaks and Mark Bradley can’t fill the void because he collapsed from writing 279 blogs in a 12-day period.
But I tend to not stray far from my laptop, which means you can reach out and jab me on Twitter, Facebook and email.
Otherwise, you can try to find me. I’ll be somewhere near a blender.
Cheers, Jeff

Jeff, have fun on vacation, but I have not been able to access your last couple of blogs- tried on different computers and different browsers without success. Please tell your web techs. Maybe they did it on purpose to save us from whatever you had to say.

Jeff, can someone fix your previous blogs (commentary on Danny Ainge and Hawks draft selection) before you hit the road? Internet Explorer users are somehow locked out of those blogs.

Jeff,
I haven’t been able to load a few of your blogs. Can you have tech support check the following blogs:
- Hawks take a risk but may finally have their point
- We’re live! (And has Ainge stopped talking yet?)
- Crawford blindsided by Nelson (and another ESPN turnover)
- With Crawford on the way, should Hawks draft a big man?
They just don’t load. All I get is your picture.

I also have this problem KC and reported it to customer service and mentioned it in Mark’s draft blog. The ad, a title, and a stray javascript –[endif]–> tag with ‘Done, but with errors on the page’ status in IE 7.
I thought that problem was what Closed for Renovation meant, Jeff. Have a good vacation – myself I just can’t wait for Falcons Football season.

Jeff, I’ve had trouble loading your blogs for past couple of days. I have missed 3 or 4 I was really interested in. I use IE. I’m not having any issues with anyone else’s. I hope you can correct or have tech support handle this for you and US!

Ok, so you’re taking a vacation BEFORE the Thrashers use the 4th pick in tonight’s NHL Draft?
Don’t use football as an excuse, you’re just not much of a sports fan

Works three days a week, and gets 3 weeks off every summer. I’d be jealous if I didn’t live in momma’s basement and blog all day, everyday. My mom gets mad, but I tell her the situation ain’t right in the employment market these days, it’s just not conducive to my need to be lazy, watch Sportscenter all morning, play Playstation all afternoon, and drink all night, so I’m just biding my time until I can work three days a week, 49 weeks a year like Schultz.

Now Tech Support has told me to use another browser or reload my IE, for an erorr KC here and others have reported. That’s not very supportive, as I suspect only this working blog was checked and it was not stated which rev of IE was used.

I see Hawkshurrah above has same issue with Jeff’s blogs not working.
Here is what AJC Online advised me:
“I was able to get to the Jeff Schultz blog using Internet Explorer. Have you tried using a different browser? e.g. Firefox. You might want to re-install your web browser and see if that works.”
That is not good Tech Support. The tech support person does not indicate which rev of IE or which Jeffs blog he tested in his failed attempt to duplicate problem, and did not notice multiple users are reporting same problem.

Hey Wacko Macko, see Schultz and my response to your “tired stalker” line there… “Al Wood!!!” It just gets funnier with each reading!!! It went like this: “Heck, lower round 1st picks often can’t hack it. Al Wood, that skinny 6′9″ guard who from a few years ago who was in a wreck, etc., etc., etc.” Hmmm… Where to begin… Dude, were you talking about DeMarr Johnson? That was 2000and the 6th overall pick (8 long years ago), by the way, he was 210 lbs.. Not to be confused with Al Wood, The 4th overall pick in 1981, not a late 1st rounder … Drafted 28 years ago, not a few years ago… Hmmm… 6′9″ guard? Did you mean 6′6″? I could go on and on… But there is no fun in that type of behavior… That might be something you’d enjoy…
Just in case you’re not technology savvy enough to find the above interchange… Here it is…
JSS
“Jeff, is he insinuating I’m your “stalker?” I just dislike you intensely (as we have discussed), I’d never stalk you… You’re not in the least bit pretty…. (ROTFLMAO)…. Al Wood, that was hilarious… (Not personal)”
JEFF SCHULTZ
“JSS: I’m with you. I had always hoped if I was stalked, it would be by somebody kinda hot. …”
I’ll be busting his chops tell the day he leaves the AJC for good…

Schultz, have loved your irreverance from day one.Furman seems to have done good.See, I’m old in the tooth like Bisher.Story you may like. As a young lad, I ask my Mom to change to the “Journal” from the “Constitution”. Not that Jesse Outlar is bad, but, I like old Furman. Why?,He just seems to be a real fan without, being a fake.He tells it like it is without shanking his homeboys too bad. What I’m trying to say is, Furm,You, and you can deny it, but, you guys are fans, and I enjoy your enjoying what you do without taking yourselves too seriously.

Back from Charleston for the weekend. Liver’s intact but slightly burned. . . .
TO EVERYBODY HAVING EXPLORER ISSUES: Sorry, I just became aware of issue myself and will let them know. I wasn’t aware of the problem, and apparently neither were they. Oy. (FYI, it works through Firefox and Safari).

Anybody who comes back to a “Gone fishin’” blog post after the author has “gone fishing” is pretty much a stalker. Particularly, when that reader seems to only visit the blog to attempt to verbally attack and belittle the author.
