OK, so maybe it won’t be so easy

Here's Dwayne Wade buried the Hawks Wednesday, hitting one of his six three-pointers on the way to 33 points.

Here's how Dwyane Wade buried the Hawks, hitting one of his six three-point shots on the way to 33 points. (Curtis Compton/ccompton@ajc.com)

It’s so easy to get drunk off one game, isn’t it?

A young team runs and defends like a title contender, Josh Smith looks like some lab creation, Dwyane Wade looks just ordinary — suddenly you find yourself drifting and wondering: “Can LeBron handle this in the next round?”

Welcome to sobriety.

If what happened Wednesday night wasn’t a market correction, it at least was a wakeup call for everybody. It won’t be easy. It won’t short. And any assumptions that seemingly could be drawn after one game were blown to bits in Game 2.

Three days after crushing Miami by 26 points, the Hawks were dropped by the Heat 108-93 to even the playoff series at one humbling apiece.

Nothing went right. Even “Spirit” the hawk (the real one) got loose early in the game, and circled the arena a few times, moving from scoreboard to backboard before returning to his handler.

As far as we know, at least the bird did not leave behind any reminders of his visit. The human Hawks? Different story.

“I think we were a little too comfortable out there,” Al Horford said. “I really didn’t see that sense of urgency from our team, starting with me and going down the line.”

A defense that held the Heat to 64 points and 36.6 percent shooting in the first game was shredded Wednesday for 55.6 shooting, including 15 three-pointers.

Wade? He was back to being something north of mortal: 33 points, including 6-of-10 shooting from 3-point range. He buried a Hawks comeback attempt with 2:36 left when he banked home a trey with Joe Johnson hanging all over him as the shot clock expired, making it 101-91.

What the Hawks saw from Wade on Wednesday was the real thing. Game 1 was the aberration. Coach Erik Spoelstra downplayed defensive adjustments and player rotations before the game, saying: “None of that matters. You can drop-kick that out the door if you don’t come with any intensity.”

Wade did just that. He spoke earlier about how difficult it was replaying Game 1 in his head and watching tape for three days, waiting for Game 2. “It’s tough, but at least it gives you a chance to work on some things,” he said.

On game night, he came out to the court early to shoot at 5 p.m. for an 8 p.m. game. Spoelstra said he walked into the locker room later and saw some teammates talking and laughing.

“He told everyone to shut up and get their minds on the game,” he said.

The Hawks could’ve used such a wakeup call. Game 1 was so lopsided — Miami led for only 26 seconds at 2-0 and trailed by 20 points at halftime — that it was easy to forget the Heat won nearly as many games (43) as the Hawks (47) this season.

Game 2 recap: the Hawks led at 3-2. That’s it. A defense that held Miami to 36.6 percent shooting and 4-of-23 shooting from 3-point range in Game 1 was shredded in Game 2.

The Hawks trailed by 13 at halftime and as many as 18 late in the third. They rallied to get it back to single digits but never got closer than five (96-91). Then Udonis Haslem made a jumper, Wade banked home his three from Marietta, and that was it.

The home-court advantage that the Hawks worked for six months to get: gone. Miami can win this series by sweeping three at home. But given the diametric results of Games 1 and 2, that’s a dangerous assumption.

As is any assumption.

The two guards hit 6 3’s a piece, the one, Dwayne Wade you expect…the other Cook, c’mon? He was on fire!!!…And you said it best, those two late jumpers by Haslem broke their back not to mention the 3 pt. bank shot by DWade late.

I was proud of the way the Hawks fought through it all and cut it to 5 with 4 minutes to go and DWade with 5 fouls. I really thought we were going to win!!!…

We’ll get ‘em back in Miami…series on!!!…Go Hawks…I love NBA Playoff Basketball!!!

3 things. You gotta make free throws. Get offensive rebounds. Joe Johnson has got to play team basketball. He is forcing shots, turning the ball over and not passing to the open man. Another thing. Where was the attacking defense and intensity. What ya think?

## PD and Byron — (Yes, I’m still up.) Heat can still sweep three home games and not have to come back to Atlanta for a game 7 — does that make it clearer? I never wrote the three games in Miami will be played consecutively.

Just a extraordinary shooting night by the Heat. Mark my words, they will not shoot like that in game 3. Sure, Woodson could’ve done more to get the ball out of Wade’s hands. I mean, the Heat seemingly doubled Joe everytime he touched the ball. A double on Wade might have made a difference but with Cook hitting 6 3’s, you just have to tip your hat. I still like Atlanta in 6.

We really dropped the ball with this loss tonight.I was hoping to see us go into miami up 2-0 and having a huge mental edge over the heat.Instead, we played right into their hands by taking ill-advised shots and not defending the perimeter allowing wade and cook to make 6 three pointers apiece.I’m hoping these guys will win at least one game in front of a raucous arena full of heat fans.(maybe harry the hawk, skyhawk, the sky squad and the star of the night…..SPIRIT THE HAWK!!!!!).

If you can get drunk after one beer. I pity the party you go to. Did anyone really think the first game of a possible 7 game series was the real deal? Come on. This isn’t to say it is or it isn’t. I used to teach statistics and I have never heard of any sample size of 1.

Actually, I agree with what Jeff said. The Hawks absolutely looked like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in Games One and Two. After Game One, one could think “They’ll sweep Miami in four”. After last night, one has to think “Can the Hawks even win?”.

The analysis I heard before this series said that this ie expected to be a long series. This being the four vs five seeded teams, it isn’t like you have the Number One seeded Cavs against the Eighth seed, where the talent level is hugely different. Both the Hawks and Heat have major strengths, and major weaknesses. However, the Hawks don’t have Dewayne Wade. Last night proved that Wade is as explosive as Kobe, or as Jordan was in his time.

Simply put, for the Hawks to get back in this series, they must contain Wade. If he plays like he did last night, Miami will win the series.

I think that the Hawks will regroup, and will play better in Miami. Atlanta still has a good chance to win. tied 1-1 is anybody’s game, but they must contain Wade more effectively, and make their free throws, to take back control of this series.

We need to get Joe into the game more often, I know he had foul trouble that was questionable at best but if we go back to the way we played in game one were in good shape, joe and josh in the mid 20’s and 4 others in double figures. I think we had 6 guys in double figures but ill keep stating the obvious… the heat will NOT shoot like that and 99 times out of 100 d wade doesnt hit a fall away 3 with joe all over him

The team’s spirit was broken by the officiating right in the begining of the game, then other problems emerged.

Miami was getting away with all the contact they wanted and we kept getting whistled for everything.

Try and play basketball when every single contact you make is called a foul and you’ll see that you will never get into the right defensive rhythm.

Cook is the current 3-point shootout champion: you cannot think that he will always have bad shooting nights!

The Hawks play on emotion, which will always lead to dramatic swings in their results. If you want to win a championship, you have to be able to win without relying on emotion, because no one can be “jacked up” every night. You have to be more machine-like, like the Patriots, Lakers, etc.

Game 2 simply demonstrated something the Hawks have done all season, which is fail to bring the intensity and focus to every game. Hawks forward Josh Smith said. “We didn’t star the game with a sense of urgency like we did in the first game,” We also didn’t play together.” I’ve noticed this exact type of response from players all season (all Woodson era for that matter), and it points to ineffective coaching. I hope the Hawks take the Heat series, but they’ll never go far under Woodson.

First of all don’t blame officiating, thats a lame excuse. Both teams got calls, and we werent making our freethrows, which we have struggled with all year. Secondly, if you really watched and analyze the game you’ll realize that we got beat by a streaky shooting spree. Sometimes teams get hot. I give the Heat credit, they made some ajustments to get their shooters open and when D-Wade starts draining 3’s, you knew his game was gonna bust open. I look at this loss two ways with good news and bad news. The bad news is they hit 15 3 pointers, thats almost 40% of their total points. The good news is they hit 15 3 pointers, they had to hit a bunch of jumpers to beat us. How often does a team hit that many 3’s to win a series. We still get points in the paint which opens up the 3 pointer for our guys. When a team starts relying on the 3, it spells nothing but disaster. I think we can win one in Miami, which is all its gonna take and be right back in the drivers seat for the series.

2 things caught my eye. 1, as mentioned above – no intensity, no sense of urgency. If they expect to win the series they will have to play every game like it is the 4th quarter 1 minute mark and the game is tied. 2 – it’s apparent that TBS and the entire national media for that matter wants the Heat to advance because then the precious Wade gets to playu more. Could a telecast have been any more one sided? ESPN gave the Hawks about 2 seconds coverage Monday after their win and then did 2 sidebars on the Heat this morning – one on Wade. Of course most nights the Hawks don’t make any highlights on Sports Center.

oldmike….Its clear ESPN is biased and TBS of all networks appear to have been that way last night as well. But thats going to happen. The HAWKS are NOT ready yet. When these HAWKS group up and start to beat up on some of the big name teams, then you’ll see ESPN come crawling. But for now, first or second round and out. Some things that are very obvious though:

1. Get a real coach!!! The HAWKS offense was once again predictable.
2. Joe Johnson is a STAR….Dywane Wade is a SUPERSTAR!
3. The HAWKS missed tons of free throws (JJ missed 4 in the first quarter alone!) It still baffles me that a million dollar profressional ball player cant hit free throws but demands top dollar! Are you kidding me??!!
4. They didnt even try and guard the 3 point line at all last night.
5. I know there are some true fans out there, but last night after the break i was watching as some people were up waving towels but a majority were just sitting and looking around. Atlanta professional sports fans are ther worst i have ever seen. Got a long way to go people!

I was at the game last night and could not have been more disappointed in the way we played. As a fan of the Hawks, I can handle getting beaten in hard fought game. But the Hawks were outplayed in every aspect of that game last night. We didn’t hustle, we didn’t play team ball, we were outcoached, and most importantly, we didn’t play defense. Our season long criticized D was at its worst last night. And with all due respect to Josh Smith, he can be one of the most athletic and exciting players in the league, but he allowed Michael Beasley and Udonis Haslem to really make a difference last night. Dwyane Wade is Dwyane Wade. He is phenomenal. But the fact that we allowed Jemario Moon and DeQuan Cook and other role players to put an exclamation point on that game last night and ruin all momentum we potentially could have had headed to Miami is disheartening. Joe Johnson and Josh Smith need to stop dribbling in the lane with their heads down and start moving the ball. And Flip Murray and Mo Evans have got to step up with Marvin’s injury obviously still playing a factor. Yeah, Miami couldn’t miss. But there’s a pretty good reason for that. If you’re slow getting around screens and lazy playing man defense, you will get torn apart by a team with four, maybe even five, very solid outside shooters. For all of you who don’t recall, DeQuan Cook won this year 3-point contest. Dwyane Wade is a superstar and possibly this year’s MVP. Michael Beasley was one of college basketball’s best players last year. And James Jones and Jemario Moon will knock down open shots. Contain them on the perimeter and you will win the game. We were too content and comfortable after game 1 and figured that Miami would just lay down. I hope this was a wake up call because if the Hawks come out flat in Miami, it’ll be a lot worse than a 15 point loss. A 26 point smackdown four nights ago is a distant memory. Miami gets to go back home with mission accomplished.

Ok, how can you not blame one part of the game loss on officiating? If your players are in foul trouble obviously they are going to back off slightly. And the way the heat were driving in the lanes that’s all they needed. Yes, they came out with no intensity and played like the game was already theirs. But, if they called the game this bad, I can only imagine what its going to be like in Miami. Paul pierce would be proud of the way Dwayne was running into players trying to draw a call..There is no excuse for the wide open shots the rest of the team was taking throughout the game. I don’t mind wade scoring a bunch as long as his teammates score little…that’s a victory any day. Which was almost proven if the hawks could have made some shots with 8 minutes to go. I believe it was 4 trips down the offensive side of the court with no basket. When you are down 7….thats where they blew it. PS…MAKE YOUR FREE THROWS J..J…J…JOE. Hawks still have the better team and I believe they will win the series nonetheless….oh ya…ATL we have the worst fans…we just sit there and do nothing as game goes on….and we can’t even make it out to a playoff game when we probably have the cheapest tickets out of any team in the playoffs right now…wake up you boring Atlanta people!

Looks like the zebras found their whistles last night. I know its the “Unwritten Commandment of the NBA”, but it still irritates me… DWade, and other highly marketed superstars, gets the calls from the refs, and when that’s happening it becomes next to impossible to win against them. I know, it’s part of the game so you just learn to lump it, but it still ticks me off. The Heat are a mediocre team at best, but with Wade (who’s a fantastic player, no doubt), and the NBA’s penchant for giving ‘the benefit of the doubt’ to star players its gonna be an uphill battle for the Hawks that i’m not feeling to great about right now. Those ticky-tack calls out on the perimeter they were giving Wade were just uncalled for in a playoff atmosphere. Without the benefit of a real good memory, i can still recall a one against Mo Evans, Flip Murray and one against Joe Johnson that were very, very, VERY borderline calls that i feel were BS calls, especially in the playoffs. Many of you will say, But he only had what, 10pts or so off of free throws? True. Around one third, one fourth of his scoring total. But what else did it give them? An extended stay for Joe Johnson on the bench for one. An open invitation to drive the lane for another. Josh cannot meet people at the rim with the fear of drawing his fourth foul in the middle of the third, so him and everyone else has to play down. I know that it wasn’t as bad as it could be; we’ve all seen it where it’s been much worse, and that offensive foul they called on Wade late when driving against a planted Bibby is an example. But by then the Hawks were on the outside looking in. If the calls go that way in our own house, just pay attention to how things go down around South Beach. Remember Wade pouting in game one? I know exactly what he was pouting about and everyone else does too. He wasn’t getting the calls. My belief is honestly Wade can’t win without them and it’s also my belief the Hawks rarely get those kinds of calls on their behalf. I know we’ve all heard comments by the TV analysts (that is, if you actually watch the Hawks during the regular season as i do) that Joe Johnson needs to learn to complain to refs more. Really? Whine, complain, moan, be a baby and get yourself the calls you should be getting? A very poor state of affairs i’d say, but that’s the way it is i guess… Still pulling for the guys. We are the better team.

The Hawks are charlatans and y’all know it. Even if they were to beat the Heat, which they won’t, there is a snowball’s chance in hell that they will take down LeBron and the Cavs. D-Wade is the real deal and Kincaid can suck it. Everyone has off nights and there was no point in Wade killing himself in the 2nd half of an obvious blowout in Game 1. All they needed was one win in ATL and they got it. Heat in 6.

From my eyes, we were never in this one. We didn’t make Wade work and we missed easy shots. On another note, it’s always bothered me a little that they let a wild animal fly around in Philips and last night I was reminded why. As that poor bird sat on top of the scoreboard and the goal, I was angry that the handler was nowhere to be seen and the officials couldn’t postpone the game for a few minutes to let somebody deal with the creature. The noise and lights in the place was enough to disorient any animal and people using camera flashes right in the bird’s eyes was maddening. Let’s stick to the stupid human tricks in the future.

I agree with the above posts in regards to the officiating. It’s not just the number of free throws that each team is awarded, it’s when they are called and what type of fouls are being called. It was obvious from the beginning that the ref’s were going to control the game by calling some real cheap (ticky-tack) b.s. in the first quarter. They were calling some soft reaches, which in turn gave the Heat and Wade free roam to the basket. Any uneducated fan would just assume that the overall count is what’s important….WRONG!

If we go back to the days of Pat Riley as head coach of the Heat, he would constantly push the boundaries of what is and isn’t a foul (he practically wrote the book). His teams were known to keep as much pressure on each player and force the ref’s to “call a foul on every play”. If one team is given that much of an advantage, then the rest of the game has already been pre-determined. This is the playoffs where the “stars” are given preferential treatment and where “soft play” is normally eliminated. If any of you believe that the REFS weren’t going to be a factor, then you are delirious.

With that being said, they (the NBA) got what they wanted. A series tied at 1-1 and one of there treasured stars/marketing machines into the series spotlight. I have a hard time believing the Hawks will get any calls in Miami, but if this series holds true to form they will push for seven games. Here is my prediction: The Hawks will win one of the next two (the game the refs “let em play) and will hold court into the seventh game.

These cry, excuse-making Hawks fans need to stop fueling the “joke’s” fire then.

Also the “joke” actually makes hawks fan realize how silly they sound. The heat played awesome, shot lights out. The tempo was completely controlled by the Heat from the start of the game. They forced the hawks into their weakness, halfcourt basketball. The hawks played really bad and dumb on top of all that.

Yet some babies here can only blame the refs! Yes, the refs made all of Wade’s and Cook’s 3s go in, right?

truth of the matter is, (and I hate to admit it) charles was right last night. At Game 1, Heat fans were complaining about THEIR TEAM and THE REFS.

I was there, and I heard them crying THE ENTIRE NIGHT.

Face it, the rest of the nation sees Atlanta and Miami as the worst sports towns, and it’s still undecided who’s worse (Atlanta fans with no recent championships to celebrate, or Miami fans that can’t support a championship franchise). We BOTH know how hard that reputation is to shake, and we BOTH know that great weather makes sports less of a priority ;)

“They’ve had a chance to watch the film from Game 1,” Woodson said prior to the game. “They will make adjustments. It’s just a matter of how we react to it.”

“We did everything we could offensively to control the pace,” Heat coach Eric Spoelstra said.

“We didn’t get any stops,” Woodson said. “We were pretty good in Game 1 in running them off the basket. We were not so good this time.”

“We didn’t star the game with a sense of urgency like we did in the first game,” Hawks forward Josh Smith said. “We also didn’t play together. You put those two negatives together, and that’s what causes us to lose. If you look back in the past, whenever we play selfish on the offensive end, things don’t get working on the defensive end.”

“You’ve got to give them credit,” Williams said. “The made it a point come out and make shots in this game, and between Cook and Dwyane Wade, they didn’t really miss from beyond the arc. They played well, man.”

“It’s starts with me,” Johnson said. “I definitely have to pick my play up. But I just thought we came out too complacent. We were nothing like the first game. We won that first game and felt like we won the series already. We didn’t have that fire in our belly. And they jumped on us, and we never recovered.”

For all the whiners:

Point #1: Hawks can still win this. Sheesh. Game 1 and Game 2 just show that this is series is up for grabs, and we already knew that before last Sunday night.

Point #2: this was not a referee problem; it was an intensity and focus problem on the part of the mostly young Hawks

Point #3: Forget not having a “true” center balogna–where would the Hawks be without Bibby?? if they don’t re-sign him for next few years, I don’t think the Hawks are in any serious discussion of being in the Elite of the East.

HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What type of fool are you, does Miami actually have FANS???? Last I checked, your “fans” are non-existent. We certainly have our challenges here in the ATL with support, but you guys don’t even care about your “HEAT”. I believe the correct term for that attitude is APATHY. The funny thing is if you are a HEAT fan, your posts suggest and support my above mentioned APATHETIC attitude. You will only post when your so called team wins but you will disappear once you get your head handed to you.

One long-time Hawks fan’s perspective.
1-Joe Johnson played quite poorly.
2-We missed FAR too many free-throws.
3-The Heat made everything they threw up (see 15 3’s, especially that crap that Wade banked in late)
4-We were still in the game late in the 4th quarter.
-Don’t give up on the Birds after 1 game where everything that could go wrong did for the Hawks.

Enough about the refs. Every game, every series has calls each team can use as an excuse, they seem to always end up evening out. For every call you think was bad you can see 5 that are not called.

This is a very even series, The hawks have a better overall team but Miami has a superstar, this evens it out.

It takes 4 to win, not 1. This series can go either way.

We will beat the heat in 7 in atlanta. The braves just need to get rid of BOOBY COX sucker because they have a young talented team. Am i the only 1 who realize matt stafford is getting ready to do the joey harrington to detroit. I think the bulldogs will actually contend for a title this year. And as far as the falcons go, i have lived thru the chris millers, jeff george, chris chandler(i can say he got us to a superbowl). This Hawks team has the talent, but no mental ability. Just when the whole city is behind you, you go out and lay an egg!!! This is all on Woodson, as a coach you have to have your team mentally prepared to go and perform at a high level every night. This Heat team is much weaker than the Hawks are, but now it’s up to all the Hawks players to prove us wrong and take back home court.

The Hawks can beat the Miami Heat. It is an extremely simple formula for the Hawks to pull off. First, the Hawks should double and triple team D-Wade. Secondly, the Hawks should run the floor, fastbreak alot and use the lob and ally oops to Josh Smith as in game 1. [It worked so well to the tune of a 26-point blowout of the Heat./Dont forget it.] The Hawks should also give Flip Murray more minutes and utilize his excellent 3-point shooting. I think if the Hawks can execute this plus play steller defense as in game 1, it should be an easy series for the Hawks to win. In addition, dont let the Heat players shoot 3-s uncontested. At least get up in their jerseys, put a hand in their face and make them struggle to make those shots. All of this executed will make the Hawks winners in their series with the Heat. Wade is good, but he wouldnt have won a title without Shaquille O’Neal.

I know the Hawks will beat the Cavs if they make it to the next series. I know the Hawks will beat Orlando should they face them in the Eastern Conference Finals. I also know that the Hawks will beat the Lakers if they face the Lakers in the finals. What I dont know is if the Hawks can get past the pesky heat because the Heat are so close to the Hawks as far as record in the regular season is concerned. What Im telling you and what Im assuring you is that if the Hawks get past the Heat, THERE IS NO ONE ENTITY, PERSON OR TEAM THAT WILL STOP THE HAWKS FROM BECOMMING THIS YEARS NBA CHAMPIONS AND YOU CAN CERTAINLY TAKE THAT ONE TO THE BANK!

Wow! The Heat had the lead the entire game and I keep reading peoples comments about a bank 3 pointer?! Great players make great shots.

If you’re a NBA basketball fan than you know the Wade is a top-three if not league MVP this year. Also Beasley was the # 2 pick in the draft and Cook is the reining champion.

So the players play like they’re suppose too…and everyone act surprised?

In game one the Atlanta Defense sagged in the middle trying to contain Wade at the rim. Their man defense at times lookes like a zone D out there. So Spoelstra looked at some tape, changed the lineup, and the Heat took game two in Atlanta with shooting and not allowing easy fastbreak layups on missed drives to the hoop.

What’s the Vegas odds that Woodson gives that same look of bewilderment when Bibby gets called for grabbing Wades arm? 2-1?

Can’t wait for game three! It’s always fun to talk after them!

You cant become a finalist in the NBA without a bonefied NBA center. The Hawks dont have one. Horford is a power forward. Thats his natural position. He plays it well. He can spent a short time a the 5 when we go small but the hawks have no answer when we need to go big. Other teams will run down our throats, with very high percentage shots…ZaZa is laughable. Any good team with a center will open up the outside game. Thats why Miami traded for O neal before the playoffs. He denies you in the paint, doesnt turn the ball over, scores in the low post and thereby open the shooting lanes for Wade…do I need to mention Offensive boards?

Hawks need a center.

Lifelong Atlanta Fan

The great thing about being someone who was born and raised and lived in Atlanta for almost 40 years is that you get to become a professional sports fan. This Hawks team is very much like over 99% of the teams that we’ve experienced (that’s 38 seasons of baseball, basketball and football and 19 years of hockey) in that they don’t win a championship. So we get extremely enthusiastic about the playoffs. We cherish them as they are so rare. Even when the Braves were a perennial playoff team they failed to win but one championship when they clearly had one of the greatest pitching staffs ever assembled for a decade. We know deep down that this team isn’t even one of the top ten teams in the league. They play in the East which is weak currently. We know that they missed their opportunities in the recent drafts to grab a couple of superstars. We know that they are now in the worst possible place as a team in the NBA. A middle of the pack team which means they won’t get a lottery pick and they wont go far in the playoffs. We are haunted that the franchise in Atlanta has never gotten past the second round of the playoffs.

So we grasp for any sliver of hope. We get way to high on one win. Way too low on one loss. We felt like last years first round loss to Boston was a success. Was it? We lost. Were we from a city that wins would we feel the same. Would we accept mediocrity. Truth is, we don’t know anything but mediocrity.

Regardless of the outcome of this series we may win one game in the next round. Then what. We need a center. Haven’t had one in a while. Need to use the bench. Need to use athleticism by moving the ball rather than playing one on one on each offensive set. Need a couple of lobotomies for our players during critical times. Need a coach who is flexible. Need ownership that is stable. Need to win. Nothing less. Winning is what the fans need. We don’t know what it feels like and mistake any shiny object as gold.

But I ain’t moving. I am building lifelong character as an Atlanta professional sports fan.

Hey Y’all:

Don’t worry. this is a “marathon” and not a sprint. This was just one game. However, I am more than confident that our Hawks are in shape and prepared to go at this series andothers for the long haul. The Heat struck back with a wicked right hand, however, we are still on our feet. That punch stunned us but it made us mad hell to chew the Heats butt up when we get to Miami.

Now we are more than prepared for game 3 and you will see. Our Hawks will be scrapping and going real “crazee”. So get in front of your TV and have the best seat. This game is Hawks and you will see in Game 3.

So relax and don’t let that loss at Phillips phase ya. The Hawks are just changing gears and strategy to really amaze ya. Now watch them dance. Now watch them move their feet to the “D”. I bet these Hawks beat the damn Heat.

Therefore, if you love basketball and you like it to the core. Be prepared to see these Hawks win this series in more than 4.

Everyone says the Heat won’t shoot so well again. So what? Would anyone be surprised if the Hawks miss more FT (playing on the road), or shoot 35% from 3? The Heat have shooters, and the Hawks have to play good defense and stop talking about how the Heat wont shoot that well again. The only way to be sure is to close out defensively, and guard the 3 point line.

I’m a big Hawks fan, but I was disappointed in the way the Hawks played. Before game 2. Mike Bibby said “Pump your brakes, the series is still 0-0″. But we still come out with no intensity? Our coach makes no adjustments during the game. If we’re not getting any calls when we drive, how about design a play for JJ or Bibby to get them an easy shot? Woody doesnt know how to do that.

It bothers me that the Hawks are so inconsistent. The could come out and play really well and win game 3, but then they could just as easily lose game 4 and 5.

Before anything else know this, the last two games are as much a part of the past as Caesar’s wars against the guals and celts, and the Hawks can no more regain game two than they can reclaim their great grandfathers from their graves. It’s gone, but choice remains. At some point in everyone’s life, they have a choice, to shrink back or to charge forward, to settle for being ordinary or be great, to excel to heights greater than they could fathom, or fall back into the darkness from whence they’d come. The life of a team during an NBA season is not so different, but it is in the playoffs that that choice is made. The Hawks can either take the fight to the Heat, or have it taken to them. They can execute on both ends of the floor for four quarters, or they can be victimized, again. They can either bring their A game for the rest of the series, and for the rest of the finals or they can all sit around for the next fifty years wondering what the hell would have happened if they had. In the end, it’s all about choice and I’ll be very interested to see what decision they make over the next five games.

I’ve noticed a few comments about Woodson’s ineffectiveness…and I agree completely. It is human nature to get complacent after a lopsided win as was the case in game 1. And it is painfully obvious that Coach Woodson did not have his team prepared mentally for game 2. There is no way the Hawks will win in the playoffs on the road with such a lack of discipline and consistency…and that boils down to Coach Woodson.

Greg Oden isn’t any good and he was a number one pick. Why don’t you give us some names? There isn’t anybody out there. This team has some motivational issues (also known as coaching). I appreciate your choosing to address me. If you had read my many post you would have read of my suggestions of who the Hawk could get as a center.

My post here is for Schultz and all the Woody haters, who can seem to appreciate the excellent job Woody has done with such a handicap.

I would not have suggested either of the names on your list. They would not be a good fit.

Im not going to exert any enegy to enlighten you. The arrogance in your note addressing me tells me that you arent searching for truth and have very limited intelligence.

I do wish you the best and hope you have a nice day.
