To our traveling companions on the highway of life

I lost a close, longtime friend last fall, and this week some of us who knew the man best are gathering from around the country for the first time since he left us so suddenly. We’ve told stories, laughed a lot and handled a few moments of sadness. It’s all good, as they say.

The experience brought this cut to mind, recorded by friends of George Harrison a year after his passing. The guitarist looking uncannily like a young George is his son Dhani, who at the time of the video was probably around 24. All things must pass.

Everyone should just make up their own time. I would
prefer a Darkness Saving Time as the Sun has been
declared a Hazard to Health.

I have concluded that time is essentially useless
except for lunch dates.

GH, time inspired a pretty decent Bowie tune from his glam-rock days.

Time travel exists but only forward and is highly uncoordinated.

Time, the topic of the sermon tonight is time
Time, the thief of hope
Time, the ameliorator of all our endeavors
What will we do with time off our backs?
We would make this world a perfect place
We would make our lives a perfect thing, if not for time
But I tell you now, time is an illusion
Time is an illusion, time is not real
Time is the dividing line between what is true and what is not true
Between what is real and what is not real
Between what is so and what is not so
But who, I said who, who stands for time?
Who stands at the threshold of time?
Who decides what is true and what is not true?
We do, you and I
You and I decide what is true and what is not true
What shall be our guiding light?
Happiness, I say happiness

godless, stands

Lengthy periods of Daylight Savings Time is our lawmakers way of addressing America’s energy problems. Even though theres little evidence it actually saves any energy, our politicians will stick like super glue to this time change. So, if questioned by the public as to what they’re doing about our energy problems, they have a ready answer and will swear it really does save energy.

Only in America.

Well, I reckon me and old Newt are on pretty good terms. He sent me another e-mail yesterday letting me know what him and his wife Calista are up to. I would of wrote back except I’m pretty sure he don’t want to hear about the missus latest diet and the goings-on at Billy Bob’s and the warehouse. I would invite him to get on here to Bookman’s blog except I know this big clot of libruls would be rude to him and hurt his feelings. That’s just the kind of classless people they are.

Anyhow, I wonder how many people will be late for work today on account of not resetting their clocks. It’s always a good excuse for being late for work.

I reckon Bookman will be back shortly. Otherwise I don’t see no need to join in with the fussing and feuding that always goes on here. This bunch would find a reason to fight if they was walking on streets of gold and had everything they could ever want.

Have a good Monday everybody.

Sam & Dave – Dave was from Ocilla Georgia (near Fitzgerald & Tifton). He died in a car accident on what was known as “dead man’s curve” near Ocilla.

It is completely ridiculous to change the time every year……. no good purpose comes from it. The gub’ment just can’t leave the private sector (nature) alone.

Morality, the very song I played frequently to sustain me during your “Decider’s” reign.

And I have no way of knowing, of course, but I suspect that Harrison would have been infinitely less impressed with George than Barack.

But play on to whatever tune moves you…

BF 8:08 Best I know Sam is still working – his last album was in 2009. He and Dave were inducted in to the Music Hall of Fame and are known as the best duo in music history. worked together, off and on, from the early 60’s until 1981 when Dave died on “dead man curve”. Of course “Soul Man” was their most successful song and was used in the Blues Brothers movies where Sam had a “cameo” role. An amusing note – Obama was using Sam & Dave’s music in his campaign rallies without asking Sam’s permission and Sam sued Obama and won the lawsuit. He also sued Bob Dole when Dole changed the lyrics in his campaign to “Dole Man”. Sam liked suing people/
