“Ben, the two of us need look no more …”

rat.though.transferx299

Using brain implants, researchers at Duke University have allowed lab rats to communicate with each other, brain to brain, in a crude form of mental telepathy. In fact, researchers say, the two rats quickly began to collaborate, with one rat using its “brain-to-brain interface” to assist the second one in figuring out how to complete a task that would bring both of them a reward.*

In a sense, the two rats became a single biological entity. As researchers concluded, lab results “are a clear indicator that a fundamentally more complex system emerged from the operation of the BTBI; one which required considerable adaptation from the participant animals so that they could jointly perform the sensorimotor tasks.”

At one point, and just to show off, the experiment was conducted with one rat located in Brazil and a second in North Carolina, giving new meaning to Internet connectivity.

I will now give you a paragraph taken from the scientific paper reporting these discoveries, followed by a general translation:

“… we have already proposed that, in theory, channel accuracy can be increased if instead of a dyad a whole grid of multiple reciprocally interconnected brains are employed. Such a computing structure could define the first example of an organic computer capable of solving heuristic problems that would be deemed non-computable by a general Turing-machine.”

Translation: If we electronically connect not just two rat brains, but whole swarms of rat brains, one to the other, theoretically the rat swarm will become much much smarter than any individual rat, perhaps capable of solving problems that even powerful supercomputers can’t solve.

I just thought you would want to know, just in case.

“Obamacare by itself is so destructive to our country, we’ve only begun to realize its cataclysmic possibilities.”

And yet Obama would likely never have been elected if the GOP hadn’t sat around lazily, not desiring to solve problems for the common man. Then, instead of Obamacare, we might have gotten something that will actually work – a way to effectively cut and minimize the increase in the costs of healthcare so that everyone could afford some kind of plan. But the were like GHWB in 1991 when he asked “What economic problem”?

william, quit lying to try and defend your earlier lies.

WASHINGTON — The United States Supreme Court considered Wednesday whether the stains of slavery and segregation still warrant aggressive federal intervention in the voting procedures of a few targeted areas.

The Court’s conservatives voiced sharp skepticism of Section 5 of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which is aimed at nine states, including Georgia, and parts of seven other states. Based on their history of discriminating at the polls, those “covered jurisdictions” are required to get prior federal approval for any change affecting voting.

Chief Justice John Roberts at one point asked Solicitor General Donald Verrilli, who was defending the law: “Is it the submission of the government that citizens in the South are more racist than citizens in the North?”

Verrilli said no, the government is merely claiming that the record assembled by Congress in its 2006 renewal of the law showed persistent problems in certain parts of the country. Those problems, he said, continue to warrant Section 5’s unequal treatment of targeted states, most of which are in the Deep South.

White Power is finally dying in America.

Hallelujah…

Oh I suspect it’s probably not accidental. It’s generally considered highly unwise for an American politician aspiring to high office to allow there to be any speculation as to possible Marxist affiliations. But as it happens, Obama doesn’t have to worry too much. He is anything but a Marxist.

In fact, if one wanted to see whether Obama was a Marxist or not, don’t you think a good way to do it might be to evaluate their embrace — or lack therof — of actual leaders around the world who are, you know actually espousing and advancing policies that fall somewhere within the general Marxist framework? You know, like say Hugo Chavez? And what does the great Marxist Obama actually think about him?

He can’t get far enough away from him. That’s what. And the reason is that Barack Obama has utter contempt for any Marxist analysis of world capitalism.

Oh, please. Which was (is) more permanent, that which was legally codified or that which was (is) socially codified? Once the laws were struck down, so was the basis for the conventions. With no law to strike down, the entrenched racism/classism/ethnocentricism has not only remained en force, but in many ways has actually grown stronger.

The ghetto, you know, is a Northern convention and by that I don’t mean a black thingie, but the real meaning of a ghetto.

And, wasn’t it KANSAS where segregation was challenged with Brown v TOPEKA Board of Education?

Secondly, and I’ve said it here before, we never experienced virulent anti Semitism (i.e. attack on the street) or anti Indianism (i.e. get back to the rez, you’ll not get this promotion, so don’t even ask) until we left this part of the country…

Bottom line, Towncrier, is that in suggesting that Barack Obama is a Marxist, you simply show your own ignorance.

Barack Obama, after all, is the man who next to Roosevelt arguably did more than any other single individual in the entire history of capitalism in actually intervening directly to save capitalism from itself. That’s what he did. And believe me, the lords of capital should be eternally grateful to him (and when they aren’t faking anger to keep the rubes fooled, I suspect in their heart of hearts that’s exactly what they do)..

Awwww ………… it’s such a shame the White House (Obama) didn’t have the guts to come out with this BEFORE the election.

“In fact, if one wanted to see whether Obama was a Marxist or not, don’t you think a good way to do it might be to evaluate their embrace — or lack therof — of actual leaders around the world who are, you know actually espousing and advancing policies that fall somewhere within the general Marxist framework?”

Well, I personally don’t think he’s a Marxist. I was only pointing out that someone very influential in his life was one. I do, however, think he has socialistic leanings – perhaps a a result of Davis and others he “communed” with in the course of his life. But just as he doesn’t want people to know of his affiliation with Davis, he similarly doesn’t want people to know of his socialistic leanings. And that is why I dislike him so much – because I think he is practicing deceit. I remember when, in an interview, he mistakenly referred to himself as a Muslim. At the very least, I think that shows he is not a very sincere “Christian” – as I have never heard any such person make that mistake. Or someone like Huckabee. It perhaps can happen, but it sure is strange.

1. I don’t recall the Supremes saying they were taking up this case before the election.

2. Now that they have, there are many who are glad you are elated that Obama is stating his preference to the courts. As did “empty chair” Eastwood and numerous other Republicans.

I didn’t, Sherlock. Read my follow-up post.

Oh boy. Obamolatry. And I don’t have a very high opinion of FDR either. We did not really get out of the depression until after WWII. I don’t call that kind of “intervention” successful. I am not sure why anyone would.

“You want to make a bet and then turn around and say the most likely to listen are those who represent you in Congress. What did I just suggest that you do?”

You said to “call” Obama or someone in the Senate. I have little evidence that works. The best way to contact those representing me is via e-mail. If I am a constituent of their state or district, my e-mail may not get screened out by handlers. Since they are all Republicans at this point (and have already asked for something in writing from Obama), you are asking me to “call” Democratic leaders for whom I did not vote or who do not represent my district or state. That suggestion strikes me as naive and unrealistic. Got it now?

Towncrier, my apologies. I didn’t see your later post.

“”Well, I personally don’t think he’s a Marxist. I was only pointing out that someone very influential in his life was one. I do, however, think he has socialistic leanings”

But you see that’s just the thing. What is “socialist”? Does a socialist (in the sense you mean it, as synonymous with Marxist) see to it that banks get literally everything they want? Do they appoint as Treasury secretary the ultimate of Wall St. insiders, a man who coddled and coached the banks, intervened and jockeyed on their behalf, acting at every step in their interests?

As things stood when he took office, a true enemy of capitalism could have dealt it a crippling blow. At the very least he could have done what Roosevelt did and impose strict controls on it. But this one simply has not done that. And Dodd-Frank doesn’t count.
