Conservatives have no interest in what Chris Christie might say

Yup, it's a real head-scratcher.

Yup, it's a real head-scratcher.

Chris Christie is a nationally popular Republican governor of a blue state in the Northeast, a region where the GOP barely remains competitive. He has a 74 percent approval rating, in a state that Barack Obama carried by 18 percentage points. In fact, no Republican presidential candidate has managed to carry New Jersey since 1988.

Yet Christie has been pointedly NOT invited to speak to the highly influential Conservative Political Action Conference, which meets in Washington, D.C. next month. The confab is widely considered an essential showcase for Republicans with presidential aspirations.

Bobby Jindal will be there. A speech by Ted Cruz will close the convention. The NRA’s Wayne LaPierre has a place of honor on the program. Under the rubric “America’s Future: The Next Generation of Conservatives,” Republican up-and-comers Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, Rand Paul and Sarah Palin — wait, Sarah Palin? — will thrill convention-goers.

And for anyone who has grown nostalgic for those wonderfully intelligent, provocative 2012 Republican presidential debates, Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum will play featured roles.

But no Chris Christie. According to CPAC organizers, the man has proved himself too liberal to be extended an invitation. The pristine conservative minds of CPAC attendees must not be offended by exposure to someone who dares to venture outside the approved ideology, even if that someone might offer the party a way out of the political wilderness. For much the same reason, the Log Cabin Republicans and GOProud, two gay Republican groups, have once again been banned outright from the convention.

So, same as it ever was.

The sky is falling BS coming from all BO’s sheep is utter BS. We are talking about slowing growth not current cuts. Second, why hasn’t he pushed for eliminating the billions of waste in all departments he identified himself. Finally, the way in which he portrays outcomes is disappointing and disingenuous. So slowing growth is going to cause sky to fall…BS

Additionally, the departments should have discretion to select best means to limit growth…many other options than layoffs, furlows, threatening national security, starving children….none of that will happen.

The idiots on the right will evidence the ultimate signal of stupid if they don’t go over cliff…best political opportunity in years…

Far easier for the president to evoke that falling sky. Expect many more announcements like Tuesday’s from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement: An unspecified number of ICE detainees being held for deportation have been released from custody. Cue the predictable keening from an ICE spokeswoman about “our limited detention resources in the current fiscal climate …”

Doggone, my musical muse Todd Rundgren doesn’t swear much at all in his 30+ records, but he does reserve a few great ones for Jesse Helms, Tipper Gore and a certain Bishop of Rome…

From the (in)famous drunk concert…

He heard her crying,
But he couldn’t make out a word she said.
She was alone and frightened.
She was wishing she was dead.
She knew it was hopeless.
He was way up there, and she was way down here.
Still she called his name out
In a voice that was loud and clear.
She said I know it sounds so weird,
But I wanna f&ck you, Johnny.
I wanna f&ck you, Johnny.
I wanna hold you down
And f&ck you while you squirm
And force you to bring that thing to term.
I wanna say “f&ck you,” John Paul II.

“If we are going to wet our pants over 0.3% in annual spending cuts when we’re running up trillion dollar annual deficits, then we’re done. Put a fork in us. We’re finished. We’re going to default eventually and that’s why the feds are stockpiling buIIets in case of civil unrest.” — Sarah Palin

“He doesn’t have a clue. He’s never had a business. He’s never had a real job. He doesn’t understand how it all works. He’s just — as you know, I don’t really support him too well and he knows it and that’s a badge honor.

He’s bad. And I supported him, I voted for him first time around I had hopes because he is black, shame on me. He is not Adam Smith. He does not believe in capitalism the way America, our Founding Fathers did it. He is very social and it’s getting borderline communist.”

“Well, it’s so anti-capitalistic, this distribution of wealth, that to me, that says it all. He wants to redistribute wealth, take money that was honestly earned and taxed by people who struggled and suffered and did and paid the price to win that money or at least keep it.

He wants to take it from them, give it to people who don’t have to do a thing. It’s the will of the state to oversee everyone and for the unions to control the employees and for the CEOs just to sit and be quiet while he we take all we can and then tax the rest.”
