LOL actually that’s Terry Branstad, Iowa governor.
I actually was kind of impressed that he would get up there and allow himself to look so silly…
And td, I could be wrong – and you will, I’m sure, immediately correct me if so – but Obama never said it was “all the idea” of the Republicans. And of course the ‘middle class tax increase’ that has you and your fellow travelers so exercised was simply the expiration of a temporary social security tax reduction. Of course you knew that too…

“Obama has been sowing the seeds of racial hatred; we were healing quite well as a nation on racial issues until Obama came along and now we have a lot of racial discord. He may begin wiping out a few hundred people who own guns, pull a large scale Waco or a Ruby Ridge type incident and have it tinged it with racial overtones. But just in case Obama goes through with his plans to take down the Internet, people are setting up phone-trees all over the place to stop Obama in his tracks.”
Blogger Greg Howard, on the Talk To Solomon Show, 2-19-2012.
Love this kind of stuff, it makes me feel really well adjusted. Gotta run, time to go track down a phone tree.

Says a member of a gang that has a 2% black representation in a nation that is 13.1% black.
And conversely is 90% white in a country that is 63.4% white.

Just to further expand on the wartime presidency thing:
Do you not think it is going to take an inordinate amount of historical lensing (and more that a few bottles of white-out) to judge the war in Iraq as justified in terms of US military casualty count and financial cost? (nearly 5,000 dead and over 30,000 wounded and $800B and counting?)

Sometimes your total lack of knowledge when you think you know everything just amazes me.
Presidents do not even get a full reading of their records for at least 50 years after they have left office (due to national security top secret papers). There are still documents from JFK’s term that are still classified. A real historian can not do a proper job of analyzing a Presidents contribution (or lack thereof) on the national security prospective until all the documents are available (since you claim to be a vet then you of all people should have an understanding of this one would think).
The polls you drag out are nothing more then a media feel good story. They mean nothing as far as what the historians will really say about a President.

The 2% increase is taxes is what the propaganda machine (Lame stream media) of the President wants the low information voters to think about and is not what I am talking about. What about all the middle class people with 401K investments that now pay 20% instead of 15% on their long term investments? What about all the middle class people that are going to pay for every needle used, machine attached too, test done in that hidden Obamacare tax? How much has the middle classes taxes been raised now when you consider these added taxes?

Only individuals who make more than $450,000/yr (married) pay the new 20% rate on long-term capital gains. And that only only personal investments — not on 401(k)s.
Even this is much less than the former 28% rate that was in place til King Dumbass the First took office.

Keynes’ theories are standing the test of time quite well thank you.
Even one of his most vocal critics in the 90’s, Gregory Mankiw, wrote in November 2008 in The New York Times:
“If you were going to turn to only one economist to understand the problems facing the economy, there is little doubt that the economist would be John Maynard Keynes. Although Keynes died more than a half-century ago, his diagnosis of recessions and depressions remains the foundation of modern macroeconomics. His insights go a long way toward explaining the challenges we now confront. . . . Keynes wrote, ‘Practical men, who believe themselves to be quite exempt from any intellectual influence, are usually the slave of some defunct economist.’ In 2008, no defunct economist is more prominent than Keynes himself.”

According to Forbes rankings, Detroit is the most miserable city in the United States.
Home to violent crimes, high unemployment, decreasing population and economic crises, Detroit beat out Miami (last years winner) along with Flint-MI, Chicago-IL, and Modesto-CA. The news comes on the heels of a panel of experts who said last week “the automotive city was facing a fiscal emergency and potential bankruptcy, as well as a possible financial takeover by the state.”
The criteria: “Forbes looked at 200 of the country’s largest urban areas and ranked them on factors including crime rates, foreclosures, taxes, home prices, commute times, weather and decreasing populations.”
Detroit has been run by Democrat mayors since 1964.
The top ten miserable cities:
1. Detroit, MI
2. Flint, MI
3. Rockford, IL
4. Chicago, IL
5. Modesto, CA
6. Vallejo, CA
7. Warren, MI

If the yellow poodles did a little research they would discover the country was doing very well with GWB and the GOP in control. Things fell apart when Pelosi and Reid took over. THATS A FACT!!

“struts her stuff”?
The ever continuing slide to a lower standard. No horror, Bill Clinton lowered that bar already.

If the GOP does anything other than call BO’s bluff, they should be completely turned over…they probably need that already.
The closer the sequester gets, the higher the volume of gloom, doom and despair directly from the WH..If they truly believe that, they too should support cliff jumping. If BO can then drag up alledged negatively impacted, starving folks after the fact, he certainly will stoop but he better be sure..
Remember the air traffic controllers in 1981 cries of “aluminum shower from the sky’?
I think this is another case of BO’s strategy of making people sick and then making them better. No way all this hysteria, if any, is realized.
Last thing this dope wants is to go over cliff and see no major impact…if he is correct, GOP’s last straw may be pulled. If he is BS’ing, tide will turn..
Last I heard only 27% of folks knew anything about sequester..

To all you who are SO UPSET about the First Lady “strutting her stuff”. Here’s a reminder for you that NO ONE is above BEING HUMAN every now and then.
Your beloved George W Bush (RAISING THE f-G ROOF)

Standing by for all of your excuses and justifications. I get it though…he was just being….”white” I guess ( er…um…excuse me ..a “diplomat”, “embracing the culture” and all THAT OTHER B-S). I put it that way for a reason, and that is to highlight the double standard for those of you who so willingly and SHAMELESSLY live by when it comes to issues of race. You won’t admit it, that ’s why gladly I do it FOR you.

I like her..and those who put forth ugly, demeaning things about her are weak, scared and mindless.
Her husband however is fair game…can’t wait to see if his predictions or starvation, planes crashing mide-air, or another attack on our shores due to weakened security prevail….
This will be a fun week. Bet measures to once again kick the can down the road, making plan to keep government running with nothing accomplished is outcome..
IMO
Odds:
Sequester: 25-1
Kick the Can: 1-4

The first lady is a super star on womanhood and one of the better mother’s I have seen too. She gets it even when the press tries so hare to control her, she is nobody’s fool. Laura Bush was a great first lady and in my mind a much better person than W. This country has been blesed the last decade with wonderful role models for our girls to see and learn from.

I dunno, I think pretty much anything tossed out by KEITH qualifies for dumbest post…. he seems to be in a class by himself.
td, for example, is always wrong, but at least he can intelligently present his views…

@StevieRay
You are correct. Her husband (the President) IS “fair game” and I will level my criticism of policies of his and OTHER politicians that do not sit well with me (and I have)…one example is the current gun control debate. Some things I agree with; the more extreme things I do not. I am a gun owner, so I have my own opinions. HOWEVER, I ALWAYS fall on the side of “intellectual honesty” (which I have come to despise the expression because it is so overused these days). Let’s not forget that we have a total 600 congresspersons roundabout who have MORE to do with this than the President ever has or ever will. Congress controls the purse strings. Along with that, you’re stretching in your characterizations of what the President has been saying and trying to do.
I just say you can’t have it both ways. You call the man a “dope” because CUTS (which you claim you want) will go into effect and in a major way. The problem is…these cuts hit one of the largest sacred cows we have – DEFENSE! That’s the problem. We seem to hate “government workers”, but everything defense related pretty much is just that. I know…I was married to that “industry” for quite a long time. Heaven forbid the defense contractors get hit in their pockets. Those grimy little “government workers” who make all of that possible though, screw THEM! They’re “overpaid. You cannot have one without the other. What the president has in fact been doing is telling people the truth about the impact. I sat and watched the JCS detail on CSPAN all of the base closings around the country that will need to happen. Now… radiate outward from there. The president is NOT lying about these things. I just think if people who oppose him simply because of the MAN he is, yet hide behind a facade saying it’s something else only hurt themselves…because it’s totally obvious to people when the arguments are dissected what’s really behind it all. Not saying that is YOU (thought he is a “dope” in your eyes), just saying in general.
