Looks like the sequester will occur , Repubs have a popular disadvantage as Obama hits the publicity trail. It will be interesting if the public really cares and who they blame if they care…Personally, I think it’s good for the country to decide if cost cutting is appropriate, of course it would be much better if we could have specified cuts.

A question to the NASCAR fans: what is it about this sport that you find interesting. I’m not much of a car person and overall am much less interested in sports then I used to be (except baseball and wrestling). Is it the personalities, the technology…?

Speed and the skill and ability to handle it. I watch NASCAR, NHRA, Formula 1, Indy, and even bar stool racing if I can catch it on tv.

Yes, let us all pitch in so that the people that do not want to take the responsibility of their own health care can get it for free so that they can still afford their tobacco habits, drinking habits, eating habits and sedentary lifestyle choices. Yes, I think this is the best move for the nation to go forward with.

Nope. Embarassed for you and your sad attempt at trolling. I didn’t like the ACA when passed and made it well known. Still don’t like it now, but the dumbass GOP failed in offering any plausible alternative. Therefore, we’re stuck with it. That’s just par for the course though as the GOP hasn’t had an original thought since Reagan.

NASCAR used to be fun to watch. Unfortunately, it has degenerated into cars just following each other around the racetrack with a so called “sprint” the last two laps.

Bottom line: Used to be you always had the extra horsepower to pass someone (if you had the guts) but you had to break for the turns. If you can’t pass someone, it ain’t racin’ it’s just “follow the leader”.

Why should there be a Federal government solution to health care? If we did not have the government solutions of Medicaid and Medicare now then the market would have determined that the prices were to high and we would have been paying less. If the government had not determined to restrict admissions to medical school then more Dr’s would be setting prices according to more competition. If government had not interfered and written all these laws that allowed lawyers to get rich at the cost of all of us that are paying premiums then health care cost would be lower.

Government is the problem when it comes to healthcare. The progressives refuse to realize this concept.

Scout

It had to change for safety reasons. Have you ever read up on Rusty Wallace’s test back in the early 2000s at Talladega?

http://www.caranddriver.com/news/rusty-runs-unrestricted-car-news

Have you ever wondered how restrictive a NASCAR restrictor plate is? Well, Rusty Wallace decided to toss his and find out. On June 9, at Alabama International Motor Speedway in Talladega, Wallace hit a trap speed of 228 mph in his Miller Lite Dodge. “We hit 228 at the end of the straightaway,” he said. Wallace’s top lap speed was 216.306 and was 25 to 30 mph faster than with a restrictor plate. “It was a helluva deal that I certainly will remember for the rest of my life,” Wallace added. “We’d all been wondering what it would feel like to run at Talladega again without the plates, and now I know. I’ll bet we could be running speeds up to 235 without the plates if we spent time doing some tweaking. But I’ll tell you this—there’s no way we could be out there racing at those speeds. It was neat to be out there running that fast by myself, but it would be insane to think we could have a pack of cars out there doing that.”

Those cars are not designed with enough downforce to stick to the track at those speeds. Bobby Allison ripped down fence at a little more than 200mph, so imagine what a 230mph car would do. They could have stuck with Winston as a sponsor, but they would not be nowhere near as popular now. They could have stuck with old tracks like North Wilkesboro and Rockingham, but the money wouldn’t be there. Change was coming or NASCAR would have died a slow and painful death.

“If the invisible hand of the market would stop giving us the finger, health care costs would drop.”

If you look at what’s caused the skyrocketing in health care costs over the past 2 decades the #1 reason, far and away, is the cost associated with obesity. We’ve turned into a nation of big fat slobs. And I don’t mean 40-somethings with a little beer gut. We’re talking about people 50, 80, 130, 210 pounds and more overweight. And they’re everywhere. But don’t dare make a subtle mention of exercise or diet modification because you’ll get blistered with “don’t you dare tell me how to live my life!”

Well the time for niceties is over. Get off your fat asses America. A 30 minute walk after dinner every evening. Is that so hard? No, no it’s not, and it goes a hell of a long way. And don’t tell me you don’t have time, you have plenty of time to sit in front of your mega-screen and jam potato chips in your mouth while watching mindless drivel such as Dancing With Talentless Millionaires.

td your 9:25 simply proves that you haven’t done your research.

Personal example – my dad retired at age 62, and lost his health insurance. He and Mom were pretty healthy – and the job was killing him, frankly – so he quit. They – because of their age – were not able to get health insurance. Within a few months my Mom developed severe arthritis in her knees, and spent the next 30 months or so in agony, till the night of her 65th birthday when she qualified for Medicare and could get knee replacement surgery.

Decry federal involvement in health care all you want – but Medicare has made a tremendous difference in lots of Americans’ lives – and there was NO private market solution available.

I expect someday you will also be glad that it’s available to you.

If you think that is true then here is your government intervention: State writes a law that says an insurance company can only do business in this state if they offer X% of policies to people over 65 or 60 or even 55. .
Sheeple are steeped in the realm of the mainstream. So much so that they have become nothing but a cog in the machine of the collective mind (or hive mind). Their entire existence is predicated on blind faith in the system. If the system is proven to be flawed, then THEY are proven to be flawed by extension. They will ignore all reason and defend the system wildly, as if trapped by some cult, because their fragile identity is dependent upon the continued prosperity of the establishment.

Sheeple are in most cases motivated by nothing but fear. In their early years they likely either caved to the force of peer pressure and learned to diminish their personal pain by constantly conforming to the majority view. Or, they sought inclusion in the majority very early on and became addicted to the power that the collective is able to wield over others. In either case, they never actually questioned whether or not the “majority” was right in its behavior. Instead, they decided at some point in their life that the majority is ALWAYS right simply because it is the majority.
Sheeple are easily impressed by anyone with a nice suit, uniform, lab coat, or an embossed diploma or title. They see and revere the costume, regardless of the man inside it. For sheeple, titles and positions of arbitrary authority make the opinions of a man more than opinion; his opinions suddenly become law.
Because the average sheeple hasn’t the slightest inkling of how to be independent or self sufficient, they attach their survival to the success of the state. They see the word of the state as sacrosanct, and have no concept of government by the people. They will sing the praises of democratic elections and the will of the public in general participation, but, when the state goes against that will and does what it pleases, they will seek to rationalize this criminality.

For them, government as a construct might be fallible (or not), but this fallibility does not change the finality of state authority. The government is not to be interfered with and certainly not to be opposed. To stand against the state is to stand against law, and the law, in their minds, is god. Questions of morality are irrelevant. They have become so far detached from their conscience that there is nothing left but a pitch black void, waiting to be filled with the demands of oligarchy.

When confronted by men who are willing to fight and die to interfere with the abuse of state authority, they respond with shock and revulsion.
.
When confronted, sheeple almost always move immediately to meaningless party labels. They will attack you as a “Democrat”. They will attack you as a “Republican”. But their presumptions of what makes a Democrat or a Republican are entirely skewed and inaccurate. This is, of course, not really a problem for them.

They will not acknowledge the vast similarities of corruption between both major parties because this does not serve their interests. They do not WANT to know what Liberalism is versus Neo-Liberalism. They do not WANT to know what true Conservatism is versus Neo-Conservatism. They only want an easy way to dismiss you and the information you present without having to think. The false left/right paradigm makes this possible.

I think your timeline is off a bit, but that’s ok. Some of you “conservatives” can’t seem to form cogent thought without someone else giving it to you first. She was First Lady for more than 4 years before this, but thanks for you concern trolling. It must have really pissed you off that she announced the winner for Best Picture at the Oscars last night.

It’s not that they don’t have a sense of humor. They probably giggle like little school girls at jokes about Mrs. Obama’s body. They’re just so uptight about things that they could crap diamonds if they had a bowel movement. They can’t control themselves and acknowledge the First Family are allowed to be people and not some holier-than-thou group.

I don’t call that a sense of humor.

I call that being insulting.

I would love see some statistics (if available, Jay) of posts that came from mobile devices vs. computers.
