A couple of blogkeeping notes:
– Some of you may have seen the new look and functionality of other AJC blogs, such as Jim Galloway’s Political Insider blog. Sometime in the next few weeks, I’m told, my blog will migrate to the new system as well. (The change is being made to accommodate new software that works better on mobile platforms such as I-Pads, Kindles, etc.)
That means you’ll have a brand new URL to bookmark (all the previous blogs and comments will still be available in archives). It also means that — prepare yourselves — commenters will be required to register in order to post at the new blog. As you can see on Jim’s blog, that doesn’t mean that you have to post under your real identity, but you will have to register an identity to post. I’ll let you know more as I learn more.
– On Monday, Feb. 25, I’ll be delivering what has become my annual “Real State of the Union” speech, followed by Q&A, at Seven Stages Theater in Little Five Points. (Information here). It’s free, and starts at 7 p.m.
However, we usually have a full house, so if you’re interested in coming, you should get tickets ahead of time. The event is sponsored by Women’s Action for New Directions, or WAND, and will also feature the witticisms of my friend Andisheh Nouraee, co-author of “Americapedia: Taking the Dumb Out of Freedom.”

Another Tea Party group is offering a $10,000 prize to the grassroots tea party supporter who can come up with the plan to “takeover the Republican party.”
Top dogs like Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck are back in the limelight too. After a long hibernation and an ousting from Fox News, self-proclaimed “mama grizzly” Palin will be a featured speaker again at CPAC this year. Meanwhile, Beck says the GOP establishment is on the verge of becoming the Whig Party. “I am sure that the Republicans will become less and less relevant as every day that goes by,” he said to Bill O”Reilly. “They’re becoming – if they’re not already – the Whig Party.”
Jay, I hope you’ll bring a blackboard and allow us to help devise a way to win the $10000.

Josef, from what I understand, that software is all they have at the moment that allows the blog to appear on multiple platforms — web browsers, I-pad, Kindle, I-phones, Android, etc.
They acknowledge its problems, and supposedly updates will come quickly. But it’s like a lot of things, I suppose. A tool that does a lot of different things doesn’t do any of them well….
