Thanks Jay,
as a kid in the early 60’s i remember my mother playing Sinatra records on a RCA stereo. that big box thing /part furniture /part stereo. It was a magic time. less harsh discipline rendered after Mom began listening to Sinatra. this was important to an 8 year old!

She released New Beginnings at a time that was appropriate in my life, and not in a good way as I wasn’t particularly in the market to begin again. As it turned out – Whew! I dodged a bullet. But it was a lesson that was a long time learning.

One last good Valentines song. A great love story, Romeo and Juliet right?

Come up on different streets they both were streets of shame
Both dirty both mean yes and the dream was just the same
And I dreamed your dream for you and now your dream is real
How can you look at me as if I was just another one of your deals?

When you can fall for chains of silver you can fall for chains of gold
You can fall for pretty strangers and the promises they hold
You promised me everything you promised me thick and thin yeah
Now you just say oh Romeo yeah you know I used to have a scene with him

Ah what the hell. One last killer love song for Valentines Day. Enjoy………

Love is all we need – you said
As you hold me in the confidence of your bed
Tomorrow’s not important – you said
Tomorrow’s turned into today instead
And I wake each morning feeling so ashamed
Having fallen to emotions that we both named
How shallow now all that rubbish seems
Hearts once full are bleeding dreams
Dreams that were reality
Have now brought out the worst in me

Love is just a paradox
He loves me, he loves me not
Love is just a paradox
He loves me, he loves me not

I don’t want a part in this
The stinging touch, the poisoned kiss
The alibis to keep us close
The lies you spit when I need you most

Love is just a paradox
He loves me, he loves me not
Love is just a paradox
He loves me, he loves me not

A basic human need is such
Being able to destroy with just one touch
Find more similar lyrics on http://mp3lyrics.com/oDMA stinking filthy trick i’d say
One day the stalker, One day the prey

Love is just a paradox
He loves me, he loves me not
Love is just a paradox
He loves me, he loves me not

Love is just a heart disease
And no cure can make this aching ease
But I’ll tranquilize myself from that
Let fit emotions turn to fact
Care and concern won’t breed here
I’ve had and seen them disappear
Tear stained eyes will not be seen
When the touch is nothing more then obscene
To fvck it seems is the only word
The ability to love seems so absurd
Absurd because we know we lie
Laughing at it all as someone cries
One day I may find it quite amusing
How touch and tongues make life so confusing
Tomorrow’s not important – it’s dead
As the sheets grow cold on your big bad bed
Love’s not important – it’s dead

Love is just a paradox…

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah………………

Maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
It’s not a cry you can hear at night
It’s not somebody who has seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah

AUDIE MURPHY MUST BE ROLLING IN HIS GRAVE !

“There was a time in our nation’s military history when a service member actually had to earn their medals. Those days are quickly fading as America transitions into the “everybody gets a medal” culture.

The latest military honor program degrades those who served before us and those who actually earned their awards and decorations.

According to the Marine Corps Times, the Defense Department has come up with a new medal known as the Distinguished Warfare Medal. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has said, “This award recognizes the reality of the kind of technological warfare we are engaged in the 21st century.” There is an issue about this award however causing uproar among many combat veterans.

The Defense Warfare Medal will soon become the fourth highest combat decoration in order of precedence pushing the Bronze Star down a notch to the fifth highest combat decoration. Recognized as the third highest award stands the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Should an award be given to those who never face the enemy in physical confrontation actually be positioned just below the Distinguished Flying Cross? Many veterans believe not.

In today’s military environment, medals are often handed out like candy. This doesn’t mean some recipients don’t deserve such awards however it does mean that many do not. Take for example the Bronze Star. It has turned into nothing more than a Valentine’s box of chocolates for the majority receiving such an honor today.

Executive Order 9419 signed on February 4th, 1944, states the Bronze Star “is awarded to a person in any branch of the military service who, while serving in any capacity with the Armed Forces of the United States on or after December 7, 1941, shall have distinguished himself by heroic or meritorious achievement or service, not involving participation in aerial flight, in connection with military operations against an armed enemy.”

Since when did heroic or meritorious achievement translate into “senior non-commissioned officers or junior commissioned officers will receive such award by merely deploying overseas so long as they stay out of trouble and keep their troops in line?”

You may think I am kidding but that is one way some persons will receive the distinguished medal today.

Sound far-fetched? Look at how the combat action badge is handed out these days.

In Afghanistan, those that actually do go outside the wire often stop their convoys even though none of them are disabled simply because they hear one or two pop shots off in the distance. The vehicles stop and hundreds, if not thousands, of rounds are expended into mountain sides from their vehicles. Convoy leaders ensure to radio in their “Troops in Contact” (TIC) simply to keep record which would later be used to help write justification for the Combat Action Badge.

If anyone has been out on patrols they know this type of thing happens. If anyone has deployed, you know the Bronze Star has been degraded due to who is actually receiving the honor. The American culture of “everyone deserves a medal” has trickled into our own military.

So how bad has the military award and decoration culture transpired? Today, the Pentagon believes drone pilots and cyber warfare specialists deserve something much more honorable than those who actually face the enemy in battle. They will be the recipients of the Distinguished Warfare Medal.

Audie Murphy must be rolling in his grave.”

Normal-Sharpie-Ergo-Sum, I’m out there.

And I’m just thinking out loud–why are the GOPers apparently forcing Harry Reid’s hand here?

Won’t even “Give ‘em Head,” Harry *have* to go nuclear if this unprecedented filibuster continues?

My paranoid side says that the GOPers are playing some kind of eleventh dimension chess here, hoping to get the Dems to end that bit of the filibuster (something they’d threatened to do in 2005)… but it makes no real sense, since that’d mean they assume they’ll have the White House in 2017, and I really don’t think they’d make such a move now for that far down the road.

But, far more likely, Occam’s razor and all that, maybe it’s just as it seems–many of these vain, horrible people are butthurt over a guy who reminds them of just how incompetent and derelict in their duties they were in the run-up to the Iraq war, and how they continued pouring in good money after bad, year in and year out.

(not that I think most Dem senators aren’t equally vain and horrible people, mind you. DiFi can take a long walk down a short pier for all I care, for starters.)

awsh-t. Needed another cuppa Joe–it’s pretty bleedin’ obvious what the GOPers are up to, if their strategery is actually aimed at getting Reid to (finally) herd his cats into a rule change that would eliminate the filibustering of Presidential nominees.

It’d give them, in their imaginings, I think, adequate cover to proceed apace with this.

And of course to claim that an ongoing program of disenfranchisement this isn’t in the least bit racist or evil or something-we’ll-have-to-lie-to-our-grandkids-about.

Those two things are unpopular with the public at large, I think it’s safe to say, but they’d perhaps be a good bit less unpopular if the GOP were able to use their usual corporate media eff-dolls to catapult the propaganda, and tell their viewers/listeners/readers that this is just political teat for tat.

Stands,
Being a simple man, I tend to look at things simply and I confess to an utter lack of understanding as to what the Grand Old party has become. This ruthless, perverted use of the filibuster…knowing that if they were ever the majority in the Senate and the Democrats tried to do the same as they are doing now, they’d change the rules quicker than you can say scat.

To my simple eyes, the fact that the GOP seems to think that the only way they can win a Presidential election is to bend the rules, warp the playing field, so much that they can’t lose, says volumes about their integrity and their message. To preach a “no big government” message, and yet do anything they can to subvert that government to their will,
is just unexplainable. I know I can’t explain it, but I do know that because they think it’s better to cheat than to honestly compete with their message…well, like I said,,,speaks volumes…

Let us not forget that this is EXACTLY what they threatened to do, and the Democrats backed down. (This was over JUDICIAL nominees, mind you, not a cabinet post; it was in 2005, and the Dems caved of course…)

If I were betting I really think that the GOPers are going to back down, but they wanted to throw an unprecedented hissy-fit over Hagel, and IF (big, huge honkin’ IF) Reid pulls the trigger and goes nuclear rather than waiting for the GOPers to calm down and allow an up or down vote, then yes, I really do think that they’ll figure it’ll provide cover for stuff they’ve got going on already, but can’t really push all that hard.

Well, Wild Thing is epochal in its own way, really, in terms of structure and its place on the rock timeline. but yeah, on a certain level it IS insipid–who among us, old enough to have heard it, hasn’t made fun of it at some point in our lives?

but I do love “Love is all around.” I did not know it was a Troggs tune when I first heard it. Rather, it was this weird tune that the Talking Heads used to cover, live, back when I used to see them at Bowery & Bleeker.

indigo, you may have misunderstood my comment. I believe climate change is occurring and that there is a manmade component. Those who are most knowledgeable to have studied it have made those conclusions repeatedly and there is a very large consensus of informed experts who agree. I’m dense because I simply don’t know and nor does anyone else at this point….it is not density that causes people to challenge this new science. It’s part to the scientific process. The louder the shout downs, the more necessary it is to commission studies of validation. I see that is now happening.

Why rush to judgment when we have some 50 years or more before the sky is really projected to fall?
