Hold out, and keep the faith

I see where the Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday night. Hundreds of artists have been nominated for the top awards in the music industry.

Lula Collins never won a Grammy. Hold out, and keep the faith.

I hope she got her reward elsewhere.

Jay, It appears as though you have been left off of the list of Christopher Dorner’s favorite liberals and there are quite a few. What gives man? I think you need to step your game up. The hypocrisy is just astounding. Gabby Giffords get shot…all we hear is that it was a tea party reacting to talk radio hosts(All of which was proven to be completely false). This guys actually admits to what personalities and causes are inspiring him to kill and we hear nothing but crickets. No bias in the media though, right?

Really, Scott?

In that same diatribe, the madman mentioned his love for the Hangover movies, and expressed deep regret about not being around to see Hangover III. Maybe THEY inspired his murderous spree, right?

Please don’t post further on this blog regarding Dorner. This is an apolitical music blog on Friday nights; if you wish to comment further, do it on the previous blog post.

Thanks.

From the Christian Science Monitor

“He has kind words for President and Mrs. Obama, but also for former president George H. W. Bush (“always one of my favorite presidents”) as well as certain journalists, athletes, and entertainers.”

Dorner must be a Bush lover also.

Common Sense isn’t very Common, IMUO you are one of the good guys and always worth reading.

As for the FNM hugfest, this is where I am at my best. (As opposed to being at my worst the other six days of the week! LOL!)

Fifty years ago next week, recording began on an album that forever changed the world. (Released March 22, 1963) This song hit the top of the UK album charts in May 1963 and remained there for seven months!

And I’m glad I was around to experience it! The memories are STILL magical.

If any a’ yuz have geetar around and feel like playing along, it’s about 3 minutes jamming on an Em, then shifts to E major – A as it gets to the “work it out” bit.

One of those songs (like, say, the Beatles’ “Paperback Writer”) that sounds a lot more complex than it is…and just goes to show if you’ve got a decent melody and a good set of pipes you can make something out of not-a-heck-of-a-lot.

February 8th, 2013

A sweeping captivating question will dominate in 2013: What happened to the United States? The answer cannot be made simple. As preface, the key to comprehension must bring focus to extreme banker thefts in the multiple $trillions, which began in a virtual theft of the bulk of the national home equity in the mortgage bond fraud. The problem is far more pervasive, if any degree of depth is to be grasped. It was the refusal to liquidate the broken sacred banks steeped in criminal activity, the extreme corrosion to the economy from adopted sanctioned urgently requested hyper monetary inflation, the burdensome war costs hidden within the mammoth unfixable federal budget deficits, the compromised Congress whose constituents are lobbyists, the cancerous growth of the state which is realized in higher taxes, onerous regulations, an expansive welfare network, and a forced tiresome war on terrorism that conceals a broad confiscation of gold hoards during a global capture of the narcotics trade [think Aghanistan], upon which the New York banks are hopelessly dependent. A military element has been prevalent in the breakdown, an extension of the Fascist Business Model into the business sector. It saw impunity of big banks from prosecution, devotion to war, permission of narcotics by the security agencies, the obfuscation of liberty as it vanished, the perversion of patriotism (including honor guards at sporting events), the subjugation of the press, the salute to an aggressive national socialism (often dubbed nazi by the enlightened). Enter systemic failure from a military standpoint.

The short answer on what went wrong would cite the departure from the Gold Standard, the advent of war beginning with Vietnam War and continuing through the Cold Soviet War and transitioning into a deceptive War on Islamic terrorism. The overly strong and active US labor unions caused a reaction to seek Asian outsources. The overly dominant financial sector led to dependence upon a series of aberrant asset bubbles, each and every one blessed by the wayward heretic US central bank, which owns a giant responsibility in the systemic failure in progress. The devotion to war has resulted in an added $3 trillion in the USGovt deficit just since 2003, and half the overall $17 trillion in total. A deadly decision was made in late 1999 that assured the demise of the nation, questioned by few, never having sat well with those in possession of an active economic brain stem. The discharge of the bulk of US factories to Asia, mostly to China, sent the legitimate income producing capability away, only to be replaced to a deeper dependence upon asset inflation. The resulting deficits for the USGovt cannot even remotely be repaid, nor even financed. Creditors have fled. The forced endless 0% rate is kept in place to enable debt service itself. Enter systemic failure from an political and fiscal standpoint.

You could read this article or you could watch “Honey-boo-boo.”

Nah! You won’t ever read this article. You’re too busy watching Honey-boo-boo!

Whenever we get some snow and ice on the roads here, there are many wrecks. Then folks from “up North” laugh and tell us how well they can drive in those condition.

But..but..but..but…but..but…but now, in the NE theres a ton of snow and pictures of car wrecks everywhere. Uhhhhhhhhhh, did all these great snow drivers just suddenly forget how to drive?

Indigo, what is received in Georgia in a snow storm is a “dusting” compared to what they are receiving now. Other than black ice, most northern drivers can handle just about anything here because it is a typical drive. Not stopping on a hill (coasting through stops), etc. They also generally have the equipment and tires to address most storms. Shoveling 14″ off the drive and going to work is commonplace. 2-3′ in a matter of hours is another story for anyone. That much snow would sell out bread and milk for a month or two in Atlanta. In Boston, it will be less than a week.

Nobody can drive on ice. They can laugh all they want, but when ice hits up north, they wreck as much as we do.

In another case of “hold out and keep the faith”( or, the little engine that couldn’t)

Atlas Shrugged: Part II opened on 1,012 screens and earned $692,000 on its premiere[13] and $1.7 million its opening weekend, debuting at #11. Despite opening on more than three times the screens of Part I, it did not significantly improve on Part I’s opening weekend.[14][15][16]

According to Box Office Mojo, box office take totaled $3,286,255 through 11/4/12, the last date for which the producers released numbers. When adjusted for inflation, the film had one of the two hundred worst wide openings of the past thirty years, followed by one of the two hundred worst second-week drops for the same period. By the third week of release it was down to under 150 screens, pulling in only $28,000 on its third Friday. Despite the bigger budget and wider release, the film performed more poorly than Part I.[17]

[...]

The movie’s sequel and the third part in the series, Atlas Shrugged: Part III, is scheduled to be released on July 4, 2014.[27]

Well, I’m just glad to be around this gorgeous day. Last Wednesday a first cousin died of a heart attack. He was setting in the living room talking to his brother and when the brother never got no answer to a question he looked and saw my cousin setting there with his eyes rolled up in his head. He was buried yesterday. He’d never been sick or even complained of any pain.

So this gives me a different outlook on all the fussing and feuding that goes on here. I think I’ll just hug the missus and little Nathan Zell George and take them out for a meal.

Have a good Saturday everybody.

I think you know that I can distill the difference between news sources and entertainment. My point is that the entertainment, such as this site, has become simply a competition for the outragious. While the so called news, is now suspect due to competition for ratings, a shoot, ready, aim, I got the story first and people really care mentality that is actually worse that ever, and the natural bias of how “news” is reported in such biased fashion to maintain a certain strain of readership/viewership. News outlets such as the NYT or the Washington Examiner present news in a biased way in order to spin toward viewership….after which, the obligatory accusation from one that the other reported news in a bias fashion.

This is of course is separate and apart from biased entertainment outlets…When the media became news, the news has become crap….one must read news from various perspectives to garner what may actually be whatever happened..

The left seems completely freaked out by both the fictional works and subsequent Rand’s attempt to take the fictional themes into the mainstream. I think part of it has to do with the concern that certain aspects of the fictional works hit close to home. The idea that some of our most talented success stories, including for example Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, were a result of breaking away from mainstream thought. “Howard Roake laughed..” the opening line of The Fountainhead, is about the only time that character showed levity. He was developing concepts so far past the accepted architecture of the time that it threatened a mainstream that defined this work which impacted his ability to secure jobs….just too controversial. Rather than keep beating his head against the sand, he went to work in a quarry mine since his commitment to his values would not allow him to maintain commissions under circumstances that others would alter his work.

IMO, it is quite simple to separate the timeless value of her fictional novels from her incoherent rants seen as an attempt to influence society, from a liberal perspective, render her novels as a source of jokes by the left.

These are the moments when it’s embarrassing to be a Christian. I’m not embarrassed to believe the extravagant claims of Christianity: that Christ was born to a virgin, died for our sins, physically rose from the grave and is returning to rule the world. But I am embarrassed to be associated with some of the people who claim his name.

And that’s why we Christians have a poor reputation. Maybe there’s some truth to those claims, but we Christians have to acknowledge another reason why we are perceived as hateful: because many of our number are.

I am convinced that, if Jesus Christ were here walking among us, he would have nothing to do with those who claim his name and consistently spew hate.

“Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness.” (1 John 2:9,11)

“If anyone says, ‘I love God,’ yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.” (1 John 4:20)

Christians aren’t the only ones hurling hateful blows on the Web. But we are the only ones who claim to follow the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. So let’s be nice.

Her novels, especially Atlas Shrugged, were about vilifying the unsuccessful.

So far, $30-40 million has been spent to produce two movies that have returned $7-8 million. Now using the tenets of her works, the second movie should never had been made given the fact that Atlas Shrugged I did so poorly at the box office. And now they have announced part III to be released this summer.

Sometimes truth hurts and the Bible is offensive especially to those who ignore its admonitions and warnings. To be true to its teachings, one must preach the “whole” Gospel …….. not just the easy parts:

Jesus to the highly respected religious rulers of His day:

John 8:44 “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire …… ”

Matthew 3:7 “But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?”

Wonder how these Senators feel that all answers to national security issues are to be vetted publicly have such a sway in that THEY can make determinations about who is right/wrong in lieu of the facts?

It appears their arguments are so weak, they have to further confuse the already confused voters about what actually happened.

Secondly, the rules of the Senate allow this outrageous behavior which allows them to stop Presidential nominations to important positions that are vital to OUR national security efforts. When a crisis evolves anywhere in the world and we do not have department heads in place, the first thing these short-sighted individuals do is blame the President for not having a handle on the situation.

Sen. Reid(D-NV) made a huge mistake when he tried to accommodate the Repubs by not requiring them to stand on the Senate floor and filibuster until they could not filibuster any more.

It is a good thing that SgtMaj Pendry has his opinion because there are plenty others that would disagree with assessments.

And one should notice that what he said about the Islamists believing that American military personnel would run away because many disagreed with the war in Iraq clearly illustrates how badly he is mistaken.

Jackie

Oh yes, one has to wonder how SgtMaj Pendry left off Ronald Reagan, who openly violated the Constitution when he made secret deals with the Iranians to hold the embassy staff and he trade American embargoed military items.

Or, how President George W. Bush used the Congress to keep the war in Iraq and off-budget item which costs this country $1 Trillion dollars each year.

If the business controls much of a particular market or is allowed to collude, then they are allowed to tax the consumer of their product.

They are people of every sex and station and they yearn to be challenged to a cause. They will always be looking for that wrong to right, that ill to cure, that song to sing; and there will always be those who will go to arms in aid of the helpless and the downtrodden. Ignoring the political issues of the moment, these people will champion the weak and the poor in the face of evil and tyranny. And no matter what the outcome, in their romantic hearts they will always keep the secret, if secret it must be, that they are better men for having held the lamp beside the golden door”.

But, that falls into the category of not knowing about Mississippi and its history.

BTW. the Neshoba County Fair is an outgrowth of the Choctaw meetings there long before the White Folks and Black folks sent some of them packing and took their land. It was the site where the nation met to listen to and choose their leadership.

And just to keep up with the PR end here, the state’s largest employer, Chahta Enterprises, is a major player there these days…you don’t do jack sh*t in the Magnolia State without consulting them, either…not something you see every day, north, south, east or west… :-)

As I feel more and more alone, my phone confidently connects with everyone. As I feel more and more lost, my phone calmly knows how to get anywhere. As I struggle to remember mundane things like the name of that movie with the boat and the guy with the lip, my phone smugly recalls literally everything. As I increasingly lose the nouns, verbs and adjectives that once stood ready to articulate my thoughts, my phone taunts me with its instant access to all the words there have ever been. There is only one possible conclusion. Slowly, without realizing it, I seem to have outsourced my mind to my phone. And to make matters worse, the damn thing knows it… and it’s starting to screw with me. Several times during the day I feel it buzz in my pocket, alerting me that some vital information has just arrived. Then, when I look, there’s nothing there. No email. No text. Nothing. Was the buzz in my mind? I don’t think so. I think it’s purposeful. I think my phone is mocking me. And it’s not just my phone. It’s all of them. They are working together, systematically robbing us of our intelligence, our humanity. And then, when we are made stupid and helpless, they will take over. It’s just a matter of time before the next generation of iPhone is equipped with an opposable thumb. Oh yeah, they’re smart alright. Evil, world domination smart.

I have to call people and tell them… Oh, great, now I have no bars! Dear God, what is happening?!

Gotta love those vanity cards!

Where, for the love of G-d, do you come up with that MS romanticized version of GWTW? Saying something positive for a change instead of falling for the same, old, tired and worn out bromides? I thought you were more sophisticated and better educated than that. And I’m not good with that. Sorry, but falling for prejudices, regardless of whom they are oriented to, is unhealthy,

Your insistence on doing that reminds me of Pogo, Kayaker, et al. who simply cannot discuss anything Black without dipping into the well of stereotypes, etc, about what’s going on in the ghettoes, the hood, or what have you. A part of the community? Of course. But its defining element? Really?

What if every time the subject of gay folks came up, I accused you of whitewashing or taking a romanticized view if you didn’t do some mea culpa for the way some of you straight folks have treated us in the past, or for that matter how some of you still do?

Seriously, Mec, get a grip. :-)

“the well of stereotypes”……. “the ghettos and the hood” scream at you but you ignore it. If just once, some one from the left would acknowledge that there is a problem, it would be a start. But you and others like you just continue to ignore the obvious. It must be just too politically correct to address. Perhaps if we ignore it, it will go away. But the number of murders in Chicago continue to rise, Bozoette even goes to Chicago for a gangland murder and even she ignores what is really going on. How can a problem be address if we even ignore the fact that it exists?

I did what when Mississippi was brought up? I simply made the point that if you know the state you know the importance of the Neshoba County Fair. I also made the point that Philadelphia is a predominantly white town with a Black mayor. There’s no tears there. Just a simple statement of reality versus popular mythology.

You WANT me to be a martyr, and I won’t do that for you or anybody else. It ain’t healthy.

And, blind as Batman, you seem to have completely missed the point that I thought the whole shebang was an insult to Mississippi, a pander to the Southern strategy, and a stupid choice of locale.
