Yep, that’s the difference. If it were Democrat cronyism, the libs here would be falling all over themselves justifying it. At least most of us in the right can look at a pile of poop and say it stinks. Even if the poop has a R behind it’s name.

You have two choices:
1. Believe those who are experts on global warming.
2. Continue to ignore the mounting evidence and just hope it goes away.

Given the fact that most of the current Republicans are former Democrats, I’d say that it’s merely evidence that the good old boy network is still in full effect under a different party banner.
They conveniently ignore this fact all the time.

Even though I don’t like what’s going on with Rogers and GPB, I guess it’s legal, right? Unethical? Yes, I’ll agree to that. I don’t guess, though, that we’ll see any of you screaming about Robert Menendez, huh? Does it have anything to do with the “D-NJ” after his name?
Given that those posters all lean right, I don’t think any of those statements can qualify as looking at a pile of poop and saying it stinks, especially considering this pile has a (R) on it. DownInAlbany comes just about the closest of all with his first sentence, but then he appears to try to downplay it or make it seem ok right before he goes into the “but Timmy did this!!” deflective defense.

shrug. Maybe it does. The “NJ” part, anyway.
To be honest I hadn’t heard much about it, but news-googling it gave me this:
http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/02/04/3216337/trail-of-sen-bob-menendez-investigation.html
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — The shadowy tipster who made explosive allegations involving U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez and underage prostitutes in the Dominican Republic named names. He gave descriptions of the women, and in some cases, phone numbers and addresses.
Despite those details, the women are nowhere to be found.
A week after the claims made headlines in the United States and on this Caribbean island, the alleged prostitutes have disappeared. An attorney who once represented two of the women said he hadn’t spoken to them in months, and then stopped returning phone calls himself. A two-bedroom apartment where some of the alleged liaisons took place is now vacant. Little remains here beyond hazy memories.
maybe that’s why you’re not hearing more? there isn’t anything new to report?

One of the current board members at Georgia Public Broadcasting just happens to be Bert Brantley. One wonders if he thus had a role in Chip Roger’s transition from the Georgia legislature to GPB. After all Brantley surely has the background and credentials to have helped make this happen. Brantley is currently Executive vice-President for Public Affairs and Issue Management at major PR firm McRae Communications:
http://eon.businesswire.com/news/eon/20110124006135/en/McRae/Bert-Brantley/public-affairs
He was not only communications director for Governor Sonny Perdue, but he also recently stage-managed the passage of the very controversial Georgia charter school amendment as the CEO of the pro-charter school non-profit “Families for Better Public Schools,” through which hundreds of thousands in out of state (and in-state) donations were funneled from powerful anti-public school education millionaires, billionaires, and the charter school corporate entities which will now benefit from this sea-change in how charter schools get approved in Georgia, Yes, one wonders whether Brantley just happened to be strategically located as a board member at Georgia Public Broadcasting right at the time these Republicans needed him to be there, i.e., right at the time they needed Rogers to be employed somewhere else besides the Georgia General Assembly.

Erwin: Consensus is not the reason to say it’s not in serious dispute. Overwhelming evidence is.
What we have are a few confirmed truths:
1) That global warming is happening
2) That the common scapegoats are not the cause (solar fluctuations, “just a natural cycle”)
3) That humans are mostly the cause.
The majority of scientists who have peer-reviewed the research now only disagree on whether our factor of influence is closer to 51%, or closer to 95% (the percentages are made up to make the point that scientists assert we are THE major cause, based on study after study, and no scientist has credibly disputed this assertion, and that we just don’t know the exact degree of our influence, but that it really matters very little what that exact number is).
Basically, as I have been over all this before, there is simply no cause to think it’s a made up conspiracy, or that humans have nothing to do with it, at this point.
I am sure it won’t make a difference to you but if you like I will spam a summary of what we know that backs this up. And you and others will deny it, of course, just like you do every time. So I don’t really see the point unless someone is seriously wondering what the actual data is, as opposed to someone who is pretending to want the data so they can come up with confirmation bias arguments against it.

So the West Georgia College Anthropology Department is teaching students to hate white people and one of the first academic successes is the grad who murders one young white woman, paralyzes another, and nicks a third. Wonder if he had a Pell Grant. Wonder if he has repaid his student loans. No matter what Obama gaffe slips through the media blockade of silence, one of Jay’s helpers dredges up one from *Dubya* or makes one up. That shot heard ’round the world did not take down a clay pigeon. Dean was a democrat before he changed his suit. Never got my vote. Since those *non-profits* like GPB feed at the government trough one way or the other even if just through tax exemptions I suppose it is ok if just one *con* gets his *fair share,* And that should just about cover the range of items under discussion today.

No law, written or otherwise, Stevie Ray, requires an elected official to face the music. If the politician in question decides that looking like a fool hiding in plain sight is less damaging footage than actually answering a question on camera, he or she is welcome to take that course. The public is free to judge for themselves in such cases.
Likewise, no law forbids the media from showing an official refusing to face the music.
Yes, I’ve seen cases in which the “chase video” was probably overdone and inappropriate. I don’t believe this was one of those.

Really, if anyone doubts that climate change IS HAPPENING. or that Humans ARE A SIGNIFICANT FACTOR. Then I”m not interested in dealing with them.
They’re wrong, Ignorant, and willingly ignorant because the evidence is there. Humans are a significant source of climate change. Say it with me now.
The argument should be “What do we do about it?”
a) nothin’. keep polluting and poisoning the only world we have.
b) Something piecemeal. Because doing anything big is hard. (recycle, change to energy saving applicances)
c) Something a little harder. Because it’s worth doing to help the planet. Cut auto emissions, cut business emissions, cut energy emissions, enable and support clean energy of all kinds.
d) Something significant. Punish those that do not clean up their act. Pay significantly more for clean energy now, shut down anything that pollutes over a certain threshold.
e) Going overboard. Halt/reverse economy by placing prohibitive restrictions on everything to clean the air.
Anyone want to weigh in on actions above, or actions that I did not mention?

I know it’s sad, but I even thought of something similar to that. I was thinking that, with his money, he should be able to buy a cheap MetroPCS or something to use. I tell you what, when men think with the lower brain, the IQ drops to freezing temperature numbers.

I consider myself a contrarian…some would say devil’s advocate. I enjoy trying to get spirited debates going (here and on, gasp!, the AJC conservative blog). I enjoy pointing out the hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle. I’ve said on here many times that I pretty much think they (D and R) are all looking at the next election cycle rather than what’ in OUR best interest. I usually just end up with a cyber-blackeye!

If you cons would stop chewing tobacco and drinking mountain dew
you might be able to focus on the topic “If you can’t defend the indefensible,
run and hide”.
Oh…..I see…you can’t defend the indefensible.
So you deflect by talking about everything else.
Do you cons suffer from ADD (ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER)?
I THINK YOU DO.
No wonder you cons lost to OBAMA.
If you ever want to win the White House you better STAY FOCUSED.

There’s nothing wrong with playing devil’s advocate though. That actually shows that you’re capable of thinking from more than one side of your brain. Hell, that probably puts you in the top 25% of thinkers in this country right about now.

One of the things I worry about with alternative cable networks and owner designed internet news is the local corruption goes unanswered. These guys go and hide from this reporter and she doesn’t come back, he now has a green light to do it again. I mean it was pretty corrupt when you had the Ray Moores reporting hard and furious, but now the resources are dissipating and these crooks kind of control what they want you to hear.
This is why I was so happy Obama came through the negative ad attack of the rich right in the last campaign. I think the corrupt politicians can control places like Georgia where obviously more people are like them than not, but nationwide seem to see through these petty crooks and not allow for this cheap stuff to go on. We desperately need a two party system in this state.

The government should always act in the best interest of its citizens. Unfortunately, our government tends to act in the best interest of whomever writes the largest campaign checks.

I’m sorry, but Obama shooting skeet in that photo is pretty funny. His form and command of the weapon is comical – my sister at 105lbs has more control authority. But alas, he is from Chicago (well, and Hawaii, Indonesia, Connecticut, NY etc) so it is like watching a Nebraskan surf.
Lets think of this – we reentered recession, UE is rising, debt rising, inflation up another .25% – and the POTUS is in Minnesota campaigning for some gun law that won’t pass either chamber. Forward!

After our votes are counted, our interests are so subordinated its a joke. All we get is knee jerk, shallow crap sold in soundbites…
Get the private money out of DC…until that happens, I expect nothing but continued dysfunctional outcomes…whether spending 40% more than we take in or trying to make our kids safer by limiting clips to 10 per round..silly stuff really. Remember when Bush suggested an immigration plan that required all illegals to self deport, and return with 5K?
Re clips, seems to me limiting clips to 10 rounds will only result in shooters using guns in each hand….just kidding…kinda.

I am with Jay, both sides are human, with human weakness.
I don’t want one party from either side, and I certainly dislike out of state influenced from Washington or lobbyist with special interest.
Some days I wake up surprised we are still here, it is a true wonder how this state government and its people survive the stupidity but it does. And that in its self is encouraging. Nobody is stopping me from my way of life, corrupt as they are they seem to contain it to their side of the street, amazing, and hope it always stays that way.
The real center of corruption and greed that breaths on this nation is Wall Street. The finest minds in this country think they are entitled to no risk and all reward because they are our finest minds. The state is too dumb to worry about and Wall Street too smart to control. The later will get us first.

Run and hide or appear on 60 Minutes and get softball, my how you do get along so well, comments like obama and hillary. They have much to answer for, but the leftwing political arm of the Democratic Party in the media, of which bookman is a part, will not ask any serious questions or demand answers for things they have done to cause so much damage to this country.

DIA, there are several reasons for that. One is that the entire governing apparatus in the state of Georgia is Republican, so anything critical that I write on state topics can be viewed as anti-Republican even though I was probably equally hard on Georgia Democrats when they held all the power.
If you doubt that, you can go look it up if you wish. We were particularly hard on the D’s on issues such as ethics and transportation (strongly opposing the Outer Perimeter, for example, and pushing investment in transit instead). Speaker Murphy wouldn’t even speak to me.
On the national level, I happen to disagree very strongly with the modern Republican Party on just about everything that it does. Those are honest policy disagreements as well as disagreement about its basic no-compromise governing style, which I find dangerous. I make no apologies for any of that, and I express those differences in policy terms.
However, I don’t believe I have ever said or implied that Republicans are somehow inherently more corrupt than Democrats, because I do not believe that is true and never have.

1st Rule of Politics: Running from a TV news camera crew NEVER has a good outcome. I don’t care what it is that you’re being accused of, stopping and talking beats running away and looking like a fool any day of the week. “Yes Ms. Geary, that was me coming out of that hotel with 4 hookers. Next Question.” See, that’s so much better than running and hiding behind a copy machine.
2nd Rule of Politics: When the ship is sinking, NEVER jump on board. Heath is Chip Rogers’ little bitch. But Chips is toast. His career is OVER. So Bill, jumping on a sinking ship only means one thing. Enjoy your last term in the State Senate.
