“rock and roll” is already dead Jay. We now have the useless noise of hip-hop and an endless string of whining and electronically modulated “beautiful” people (of indeterminate sex) who have no talent BUT, they look good. Joe Walsh ain’t much to look at but he is a very talented man. If he were just starting out and he was trying to make it now in the music he would fail. So would Neil Young for that matter and many, many others who ain’t exactly blessed in the looks department. Talent doesn’t matter anymore in music. Now that I think about it, it is like politics in this country. It isn’t what you know or how good a leader you will be but it is all about how you look and WHAT you are, just like Obama.

The first song ever played on 96 Rock WKLS in 1974.
The second time that I saw the Who, Townshend said this song now belonged to the fans. And with the first few unmistakable, iconic notes, the crowd erupted in screams and yells of delight.

“We must stop being the stupid party.” “We must stop looking backward.” “We must stop insulting the intelligence of voters.”
Gov. Bobby Jindal held little back with his sharp words to Republicans Thursday evening, urging his own party to rethink their arguments against Democrats and appeals to voters in his remarks to party members attending the Republican National Committee’s Winter Meeting.
“We must compete for every single vote: the 47 percent and the 53 percent and any other combination of numbers that adds up to 100 percent,” he said, notably invoking comments 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney made at a closed door fundraiser about a bloc of voters who would not consider GOP candidates.
He also spoke out against those and other “completely unhelpful” comments from Romney in a November interview with CNN.
Good luck, Bobby.
But given that they are utterly unwilling to change and learn from their mistakes, I’d say that you have a truly impossible task on your hands.

A new report from Data Driven Detroit reveals that in spite of the many families with kids that left Detroit between 2000 and 2010 — much of the city’s population still consists of children living in poverty.
Sixty percent of children in Detroit live in poverty, per the “State of Detroit” report. This represents a 64.7 percent increase in child poverty in the city since 1999. Children account for 194,347 of Detroit’s residents, or 27 percent of the city’s total population.

I understand that conservatives are starved for victories, which makes this court ruling important to them. If you can’t win on ObamaCare, or on the election, or on taxes, at least win on something. I get that.
And as I noted earlier, I think the court was probably right in its ruling. I understand why Obama tried this — the Senate has gotten ridiculous in refusing to do its constitutional duty to at least vote on nominations. If the Senate rejects them, fine. But at least vote.
I mean, they can’t even get a vote on an ATF director for six years? Six years? Seriously?
In that kind of environment, Obama tried another way to make the federal government function. It doesn’t look as if it’s going to work. It happens.

From the (probably superficial) coverage I heard on NPR, on Friday, it is a distinct possibility it would go the Administration’s way. The SCOTUS does tend to think long term, and they certainly will be thinking of future Republican Presidents wanting to be able to exercise similar power.

. I understand why Obama tried this — the Senate has gotten ridiculous in refusing to do its constitutional duty to at least vote on nominations. If the Senate rejects them, fine. But at least vote.
And this is why things like the trillion dollar coin wind up being seriously considered. Yes, the trillion dollar coin would’ve been ridiculous. But Congress’ irresponsibility driving that consideration is ridiculous cubed.
Beyond that, of course, there’s the question of why the Senate Dems are making like the apocryphal Will Rogers liberal, too broad minded to take their own side in a fight. Only they’re not actually broad minded, they’re vain, petty, horrible men, and that’s why they can’t even force a spoken filibuster.

“I understand that conservatives are starved for victories, which makes this court ruling important to them. If you can’t win on ObamaCare, or on the election, or on taxes, at least win on something. I get that.”
But yet the Republicans picked up one more governorship and now have 30 states.
The Republicans now control 24 states totally as compared to the Dems control 13. The Republicans went from a 56 seat deficit in the House of Reps in 2009 to now a 33 seat advantage now and according to Nate Silver they will hold the house until at least the next Census.
“And as I noted earlier, I think the court was probably right in its ruling. I understand why Obama tried this — the Senate has gotten ridiculous in refusing to do its constitutional duty to at least vote on nominations. If the Senate rejects them, fine. But at least vote.”
Could this be because the President thinks he is above REAL compromise. You know the type of Compromise that Reagan, GHWB and Clinton had to do to get anything accomplished when the opposing party controlled the HOR’s?
“I mean, they can’t even get a vote on an ATF director for six years? Six years? Seriously?”
If I am not mistaken at least 2 of those years was when a Republican held the WH and the Dems controlled the Senate. Could it have been the Dems that blocked the ATF?
“In that kind of environment, Obama tried another way to make the federal government function. It doesn’t look as if it’s going to work. It happens”
Well maybe now Obama will actually have to give in and place moderates that the Senate can stand in order to fill those positions. It seems like the Republican Senate is not going to oppose Kerry for SOS. I am sure they would be more then happy to support the nomination of any Democratic Senator from a state controlled by a Republican Governor:-)

NEW YORK — Fox News Channel is parting ways with former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, ending her three-year tenure as a contributor on the network.
While Palin’s time at Fox was occasionally rocky, the network’s news executive, Bill Shine, said Friday that “we have thoroughly enjoyed our association” with her.
But there were some indications of tension between her and Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes, who was quoted in a 2011 story by The Associated Press saying, “I hired Sarah Palin because she was hot and got ratings.”

Well, as your friend on this blog JHM said yesterday the circumstantial evidence surely favors the position of her giving up her citizenship to avoid paying the US federal tax rates. Income tax
Either a progressive or proportional income tax is levied by the Confederation and by the cantons on the income of natural persons. The income tax is imposed as a payroll tax on foreign workers without a residence permit,[12] and in the form of a withholding tax on certain transient persons, such as foreign musicians performing in Switzerland.
Taxable income includes all funds accruing to a person from all sources, in principle without deduction of losses or expenses,[13] and including the rental value of a house lived in by its owner.[14] However, capital gains on private property (such as profits from the sale of shares) are tax-free, except where the cantons levy a tax on real estate capital gains.[15] Certain expenses are also deductible. These include social security or pension fund payments,[16] expenses related to the gain of income (such as employment expenses and maintenance costs of real estate) and alimonies.[17] Gifts and inheritances are also exempt from the income tax, but are subject to separate cantonal taxes.[13]
Non-working foreigners resident in Switzerland may choose to pay a “lump-sum tax” instead of the normal income tax. The tax, which is generally much lower than the normal income tax, is nominally levied on the taxpayer’s living expenses, but in practice (which varies from canton to canton), it is common to use the quintuple of the rent paid by the taxpayer as a basis for the lump-sum taxation.[18] This option contributes to Switzerland’s status as a tax haven, and has induced many wealthy foreigners to live in Switzerland.
In 2011, the federal income tax varied from a bracket of 1% (for single tax payers) and 0.77% (for married taxpayers) to the maximum rate of 11.5%. Individuals earning below 13,600 and couples earning below 27,000 Swiss francs were exempt. On cantonal level, tax rates varies heavily, Obwalden adapted a 1.8% flat tax on all personal income following a cantonal referendum in 2007. In most cantons, the rate is proportional with a maximum rate of 6.5% in Bern, whereas in Zurich it was 13% and in Geneva 17.58-.76 % (depending upon taxes as single or jointly).[19][20]

An Internal Revenue Service agent testified Friday that Kilpatrick should owe $200,000 in back taxes tied to unreported income.

And the thousands upon thousands of athletes and owners and entertainers and producers and agents who “choose” to make as much money as they possibly can – millions upon millions of dollars – with little concern for how that may financially affect the people to whom they owe their living (the “fans”)? What are they choosing money over? Is it not, in a sense, country? Liberals like to harp on the “greed” of corporations (and greed IS a very serious sin, in my view), but they hypocritically say nothing about the greed of liberal entertainers or corrupt politicians they like. Although Turner is estimated to be worth about $200 million and says she wasn’t motivated by taxes, keeping her US citizenship would have forced her to continue paying the IRS, even if she never returns to the US.
For 150 years, Switzerland has also offered tax breaks for foreign millionaires to boost tourism, making them exempt from an income tax and allowing them to pay a flat fee. More than 5,000 foreigners have been using the tax breaks, but opponents of the deal have been gathering signatures to scrap the breaks, putting it up for a popular vote to take place within the next two years.
Four of Switzerland’s 26 cantons – including Zurich – have already scrapped the tax breaks for wealthy foreigners.
During most of her 20 years in Switzerland, Turner benefited from the tax breaks. Although she will now be paying Swiss taxes as a citizen, which are high, she will no longer have to pay American taxes in addition.
“There’s little to suggest taxes motivate the decision, and Swiss rates are high. Yet filing tax returns in multiple nations and claiming foreign tax credits is an imperfect process that often results in tax mismatches,” writes Forbes contributor Robert W. Wood.
Even though the multimillionaire doesn’t have to worry about her finances, giving up her US citizenship will at least reduce the paperwork – and save her a million or two.
Wow, 20 seconds on the “google” proves that the right wing conned love to advance some really ignorant theories to support their diatribes rather than deal with reality. Perhaps they need to educate themselves in the real world..

Maybe because she LIKES it there. She has lived there now over 20 years. You making a wild assed claim is NOT with nothing to support it “circumstantial evidence.”
Wow, you show more and more how little intelligence and reasoniong skills you have. I hope everyone knows the meaning of words like insidious and treacherous. Because that is what, in my opinion, the secret actions of certain Democrats (and probably Republicans too) is like – having a hidden agenda and trying to foist it upon an otherwise innocent and unsuspecting public. Stuff like this makes me very indignant:
http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-TV/2013/01/20/NY-Assemblyman-exposes-gun-confiscation-agenda-of-Democrats
Radical attempts at or desires for gun control represents the Democrat’s Waterloo and they don’t even know it. They really don’t know (as yet, without some serious thought and study) what possible solutions there might be to mass killings but they dust off 20 year gun laws and try to pass them again – though there is no clear evidence that gun control laws do anything definitive to reduce gun violence and though the vast majority (80%) of gun related homicides involve handguns and frequently occur where there already are some of the strictest gun laws in the land. It does appear they are really interested in solving the problem of gun violence in America, else they would be doing something about what is happening in Chicago and cities like that. In short, their actions do NOT match their words. And so, one is prone to suspect evil motivations when that happens. Perhaps they ought to consider who their “father” is:
“You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” – John 8:44

The intelligence of the CIA, England, France, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Russia all said there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Clinton, Kerry and others saw the exact same information as Bush and they agreed and voted to go to war.
2: Obama had military operations on the ground (special forces and the CIA) and in the air in Lybia without the Congresses approval. This is an unauthorized war unlike the Bush war that was authorized by Congress.

Even the hard-left John Kerry admits that our failure to address and correct our fiscal irresponsibility will make his job as secretary of state far less than effective. Yes the republicans are languishing in the fact that they now have 30 governors (the most ever held by the party), they are languishing in the fact that they have total control over 24 state legislatures (most in the history of the party) while the Dems only control 13, they are now languishing over the fact that they have partial control over 6 legislatures. They are languishing in the fact that they went from minus 58 in the House of Representatives and now are plus 33 and they know they will hold the majority until at least 2022.

Well so much for the self-proclaimed historical “genius” of td.
The number of electoral votes each state receives is equal to the number of Senators plus the number of House Representatives. The number of senators is fixed at two but the number of Representatives for each state varies with the population of the state but is always at least one. Do you see the pattern? Let me help you a little the states with the least amount of population individual citizens vote counts for a larger % of one electoral vote then the average citizen in the largest state.
Like I said individual citizens do not vote for the President and the smaller the state the more powerful that states votes are.

As there is no law for electors to cast their votes based on the popular vote, nobody’s vote counts any more than anybody else. Georgia’s electors could have cast their votes for Obama or Johnson instead of Romney, and there is no law that could have forced them to do otherwise. Arguments, such as your numbers argument, is just like trying to debate who polluted the pool more, the person who pissed an ounce or the person who pissed a gallon.

You are making the same argument that the big states did prior to the electoral college compromise. The smaller states said heck no and as a result we have the electoral college to protect the more rural, less populace states. Now it appears we have some states that want to protect the more rural population areas of the state from the populace centers control.
As I have proven in the debate over the electoral college the Presidential elections are not based on the principle of one man one vote so I see no problem with the states allocating as they want too in the same manner that Maine and NE already do today.

The stupidity of Socialisim is that if it does not pay for a man to produce more he will STOP producing more. Why do extra work to make extra money if you cant keep any of it?. This rule applies to both the rich and regular working people. The End result is that suddenly the country can no longer support itself—But the Leaders STILL want to stay in power, so they FORCE the people to work more for less–And eventually forbid them to leave—-Opression and slavery then begins—As an natural progression and end result of Socialisim. Socialisim only benifits Tyrants and freeloaders.

So you guys are arguing that a rural vote ought to count more than an urban vote? That 20,000 rural voters ought to be able to trump 30,000 urban voters?
This is what happens today in states with the electoral college. The smaller the states population then the more the individuals vote counts more then an individuals vote in a more populace state.
In WY they receive one electoral vote per every 192,137 people
In Montana they receive one electoral vote per every 335,047 people
In GA they receive one electoral vote per every 619,996 people
In NY they receive one electoral vote per every 674,836 people
In Ca they receive one electoral vote per every 691,662 people
This is the reason a President can win the popular vote in the country and still lose the election.

I thought rock died in the ’70’s with the advent of disco. Then I thought it came back with grunge and died again after Cobain’s death. Both times I was wrong. There’s a ton of excellent acts out there and good songwriting. Legacy bands are still going strong. Serious playing (for a while thought self-indulgent by folks who thought the song was the only thing that counts) is coming back with a vengeance among the younger generation. I can enjoy listening to new bands for the instrumentalists again. About time.

Yes, td, it can happen under the current electoral system, as it did in 2000.
The intent of this new plan is to try to encourage it to happen, and on a larger scale. When I ran the numbers earlier, they show that Romney might have won in 2012 despite losing the popular vote 51-47, which is a pretty large margin.
If you think the country is divided today with a lack of trust in the system, consciously creating that kind of system will make it much much worse.

If you think the country is divided today with a lack of trust in the system, consciously creating that kind of system will make it much much worse.
51-47 in rare numbers is 6 million more votes nationwide out of a country of 350 million. Another way of saying this is that the difference is the number of votes received by the President received in Boston, Phil and NY and this is exactly the reason the founders placed the electoral college in the Constitution to stop the large urban centers from controlling who is elected President.
There was never any intent of the President winning elections on a popular vote. Our system was originally set up for the House of Representatives to represent the people, The Senate to represent the interest of the state and the President was to represent our country around the world and to make sure the will of the Congress was implemented. The Judicial branch was set up to make sure the states played fair with each other and to make sure the individual rights of the people were not infringed.
As far as divided nation, it is up to you (the media) for one to tell the people the truth as to what the original intent of our form of government is and stopped this myth about everyones vote counts exactly the same and that we directly elect our President.

Since we have established that electors vote for the President and not the people, then what is the big deal the progressives are making about states changing the way their electors are vote in the college?
The big deal that “I” see (can’t answer for your progressives) is that the Republicans see they can’t win based on peddling the message or “ideals” that they claim that Americans share with them. They have been body checked into the glass twice by a Socialist, Marxist, Kenyan, anti-Colonial, Kenyesian, Leftist, “super Liberal” President in two straight elections.
If this were something that the GOP thought was something that would benefit America and not the GOP, they would be pushing for this plan in the 24-30 states they control legislatures and/or governorships. The fact that they are targeting specific battle states where they’ve had their butts handed to them shows that this idea is nothing more than a blatant attempt to change the rules of the game to benefit them on a national level.

Hospitals would need to check the immigration status of uninsured patients under a new bill introduced by an Arizona lawmaker. Rep. Steve Smith’s (R) H.B. 2293 would require hospital staff to “reasonably confirm” patients’ status during check-in or treatment, and immediately report those who do not have the required papers to immigration officials.
Smith claimed it is a hospital’s civic duty to check immigration status:
“I would hope if you witnessed somebody who is not lawfully present in this country taking advantage of, getting, acquiring any benefit or social service or something that they’re not entitled to, or something they’re abusing or neglected, I would hope somebody would pick up the phone and go, ‘Maricopa police, Buckeye police, I think — I’m not sure — but I think this is happening”’

It appears the so-called conservatives at getting ready to follow-up on their threat of “holding the economy hostage.”
The so-called conservatives have stated the sequestration will happen; if the Senate does not vote on a budget, they will introduce a bill that says they will withhold pay for the Congress, in violation of the 27th Amendment of the Constitution.
They still contend that our government spending is too high, regardless of the fact that reducing government spending denies money (demand) needed to keep the economy growing.
Aren’t you glad you voted for these people who swear they have your best interest at heart?

Now, the GOP is touting a new rule requiring every bill to cite its specific constitutional authority. If a bill doesn’t cite the Constitution, the House clerk will reject it from being introduced at all, a new memo from Republican leadership explains.

If you believe the Tea Party is not about destroying the government, why would they continue to vote against the debt ceiling when it is an action created by voting for spending and now do not want to pay for the spending they creating in a legislative action.
The USA is the largest single economy in the world and if our economy is wrecked, or, the world perceives problems with our economy, the rest of the economies of the world will be wrecked. Does that not sound like anarchy?

Social Security and Medicaid need to be revised somehow or they will fall of the own weight in debt. Why do you not know that? Social Security could probably get by with some tweaks. I have never been to a Tea Party meeting but have followed the pronouncements of one of their most vocal advocates, former Rep. West (R-FL). – Are you saying, the words of 1 person speak for millions (most of which NEVER voted for him)?
From what I have learned from him relative to his speeches and actions, it speaks volumes about their direction. – So a tea party group in Montana, that didn’t elect or vote for him, is saddled with the words of some one they may disagree with? You do realize there are several tea party groups, right?
If you believe the Tea Party is not about destroying the government, why would they continue to vote against the debt ceiling when it is an action created by voting for spending and now do not want to pay for the spending they creating in a legislative action. – One does not equal the other. There is a possibility that the debt ceiling mess is one that BOTH sides are using for political gain. After all, the debt ceiling has ALWAYS been raised when needed. In the meantime BOTH sides use emotionally charged rhetoric to bash the other side.
The USA is the largest single economy in the world and if our economy is wrecked, or, the world perceives problems with our economy, the rest of the economies of the world will be wrecked. Does that not sound like anarchy? – No, is sounds like emotionally charged talking points. There was and is NO chance of that happening.
The question one would have to ask is, what does the Tea Party hope to accomplish by wrecking the economy? – See my answer above.

You have not done your homework.
It appears you have majored in English and do not have a clue as to how either one of those programs work.
Social Security has an easy fix that would not hurt the low to middle class worker; raise the limit on Social Security taxes from $109,000 to $218,000. This means those that make more than $109,000 up to $218,000 will continue to pay 7% for taxes, after that nothing.
The actuarial community indicates this will give the trust fund enough money to last for more than 100 years. And, you should be aware, the USA borrows 40% of its debt from the trust fund, so, insuring its solvency helps us out until we can get out this deficit position.
Second, Medicare is needed because our cost of health care currently consumes 20% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). If we remained on the current path, all our taxes would go to the military and health care.
Medicare gives us the ability to manage our health care costs – to an extent – by providing a single pay system and keeping control of drug costs.

There are multiple groups that fall under the Tea Party umbrella.
I have not heard any that have not advocated extreme positions, have you?

Honestly, I can’t say. I don’t give them that much weight. The ACTUAL tea party members that I know differ and have problems with the self appointed “spokespeople” that the media seeks and seek the media. The people *I* know admit there is a need for increased revenue. They support tax reform. They are not the person that *always* seem to find their way in front of a camera.
Oh, they are also in their 30s and 40s, different professions (LEO’s, teachers, service members, etc) and of different races.

It happened around 2:15 a.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of South Mozart Street in Lawndale. Ronnie Chambers, 34, was shot in the head and died at the scene, according to police and the medical examiner’s office.
Chambers, a convicted felon and reputed Gangster Disciple gang member, was the fourth sibling in his family to die a violent death, according to the police. His other siblings also died from gunshot wounds, a police source said.
Chambers had 29 arrests and four convictions, including multiple felonies for drug dealing and weapons violations, according to another source.”

We hosted three little girls for a play date this afternoon, so I let my wife handle the supervision and I went to watch 0 Dark 30. The Republicans prior to the election were concerned the movie would be a plug for Obama but actually the opposite was true. Obama and his administration as depicted in the movie were bit players if even that. The heroine was a female CIA analyst who tirelessly worked to connect the dots that pinpointed UBL’s location in Pakistan. Enhanced interrogations were largely responsible for collecting much of the intelligence that identified the courier. Lots of drama as you would expect from a movie but the producers stick by their story that it was CIA sources who provided the inside information that was the basis for this movie. The movie does nothing to dispel my prior conclusion that Obama was convinced that if he did not green light the operation his political career stood a good chance of being crushed should it have come out that he failed to act. Given the outcome he would have been crushed had he failed to acted. It’s obvious why the left doesn’t wish to speak much about this movie.

Jackie, my response is a poor one..empirically and with personal experience one can get medicare to pay for virtually any test, necessary or not, private insurance companies have many checks and balances..You want a Head CT payed for by BCBS, the “provider”" better be ready to clear the test with a retired orthopedist…Don’t laugh-it’s happened. Medicare, on the other hand rarely questions tests. As for the VA, patients complain all the time about the waits and since the VA communicates with the outside MD’s so poorly, many tests are repeated.. I do NOT have any “hard” data and would not believe the data if it were available on googol”read “the noise and the signal”..I know this is a week argument, but I do believe it has merit..

Folks VA healthcare is not, say again is not the gold standard or even close in healthcare. The good news for those who care Bethesda and Walter Reed (Walter Reed has been recently closed) are/were the gold standard in caring for vet’s wounded in combat, while on active duty. Active duty care has always been great and continues to be. The VA not so much.

It truly appears that you are working with data that is not valid which makes your arguments suspect.
You can check any medical organization in the USA and I think you will get the same answers about the VA medical system.
Yes, it is overloaded because we have so many wounded soldiers returning from Iraq/Afghanistan. Many wounded today would not have lived during previous times because our medical advances have been so profound.
Be that as it may, the VA still gets their patients in and out as quickly as they can, given the budget constraints that have been placed on them.

Medicare is one of the largest health care systems in the USA.
If we compare the relative efficiency of the Medicare system, what parameters do we use to make that comparison to other system in the USA?
Is a valid comparison to the number of patients valid?; is the comparison to be made to the cost of medical care provided by the members of each medical care organization valid?; are the results of the procedures the most important parameter?
Pick any parameter that you choose to use so that a valid comparison of Medicare’s efficiency to any other health care company can be made. Using those input parameters, we can determine which ones spends less per patient for the care received.

And, that you thought the 1st Cav was “kind of sorry.” If that is correct, does not speak well of you and what the military historians say as the unit was put together to employe the air mobility concept ;used by the Marines. And, whenever there was troops that were needed to be placed into battle quickly during Viet Nam, Gen. Westmoreland called on the 1st Cav and the 101st Airborne along with Marine attachments, whom the Cav transported Check with Recon and see if he was not attached to the Cav when he was in I Corps.

Best explanation of modern progressive thought process that I think I have ever seen.
If you are taught bitterness and anger, then you will believe you are a victim. You will feel aggrieved and the twin brother of aggrievment is entitlement. So now you think you are owed something and you don’t have to work for it and now you’re on a really bad road to nowhere because there are people who will play to that sense of victimhood, aggreivement and entitlement, and you still won’t have a job.” ~ Condaleeza Rice

The military has improved its military medical experience tremendously because of the Viet Nam experience.
Many wounded warriors today are wounded instead of KIA because the military has learned to treat them within that magic hour.
Civilian medicine has been improved because of the advances made with the trauma of war, especially that of ER patients.
The military medical system has it own set of problems, just like the civilian medical system has problems of its own. On a comparative basis, the VA system is more adept at treating the common injury than those of private hospitals because the military requires them to follow combat related procedures. Civilian hospitals are better at specialties than military hospitals.
The good thing about our current system is the civilian and military medical treatment systems work together to come up with more comprehensive and effective treatment.

It is strange that you can’t follow my reasoning when you said that the VA system was not too good and the Medicare system had its own sets of problems. You went on to say that if you had a specific type of disease you would go to a hospital in Chantilly, VA.
I then came back and said that if one wanted to make a valid comparison, what criteria would be used for that criteria. Were my definitions ambiguous or were the criteria one that did not fit your reasoning?

The health care system in the USA is world-class; however, the dollars we spend for our health care far exceeds that of the other 7 largest industrial countries of the world.
It appears to me, if we had a single payor system – putting all insured into a single pool – our costs would be lower and if we opened up more seats in our medical schools at a lesser price, it would help the situation tremendously.
Many doctors come out of school with student aid bills exceeding $500,000. They can’t survive because we can’t afford to pay them.

Jackie,
Yes, I believe gop governors not participating will cause ObamaCare to fail and there is only one option left.
Single payer. We will join the rest of the civilized countries.

If the GOP governors fail to implement the Exchange as part of “Obamacare,” the citizens of those states, including those who voted for those governors, will revolt.
Health care cost currently consume 20% of GDP and is the fastest growing component of the economy, therefore, much will be required of state and local governments to provide health care services for an aging population.

Jackie,
I think the gop governors stopped saying they will not implement the exchange after the governor of Arizona said she would implement it. I think about half of the gop governors said they will not implement it.

Watch what they do and not what they say.
Even if the states do not implement the Exchange, the law says the Federal government can implement the Exchange.
The Exchange was to be funded by the Federal government and the states have said they will turn it down.
Watch Texas and Florida.

Thanks Jackie.
I thought the State had to match some money for the exchange.
