We now have the useless noise of hip-hop and an endless string of whining and electronically modulated “beautiful” people (of indeterminate sex) who have no talent BUT, they look good. Joe Walsh ain’t much to look at but he is a very talented man. If he were just starting out and he was trying to make it now in the music he would fail. So would Neil Young for that matter and many, many others who ain’t exactly blessed in the looks department. Talent doesn’t matter anymore in music. Now that I think about it, it is like politics in this country. It isn’t what you know or how good a leader you will be but it is all about how you look and WHAT you are, just like Obama.

2nd Atl Pop Festival, 1970 i believe. Lineup included the Who, Havens, Grand Funk, Hendrix (who played Star Spangled Spaghetti on July 4th, with fireworks and a light rain falling), Allman Bros, et al. Camped under some huge Pecan trees with my new wife. Didn’t need any drugs, I was crazy in love.

. I understand why Obama tried this — the Senate has gotten ridiculous in refusing to do its constitutional duty to at least vote on nominations. If the Senate rejects them, fine. But at least vote.

And this is why things like the trillion dollar coin wind up being seriously considered. Yes, the trillion dollar coin would’ve been ridiculous. But Congress’ irresponsibility driving that consideration is ridiculous cubed.

Beyond that, of course, there’s the question of why the Senate Dems are making like the apocryphal Will Rogers liberal, too broad minded to take their own side in a fight. Only they’re not actually broad minded, they’re vain, petty, horrible men, and that’s why they can’t even force a spoken filibuster.

But yet the Republicans picked up one more governorship and now have 30 states.
The Republicans now control 24 states totally as compared to the Dems control 13. The Republicans went from a 56 seat deficit in the House of Reps in 2009 to now a 33 seat advantage now and according to Nate Silver they will hold the house until at least the next Census.

Well, as your friend on this blog JHM said yesterday the circumstantial evidence surely favors the position of her giving up her citizenship to avoid paying the US federal tax rates. Now she pays a much lower rate in Swit. then she would have if she would have remained a citizen and had to continue to pay the US rates.

It is very complicated but from what I have read the max rate is 13 to 17% as compared to 39% in the US.

Although Turner is estimated to be worth about $200 million and says she wasn’t motivated by taxes, keeping her US citizenship would have forced her to continue paying the IRS, even if she never returns to the US.

Even though the multimillionaire doesn’t have to worry about her finances, giving up her US citizenship will at least reduce the paperwork – and save her a million or two.

Wow, 20 seconds on the “google” proves that the right wing conned love to advance some really ignorant theories to support their diatribes rather than deal with reality. Perhaps they need to educate themselves in the real world..

td, you fail on comprehension. Turner has lived in Switzerland for 20 years and is just now getting her citizen that she previously applied for. Taxes were NOT her motivation. However once she has her new citizenship she may be able to save on taxes by giving up the benefits of US citizen. That however was NOT your claim. You claimed, rather buffoonishly, that it was HER motivation. You lose

She has called Switzerland her home for the past 20 years. I am willing to bet that she has spent more time in this country in the last 20 years in her other homes then she has spent in the home in Switzerland. You make it sound like she has lived there and been nowhere else for the past 20 years. If you do not think the tax consequences did not play a significant role into her decision then I have some ocean front property in Gilmer county to sell you.

1: And your proof that Bush lied is? You have none and it is total BS. The intelligence of the CIA, England, France, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Russia all said there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Clinton, Kerry and others saw the exact same information as Bush and they agreed and voted to go to war.

2: Obama had military operations on the ground (special forces and the CIA) and in the air in Lybia without the Congresses approval. This is an unauthorized war unlike the Bush war that was authorized by Congress.

3: How many countries around the world has Obama sent drones to kill terrorist?

No matter how you want to spin it or in your own words lie about it those are the facts.

Yes the republicans are languishing in the fact that they now have 30 governors (the most ever held by the party), they are languishing in the fact that they have total control over 24 state legislatures (most in the history of the party) while the Dems only control 13, they are now languishing over the fact that they have partial control over 6 legislatures. They are languishing in the fact that they went from minus 58 in the House of Representatives and now are plus 33 and they know they will hold the majority until at least 2022.

No matter how much you try to convince yourself the Republicans have no reason to roll over and implement Obama’s agenda.

Montana has 1 rep and 2 senators = 3 EV

Representatives in Congress are determined by population. Each state gets 2 senators. You do know the history of how we created a Senate and a House of Representatives and the difference between the two.

In WY they receive one electoral vote per every 192,137 people
In Montana they receive one electoral vote per every 335,047 people

In Ca they receive one electoral vote per every 691,662 people

Do you get the fact now that your individual vote for President counts 6 times more in WY then it does in CA?

Every state gets 2 Senators. Each federal law must be passed by the Senate. Based on population, WY has more “impact” on each law than GA. This is based on the creation of the Senate. If you don’t like the historical wisdom of the Founding Fathers, feel free to try to amend the US Constitution

I thought rock died in the ’70’s with the advent of disco. Then I thought it came back with grunge and died again after Cobain’s death. Both times I was wrong. There’s a ton of excellent acts out there and good songwriting. Legacy bands are still going strong. Serious playing (for a while thought self-indulgent by folks who thought the song was the only thing that counts) is coming back with a vengeance among the younger generation. I can enjoy listening to new bands for the instrumentalists again. About time.

Yes, td, it can happen under the current electoral system, as it did in 2000.

The intent of this new plan is to try to encourage it to happen, and on a larger scale. When I ran the numbers earlier, they show that Romney might have won in 2012 despite losing the popular vote 51-47, which is a pretty large margin.

If you think the country is divided today with a lack of trust in the system, consciously creating that kind of system will make it much much worse.

51-47 in rare numbers is 6 million more votes nationwide out of a country of 350 million. Another way of saying this is that the difference is the number of votes received by the President received in Boston, Phil and NY and this is exactly the reason the founders placed the electoral college in the Constitution to stop the large urban centers from controlling who is elected President.

There was never any intent of the President winning elections on a popular vote. Our system was originally set up for the House of Representatives to represent the people, The Senate to represent the interest of the state and the President was to represent our country around the world and to make sure the will of the Congress was implemented. The Judicial branch was set up to make sure the states played fair with each other and to make sure the individual rights of the people were not infringed.

As far as divided nation, it is up to you (the media) for one to tell the people the truth as to what the original intent of our form of government is and stopped this myth about everyones vote counts exactly the same and that we directly elect our President.

The big deal that “I” see (can’t answer for your progressives) is that the Republicans see they can’t win based on peddling the message or “ideals” that they claim that Americans share with them. They have been body checked into the glass twice by a Socialist, Marxist, Kenyan, anti-Colonial, Kenyesian, Leftist, “super Liberal” President in two straight elections.

If this were something that the GOP thought was something that would benefit America and not the GOP, they would be pushing for this plan in the 24-30 states they control legislatures and/or governorships. The fact that they are targeting specific battle states where they’ve had their butts handed to them shows that this idea is nothing more than a blatant attempt to change the rules of the game to benefit them on a national level.

Well, the Rev. Postlewaite is no Rev. Jim Bob Buice, but sometimes he can preach a pretty good sermon. I only dozed off a couple times this morning.

Like I said before about this Electoral Colledge thing, things is looking up. I’m sick of having my life run by people that get elected just because they get the most votes. If there’s people that’s too ignorant to vote for the Republican canadate, maybe we need to do it a different way so the right person can get to be President. Course, we could expect to hear howling from the libruls that would be much worse than the howling after the Supreme Court picked Bush to be President.

Just thought I’d let y’all know I’m taking the missus to Ryans today so if you go there be mighty careful about where you put your fingers around the serving line. The missus gets in a stabbing mood when she’s piling food on her plate.

Since we have established that electors vote for the President and not the people, then what is the big deal the progressives are making about states changing the way their electors are vote in the college?

It appears the so-called conservatives at getting ready to follow-up on their threat of “holding the economy hostage.”

The so-called conservatives have stated the sequestration will happen; if the Senate does not vote on a budget, they will introduce a bill that says they will withhold pay for the Congress, in violation of the 27th Amendment of the Constitution.

They still contend that our government spending is too high, regardless of the fact that reducing government spending denies money (demand) needed to keep the economy growing.

Aren’t you glad you voted for these people who swear they have your best interest at heart?
