My duty is to try and educate and keep people from passing stupid laws that restrict freedom for no good reason.
33 states do not restrict private, intrastate sales of firearms at gun shows in any manner. Perhaps 90% of the people are right and you are wrong.
All I have to say about Hillary is:
Rose law firm and Vince Foster.
godless heathen - owner of many things he does not need
January 24th, 201311:44 pm
Figuring out how to stop guns from getting into the hands of criminals and the mentality ill is part of that prevention. It will never be 100% but it can be reduced.
Well then let’s end the discussion on a point of agreement there. That’s what needs to happen.
Looks like the bogus gunshow loophole myth has been oh so thoroughly debunked this evening.
January 24th, 201311:45 pm
Queston is, who wnats to get in Hillary’s foxhole.

Keep Up the Good Fight!
January 24th, 2013
well godless, as Clinton said, It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again
Yes it can be done without taking the rights away from law abiding citizens or “infringing” (undue burdensome legislation) on citizens rights to keep and bear arms. It is called enforcement of current laws on the books for criminals caught with a gun or the mentally ill that should not own a gun. I can agree with making the penalties so harsh on these violators that they would run if they saw a gun.
January 24th, 201311:50 pm
Oh geez. The tinfoil hat slipped off again.
January 24th, 201311:51 pm
Still haven’t seen any of the elves explain why a private gun owner would pay a costly booth fee to sell a couple of guns at a gunshow when he can sell them much more cheaply via other means. Looks like they bs has run outta steam
January 24th, 201311:58 pm
Looks like they bs has run outta steam
They’ll be back, boogey-man recharged: Gun show loophole! Assault rifle! Cop killer bullets! NRA!
And ready to tell us what we don’t “need”.
January 25th, 201312:02 am
Oh geez. The tinfoil hat slipped off again.
So AQ. How did the subpoened Rose Law Firm files get from Arkansas to a credenza in the White House? I’d like to hear your tin-foil hat theory.
January 25th, 201312:06 am
Women , the vast majority, 99%, do not have the physical strength required to be in front line combat positions! They have to be able to move heavy equipment, and, they have to be able to carry a fellow soldier to safety! MOST CANNOT AND THEREFORE THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED IN THESE POSITIONS! And even the thought of considering them for special forces like Delta, or, SEALS is absurd!

Politically Incorrect Comment. Proceed at Your Own Risk:
No question that women can fight, and fight well, in combat – they have proven that they can. As a matter of biological fact, women, by and large, do not have the same brute strength that men have. Or course, there are exceptions to the rule. But, on the whole, men are typically physically stronger than women and can over power them in physical contests — such as hand to hand combat. This is why that in all sports, amateur, professional, and even the politically correct to a “T” Olympics, there are stll men’s and women’s divisions in most competitions.
But despite all of the above, advances in modern weapons technology, advances in physical training, and specifically tailored combat assignments that are not totally dependent on brute strength can help to alleviate the risks . . . to the women.
Here’s the tough part (big gulp, and mea culpa), women in combat fighting next to men endanger men who fight next to them. There, I’ve said it. Yes, I must be a huge male chauvenist pig from Hell, totally dedicated to holding women back, cheating them out of their rightful pay for equal work, demeaning them and sexually harrassing them at every opportunity, and helping the Pub/Cons wage their secret war on women — even if it hurts my three daughters. As my wife sometimes says . . . “fine” . . . uh-oh.
Time for complete and total blasphemy. May NOW forgive me for what I am about to say. Men and women have different ‘hard wiring” that is not based on “learned behavior.” Okay, I must also be a religious nut too. Men do things that women don’t do, and women do things that men don’t do, and it because of their gender, sexual instincts, sexualty, and there hard wired reproductive sexual behavior. I know, I’m going to Hell for this, but nothing I have ever seen in my long life has refuted this. Men in combat will do things for women in severe danger that they will not do for other men. They will take their eye off of the ball, so to speak, to protect the women fighting around them. When women are killed, they will stop and weep over them, because they failed to protect them. Male soldiers don’t want to do that, they are trained not to do it, and they know it puts their own lives in danger . . . but for reasons they may not totally understand, they ignore their training and will to live, and they do. It goes way back to our creation and primeval insticnts and primeval times, our hard wiring — men providing protection, hunting, gathering and providing, and women buildiing the nest, birthing, rearing, and protecting the young and the species — both genders willing to sacrifice their lives.
That is why women should not be side to side with men in combat.
January 25th, 20131:51 am
I would want Hillary in my foxhole as a human shield or to push in front of me when the action got heated. Seriously, how much more stupid can PC liberals be? Men have 3 times the physical strength of women and 20% faster reaction time on average. Tell me I’m bigoted if you want, but I don’t see any female NBA or NFL players. Call it sexist if you want, but a woman has no chance in close quarters hand-to-hand combat or a hot fire fight. Camraderie and bonding are also indispensible to military platoons and I promise that women will never be accepted into a male fraternity, which ultimately weakens the unit.
January 25th, 20131:54 am
Why feel guilty or apologize for stating the facts as they are guitarman? Men and women are NOT created the same way and there are biological reasons for that which can’t be argued. Women are designed by nature to value safety and protection and survival so that they can rear offspring and maximize their survival. Estrogen, progesterone, oxytocin, and other hormones make sure of that. Men are hard-wired for risk-taking and dominant behaviors that ensure their genes are passed on at any cost. Testosterone makes sure this happens. Women don’t belong on the front line of a war anymore than men belong being midwives.
January 25th, 20131:56 am
To make another unpleasant point….what do you think is going to happen to captured American female P.O.W.s if they end up in an Iranian prison? It isn’t a pleasant thought.

Was a little surprised upon reading the numerous posts from those who wouldn’t mind being in a foxhole with Hillary. Then I remembered, liberals have a preference for ugly women.

Shame on you dB for that picture. I haven’t had breakfast yet and now I’m nauseated…….

Captguitarman: Your “argument” makes perfectly good sense………. to someone else like you who has never been in combat. It sounds like something one of the talk radio chicken hawks would say, they never served either.
January 25th, 20137:34 am
Fred, you don’t know what you’re missing. Trust me, once you’ve been with a psychopath addicted to meth and Lucky Strikes you never go back.

dB: While i’ll put the Vince Foster thing in the same category as the birthers, although itIS a weird scenario and I’d like to know what ‘really happened,” you have to admit the Rose Law firm thing had wheels.
Those documents DID somehow turn up in the White house which is a LONG way from Arkansas. But on a scale of 1-10 as far as “corruption’ is concerned, I’d give that one a 2 maybe a 3 and it’s such old hat as to be meaningless any more. It’s like bringing up that time in third grade when Jimmy bob hit Johnny Joe in the gnads and took the Tonka toy he was playing with in the sand box……….
January 25th, 20137:43 am
Well I’m off to make some salmon patties on English muffins for the Mrs. before I send her off to Nashville to school. I made the mistake one time of making salmon patties out of fresh salmon because I made too much salmon. Now I can’t use the canned stuff any more. Whenever I get salmon to grill I get extra and put it on the egg after I take the other off, I add more wood chips and lower the heat and smoke it for salmon patties……….. yum. Plus i can’t think of too much that is unhealthy about it………….
January 25th, 20137:46 am
Those documents DID somehow turn up in the White house which is a LONG way from Arkansas.
yeah, yeah, yeah.
If the Clinton skeptics spent one tenth the resources researching the efficacy of “welfare reform” he’d championed and passed through the right-wing Congress, that they spent on the Clenis’ whereabouts, we’d be a far better nation today.
January 25th, 20137:49 am
“Those documents DID somehow turn up in the White house which is a LONG way from Arkansas.”
Get ready for more of the same. Republican crazy is the only way they can stop Hillary in 2016.
Hey Republicans, how did that Republican crazy work out for you last November?
January 25th, 20137:51 am
dayum, Fred, I might have to steal that idea, because I never know what to do with extra salmon.
It doesn’t exactly re-heat well sans repurposing, and that’s menu item sounds delicious.

Well, I see db has give us a picture of that woman that can’t spell “Ann”.
It’s cold out here folks and I just wish this Global Warming would stop.
All I know about women in combat is, it’s got to be better than what we’ve had. Which is, they always before put a woman in uniform so they could put some poor man that was happy to be serving 100 miles from the fighting right on the front lines to get his a$$ shot off. And if he survived that they sent him home so he could marry some woman that would make him wish he had got his a$$ shot off instead.
Hope somebody plays some Everly Brothers tonight. Have a Good Friday everybody. Did I tell you it’s cold as a welldigger’s a$$ in Alaska out here?

Redneck @ 7.54, I’m afraid “Ann Volk, Ann Reich, Ann Führer” just doesn’t scan quite so well as what we have, instead.
Thats the one sentence that I don’t believe; witness the deficit scolds on this blog daily. No matter what factual evidence you provide, they cannot process or comprehend the truth of it all, so on and on it goes. The only way to reverse it is by keep adding jobs and a couple more years the housing cirisis abating, we are on the correct path…

“Would you want to be caught tapdancing in a stall with Larry Craig?”
Come on now. Fess up cons.
January 25th, 20138:07 am
But seriously, as the deficit does continue to shrink, it’s going to be harder for these morons (GOP and Dem) to keep using the “debt crisis” as an excuse to screw the poors and the olds.
I dunno, there are a lot of others besides chicken little (jm) that are just feverishly brainwashed….I don’t even bother with them anymore, that and the abortion debate – it’s a game of tic tac toe…
Republicans are obviously disappointed with Jay for not giving them a question of personal interest.
I like where this is going.

Off topic, but have all y’all seen this? Seems to the Catholics a fetus is not human if it involves money…
U.S. Catholic bishops review lawsuit saying fetuses not people

DENVER — Three Colorado bishops said on Thursday they will review a Catholic Church hospital’s defense of a lawsuit that argues fetuses do not have legal status – apparently contradicting the Church’s teaching on life issues.
The case stems from a malpractice and wrongful death lawsuit filed by Jeremy Stodghill in the 2006 death of his seven-month pregnant wife Lori at a Catholic hospital in Canon City, Colorado. Her twin fetuses also died.
Stodghill filed the suit against Colorado-based Catholic Health Initiatives, which operates hospitals in 14 states, claiming physicians made no effort to save the fetuses by performing a cesarean section.
In its defense, counsel for the hospital said that under Colorado law, a fetus is not a person and that the twins likely would not have survived even with an emergency C-section.
In a letter, Denver Archbishop Samuel Aquila, Colorado Springs Bishop Michael Sheridan and Pueblo Bishop Fernando Isern said that Catholic institutions had “a duty to protect and foster human life”, which they said begins at conception.
“No Catholic institution may legitimately work to undermine fundamental human dignity,” the statement said.
The bishops said that they would carry out a “full review of this litigation and of the policies and practices … to ensure fidelity and faithful witness to the teachings of the Catholic Church.”
Two lower courts sided with the hospital group, and Stodghill has appealed to the Colorado Supreme Court, which has not yet decided if it will hear the case.

Take some of those NFL sideline reporters and put those ladies in the skinny jeans on the front line. Nobody believes in equity or loves women more that I do but when they start having co-ed football teams I will believe in more women involvement both in the locker room and the army.
The truth of the matter is not many will sign up for actual combat according to studies and the ones that do have at it. We have not been very effective in our engagements for quit a while, now we can share the blame with the whole population not save it for a few.
January 25th, 20138:15 am
have all y’all seen this?
yeah, I have. Smart strategery would be to use this as a wedge to re-schism the unholy alliance that was formed between right-wing evangelical Proddies and Catholics in the wake of Roe, in the 70s.
When you think of all the things they DON’T have in common and that they’ve tolerated in each others’ midst all these years, it shouldn’t be that difficult.
“Would you let Mitt design your aircraft?”
January 25th, 20138:16 am
You bet I’d like to have Hillary in a foxhole – in fact wish she had been in one when all this stuff in the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters began many moons ago. But then as she is prone to say “senator, what does it matter now????” I’ve accepted the blame (without consequences and damning with faint praise those under her command) so let’s drop it and move on. Oops, forgot to include above to my opening statement – “but not in mine”.
Would you feed broccoli to George W. Bush?
January 25th, 20138:18 am
When the Catholic Church got into the health care business fidelity and faithful witness to the teachings of the Catholic Church flew out the window. The Catholics should focus on shepherding their meandering flock and leave the rest of us alone.
