Women in comabat is a perfect example of “be careful what you ask for. You just might get it.”
When I was deployed in Desert Storm, we had Woman Marines in my unit. We were maybe 50 miles behind the front line. We had a detachment that was to forward deploy up to the front line. The WM’s all were griping that they couldn’t go. Our C.O. got permission to send them and asked for volunteers. Not a single WM volunteered.

You got a problem with hoboken???
I don’t think this is going to end well for the dems…
Somebody tell 13, the 1950s are over, OK?
Which is more incongruous? Hillary in a foxhole or the following?
Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry, Michelle Bachmann, Tim Pawlenty, Gary Johnson, Thaddeus McCotter, Mike Huckabee, Fred Thompson, Alan Keyes and Rudy Giuliani.
Given those choices, ‘d take Hillary and give you all of those others!
January 24th, 20136:21 pm
…now that’s funny no matter what your politics are…
In a misogynistic, Republican kind of way, sure…
Personally, I don’t understand the fawning over Hillary. There has been no progress in the middle east, which is not saying much except things are probably worse now between the Israel and the Palestinians. Things with Russia are definitely worse, where they have even shut down US adoptions. Iran is progressing with uranium enrichment, and North Korea is planning on conducting nuclear testing. There is nothing to be heard of “Six Party” talks. So exactly where has the State Department done anything of any consequence?

I’m out. Someone ’splain logic and argumentation to Recon, willya?
January 24th, 20136:26 pm
Hadn’t seen this addressed yet so I’ll offer it. Was listening to the news and it turns out General Dempsey, Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, otherwise known as the President’s senior military advisor, said they’d been grappling with an terrible number of rapes and sexual harassment incidents. One of the things they’ve found is that they’d allowed to develop an attitude of ‘warrior’ (combat arms) vs ‘everybody else.,’ which was not only bad for unit cohesion, but combined with with the policy of excluding women from the combat professions, directly contributed to the culture that condoned harassment and rape. One reason for dropping the exclusions was to assist in putting an end to the criminal conduct.
Personally, I’ll give the opinion of the serving Chairman more weight than the opinions of people who served 40 years ago in a different world who seem to offer up the same old objections for nearly every proposed change that’s come along.

“She let 4 of her people get killed through negligence. In the military she’d be court marshaled.”
You’re a Marine, and you really said that? After what you know about the General Staff’s commands from WWI, WWII, especially MacArthur’s staff from Korea, from the idiots running Vietnam, and you said that? Look, I think she’s no better than any other lying politician, but you really said: “… In the military she’d be court marshaled.? REALLY????? I could stop here, but I gotta pile on with that remark and include: the idiots running the Iraq “war” sending out search squads in Hummers “trolling for IEDs” and increasing the numbers of causalities 100_fold???? REALLY????!!!
Man you’ve gone over to the dark side here

I think we all can envision scenarios where hardships in a combat zone occur, and wonder whether women possess the physical skill to perform basic skills.
For example, a true story!
Jammie was cleaning the officer latrines just outside Saigon back in the late sixties, achieving this duty based on his competence scores. He tripped on his shovel, hit his head on the toilet seat, then passed out with his head under the sludge.
Prompt action was needed to save him from drowning. A brave young PFC, upon hearing a gurgling sound, rushed into action and was able pull Jammie’s face out of the muck, thereby saving him to clean latrines another day.
Would a women have the strength to accomplish such an heroic act?
I’m kinda thinking Jammie’s stench would have caused them to remember they were late for PT.

The deaths in Bengazi are on her head. NO WAY AROUND THAT I DO NOT CARE HOW YOU TRY TO SPIN IT. A FAILURE IN LEADERSHIP AND JOB RESPONSIBILITY AND WHEN SHE WAS ON THE HOT SEAT AND IT WAS SCORCHING…SHE RESULTED TO DRAMATICS AND EMOTIONAL BS TO EVADE. I HEAR THEIR MIGHT BE ARMS SALES TO TURKEY INVOLVED WITH LIBYA AND THEY DID ALL THEY COULD TO DIVERT ATTENTION FROM THAT AT ALL COSTS INCLUDING DUPING AND LIEING TO THE PEOPLE WHOTHEY SERVE…..HILLARYS TRUE COLORS CAME OUT YESTERDAY AND IN BENGAZI…SHES NOT A PATRIOT OR PUBLIC SERVANT. When you talk about taking the word of people like Dempsey I have to assume you were not in the military. Anyone who makes a promotion beyond 2 star General is, by definition a politician. To reach the higher level of rank they have to have political sponsors and they function in a political atmosphere. They are so far removed from to front line troop and what he does its ridiculous. Also, any company level combat experience they have is in our time frame (VietNam).
Read the stories of Soviet Female troops from the German side. They were routinely turned over to the SS and executed, or worse. What do you think al qaeda would do with female POWs.
For those of you who don’t think physical standards would be reduced because of females just look at what was done to basic training standards when women were allowed to serve and train in regular units. The day of “Boots on the ground” is not and never will be a thing of the past.
I’ve heard Hillary speak, I think she would do well in the Drone program.

January 24th, 20137:35 pm
Here we are discussing how 4 Americans died at the hands of “Rebels” who we supported in the overthrow of a widely praised (by the Libyans) government. Yet, none question why Ghaddafi had to be overthrown.
Ghaddafi is yet another in the sequence of overthrows by our (and our extended) government of peaceful countries who were governed by non-secular governments and replaced with secular governments and chaos.
This is nothing new: it started with EYE-rack, continuing with Afghanistan, then Egypt, and, finally, Libya. This is simply the U.S./Israeli policy of eliminating any real opposition to Israeli policies.
Unfortunately, they’ve hit a little snag with Syria. It’s called Russians.
Since they all want equality and “front-and-center- attention”, here’s an idea. If another war breaks out over there(everybody knows where “over there” is) let’s put all the females and gays on the front line. Kill two birds with one shot(pun intended).
January 24th, 20137:38 pm
“If another war breaks out over there(everybody knows where “over there” is) let’s put all the females and gays on the front line. Kill two birds with one shot(pun intended).”
Sounds like a plan to me. Then maybe we CAN win in 6 months instead of taking 10+ years

“Even Jay has had to kick his creepy ass all over this forum more than a few times.”

If you want to see a FUNNY parody movie try to find “A Man Called Sarge”. It is a riot about WW II in North Africa. Hard to find but worth it.
p.s. they have a battle at Ben Cassey
January 24th, 20137:43 pm
This is all about “Equality on the Battlefield” vs. “Effectiveness on the Battlefield”.
As a result, soldiers will die who did not have to ………… but liberals really don’t care about that.
Can a woman shoot a rifle and be in the infantry? Sure! That’s not the point. The point is can she do it as well as a man and the answer is flat no. It’s a question of satisfactory vs. best.
For example ………. the NVA and V.C. were darn good fighters but they were no match for soldiers or Marines in hand to hand combat. In that kind of combat size does matter (just ask Notre Dame what they thought of Alabama).
A perfect example is sports …………. and you don’t see women in the NFL. Why not have equality?
Two women on each team at all times …………. the game would still be “equal” but not the same caliber of play.
Well, combat is more deadly than any sport and foolish people have decided we don’t want the best units that can be trained and put in the field.
Sad but true ……………….
January 24th, 20137:53 pm
Nice scout hole but women are doing your job now scout.
Good points…the only place where women are equal in combat is the hollywood movie. However, in real life why is it really important that women need to be in combat? Whats next, will men be demanding to have babies???
January 24th, 20138:03 pm
Women have been in combat and should remain in combat roles.
If one visits the “Wall” in DC, there are many women there.

What would Jay say?
January 24th, 20138:08 pm
I don’t think Hill would make it to lunch time.
January 24th, 20138:09 pm
I think that woman certainly have a place in a combat zone and in fact they have had for some time. Having said that, they don’t belong in the fire teams and squads of an infantry unit nor in special operation teams. I would think from your experience you would agree with that?
January 24th, 20138:15 pm
I agree with the fact that if they can not meet the physical requirements of the job they are seeking, they do not belong.
However, if all the current requirements are met by the women, there is no problem with putting them in a combat unit. I do not believe women have enough physical stamina to be members of special forces.
To add to that argument, women have been pilots for many years without the standards being lower for them to compete.
January 24th, 20138:28 pm
Do our enemies practice the Geneva Convention? That’s a question you have to ask yourselves. I’m not going to go into what may happen to a female combatant captive. I’m pretty sure you can visualize the ramifications.
January 24th, 20138:31 pm
On face value I’m not concerned with what Pantynetta and Dempsey Dumpsey did with women in combat. The fact is that 99.9% would not make it into the infantry or special operations as combatants anyway. Beyond that what I am concerned about is all of this social re-engineering, multiple combat tours with nothing to show for it after all these years of loss. All of this because of politics not unlike Vietnam that will seriously degrade our military at the worst of times. Few know of the tremendous rebuilding of our military post Vietnam and in every aspect that occurred during a time frame far more stable than what we face today. Fools in charge and those fools can potentially bring our country down.

Yep, that was a “peaceful” regime, if so peaceful, move there. ‘Cause this country is so dangerous.
January 24th, 20138:39 pm
Right Jackie. It’s a heinous proposition. It’s one of those things one doesn’t want to think of. It’s despicable. That is why I think women in combat units should never be allowed.

For those on the night show who may have missed my earlier post. Here’s the experience and take from highly regarded and capable Marine Corps officer who underwent a Marine Corps combat readiness course. She say’s “get over it” and here’s why.
January 24th, 20138:46 pm
It is despicable that anyone has to fight a way, let alone be captured.
Having said all that, the commanders in the field do not want to loose any of their troops under any circumstances, regardless of gender.
So, if there is a mission to accomplish and this soldier is part of the unit charged with completing that mission, what choices are there?
If women have the physical qualifications to fill the position, let them participate. They know the risks!!
January 24th, 20138:48 pm
Gosh, USA Patriot, I noticed you absconded last night after I asked you to produce a link to substantiate your absurd claims. What happened?

That is what your right wing forebears said about them voting and holding positions of power in both the government and in the private sector.

The truth is, Snider’s tale of Nugent’s draft dodging comes from Nugent himself, who relayed the story to High Times in 1977, telling them he got a 30-day notice ahead of a physical exam and launched into action.
“Well, on that day I ceased cleansing my body,” Nugent said. “No more brushing my teeth, no more washing my hair, no baths, no soap, no water. Thirty days of debris build. I stopped shavin’ and I was 18, had a little scraggly beard, really looked like a hippie. I had long hair, and it started gettin’ kinky, matted up. Then two weeks before, I stopped eating any food with nutritional value. I just had chips, Pepsi, beer-stuff I never touched-buttered poop, little jars of Polish sausages, and I’d drink the syrup, I was this side of death. Then a week before, I stopped going to the bathroom. I did it in my pants. Poop, piss the whole shot. My pants got crusted up.”

“They want to do to Libya what they did to Iraq and what they are itching to do to Iran. They want to take back the oil, which was nationalized by these country’s revolutions. They want to re-establish military bases that were shut down by the revolutions and to install client regimes that will subordinate the country’s wealth and labor to imperialist corporate interests. All else is lies and deception.”
– Moamar Gaddafi
[T]he gold bullion held by the Libyan Central Bank (March 2011) was among the 25 largest reserves in the world, as reported by the Financial Times, citing the International Monetary Fund. This provided Libya a critical lifeline after billions of Libya’s assets were seized by the United States and the 27 member states of the European Union.
Many believe the NATO-led invasion of Libya was/is about oil and a vast wealth of other natural resources. Yet another critical element that few are aware of is the fact that Gaddafi had planned to introduce a single African currency made from gold. [Of this proposed African currency] Dr James Thring stated, “It’s one of these things that you have to plan almost in secret, because as soon as you say you’re going to change over from the dollar to something else, you’re going to be targeted … There were two conferences on this, in 1986 and 2000, organized by Gaddafi. … Most countries in Africa were keen.” This would have eradicated the US Dollar and Euro as trade currencies for Africa.

Hey SFBs. What’s your point? Are are you just trolling again?
January 24th, 20138:56 pm
Sooth – I believe that was 2 nights ago….oh, forget the facts, your typical MO. But since you’ve been in so much suspense, here ya go…..the prior administration started the Energy Policy Act 2005 – nope, no monies to Solyndra.
January 24th, 20139:01 pm
The far-left is clearly devoid of any common sense on any subject. Their faux feeling of conquering and controlling the American people will disappear with the collapse of this nations economy that conservatives will once again rebuild. Little foolish men who couldn’t and didn’t contribute to building this great nation won’t ever be able to control it.
Because combat brutality would reach a new level. Heck, it’s bad enough now. Why escalate it?
January 24th, 20139:02 pm
Having spent a great deal of time over the years advising young men how to avoid registering with Selective Service, I can now relax. I’m sure if women do not want to register the requirement will be abolished. Squeaky wheels and all that.
January 24th, 20139:03 pm
USA Patriot: that was my contention to begin with. That the Solyndra project was started under George W. Bush. You, on the other hand, shifted the issue to one of funding.
When you think about it, $529 million (or whatever the F it was) is chump change compared to what our country spends on the military in 1 hour. Yet, the Fright-Wing fixates on this one issue.
And, the point is?
For example ………. the NVA and V.C. were darn good fighters but they were no match for soldiers or Marines in hand to hand combat.
Was that a consolation for our big brawny soldiers and Marines as they ran out of Saigon, away from the teensy-weensy little NVA and V.C.?
January 24th, 20139:05 pm
Perhaps we can win more wars like Libya now.
Sooth, ok, since you took the pithy path attacking my typing skills, sit tight while I get the facts……..love keeping an idiot in suspense!

Little foolish men who couldn’t and didn’t contribute to building this great nation won’t ever be able to control it.

January 24th, 20139:14 pm
Sooth – there you go again….
1/22/13 6:48 pm “Fish Sandwich: need I remind you once again the Solyndra was started during the reign of King Dumbass the First? Obama inherited the project.”
January 22nd, 2013
In 2006, Solyndra began deploying demonstration systems globally. The company stated the total count was 14 systems and that these systems were each instrumented with sensitive radiation, wind speed, temperature, and humidity measurement devices to aid in the development of energy yield forecasting software tools. The company’s website claimed there were more than 1,000 Solyndra systems installed around the world, representing 100 megawatts of power.
The majority of Solyndra funding was provided under Title XVII section 1705 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (as amended by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act).
Gosh, I wonder who was president in 2006 and 2005? Could it have been King Dumbass the First?
Ok, I’ll be the stand up person and recognize you didn’t actually “say” it was funded by the prior administration. Your inference from above “says” otherwise.
January 24th, 20139:16 pm
…won’t ever be able to control it.
Maybe not, but wow!
You stuck in the past gang sure are on one helluva decades long losing streak, huh?
Liberalism in the United States is a broad political philosophy centered on the unalienable rights of the individual.
The fundamental liberal ideals of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion for all belief systems, and the separation of church and state, right to due process and equality under the law are widely accepted as a common foundation across the spectrum of liberal thought.
The main focus of modern liberalism in the United States includes issues such as voting rights for all adult citizens, equal rights, protection of the environment, and the provision by the government of social services, such as: equal education opportunities, access to health care, transportation infrastructure, basic food for the hungry and basic shelter for the homeless.
The origins of American liberalism lie in the political ideals of The Enlightenment. The Constitution of the United States of 1787 set up the first modern republic, with sovereignty in the people

You little idiot, you have no idea beyond what your jack assed teachers in high school or hopefully in your case not college professors because it would have been a waste of your parents money. It was politics and yes left wing politics that lost the war in Vietnam. We won all the major battles. Your degrading comments on far better people than yourself disgusts me.

Fox News military analyst Lt. Col. Ralph Peters (ret.) — who has certainly not been known for his affection for progressives and liberalism — praised Clinton’s performance. “I came away with deeper respect for Hillary Clinton’s bureaucratic lawyerly brilliance,” Peters said. “I mean she was just tough and good and the Republicans looked like weenies:”
PETERS: Hillary mops floor with congressmen and senators. She was as James Rosen pointed out, she was prepared. She had it down. She had answers — anticipatory answers ready.
And the congressmen and senators didn’t do their homework. They made speeches again as James Rosen pointed out. They — their questions were ill focused. They went down the red herring road with Susan Rice as you pointed out.
